Lanretoye: I don’t subscribe to acquiring afford for over a £100m and you can’t invest €1m in Remo stars after coming to Nigeria to enjoy fame and such hospitality. People quoting me on this comment should just understand that the money may not necessarily be an investment but a way of giving back to the people of Nigeria cos that act will still give the local club more publicity internationally and improve the local league to an extent, that’s the power of our celebrities and they can use their capacity to build our brand.when ahmed Musa came back to Kano pillars it wasn’t about the money he wanted to make but the support for the club. Remo star is owned by a billionaire and it is well funded. You don enter their stadium before? Well equipped. Perhaps, he can invest in another Nigerian club but Nigerian league must change its way. Ban government from owning a club and see what will happen. Government involvement in football league is the albatross of underdevelopment of the league. |

It is a welcome development. Nevertheless, the welfare of the citizenry is very critical at this moment.
The minimum wages of 70,000 naira should be replaced with pay per hour.
Nigerians are being used as slaves by their employers. |

vaxx: You are actually wrong, five cedis is the old 50, 000 cedis not 5000. Now let me convince your brain , when Ghana was using that old price , Ghanaian purchasing power was way higher so that 50,000 cedis is just a single paper note .
This is expected not to stressed an average Ghanaian out.
Similar case is reported in Japan and China where they have their money in volumes but it doesn't affect their purchasing power.
For you to know a country citizens spending power , look into their purchasing power. For you to check on their poverty level , look at the GDP per Capital. In all this, Ghana has left Nigeria behind Your are right about 5 Cedis was equivalent to 50,000 Cedis then and now. Imagine using 50,000 naira to buy a bottle of Coke just like you are doing with 50,000 Cedis to buy Coke now. Mr man, Ghanaians know the truth. The inflation is that country is worse. Now, I know naira has been dismantled due to removal of subsidy but I still know the real value of naira is underrated. It should be 700 per dollars but some mischievous people are destroying the currency. The president knows what to do but he is thinking about reelection so he doesn't want to step on toes otherwise I don't see reason there should be exchange of foreign currency over the counter. The day CBN governor stops people from collecting foreign currency deposited in the domiciliary account js the day dollar will crash. Anyone who deposit foreign currency in a domiciliary account should not be allowed to collect back in dollar. Instead, naira should be given. You can use your credit card to transfer money abroad if you want to buy or pay for something. Anybody who wants cash must provide his visa and flight ticket. However, he will collect the money ones he checked in at the airport from the bank. |

vaxx: Yes, with the redenomination, we now coke with a unit cons 5 cedis. Even when it was in thousands cedis , Ghana purchasing power make it avoidable. So not a biggy 5 Cedis is 5,000 Cedis actually. Imagine using 5k to buy Coke. That Cedis is overrated. |

Yet the value remain the same

vaxx: good investment for Dangote foresight.
100 cedis is now 12 thousand naira and 10,000 cedis is now 1.2 million naira.
There is a whole of money to recoup back home for Dangote and a good job opportunity Ghanaian youth. A win win for both countries 100 cedis is 10,000 cedis. 10,000 Cedis is 1,000,000 Cedis. I am just remembering you about the 3 zeros yanked out of your denomination. |

GeneralDae: What is Excess crude account? Do you know what it means? Besides, Nigeria has stopped maintaining excess crude account for long (almost a decade now) because it’s irrelevant since crude oil production has been below all budget targets since 2014, so it’s not a new phenomenon. NSIA is the focus and they had a whopping growth in 2024.
I shouldn’t be doing this with you but… The olodo rabata doesn't know that that account is illegal and no longer functioning because the Supreme court of Nigeria has ruled against it. |

vaxx: Since you don't know or failed to know. The continue reason for naira falls is linked to shortage of dollars and the declining rate of foreign reserve. There is not enough dollar with CBN to cushion the effect of dollar on the naira in the major market. And they are even more to it. But make I just stop there.
Now you know . Naira is not just fallen as a control measure , it is fallen due to above mentioned crisis . More Nigerian has become more poorer Keep quiet. Naira fell to 1,600 naira now because of shortage of dollars, to you, right? Maybe you were living in space when Nigeria devalued her currency for economic reasons. Oga, Nigeria's foreign reserve is about $40b and they have cleared all fx foreign backlogs of $7b. Boasting investors confidence to trooping into the country. Besides, there's no shortage of dollars in Nigeria. The problem is this people has dollarized the economy. In addition to speculators working hard to destroy the naira for economical gains. Dollar rate in Nigeria is man made. Nevertheless, we can't ignore the fact that this current administration is working hard to bring lasting economic reforms for lasting stability. |

vaxx: Argentina is currently considering dollarization , they understand it is a sure way to curb inflation.
Peso is not under significant threat as naira , peso absorbed more external shocks than naira. Peso falls is part of economic reform effort, which might lead to stabilization in the long run, naira' problem are issues like oil dependency and foreign exchange shortages.
You can't compare orange and apple, they are both different types of fruit.
Naira is facing the same issue with Egyptian pounds ( foreign exchange shortages ). See this hypocrite. Who in Nigeria or world don't know that naira depreciation is part of economic reforms and devaluation which might lead to stabilization in the long run? Most of you don't think. You just come here to argue blindly. |
