The corrupt politicians and their associates will take huge chunk of the money to the black and white markets to buy dollars. You keep wondering whats happening to naira. You can only push the naira that you have sold to the market and received dollars in exchange.

Nigeria building poor quality roads since time immemorial - any road construction without granite being poured on the road first and allowed to set before surfacing it with coal tar will wash away within a space of time. What it requires is small port hole or a small opening and it will expand from their.

This has been the known truth. Politicians as a whole, are the major problems of Nigeria. They control huge sums of naira and usually offload them to get USD, thus compounding the problems of the local currency.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Dani Alves Sentenced To 54 Months In Jail Over Sexual Assault by Focusmind: 2:12pm On Feb 22
Angel55555:
Touching a Woman without her consent amounts to sexual assault, you would think most footballers would know that by now.

The punishment is harsh, considering the fact that the Victim is going to be compensated.

He is not white. He is from third world country. See cash out for the victim? These sports men have women, waiting to be theirs but they will rather go for those that will nail them. I hope he doesn't commit suicide why in prison.

Business / Re: How Are You Cutting Cost This Period? by Focusmind: 7:03am On Feb 22
The best area to cut cost with great savings is in your children's school. Check if you could do with a nearby school, where you don't have to be paying expensive school bus and other sundry expenses. Schools now have equalized themselves as technologies and uniformity of curricular have made standards to be uniform. A smart child will always be a smart child. Don't kill yourself insisting on retaining your kids on a 3ook per term school instead of 100k per term school. Peoples kids have gone to schools of 70k per term and came out better than those that went to 5ook per term. If you have the money, no problem - but don't do pass your power if you don't have or struggling to pay.

I like the fact that the current heat wey dey now go show the idiot pepper for prison. She is used to an air-conditioned house but now, chilling in a 50C temperarure shithole somewhere in a Nigerian police dungeon without ceiling but only gbam-gbam. By the time she is out, her skin for don turn to the same colour like an expired Amstel malt drink. Wicked savages! The husband should also be arrested for negligence and lack of duty of care to the 11 year old girl. He owed that girl a duty of care and responsibility to raise her in a respectable manner. He should be charged, jointly with the wife to teach some negligent and carefree men a lesson.

Let's leave this election matter and face what is facing us. The truth is, whether Obi or Atiku, this current economic scenario could still have played out. Some people predicted this economic downturn earlier but we didn't listen. The problem is that, the money the political elite stashed away is now being pumped into the economy. The huge volume of naira is chasing dollar as politicians would want to convert the naira to dollar. Obi or Atiku or even Emilokan, none is a Saint.
Politics / Re: 15 Miscreants To Spend 3 Months In Jail For Obstructing Lagos Pedestrian Bridges by Focusmind: 7:07am On Feb 21
This is what you get when a country fails with human capital development of its citizens. All pedestrian bridges and government parks are currently being occupied by destitute, gangs members, weed smokers. I got to Marwa bustop on lekkiphase one and decided to be a good citizen and use the pedestrian bridge. The dreadlocks looking guys, smoking weeds I saw made me to descend down quickly. The particular pedestrian bridge is always deserted, especially in the afternoon. One supposedly olosho, looking so weird, was there vomiting... .only God knew what was worrying her
Politics / Re: Tinubu: We Will Raise $10 Billion To Stabilise Naira, Boost FX Liquidity by Focusmind: 6:18am On Feb 21
To even be making these statements through Shettima makes it to be another political statement. I expected this kind of major intervention to come directly from the president's mouth. Currency devaluation is the major challenge Nigeria is facing now and it is only the president or at worst, the CBN governor, that should be giving statement on what the government is doing to stabilise it.
Properties / Re: Urgent! Should I Allow My Tenant Bury Her 1 Year Old Daughter In My Compound? by Focusmind: 6:08am On Feb 21
SMH....this is where a father figure was needed. Imagine if the man of the house was around. Married women forming feminist and saying they don't need their husband or they could do without him and nagg him out of the house will have themselves to blame. When situation like this arises, you find out that most can't cope on what to do with the baby. Trust me, if the man was around, that child wouldn't have died. He would find a proper medical treatment, even leaving the house with the child at night to a hospital. During covid lockdown, my daughter developed serious sickness that she was shivering and her breath wasn't good. My wife got some medication from a close by pharmacy which she took and her situation subsided. But around 11pm at night, it came off worse again and her breathing was terrible. I dressed her up, put her in the car and off to a hospital. We met some policemen on the road and I explained to them the situation. As we got to the hospital, she was immediately put on drip with some drugs and injections added to the drip as she was so weak. By mourning, she was able to talk and ate something. If I wasn't around that night, my wife wouldn't take the risk of driving to the hospital that night.

Career / Re: Should I Go For A Masters Degree Or Remain Jobless At Home? by Focusmind: 7:05pm On Feb 20
You shouldn't have resigned except if your mental health was at risk. However, if the poor pay was your only consideration for resigning, then you made a mistake. You could have picked one or two clients and contacts from your former employer and continued to build your social capital and contacts. As s young graduate, except your sanity and mental health is at risk, don't resign. Continue to learn on the job and build your professional network and contacts. You could only do that while you have a job. Once you are out of job, your confidence goes down and people will start to question your ability

Politics / Re: FOREX Crises: 2024 Budget Suffers Major Dislocations by Focusmind: 8:48am On Feb 20
Inflated government expenses are fueling the decline in value of naira. That is a known fact.
Have you asked yourself where unspent budgetary allocations goes to? It goes to the parallels market to be converted to dollars, thus fueling excess naira in circulation.
Imagine budgeting N1bn for feeding. At the end of the year, the person may not have spent up to N100m in feeding for his wife. Where does the remaining N900m go to? Most government officials do not keep unspent budgeted naira. It is either it is invested in properties or converted to USD and kept. The action of government and top civil servants over the years may have contributed and still contributing to the persistent downfall in naira

Business / Re: My Experience After Serving My Oga For 7years Including My Gain And Loss by Focusmind: 11:36am On Feb 19
The "Nwaboi" apprrentice system in the East needs serious reformation. Gone are the day that potential millionaires were made from that system. My father was a product of that system and he enjoyed great deal of success after the civil war - He also trained dozens of "Nwaboi" that lived with us and later excelled in their chosen field. My mom made sure that house chores were evenly divided between us, the children and the "umuboi".

Once I returned back from boarding school, I would be the one to fetch water and fill up the tank, wash my father's car and do other household chores, just to relieve them of extra stress when they returned back to the house from market. My parents never discriminated and made sure that they were all treated well. One of the "nwaboi" from Enugu state dropped his own father's name and adopted our own surname out of respect and love for my father and following the bitter experience his family endured in their native village in Enugu state. After his settlement, fortune smiled at him and he relocated all his siblings from their village in Enugu to Anambra and bought a land in my own village. Today, he is a proud member of my own village as an unofficial adopted son of soil.

Lots of young boys passed through unimaginable abuse in the hands of Oga's madam. As someone rightly pointed, most Igbo men seems weak when it comes to disciplining their wives for misbehaving. Some will see their wives maltreating their house girl or boy and will turn a blind eye. I lived through the peak period of the "nwaboi" apprentice system in the 80s and 90s and saw the many advantages and disadvantages. One of the main advantage was changing a whole family destiny based on the fact that one of their sons have been settled and he is doing very well in Onitsha or Lagos. Before you say jack, he has demolished his old father's mud house and erected a mansion, sponsored his younger siblings to school and started business for his sisters.

May God help those who are passing through this system and are under the worst form of oppression from either their Oga or madam.

This man should have been part of Tinubu's kitchen cabinets and not a CBN governor. He doesn't have sound grip of monetary and fiscal policy to drive monetary and economic policies. Tinubu will stylishly ease him out later out of respect and gets a seasoned economist.

Science/Technology / Re: Guys Using Solar Energy Instead Of Nepa Or Gen. by Focusmind: 12:57pm On Feb 18
My best decision ever!!!!!

Thank God I did it when I did, which was 9 years ago. I received a quarterly performance bonus from my company and thinking what to do with the money. My wife also had my son then, with constant putting on and off of genset, which was stressful. Till today, the Inverter and now solar have been doing a good job, delivering clean energy. I started with only Inverter then before I upgraded with addition of solar panels in 2021. Now that we hardly see light with constant heat, coupled with the fact that I work 95% of the time at home, the solar is a welcomed relief. Nigeria can make one go mad because of inadequate infrastructure.

Igbos be wise una no want get sense

Be wise on what, exactly? Invest in home? I don't know why people keep making this kind of statement. A business man will always chase his customers, wherever he resides. Most of you are fond of saying, " come home and invest ". As if the so called home is even business friendly, with all the greed, envy, family issues and ease of doing business. Please allow Igbos in Lagos to expand their businesses in peace in Lagos or else where in Nigeria if they want. My cousins are in the east, running their businesses and I hear lots of challenges, issues and harassment they face there.

This man just killed himself for nothing. He was in Germany, recuperating from his earlier sickness. After that, he said he wanted to return to Russia, despite strong warning from Germany and EU. But my guy wan form hero and opposition leader, as he was getting so much money from the west. Now, he is gone, the world won't standstill for him. Lots of issues are bothering the world now. He is gone for good. By next week, nobody will remember that he ever existed. He should have quietly maintained his life in Germany and continued to enjoy his life and health.

These guys are just grand-standing. Poverty -stricken sahel republics, that depends on aids for their national budgets. These rulers would plunge their countries and people deeper into Poverty. International relations doesn't work that way. They are entirely dependent on ECOWAS member States for electricity, importation and support and are still playing strongmen. Nobody should come and rant nonsense here and blame Tinubu.
