lord have mercy ! lord have mercy !.! lord have mercy !.!.! wow ! unbelievable ,bo.b.b.y displays @ it peak, take your time to digest this : Hundreds of women in Kafanchan and surrounding villages , on hearing the news, took to the streets bare-b.r.e.a.s.t.e.d to protest the killing and the incessant attacks on their villages. They also deplored what they regarded as the failure of the security agents to protect them and at the same time busy arresting their children. The protesters demanded the immediate release of those in security detention. An eye witness told The Nation on the phone that the protesting women “are coming from Kafanchan town, Kanikon village, Ungwan Rimi, Katsit, Takau, Ungwan Masrara and other villages around Kafanchan on foot. I don’t know who is coordinating them. But I can see that they are not wearing any clothes over their chest. I have never seen this kind of thing in my life. “They are singing Christian funeral songs and carrying placards. They are saying that soldiers are killing their youths and raping their daughters. They say that soldiers are aiding and abetting the attacks on their communities by Fulani gunmen. They say they don’t want any soldier in Southern Kaduna again. The state Commissioner of Police, Ballah Nasarawa, who has temporarily relocated his office to Kafanchan to take charge of security in the area confirmed the two incidents. The police boss said: “It is true that some women are protesting against what has been happening here since peace left this town. But it is a peaceful protest. It is not true that all of them are leaving their b.r.e.a.s.t.s uncovered. Many are wearing their clothes complete. But some have refused to cover their b.r.e.a.s.t”. unbelievable ! unbelievable ! ! I pray that God will give this vulnarable ,vulnerablennocent spec.ies justices . wow ! who ever is the reason that will make hundreds of women walk without covering their b.o.b.b.y will never go free, this people are tired and all those sponsors of this killings in this countyr willcountrysee peace untill they " go and beg " for forgiveness from these women. lord have mercy ! |

Throwing light on the latest attack,a resident said: “When we heard gunshots, we thought it was soldiers shooting to scare away people who might have been wandering about. But,later, we started hearing people shouting and calling for help. “That was when I knew that we were under attack. I woke up my family, and took them to safety. We then mobilised ourselves to go and rescue those under siege, while others were sent to inform the soldiers. “By the time we got there, we saw our chief shot and butchered. He was lying in a pool of his blood. His wife was still breathing, but with bullet wounds on her body. She died before she reached the hospital. “Our boys are chasing them right now, the Fulani. We know some of them. I have not seen any soldier here. It is over two hours since the attack. The group has imposed a strict version of Sharia law in areas under its control, including stoning to death women accused of adultery and amputating the hands of thieves. The group advocates the Saudi-inspired Wahhabi version of Islam, while most Somalis are Sufis. It was once Somlalia's breadbasket, but years of fighting forced farmers to flee. A-Shabab blames the lack of rains on Allah, and says people should pray for the drought to end. It has also urged people to return to their villages to plant crops, rather than becoming dependent on aid.

Who are Somalia's al-Shabab? Al-Shabab means The Youth in Arabic. It emerged as the radical youth wing of Somalia's now-defunct Union of Islamic Courts in 2006, as it fought Ethiopian forces who had entered Somalia to back the weak interim government. It has imposed a strict version of Sharia law in areas under its control, including stoning to death women accused of adultery and amputating the hands of thieves. The group advocates the Saudi-inspired Wahhabi version of Islam, while most Somalis are Sufis. Al-Shabab has destroyed a large number of Sufi shrines, causing its popularity to further plummet. And al-Shabab is battling to deal with a famine in six areas under its control. WFP) and several Western agencies from distributing aid in areas under its control, accusing them of having a political agenda. One of the famine-affected areas is Lower Shabelle. It was once Somlalia's breadbasket, but years of fighting forced farmers to flee. How much of Somalia does al-Shabab control? Al-Shabab At A Glance • "The Youth" in Arabic • Formed as a radical offshoot of the Union of Islamic Courts in 2006 • Affiliated to al-Qaeda • Killed 76 people in double attack in Uganda during 2010 football World Cup • Estimated to have 7,000 to 9,000 fighters It controls most of the south and centre, including the second city, Kismayo. Who is al-Shabab's leader? Ahmed Abdi Godane is the head of the group. He comes from the northern breakaway region of Somaliland. There have been reports of bulk of the group's fighters, estimated to number between 7,000 and 9,000. Mr Godane is rarely seen in public. His predecessor, Moalim Aden Hashi Ayro, was killed in a US airstrike in 2008. What are al-Shabab's foreign links? Al-Shabab pledges loyalty to al-Qaeda -identified as US citizen Abu Abdulla Almuhajir as he distributed aid to famine victims in Islamist-controlled territory. US officials believe that with al-Qaeda on the retreat in Afghanistan and Pakistan following the killing of Osama bin Laden, its fighters will increasingly take refuge in Somalia. Has al-Shabab carried out attacks outside Somalia? It was responsible for a double suicide bombing in Uganda's capital, Kampala, which killed 76 people watching the 2010 football World Cup final on television. The attack was carried out because Uganda - along with Burundi - provide the bulk of the 9,000 AU troops in Somalia. Neighbouring Djibouti and the western African state of Sierra Leone have promised to bolster the AU force to 12,000 by the end of 2011. Kenya said it had sent troops to Somalia because al-Shabab fighters had abducted two Spanish aid workers from the world's largest refugee camp, Dadaab. Analysts say the militants often enter and leave Kenya without being intercepted. Their fighters are said to even visit the capital, Nairobi, for medical treatment. Who are al-Shabab's backers? Eritrea is its only regional ally. It denies claims it supplies arms to al-Shabab. Eritrea supports al-Shabab to counter the influence of Ethiopia, its bitter enemy. With the backing of the US, Ethiopia sent troops to Somalia in 2006 to defeat the Islamists. What about the Somali government? The president is a moderate Islamist, Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed. He was elected in 2009 by the Somali parliament, sitting in neighbouring Djibouti. It could not convene in Somalia because of the violence. It was hoped that he would be able to achieve peace with al-Shabab, but the group simply denounced him as a traitor and a puppet of foreign powers. Somalia is pretty much a failed state. It has not had an effective national government for about 20 years, during which much of the country has been a constant war-zone. This made it easy for al-Shabab, when it first emerged, to win support among Somalis. It promised people security - something they welcomed. But the on-going fighting has knocked al-Shabab's credibility. A-Shabab blames the lack of rains on Allah, and says people should pray for the drought to end. It has also urged people to return to their villages to plant crops, rather than becoming dependent on aid. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-15336689 |

The suspects are co tenant of the deceased pupil who attends a private school in Oke Aro area of Akure. Sources in Akure informed Vanguard that the deceased pupil after he was murdered was thrown in the bush at Adofure farm, some kilometres away from Akure, the state capital. Godwill was said to have drew the ire of the suspects following his refusal to allow them play with his handset. It was gathered that on close examination, it was discovered that bruises were all over the body of the deceased. Owerri – Gov. Rochas Okorocha of Imo on Monday agreed to pay N20,000 as minimum wage to workers in the state, with effect from April. The governor who broke the news during an interactive session with the workers in Owerri, however, said the arrears would be paid in instalment. The announcement by the governor generated wild cheers from the workers, who had been expectant of an agreement on the new wage. Okorocha, appreciated the hardship workers went through in taking full responsibility of their families, stating that “the N18,000 national minimum wage cannot sustain a worker with a family in the present economic realities in the country”.
