personally i will never buy a netbook. most netbooks as presently configured are grossed underpowered. if it's just to surf the web, i will go for one of these large screen smartphones. acer is the number two PC vendor worldwide. their products are good. |
there are better netbooks and laptops with built-in mobile broadbrand modems. e.g thinkpad x200. acer timeline travelmate. hp pro 4xxx series. some toshibas. etc. |
luv2talk:glo does not have EDGE anywhere. |
ade9ja:MTN, glo, zain, and sometimes Starcomms do much better than that. |

@honsule. i assume you already can browse on gprs. to acivate the all day send activate to 127. just reply the received sms till you get to the option that allows you to subscribe to the plan. ofcourse you need N500 balance on your line. when you have received the confirmatory success sms, switch off and on. 3G should appear on your phone. now you use the 3G access point to browse otherwise you will be billed if you have any credit on your phone. once activated, you can use your SIM on any modem or if you like on your phone. let me know how it goes. |
interesting! |
@4llerbe. except you just like to experiment with linux. you should not be having issues. ubuntu works. anyway if need to know more about linux go to www.netbks.com , there are many free ebooks on linux you can download. |
why don't buy all SIMs from the various network and try them out in the UK? |
my last post was deleted. i will say it again. you don't need any special code to have 3G activated on your phone. just subscribe to any data plan. the 500naira all day plan will do. thereafter you have 3G on your line. if you don't want to renew the plan, you can still do pay as you go still on 3G. is that so difficult to understand? |
that browser is crapware. |
@thegr8ola. @ alvin E. you guys are just plain stupid. |
honsule:give it time. it will work. just have a little credit on your line, but don't connect thru glogwap access point. |
who needs my starcomms modem? i am ok with glo for now. full bars on 3G in my house. |
guys.don't be deceived by anybody here. to get activated for glo 3G simply subscribe to one of the prepaid data plan. full stop. the guy who created this thread is just mischievious. you don't need any special code. |
finally the my glo 3.5G is browsing, both on phone and PC. mehn!! the speed is very good. pages open swiftly. is like i will berth my ship here. i am using my laptop's in built modem right now.
|
simply subscribing to any of the package thru sms to 127 should get you activated for the 3G service. the main issue is having the right access point or 3G configurations on your phone. i tried the all day 50mB plan. i got the 3G signal showing on my phone but can't browse. i have 5 access points including the 3G settings. none worked. with MTN this can't happen. you can use any MTN access points to browse. glo should have just one access point that works regardless of the package. |
getting acivated is hell. see why I love my MTN? |
glo 3G
|
from your glo prepaid line dial 125 follow the voice prompt to get your line provisioned for 3G. send '' activate'' to 127 follow the sms instructions to choose from one of several 3G packages. simple! |
useless thread |
uzoma123:this is a discussion forum. all issues should be trashed out here. besides i don't need to be an engineer to use internet connection. anyway i don't like this multi-links package. expensive and not competitively priced. and the speed is no better than that of MTN, glo or Zain or starcomms |
