Napoleon55: NFF is an incompetent body, there is no arguing that. I can blame NFF for 99% of every other thing else, but you see this matter of foreign born players, especially the trio of Saka,Olise and Eze,these ones believed they were born superstars, so there is nothing you or NFF would have done to force them to play for us. Nobody need to tell me that Nigeria tried to convince Olise and Eze when they were still in championship to play for us, but Olise prefer to play for France U23 team, while Eze preferred English U21.
How about Adarabioyo's case if you think we stood a chance against Olise or Eze, what is preventing that one from from playing for us when he is yet to feature for English senior team? Does it mean that nobody in NFF knows about a Nigerian player in Chelsea,or even Nwaneri of Arsenal.
Nobody is trying to hold brief for NFF but it's better to put things in proper perspective before passing judgment. Which Superstar? Eze that honored invitation to train with us in London? He waited in vain for a call up to SE then All we needed to do was to cap tie him. Saka and Oliseh were nobody as at the time we talked about then here. NFF no approach them at the appropriate time. Perhaps, they couldn't identify their talent.

Even our women's team is suffering because of them. Most of them na politician with zero football knowledge. Although some could have done better if given the opportunity. 2030 is not too far but we are yet to scout good foreign born players. The last ones we got were Lookman and Torunarigha and they both made their debuts for the SE in 2022 and 2023 respectively.
DR Congo we are dragging to court now cleared 5 players within 2 weeks. Since FIFA launched their change of association platform in April 2025, zero eligible players have been cleared by our FA that had previously played for their country of birth at youth level What are they doing at the helm of affairs of glass house? Did the coach approach him? He was invited when he was with Crystal Palace but I could remembered the clamoring was from when he was with Readings. After Eze trained with the team. Besides if you watched the game well, when they are defending , he doesn't go wide to cover for the left back. And even Diego simeone had to call his attention to that in the first half . Let's end this talk. I just said what I observed. It will be good if he works on that defensive alertness. It will help him and the national team. There is no need wasting my time. Forget the goal What did Athletico do when he was removed? You only focused on one part leaving his holdup play, passes and goal. The Club Bruges were dominant against this Athletico. What do you expect? Magic!! They pressed from start to finish forcing Athletico to commit errors. Despite that Lookman hardly lost the ball. Another thing is, Lookman was not tasked to press. He was behind the front layer of the 2 attacker on the left flank. |

TheSuperNerd: People have a right to question and frown at his callup because he has not delivered for the Super Eagles in the same manner Osimhen has. Peter Ijeh used to score loads of goals back in the days for his scandinavian clubside but he just was not Super Eagles material.
When Rashidi Yekini reigned in the Super Eagles especially between 1991 and 1994, there was a hot Richard Owubokiri. Ask Kog45, Icon4s and the other elders how Yekini kept edging him out even though Yekini was in the 2nd tier of portugal in 1991-92 and 1992-93 seasons scoring while Richard was top scorer of the topflight with 30goals in 1991/92 and 2nd with 14goals in 92/93. It was in 93/94, Yekini became top scorer of the portuguese topflight with 21goals after helping his side gain promotion in 92/93.
Onuachu was Ighalo's backup at Afcon 2019 and got more minutes than a younger Osimhen at same tournament. Rohr started him in our 1st game at that Afcon vs Burundi. He did not impress. Who naturally took over the main #9 role after Ighalo left and made it his own by completely obliterating the competition? It was Osimhen.
So yes, Onuachu is outscoring now but we know who delivers in the GWG when push comes to shove. The difference is clear as day and night. Afterall, Simy also outscored Osimhen in a season in Italy. Yekini didn't become top scorer of a league for the first time in Portugal. He was already a proven player far ahead of Ricky before he joined the Portuguese liga and proved he was no fluke with 13 goals in his first season in Europe. It is just like Osimhen playing in the farmers league now together with Onuachu but doesn't mean Onuachu was hotter than Osimhen. I repeat. Yekini was consistent from 80s to 94. |

7 TheSuperNerd: Well, same way Osimhen is also an established Super Eagles Striker.
The Yekini/Ricky analogy had a point. Ricky was hotter in 1991/92 and 1992/93 when Yekini was in the 2nd tier yet no one disrespected the King, Yeking. Even the table you drop showed Ricky "outscoring" Yeking yet we both know who was Super Eagles' #1 in attack back then.
I expect same to be accorded Osimhen. That is the point you missed. Finito. You are still wrong. Yekini played in the finals of CAF biggest continental tournaments prior to joining a club in Portugal. He was already a bigger star than Ricky. No comparison. Perhaps, Simmy performance can be likened to that of Ricky during Osimhen's era. No doubt about it but the picture you painted was one Ricky bigger than Yekini in that era. Far far from it. Now, you get the point. |

Despite that he shined immediately scoring 13 goals in his first season in Portugal. His case pale in comparison with what you are saying. See below his first season before his team was relegated.
