@ Frag,

Hillary could still have followed protocol, walked on any carpets(whether red, yellow or brown, like it makes any difference) and she should have waited to have your thieving politicians under one roof and given them a piece of her(The US government's) mind.
I am actually dissappointed as I had already hoped to see how those senators would be shifting uncomfortably in their seats while Hillary would be giving them lessons on good governance
The problem was that the carpet na corruption carpet. Its is glaring that those politicians are not the real representavives of the Nigerian pple and the world knows that too.

America does not need 9ja. fine then she shdnt have visited in the first place. but once she has visited, she shd at least show some respect. look, she like her other white folks do not respect the black race. they smile on the outside, but are monsters within.

they cud as well 4get about dealin with Africa all together, we will deal with China morever their goods are cheaper and cud help bring down inflation.
Why couldn't we produce the things we are buying from China?

1. 9ja is bad and all and cud even be on the way to disintegration, but that does not give hillary or wateva her name is the right to disrespect the ppl of 9ja.

2. I guess she walked on the red carpet given her in DR Congo a country that has already disintegrated, and in 9ja she side stepped it. wat a 2 timing hypocrite she is.

3. Funny lil white girl, she thinks she is Obama. Obama can come to Africa and criticize us without any apology cos he is a son of the soil and so therefore has every right to do so.

4. Ok lets say hillary wants to criticize, she can feel free and do so. but she should not stoop so low to a level of disrespectin the ppl of the land. with this I say she is one of the worse diplomats the world has ever had.
Its sad you feel that way. She hasn't disrespected me nor has she disrespected the Nigerian people. I sincerely appreciated her effort.
At what point would you start to understand that we need help from ourselves-the thieving politicians?
Or are you proud of the fact that our thieving politicians has made it impossible for us to refine our own oil for domestic use instead of importing it?
Four decades after independence were are still struggling with everything. We have so many politicians wanting to steal from what belongs to u and i. Its just so sad that you feel that way.

Wow what a story, very hard to believe because i thought the maximum amount of money you can wire overseas from the USA is $5000! I even tried to send $5400 to Nigeria for a project before and i was denied by western union. I was told that the federal regulations do not permit any amount over $5000. I was told it's another tool the federal government is using to prevent money laundering. I very much doubt that you can send $10000 at once. Naija people and lies sha.

kpofkpof:
What is all these unneccessary talks about Intercontinental Bank? What has Akingbola done to deserve all these?'

Its not by force to get the new chip and pin card, you can operate your account without an ATM card if you wish. Intercontinetal bank was the first to get this new secured chip and pin card in line with CBN directive and instead of you giving them Kudos, you come here to open your stupid mouth (fingers) to say such things about them.

the bank is trying to reduce the rate of fraudsters on this on the magnetic stripe cards and that is why they introduced the more secured type, but if the 500 naira is a big deal, tell them you are not interested.

If you are following trend of things, even in the UK, US etc, they are trying to fight fraud, they are introducing and re-introducing all measures in place to curtail fradulent activities. Intercontinental is trying to safe guard your money- get that into your dead brains.

And to you- Cornel 318, overdue charges means that you are currently enjoying a loan facility with them, and at one time you defaulted and if you default, you must be penalised.

please please and please, leave Intercontinental and other commercial banks alone. If you are not happy with the Banks in Nigeria, please put your kobo kobo savings under your bedbugged pillows
I read your post and just wondered why you will put such up having said you are not a staff. Everyone gets money in different ways, while it might be easy for you,it may not be that easy for others.
Why should a bank charge you extra for making your money more secured? What service would they render to you for free then?
They charge you for using your card
They charge you for using your cheques
They charge you for transactions on your account
They charge you for transferring your money and now your saying its ok for them to charge for changing your cards to chip and pin?
I think its parasitic and very wrong. The financial services need to sort them out.
Banks in other parts of the world don't make money in these cruel manners. They need to be told that bank makes money by investing money and not by being a parasite on their unfortunate customers.

It has little or nothing to do with maturity but cowardice.
I said Nigerians because i meant majority. Nairaland doesn't constitute a majority neither is the number of educated Nigerians. To achieve a revolution, you need the majority to agree that there is a need for change and are willing to effect it come what may. There is a vast number of Nigerians who can not be bothered about effecting such change because they are yet to see the need for it. Many uneducated Nigerians who still belief that the government are some kind of demi-gods. Others are benefiting from the present situation.
You need all these people in order to have that majority.

You do not truly believe that or do you?
PoliticsRe: Naira Slumps As Nigerian Central Bank Aims To Protect Reserves by frag(m): 2:24pm On Aug 07, 2009
Simply put, there is so much Naira chasing a dollar. Therefore making Naira lose its value as compared to dollar. You could also devalue your currency to stimulate export as in the case of china and our neighbor Ghana. The Naira would have been fine as it is if only we have other things to export apart from the God forsaken crude oil.

Kobo, i am really disappointed with your comments.
these are the kind of comments i expect from foreigners in CNN air conditioned studios who do not know the reality on the ground in Gidi and other parts of naija.
i have voted on more than one occassion and my result was rendered useless by thuggery, fraud and rigging of colossal proportion.
i know of an election venue where a well known militant (those that claim they are fighting a just cause in ND) came with some sophisticated stuff dangling off his shoulder and said the following;
'hey everybody here, i want one line'.
'na only PDP dey for here, one line o!'
everyone proceeded to form one line, the returning officer or whatever crap they are called, counted everyone in the line (of course there was no descent), everyone thumb printed for the ruling party. he jumped into his waiting car and everyone scampered to safety.
i presume he moved on to the next polling booth.
yet you say we have done nothing to solve the democratic equation?
na my blood remain before you accept that we have tried?
do you expect me to go vote again tomorrow?
.

So what are you gonna do? Siddon for house make hunger kill you abi?

Look at the documentary on the partition of India and Pakistan and u will get an insight into the pain and suffering it brought to the people, today must QS the rational behind it.

Everybody has a right to their opinions, thats one thing you can not take away. On here, pple are suppose to relate intellectually.Put your point across and i will do the same. One thing you can be sure to find here is different opinions. I said what i said because of most threads i have read and my experience with Igbos generally. If you think otherwise then just prove me wrong. For your information, average doesnt mean everyone. Am sorry if it didnt go down well with you but you need to develop tolerance for other pple's opinions.

@Jumobi1
If you run from a problem, you will end up being a running man all you life.  I know a couple of pple from different ethnic groups throughout the country and i know the threat and problems we face are the same. Corruption, unemployement and many more. The Igbos has been marginalized and so has others. This is not to glorify marginalization against the Igbos or any ethnic group cos it is right for all of us to be treated justly and fairly. I wouldnt say that because the Niger-deltans have been unjustly treated they should go their way,i fully support their struggle and also believe that their struggle should start from their states because just like we have bad politicians at the federal level we have so much more at the state and local government levels. Marginalisaton is not the reason why your state governors are mismanaging your funds or is it?
So please quit this talk about breaking up and lets face these thieving politicians
PoliticsRe: Converstaion Of A Yoruba Man & Igbo Man In London by frag(m): 11:54am On Aug 04, 2009
Everyone in Nigeria faces the same problem- corrupt politicians. If the Igbos wants to go they need to find the most peaceful way to do it. We all know breaking up can never be a good solution but if they cant see it then they are free to leave peacefully. There are as much thieving politicians in iboland as there are in the Yoruba land. The problem is not the guy on nairaland with different opinion to yours but the politicians. Corruption,as you and i know is the reason why things hasn't worked and- in my opinion-it is wrong to continuously believe that breaking up will solve these problems.
