Family / Re: If You Are The Poorest Amongst Your Siblings Avoid Family Gatherings. by Focusmind: 7:48pm On Jan 01 |
Nackzy: It is like that. Once your finances are not adding up, you will take the anger on something else, even taking the anger on your children. We all face it once in a while. I have had situation I shouted at my daughter or son for something that didn't warrant me raising my voice at them. But I was under the influence of something that was bothering me then. Just remain strong and avoid occasions that would warrant any anger. I avoid trouble at all cost, even at my own loss 2 Likes |

Nackzy: Just keep pushing.....it could be depressing. I always feel for married men in this situation. They wouldn't want to let their wives or children down before their co-wives, cousins and distant relatives, thus increasing the financial pressure on themselves. Remain strong bro! |

XAUBulls: You are correct. I am from Anambra and I know what happens. Nevertheless, there are lots of legit business men and hustlers. Living in an extended family setting, where you are not doing well could be very depressing for the man or the young guy. You could see their countenances on certain family issues. Sometimes, they thread softly to avoid any body yabbing them stylishly. For married ones, the pressure from madam will make the man to lean by force. For families where they cook together and live in the same compound, you just have to contribute, no matter how small to avoid you and your wife being used for side talks. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

Nackzy: So sorry. It does happen. I have seen lots of it. If you are the first son and not able to provide, respect will just vanish. I am not talking from the angle where younger siblings are richer than you. It is different. They may be richer but you are still doing well yourself, no problem....your respect remains. It becomes a problem when you are struggling and you are depending on handouts from younger siblings, my brother, na Oyo. 9 Likes |

So true, especially in the SE. Not just among siblings but cousins and extended families. The intimidation no be here o from the super rich siblings. The competition and show-offs too much. I pity those struggling in the midst of their wealthy siblings and cousins. To talk or contribute in family gatherings is always difficult. For the married ones, the pressure from their wives increases when the wife sees what Oga's siblings and cousins are doing for their wives and children. May God prosper all men struggling legitimately. 30 Likes 5 Shares |

Properties / Re: Bishop Ozubulu Opens 5 Star Hotel In Ozubulu by Focusmind: 6:26am On Jan 01 |
Some of all these business men with so much money. Very high class hotel but what about how the hotel is going to pay back itself. I doubt if they will be getting occupancy rate of up to 15% at ordinary times. Highest will be 20% at festive periods. He should have put this thing in Awka and make it a den of politicians and high class yahoo boys. In business and property matters, location is key. I guess he doesn't need the money from the hotel business as there are other channels he is making his money. Hotel business is not profitable if you are not in a good location without contact to bring government and private sectors functions to it. 1 Like |

Education / Re: Ogbonnaya Okoro Is Translating Physics Textbook To Igbo Language by Focusmind: 2:41pm On Dec 22, 2023 |
The truth is, most Igbos will struggle to understand the physics in Igbo. Some can't even read the Igbo language properly talk more of reading and understanding a physics text book written in Igbo. The language has to be assimilated first before it could be used in teaching. English language has done incalculable damage to most Nigerian native languages. It has to start from families, through the kindergarten and primary schools. Native languages should be used to teach pupils. 2 Likes |
Romance / Re: My Virgin Wife And DNA Saga by Focusmind: 10:42am On Dec 21, 2023 |
Trust is becoming a scarce commodity in marriage these days. But OP, you should be able to see some of your physical features in your child naa. Look at the baby's hair strands, her jaw, eyes and fingers. Is there any similarities with yours? I agreed with you, most women married to paramilitary guys do show some signs of promiscuity. But don't judge yet , till the DNA is out. |

Politics / Re: Population Outgrows Economy Amid Rising Dependants, Misery by Focusmind: 8:30am On Dec 14, 2023 |
This is the problem of Nigeria - the high rate of dependents is taking away disposal income for investments from few middle class families. As long as greater percentage of families continues to live in poverty, the future prosperity of the few families that are doing relatively well will be in jeopardy - Reason you see people doing well in Nigeria, earning manageable salaries in companies, risking it all to find new homes abroad. The fear is, the country may not provide their children the little opportunity they were able to get. 18 Likes 4 Shares |

Sometimes, I feel like, the parents of this kind of person should also be arrested for negligence of responsibility and duty of care. Parental failure in up bringing of a child is a predisposing factor to this kind of behaviour in later years of the child. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Nigerian pastors don use tithing brainwashed Nigerians. We keep paying tithe, keeping to the religious rules, yet, iniquity and impunity rules supreme in our society. I am a highly dedicated and committed Christian o. Nevertheless, use my senses to worship and follow my Christian doctrines. I am a humanitarian to the core and so, I am not short of or found wanting in giving to the poor so that we don't enter into unnecessary arguments of not given. 3 Likes |

Travel / Re: Passengers Experience Chaos As Conveyor Belts At MMIA Breakdown by Focusmind: 6:25pm On Dec 10, 2023 |
Na una dey take risks for government facilities. It is my official policy not to use lift or conveyor or escalator or any mechanically operated assistance in any government building. Be it ministry, agency, parastatal or board. I jejelly use stair case, no matter the number of staircases, I climb them. In MMA, I quietly use the staircase. I don't use the escalator. I went to a government building along Awolowo Road Ikoyi to submit a document. I found out that the office was on the 11th floor. I looked at the number of people on the ground floor waiting to enter the lift. I just told myself that, hey, you could do it. Just climb. I entered the staircase and got to the 11th floor. Finished my mission and descended down again via the staircase. However, the effects on the heartbeat no be for here o. But it was a good exercise. |
Food / Re: How Many Packs Of Noodles Do You Eat? by Focusmind: 12:10pm On Dec 10, 2023 |
Because of age and other considerations, I take one small one with one egg for breakfast or dinner. When extremely hungry and no food insight, I take two small ones and one egg. Nobody cooks indomie for me o. I cook it myself, with serious parboiling and taking off the initial water and then fry it small, with onions and oil from titus sardines. I will keep the sardines for my kids to use for bread or their own indomie. 1 Like |

The main worry is that cap on extension of PGWP. What happens after the Post Graduate Work Permit has expired and the international student has not been lucky with PR application. Na to return back to his or her country. There are piles and piles of PR application waiting to be attended to, and some international students, even with the Canadian work experience and Canadian education have not been able to make the cut for PR. 6 Likes |

Lagos and Chaos. The potential of the state still remains under utilized - this is the economic power house of the country, yet the roads are nothing to write home about - This harmattan haze is creating lots of environmental pollutants - you cant even do normal workout again on the road as everywhere is polluted with dusts. 2 Likes 2 Shares |
Politics / Re: COP28: Seyi Tinubu, Stewards, Chefs, Cooks Among Nigerian Delegation by Focusmind: 8:29am On Dec 06, 2023 |
Reason why it would be difficult to ask the citizens to make sacrifices for the country. When you see how your leaders are wasting the resources of this country, how do you expect one to show patriotism by paying taxes and other commitments to the State. The social bond and trust between the State and the citizens is broken. Most Nigerians gets upset when you tell them to stay in the country to rebuild it, instead of running to white man's country. How are they going to join hands to rebuild the country with the mentality of our leaders? Our problems seems too complex. Our leaders keep given us reasons to doubt the viability of Nigeria ever getting out of its problems. Personal interest will continue to dominate people's actions instead of national, Nigerians don't believe in their government to cater for their needs and that of their families. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Family / Re: Lebanese Kids Cry In Airport As Their Kenyan Nanny Leaves (Video) by Focusmind: 12:59pm On Dec 03, 2023 |
A vendor to one of my client, A Lebanese, had to relocate to UK with their Nigerian Nanny. It was during one of our business discussions that he asked me how to go about getting passport for his Nanny, that the family could not afford to leave her behind. The man said he came to Port Harcourt with his wife and within a space of 9 years, they now had 3 children. His Nanny was a nursing assistant at the hospital in PH where the wife put to bed for their first child. The kind of service and dedication the nanny showed was awesome and they asked her if she would want to stay with them to take care of the new born, which she agreed. Na so the girl stayed with them for 9 years and the family wanted to move to UK. Everything worked out and the nanny left with them. 6 Likes |
Politics / Re: Governor Sanwo-Olu Attends Discusses Climate Change At COP28 In Dubai Pictures by Focusmind: 11:35am On Dec 03, 2023 |
Namaster: I agree with you on this - Lagos environment, from the bad roads, to disgusting open gutters, to dust and pollutants coming from Danfo and trucks, Lagos is choking!! You cant even do open walk out in peace without inhaling dangerous fumes everywhere. People will dig out rubbish from the gutters and used it to fill potholes on the road, creating more dusty roads with nylon debris and dangerous pollutants flying around. Our politicians are nothing to write home about - they will go to Dubai and see how cities are, but will come back to give us craps, to the admiration of their ignorant supporters but much to the dismay of good citizens that knows what governance is all about and how environment and cities should be. |
