My favorite city and city where I have most of my relatives, kinsmen and town's men. The update is frightening with looting and house burgling going on by the "akas". People's foods and other perishable items puts in the fridge have all spoilt. The hospitals are the worst hit and places, where preservation of things using electricity are used. Shopping malls have disposed of all their refrigerated items as all have gone sour and bad. Electricity is something that is taken for granted overseas and they hardly prepare for this kind of situation.

Nigerian parents could be funny. Everything to them is a competition. Even nursery and primary schools' inter-house sports that the school conducted, I saw how mentally low some parents could be, especially the mothers. Some were even mad at their kids, the MC and the referees in the contest. Something that was supposed to be fun for kids. Parents turned it into a place to show useless contest, argument and unnecessary quarrel with the school. Even contest like 100m dash and some athletics sports were contested and some parents were not happy that their kids lost out. Mothers should always put their emotions in check in public. Everything is not about we vs. them.

Netanyahu used the right word, "assassination". The word most US media refused to use, even the government. Netanyahu is sending a powerful message to Biden. If Netanyahu is to choose between Trump and Biden, definitely, he would go for Trump. He needs someone that can checkmate Iran and Hezbollah.

I don't know why people are saying this was "staged". He had a close shave with death. The bullet just scratched through his ear. Imagine if the head was positioned in another angle and the bullet happened to hit, he is gone!

Where is his picture? Police displays arrested criminals to the public and press and shows their faces in "crime fighter" program. They should do same on this their member.

The man don lean! G5 will consider the decision they made in 2023 to be perfect. Believe me, nobody will ever come after them as long as Wike is still with them. Wike should be one of the most powerful politicians in this current dispensation. Even the Chief of staff is coming to his house all the time like an errand boy.

Most gulf Arab States hates violence and any atom or sign of radicalism is immediately dealt with. They prefer to offer assistance and aides to their fellow Muslims brothers in conflict, to accepting them in their countries as refugees.

Some Nigerians and stupidity. This one is just looking for YouTube content. The house even has stone - coated roof. How many roofs in his village were coated with stone roofs? As someone said, even if it is a ghetto, the ghetto is still well-planned with all amenities compare to the highbrow areas of cities.

Pets / Re: Missing Hyena Captured, Returned To Plateau Wildlife Park by Focusmind: 7:25pm On Jul 09
Nigeria's wildlife management is too archaic and crude. They need to go to East and Southern Africa and see how zoos, wildlife and game reserve are managed. This is what is attracting tourists, making the countries to earn huge foreign exchange from tourists. See how the Hyena is looking malnourished, meaning, it has not been feeding well.

The way these Korean came up with SAMSUNG is simply amazing. The company is a mega source of revenue to the country, eclipsing even what Nigeria earns from crude oil. SAMSUNG is now into heavy industries, manufacturing, chips, electronics gadgets and household items, employing millions of people both within and outside Korea. This is what is called, value creation, for a countries using corporations as a yard stick to measure value addition to the general economy. You cannot under estimate the impact of human capital development on any country. Profits from SAMASUNG businesses alone is proving huge funds to the Korean government.

Foreign Affairs / Re: Hungary's PM Visits Putin In Moscow Sparking Outrage From NATO (Photos) by Focusmind: 7:21am On Jul 08
Victor Orban has taken over the Presidency of the rotating EU Presidency and one of his agendas is to bring peace, which he may likely achieve, as he in good terms with Putin. He equally visited Ukraine before going to Moscow. With likely Trump's victory in US and Orban's EU Presidency, both may work out plans for peace in Ukraine. But will the comedian accept the peace treaty or will he continue to sacrifice his soldiers and get billions of dollars in aides from his allies?

I keep saying it: Development is about human beings and not about physical infrastructure. It is about the emerging of free and egalitarian societies with rule of law and not about physical development; It is more about human capital development and improvement in the quality of human beings within any society.

Is Joe Igbokwe still doing his job? His contractors are doing bad jobs. They will bring out debris from the gutters and keep them by the road sides, further obstructing free flow of flood. Those contractors hired to clear gutters are not doing their jobs effectively.

It takes great discipline and courage to remain calm under provocation. LASG doesn't take likely domestic abuse in any form. I pity him. He may go to jail without an option of fine if convicted.

All these people rooting for Trump, I hope you would not go near the US embassy for visa. Be ready to receive back home those your relatives in US that have been sending money back home but are undocumented illegal immigrants. Be ready to see more cuts in aids and assistance to developing countries like Nigeria, which will affect everyone. Be ready for a world full of uncertainties under Trump and likelihood of escalation of tensions.

Politics / Re: Economic Revamp Without Impact - Punch Editorial by Focusmind: 11:25am On Jul 01
As everyday passes, I become more skeptical about any rebound of the economy. The level of poverty is unbearable and income is shrinking fast. Time will come when some middle class people would be unable to pay rent and the default rate will spike. The current food and groceries inflation is worrisome and the challenges to the economy are becoming even more challenging. I don't know if any of the other presidential candidates would have done anything differently . Truly, Buhari finished this economy and he laid the foundation for the current mess we are seeing. My problem with the current government is profligacy and the opaque nature in award of contracts and management of public finances, even in the midst of overwhelming poverty.

As a football player, I don't know how you will feel when you are being offered to another club in exchange for a better player from that club grin

I Know it is a common practice in football to offer one of your players in exchange for another better player from another club. But being the player in the middle of the "chess game" between the two clubs will make you feel somehow. You are now seen as a commodity to be "traded" to get something better. undecided

Go to our Universities and see what is happening - very common among the lecturers.

I don't know why their retirement age should be pegged at 70years when most of them are not doing anything meaningful once they clock 65 years. You will see them collecting salaries for doing nothing from 60 years. They hardly do any academic work as from 60 but keep delegating their works to graduate assistants. Even those on one paid assignments outside the University or on any political appointment will still be drawing salary from their school.

Business / Re: Supreme Court Affirms Conviction Of Ex-bank PHB MD Atuche by Focusmind: 10:20pm On Jun 28
People that didn't know what transpired are here commenting rubbish. I strongly believed that Sanusi was on a vendetta mission against Erastus Akingbola of Intercontinental Bank, Francis Atuche of Bank PHB and Cecelia Ibru of Oceanic. The three Banks were still meeting their obligations to their customers till the time Sanusi hammer came on them. There may have been some breach of corporate governance but Sanusi's action was excessive and high handed. Those banks wouldn't have collapsed if he had allowed those MDs to steer the banks from any financial crisis. These were seasoned bankers that founded and nurtured those banks. There was no way those CEOs would have allowed their businesses to go under. Sanusi just used his office to get even with those CEOs. It wasn't just about maladministration and lack of corporate governance. Did Sanusi follow all the laid down corporate governance policy of CBN when he was the governor?
