Kaliningrad:Russia is a big embarassment. Nuclear weapon aside, Ukraine would have batted Russia aside. Even with the restrictions to weapons Ukraine is allowed to use in Russia and Russia receiving North Korean, chinese and iranian gadgets plus 10s of thousands of troops from North Korea, the frontline is largely a stalemate. Take this your propaganda to X. You will find people dull enough to believe it. |
Jamesclooney:I am not in either field either, but facing the prospect of being locked in a 10-year restrictive visa (during which there is likely to be more changes before the 10 years is up) and being on a temporal visa that would need to be renewed every few years, for me it is a wakeup call to seriously consider the alternatives. You also need to consider the fact that on the balance of probabilities you are more likely to have a breakdown in a relationship with your employer or a more servitude-like conditions once your employer realises they have to put up with you for 10 years and not many other other employers can offer you a SWV on a high salary band. I also dont intend to renounce my Nigerian citizenship. You can sit tight and be slow-boiled, or you can smell the coffee and seek out what your alternatives are as a back up plan at least |
Goke7:ILR reform has promised to scrap! The way the UK is now, spend less, stockpile on cash to give yourself the possibility to explore an alternative course of action. Avoid any long term investment that cannot be salvaged or easily exited. Very cruel and little sense in locking people into a restrictive SWV for 10years & that is not even the worse thoughts out there. They are threatening more restrictions! Last, last many of their changes will push many of the tax paying migrants who are not dependent on benefits away and leave then stuck with the one they house and pay a stipend to from day 1. Since they have been aggressively pushing these policies, legal migration has declined rapidly while illegal migration has increase sharply. Common sense should have prevailed that the approach isnt right, but not here. |
bigtt76:Not just that. Most of them are brought on humanitarian or asylum visas are immediately settle on benefits as they do have a strong grasps of the language or market skill set. Rather than Zia Yusuf to call out his people, he would rather create the impression that migrants in general are benefit scroungers. Someone who supports women wearing burqa, claim recent migrants are unitegrated and benefits scroungers? Is any of the burqa wearing women he supports integrated or working ? |
tensazangetsu20:You've been blessed by God in Chile, there are many blessed by God in the UK and other European...leave the noise they make on nairaland about everybody doing minimum wage jobs, same way there are those doing minimum wage jobs in Chile. Regardless, using an objective metric of wealth per head as capital income adjusted by PPP or Human Development Index, Chile falls well behind any Western European country. Its good you are updating us on Chile. If the UK become too tiring, we will come join you in Chile. |
tensazangetsu20:It's good you caveated it....Chile is not in the top twenty of per capita income or the human development index. |
Igbamatigbi:Tricky but not impossible, especially in the current climate..bank may require a high deposit to hedge against the risk that your visa is not extended. If you can get a cosigner with a longer duration or confirmation that the extension is very likely, it may help. |
Goke7:Expect Reform to clap back at Labour by targeting another "minority" or "vulnerable" group. There is not much milk left in the immigration thing. They need to pick another issue that can evoke strong opinion to keep the polling high. |
NosyNursy:Do you have 2 jobs or irregular earnings from another source?...it looks like you are being assessed to the higher tax rate without any tax-free allowance If HMRC is unsure about what you're total income would be due to an extra income, they may assess it to the higher tax rate without tax-free allowance. Contact them if your total annual income will fall below this band or else leave it. |
Zocalite:No exaggeration here. All my mates who passed the exam about 10 years back are senior managers and directors in top companies across the world today. Most were already managers in well-respected companies in 4-6 years...and we all came from very humble backgrounds and did not have any connections. If you are hardworking, studious and resilient. Add ICAN to your portfolio of skills and certificates, and it will unlock doors you never knew existed. I am talking from experience...not theory. Forget the few ICAN members that you may have seen and that you were not impressed with. Also, it takes a bit of time something to unlock the full potential the certificate affords you. I wont be arguing this on NL. I am just telling you hard facts. |
thorpido:It was likely on her bucket list and she considered it could be bought with money and influence. To be fair, in the finance world, ICAN is more highly regarded than ANAN. That said, she could have gone for ACCA which is also well respected, but more flexible. |
DeJoeee:After learning your prompt AI accounting in 48hours, put it on your CV and go apply for a job or go and put it on your Upwork account and get a remote job online.....goodluck |
Haydens:This is why many youths complain the country is hard Writing an ICAN exam is one of the best investments you can make as a youth corper. Consult widely before drawing your conclusions. ICAN changed my life and all the mates that wrote it with me (100%) are doing very very well. I cannot think of any other professional membership that provides the leverage ICAN does on the scale it does. |
Away from politics. Someone doing a kitchen makeover has asked me if I would like to take the old fittings. They all look in very good condition & our kitchen size and layout looks similar, but I doubt they are identical. How easy is it adapting one kitchen fittings to another? From experience, it it often cost-effective to take an offer like this? How easy is it to find a tradesman who would do the adaptation? |
Goke7:Anyone potentially affected should take a brace position and plan alternatives. The UK is ultimately going to become more nationalist with minorities and vulnerable groups being scapegoated even by Labour as they are chasing the tailwind of reform. I expect Labour to roll out some very restrictive policies against legal migrants in the coming weeks to try to take the wind out of Reforms sail. Ultimately, everyone other than the stereotypical white British will likely be hammered and blamed at some point in time as nationalists gain in the polls. The UK's path to a turnaround is likely to be in the events that the US strong rightwards swings result in severe economic and social setbacks much like UK's experience with Brexit became a lesson for other right-wing parties in Europe to shelve the idea of leaving the EU. |
What is the average transaction cost for taking up a public offer e.g in case of Sterling IPO. Since the IPO and market price are similar, I guess the sweetner could only be the difference in the transaction charge? |
essentialone1:By the looks of things, the answer is yes. Hopefully, we get more insurance announcing the recapitalisation plans over the coming weeks. |
leo1234:Has not opened |
Insurance recapitalisation on going.

LordBiden:Nigeria my country. An ex governor whose monthly salary is no more than 2-3 miliion monthly at any point in time has amass properties worth billions in upscale US towns..not counting the properties in Nigeria. His supreme court justice wife, salary no more 2million monthly has the property registered in her name. His kid attends some of the best schools abroad, he doesnt use any othe world class hospitals he built in Rivers to treat his ailment..he rather travel abroad. You in Nigeria, struggling with the factors in Nigeria, writing for God knows how much, that this situation makes sense. |
How should she have spoken modestly op? No point saying she spoke immodestly by arguing with a group of men without saying how she should have spoken. |
Others are discussing issues of national importance, these ones are hussling who deserved to seat on a chair. These tarditional institutions have long outlived their usefulness and should be scrapped. |
Nigeria shouldnt be importing from the US. Makes no sense after the trump tariff |
Doesnt matter how much she bought it, if she charged a client N26million and rendered service as promise, no case there. She is not to blame for buyers regret |
Diplomacy2020:Its due to thermal stress. It happens to newly installed glass panes where not enough gaps were left for expansion or impurities in the glass cause a fracturing of the pane as it expands at a different pace from the glass molecules. Most window and door installations comes with warranty period. If it is, get in touch and ask them to remediate it before insurance. |
Techie25:Loads of chilean and argentian are of european descent. Also, argentina was one of the wealthest countries in the world prior to ww2. Attracting loads of skilled workers and technology from europe which was at the forefront of the industrial revolution. Chilean and Argentina being neighbours, likely benefitted loads from the european skilled labour influx and associated techologies they brought much like the USA did also.
|
chimex38:The Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) has suspended, effective September 1, 2025, the trading of shares in three insurance companies: Regency Alliance Insurance Plc, International Energy Insurance Plc, and Universal Insurance Plc. |
Has probably been discussed here, but how common is it for insurance companies to be suspended?
|
No worries, Farage will also liberate the UK just as Trump is liberating its workers from their jobs.
|
For all the loathing of immigrants from "third-world countries", Trump has made some very good through passes to Africa. It is left for African governments to score the goal. The Feds in the US would have to agressively cut interest rate to combat a weakening US economy. A good incentive for capital and investors to flow from the US to countries with higher interest rate and stability. Hopefully, rate cuts & a weakened USD in the US will push more institutional investors to the NSE
|
Ibrahim505:Thanks chief, even the NGX webpage does not mention it

Na all these things de cos wahala for legal migrants
