I want to ask why so many students from nigeria have fear to make english test for foreign Universities like Toefl or Ielts.

I work in austria, and I have students from many countries and i get this english test that they know the english language without asking them.

I can speak from my country about learning a second language it start here at the first primary school and goes on with the secondary schools.

My daughter went to a secondary school and finished this school 2002 and in her last 3 years the teaching language was english in chemisty and some other subjekts. That was one of the first schools here in Austria where they teach in both languages and now it is normal that in the secondary schools they teach in german and in english.

Our system is a little bit different from nigeria we have 4 years primary school, 4 years secondary modern school, 4 or 5 years Secondary school when you go 5 years than you learn also that you can start working in a company (like chemistry, or engineering for cars or electricity) or that you can go to the University.

To study in Europa is cheap but what is expensive is to legalise the documents for the students.

I write you now what you have to pay only for the embassy in Austria to get your Documents legalised.

60 Euro for the consular fee at the embassy of Austria is Naira 13.000,--
120.000 Naira for the lawyer which look if your Documents are okay.
40 Euro for each Document which need verification that is Naira 10.000 which must be legalised that means birth certificate, police statement, state or orgine, degrees from the University so every student has between 6 and 10 Documents so this is between Naira 60.000 and 100.000 but normaly it is 80.000 Naira
60 euro Visa fee is about 13.000 Naira when you have your admission letter to make the visa that you can travel to Austria.

So only the embassy take 226.000 Naira from us.

Before we have to go to the Ministery of education and the ministery of foreign affairs to get a stamp each Document is Naira 5.000,--

We have to make a paper that you can study what you want to study in Austria also in Nigeria so for this we have to pay also.
Every Document needs this stamp from the ministery because when we didn't have it, Austrian embassy will not make anything. We look that when we have all your documents that we get a fast appointment at the embassy and you know how this work in nigeria.

We send the legalised Documents with EMS to Austria so this is between 12.000 and 20.000 Naira, when the University is here in Vienna we bring the papers direct to the University, when the University is in an other city I send it to the University which is also about 2.000 Naira.

Embassy is 226.000 Naira
Minister in Nigeria 60.000 Naira
EMS 15.000 Naira
Payment in Austria about 20.000 Naira
But all together than you see how much it is Naira 321.000 that is without payment for our work in Nigeria and Austria.

That you get the visa for Austria you need a acommodation, we also make this for you, when you are here in Austria we help you that you get a legal work.

You don't need to travel to abuja to make this all alone, the only time you have to travel to abuja is when you go for your visa.

Should we work for nothing, it is a service, and on our Homepage we tell what we make.

Some Universities here in Europa want that you pay before they give you the admission, the tuition fee, should we pay this for you from our own money.

To study in english is not cheap at any University in Europa (not Uk). Why your broter didnot want to learn the language from a country and study perhaps in german or in an other language.

Enigma: Now, a few of the somewhat more "antagonistic" points:

1. AFAIK, most people challenging the modern teaching of "tithing" do not argue that a knowledgeable person who chooses to "tithe" is not free to do so or necessarily should not do so.
2. The challenge is not to "tithing" per se but to the teaching of tithing ---- especially as an obligation for a Christian. The teaching is simply not true and cannot truly be supported biblically!
3. The teaching results in contradicting and undermining the teachings of Jesus Christ and of the apostles. Imagine a person who refuses to hand over his "tithe money" to a poor family whose child needs an operation because s/he "must" drop the "tithe" in "church"! Does that square with what Jesus and the apostles taught or stood for?
4. The teaching puts people in bondage of fear, makes them subjects of superstition and scared even of their own shadows! Imagine people saying that if they don't drop their tithe in a particular month, all kinds of bad things will likely happen to them!
5. (My most controversial perhaps): The teaching helps to advance the cause of satan. Many of the "churches" that are mushrooming and so-called 'wo/men of God' tack on to the teaching primarily for "business" reasons and to put it bluntly to line their own pockets by defrauding people!
6. The teaching spawns a lot of other related teachings that are clearly contrary to the teachings of Christ; e.g. the "sowing and reaping" or "give to get" teaching that is now rampant. I once saw live and direct in person with my own two eyes a, maybe the, leading Nigerian "GO" agree with an American huckster that "giving to the poor" is sowing on bad ground because "the anointing into which you sow determines the size of your harvest" --- corrupting a parabolic teaching of Jesus Christ.
7. The teaching of course also helps the cause of private jet "pastors" defrauding unwitting people that jets are necessary for "ministry"! Na so!

I can go on and on and on --- but you get the gist.

Our duty is to be honest with our handling of Scripture and not be scared that "people will not give voluntarily" etc etc.

Our duty is to trust the Lord who has given people renewed hearts to lead them and to cleanse their own volition such that voluntarily and out of gratitude they will be willing givers --- even if its out of their own meagre resources.

Even leaving out the hucksters and turning to people who "honestly" believe that tithing is still "necessary", part of the problem is the structural pattern(s) we have adopted --- e.g.building huge edifices and apparatuses that have to be maintained etc etc etc

Yeah you write it like it is in nigeria and like i hear it here in my country when they see what christian life means, not giving to the big so called great man of god, giving to the poor the people near you, the little child who has no parents, and i can tell you you will put a smil on such a child and that is what jesus want from us not feed this rich pasors and daddy go#s and what names they all have.

Akiika: I went through the picture of kids in Nigerian schools and i weep. Is this the same country Government officials steal money and gets away with it? Is it the same country the president uses 1 billion Naira to feed in a year?...purchase fleets of presidential planes? All NASS members receive constituency project fund, what the heck do they use the money for? State Governments receive monthly allocation with nothing to show for it. Oh God, you are definitely a patient God, but please do something about these oppressors fast before they ruin the lives of these innocent children more than they already did.

you forgot something a country where the churches are rich where the parents give money to the churches. Why the churches cannot make schools for the normal people not Universities for the rich. I think that is also a big problem.
Parents should look first at there children that they get a good education, that is also a big problem that the money goes to the wrong places.

I can't remember when we here in Vienna we have the last time that we had no electricity. We have it 7/24 hours. No one need here to have a generator.
It is wast of money.
I look what they need here in Vienna for a small embassy.

They say the need realy near 3000 Euro for one month for electricity sorry that is to much.
A normal family with 4 person and with a house where you have all going with electricity like cooking, washingmaschine,tryer for the clothes, dishwasher,freezer, refrigerator, 3 Tvs and light, and a omputer who is always online will not pay more than 100 Euro per month.
I only whant to show you the differenc because big shops here in Vienna have to pay this for there electricity and with big i mean shops with 5.000 m2.

I can only speak what we have here in Europa and here a pastor or a priest get paid from the church. They get also money from the goverment when they teach in schools but it belongs how much they get how old they are and how big the church is.

Why could this not possible in Nigeria, than there would be no great man of good you have there own jet and live like a millionair.

Who knows what a pastor in nigeria make with the money he get from his churchmembers. What he makes with the tithes he gets from his churchmembers.

livethinme: I have no problems with pastors expanding and preaching the word of God. I do have problems with people like who you blindly follow and do everything they say. Pastors in Nigeria are seen more as Gods than as Pastors and that is a problem, particularly because they mess around in politics/with politicians. Heck' we have situations in the east where a Pastor in a village can say that a child has the spirit of wizardry in him and said child will be promptly excommunicated from his home.

Another thing. Imagine, look at the state of Nigeria. Look at the state of its moral values. Unless you're going to defend Nigeria and say that everything there is in tip-top condition.
I understand the need to expand, but why dont these pastors try and improve the morality in Nigeria, which is pretty much non-existent. Or why dont they invest in programs to empower young people to find work, programs for the poor etc..or even use their influence in politics to convince the lawmakers to actually give a dam about the country (if they already do then fine).
This is one of the reasons I laugh when some Nigerians say that although the west is doing better economically, at least we have our morals LOL

Oh and I dont need/want more of this God dey attitude which has plagued our nation since kingdom come.
