* It's not the issue of poverty. There are lots black South Africans in the UK and China...btw illegal jumping of borders is not travelling if you know what I mean
* Americans and Chinese are running businesses.Comparing them with economic migrants from Africa is downright ridiculous and you know it. Which business are the Chinese running? They are not different from economic migrants from Africa. You have learnt today. |

Abohboy: The reason why there are no super tall skyscrapers in Eko Atlantic, is because the project is being executed in phases. And there are height restriction laws in specific parts of the project. But Kenyans probably wouldn’t understand that cause their cities are not made that way. There will be super tall Skyscrapers in Eko Atlantic in the nearest future. |

Shma: hey! I didn't say Lagos is learning from Nairobi but you can implement some few tactics like zoning law, codings and of course beautification (greenery to be precise ) . Lagos is developed but some sections especially your island and the shanty thatched areas is letting your reputation down. And please forgiveness. A skyscraper can cater for Residence hence why shouldn't it be called a Residencial block?.. We have zoning laws and if you see skyscrapers(which are apartments) protruding to some areas, just know all the laws are adhered to. Let's try numbers this time; You have 13 skyscrapers and 20, 80m+ We have 17 skyscrapers and relatively 30, 80+ Whose skyline dominates? Oga! Zoning law, coding and beautification are already in existence ever before Kenya received independent. Did I hear you say the Island is letter Lagos down? Bhuhahahaha! You don't know anything. Lagos Islands are far more developed and beautiful than any city in East Africa. That's an undiluted fact. Where are the shanties in Island in Lagos? Show me. Your zoning law is ineffective. Here in Lagos, you can't build anyhow. There are height limits in some residential and commercial areas where you must build according to specification. Skyscrapers are not allowed in some parts of Islands and in some parts, you must not build more than certain height or floors. Just recently, the law ammended to allow Ikoyi and Victoria Island build Skyscrapers in some areas. The reasoning Skyscrapers are springing up recently but there is limit. But Nairobi is free for all. Skyscrapers surrounding some low rise. How will they get fresh air? That doesn't make sense. Don't compare. Lagos is more advanced than Nairobi. Where did you get the bolded from? |

Shma: In Kenya, there was no planning and building by-laws prior to 1926 when the first building bye-laws were introduced the other towns had little or no building by-laws. Following the heavy influx of settlers into Kenya after the First World War, the British colonial authorities introduced public health legislation and building controls for the rapidly growing towns of Nairobi and Mombasa where the zoning started to take shape, during the period from 1929-1931 . This legislation was naturally based upon the British system both with regard to the regulations themselves and their means of application. The public control of the building process was extended further by the introduction of the Town Planning Act of 1931, and the Nairobi City Council introduced its own Building By-laws (Planning) in 1948. In 1968 the Local Government (Adoptive By-laws) were introduced as a national building code which could be adopted by any local authority in the country These bye-laws are also commonly known as the Building codes. So as you can see its decades since we implemented the zoning law. The reason our Our CBDs realm puts Lagos in the shade as far as aethesitic and the Buldings codes layout is factored in. Hey! I didn't say stinks, but of course the realm of makoko stinks to the high heaven. , anyway, I meant stings. The lofty guys in diaspora won't feel safe when the stings of 'makoko-outlook' keeps injecting them on the section of reputation. Skyscrapers: we have done this since time immemorial and we already established that Nairobi had 17 skyscrapers and in the ball park of 30, 80+. On the other hand nigeria had 12 skyscrapers with 20, 80+. . Renovating your existing park is the info under the SDG/MDG programs. Do you want to see Buldings-shanties integration ?and I said Many good quality buildings are interspersed across the areas where shanties and other ugly facades structures were protruding. Here is what am talking about I thought you said Lagos is learning from Nairobi. Thank God you have swallowed your word. The rest you said is just to save face. Which CDB? If your CDB is planned why are you converting those residential areas to accommodate skyscrapers? Who dash Nairobi 17? Can you list them, I want to show you something? Skyscrapers are springing up in Lagos too. Lagos has more high-rise buildings than the whole Kenya. |

Shma: The form based codes can only be effective if you have zoning law. You have only implemented that in few areas where the initiate to revive your city has take shape, talk of the new Eko Atlantic and Lekki area. You're now doing what Nairobi did in decades time and still mastering on it. meanwhile, Lagos State government has now realized the benefits of greenery they are actually renovating existing parks and green areas, with a long-term goal of expansion. Many good quality buildings are interspersed across the areas where shanties and other ugly facades structures were protruding. Nice move though, that's the spirit. . The fore-and-aft tect of most of your bulding including your tallest structure is not appealing at all. the spires and antenna that supports its aesthetic condition has worsen everything. I can site few examples of what am talking about, I guess this debate will hold water if we bake it up with pics. I just want you to observe the final facade of what I'm talking about. The realm of upperhill will speak volume. On the lagoon part;, you can't be proud of the same section when your state has failed to maintain, is it not the same lagoon that stings the entire Lagos to the high abroad? . Anyway I will let that slide cos slum is not the subject course. Skyscrapers; having skyscrapers ahead of us will not dispute the fact that your skyline can't match Nairobi., the entire real and realm of your city is not mind boggling to the strangers eye when skyline is figured out. The few skyscrapers you have no one can match those in Nairobi in terms of quality., remember the aesthetic is one aspect that is aided by them and one of our structures once received emboris award. Take a look. Zoning law was established as far back as 1863. Nairobi wasn't in existence as at then but you think Lagos is just doing that. Besides, don't forget Lagos was the capital of Nigeria until the 90s. Renovating existing parks? When? Where did you get that information from? Show me good buildings are intercepting with shanties in Lagos. Who told you the state has failed to maintain the Lagoon? Lagos stinks? Are you deceiving yourself? How many Skyscrapers do Nairobi has more than Lagos? |

POKUASI2: Daily minimum wage is 10:62 peswas.. now, if you multiple that by say average 29 days, that give around 55 dollars a month. And this so called minimum wage isn't truly implemented cos in most cases, the employer decides how much you're paid.. for instance, I know a girl who is a pre- school teacher in Adabraka and she's paid ghc250 a month.. so, if the so called minimum wage is implemented, why would she be paid ghc250 Chaiii! no wonder the guy no gree talk am.
