http://www.factmonster.com/ipka/A0767765.html Trousers in History In Asia both women and men have long worn pants for warmth, comfort, and convenience. In Rome and Greece women and men wore tunics. In the fourth century, women in the Western world wore pants, which they adapted from the Persians. At that time, pants were considered unmanly. By the Middle Ages in Europe women were wearing dresses and men were wearing breeches. After the French Revolution, men took off their high heels, silk stockings, and wigs and began wearing trousers. In the nineteenth century women put on trousers to ride horses, but they hid them by wearing full skirts on top. All trousers were pull-ons until the nineteenth century, when front closures using buttons were introduced. Jeans were the first trousers to put women and men on equal terms. Until 1970 it was not fashionable and sometimes against the law for women to wear pants in offices, classrooms, and restaurants in the U.S. |
Trousers (British) = Pants (American) Any lower body dress requiring putting in two legs into different openings is a pant. Boxers, Briefs, Y-fronts, Knickers etc. Any lower body dress without leg openings with or without hemming is a skirt. Wrapper, Kilt, Izaar, Sarong etc. |
Davidflight:I bet you, even today very few Africans can/will navigate the course of the River not to talk about ancient times with warring parties and extremely hostile territories. Malaria was a killer then & now even more so for Europeans with very little immunity against the disease. The rapids & waterfalls along the way were treacherous. You will have to deal with bandits too. Exploration was not for the faint hearted and there are still places waiting to be explored in Africa only if you dare. Belief in water spirits and other evil machinations is a stumbling block though. |
The reason why Naija people are not explorers or care much about geography & maps or map reading. As at now, many States in Nigeria lack adequate maps for various purposes. The so-called River Niger became such when? In ancient times how many Africans knew it's origin & course? When we try to revise history to become PC we only fool ourselves. Without the advent of Europeans on our shores, it is possible the map showing the course of the River will still be unknown. From the strange shape of the River it seems two ancient rivers must have merged together . Now for the JAMB questions: What is the name of the first West African to complete the navigation of River Niger? What is the name of the first man to draw the map of the course of River Niger? What is the name of the person that started the use of the name Niger River? |

Nigeria's estimated possible yearly crude oil earnings : $50.00 * 2,200,000.00 * 365 = $40,150,000,000.00 ($40 billion) How is it possible to lose $100 billion? Abi na Sanusi calculator? ![]() If you divide the estimated by a population of 180,000,000 you will get $223.06 which is the reason why Nigeria is classified as a poor country with people earning less than $1 daily. Oil accounts for over 80% of forex earnings. |

nmreports:1. Who Natural resources alone epp? You need local knowhow to exploit the resources otherwise foreigners will be in control and you end up like Nigeria selling crude oil and buying fuel. 2. Nigeria leaders are different, they steal from home and invest abroad. They have no confidence in local expertise like Buhari and his medical tourism. 3. Implementation of policies is the real thing and that is our bane. 4. Black countries are not well educated in the way the world economy works. They lack the pragmatism and long term planning to make the system work in their favour. Answers: a. Our development is not slow relatively. b. Nigeria cannot develop effectively under the current structure of sharing as opposed to baking especially with the population explosion. It's the economy stupid. |

hardywaltz:http://energymixreport.com/nigerias-oil-sector-growth-fell-1-89-q1-nbs/ Nigeria’s oil sector growth fell by 1.89% in Q1 – NBS BY EDITOR ON JUL 27, 2016 UPSTREAM The real growth of Nigeria’s oil sector slowed by 1.89 per cent in first quarter of 2016, due to the reduction in the country’s daily production occasioned by pipeline vandalism, The Guardianreports. The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), which made this disclosure in its first Quarter 2016 Gross Domestic Product (GDP) report, noted that this represents an improvement relative to growth recorded in the preceding year of 2015 when growth slowed by 8.15 per cent. According to the bureau, the oil sector contributed 10.29 per cent of the total GDP, marginally lower from the share recorded in the corresponding period of 2015, yet higher from the share in fourth quarter of 2015 by 2.24 per cent points. It stated that in the first quarter of 2016, oil production stood at 2.11million barrels per day (mbpd), 0.05mbpd lower from production in fourth quarter of 2015. It added that oil production was also lower relative to the corresponding quarter in 2015 by 0.07mbpd when output was recorded at 2.18mbpd ============================================= http://energymixreport.com/nigerias-q3-exports-rise-increased-crude-sales-india-u-s-nbs/ Nigeria’s Q3 exports rise on increased crude sales to India, U.S. – NBS BY EDITOR ON DEC 1, 2016 BUSINESS & FINANCE, MIDSTREAM, UPSTREAM Nigerian exports climbed 29 percent in the third quarter, official figures showed on Thursday, lifted by crude sales to India and the U.S. that helped cut a widening trade deficit in Africa’s largest economy, Reuters reports. The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said the trade deficit narrowed to minus 104.14 billion naira in the third quarter, from 484.23 billion naira in the previous quarter, due to the rise in exports which went from $342.5 million to $1.59 billion. The recession in Nigeria deepened in the third quarter as oil output fell due to militant attacks in its crude-producing Niger Delta and global prices remained low, choking the economy of much needed dollars to fund imports. Oil production averaged 1.63 million barrels per day between July to September, down from 1.69 million in the second quarter. The government’s budget calculations are based on 2.2 million barrels of oil production per day. The NBS said crude exports accounted for 84.2 percent of export trade in the three months to September. It said total exports at 2.31 trillion naira were flat compared to a year ago, with India and United States accounting for more than 40 percent of export trade. |

Restructuring is a continuous process. Nigeria has always been restructuring. From amalgamation to regions, states (12, 19, 21, 36, ...51?), geo-political zones etc. We need to stop the rhetoric and face our critical challenges head on.. Referendum, consensus, enacting required laws by parliament are ways that can make things happen. |
