Nonexisting1: I wanted to dismiss this as trolling but I've seen a lot of people with this mentality before. God bless you. When people abroad avoid responding to messages from people in Nigeria, some people think it is pride or arrogance. At one point, I realized that over 70–80% of the messages I received from people in Nigeria ended with a request for money, even from people I barely knew back when I was living there. At some point in time, my heart skips, when I get messages from people in Nigeria because I know I have to offend someone or part with cash. |

It’s already been well-discussed, but it’s worth repeating: plan carefully for what comes after your studies before choosing the UK as your destination.
The UK of today is not the UK of five years ago. Opportunities for new migrants have shifted dramatically.
Major headlines on key news outlets today are highlighting the sharp rise in international students seeking asylum as a way to overstay their visas, which has now become a major focus for the government.
Not worth it spending 15-20M to become an asylum seeker in the UK in my opinion.

Romance › Re: Everything You Heard About Dating Abroad As A Nigerian Man Is A Lie. by Fred2020: 4:50pm On Aug 26, 2025 |
tensazangetsu20: Honestly, if you’re still in Nigeria and have plans to relocate abroad, especially as a single man, I strongly advise staying single. The rumors you’ve heard about black men not being in demand abroad or not being loved are completely false.
Back in Nigeria, I was ugly. If I got a girl’s number, she would either block me or ignore my messages. My last girlfriend before leaving Nigeria was by sheer luck—I still don’t know how it happened. But when I moved abroad, it felt like I’d transformed into a supermodel. It got to the point where I had to delete my dating apps because I’m focusing on earning certifications to boost my income, and managing conversations with so many women became overwhelming. Even approaching women in real life yields the same results—if I approach 10 women, 8 of them want me as their boyfriend.
I can’t explain it, but if you’re a Nigerian guy and you’re single with plans to move abroad, preserve that status. The quality of women I’ve met in terms of beauty and their achievements is far beyond what I ever imagined getting back in Nigeria. Ladies abroad are fascinated the "traditional man" concept which is in scare supply in todays western society. A man not looking to split bills shamelessly and wont treat his wife in a gender-blind manner. Many western ladies also are not sure what to expect when they meet a darked-skinned person, probably because they have not interacted with many closely and hold presumptions based on baised media reporting. so when they get the chance to interact closely with one and find out you are witty or intelligent, they get blown away.....like they have met a superstar. I have noticed this quite often So if you are in a country where they havent met loads of dark-skinned people and arent strongly racists, you may have hit the jackpot as a single guy |

Midoskibal: Hi everyone,
Please I need advice. So I did forestry and wildlife as an undergraduate. But i heard its not really compulsory you do something related to your undergrad though I'll prefer to.
So i searched for high demand courses (degrees with the very high possibilities of securing a job in the uk related to my course of study and some courses popped out). E.g
*p. I’d advise you to strongly consider pursuing a master’s degree in a field that aligns with your marketable experience. Skilled visa-eligible roles typically require a certain level of experience, and policy trends are moving toward limiting entry-level or below-graduate roles for new immigrants. If your long-term plan is to secure residency through the skilled worker pathway, it’s worth reflecting carefully on this. There are immigrants who have secured visa sponsorships in roles such as chefs, while others with master’s degrees in high-demand fields like cybersecurity have still struggled to find employment. |

yMcy56: I know some people were just not happy Insurance Sector which they've so much detested are delivering in market....
Ordinarily the sector is much undervalued and, with the new good news, they should deliver well.
If banks can be transformed, so also insurance sector.
We continue to see how market handles this over time. In fact, the time is even shorter self. In my view, if July 2026 is the deadline, they should be discussing fundraising options and kicking off M&A talks ASAP. M&A deals take months to close, and the longer they wait, the pricier it’ll be to buy out rival competitors. I expect some to begin openly discussing their options this year or early next year. I'll be keep the bulk of my insurance stocks come what may, I have enough fat to take any temporal dip. |

Omooloriredade: Jeez!!! I have been trying to ignore the discussions on Chams RI for days now but mehn! The ignorance here can be mind-boggling. The problem is that some have not taken time to understand the workings of the market. For example....Who are the stakeholders? What does one entity do? You see people will have an issue with the Registrar or CSCS and be blaming Broker ...haha
Selling your Rights means relinquishing your exclusive right to buy shares of Chams at the offer price of N1.70 as an existing shareholder.
If you trade your Rights, you simply sold your "right" or "priviledge". No shares are involved. Buyer now needs to pay the N1.70 offer price having acquired your Rights.
Eg It will cost Iya N1 + N1.70 = N2.70 to acquire shares in Chams.
I assume Iya thinks the SP on the NGX will be well north of N2.70 by the time the offer closes otherwise, Iya might not know what they are doing either. Apologies if you find this insulting.
Those pricing the Rights at N2 or talking about selling their rights at same price clearly have no clue either. There is a reason investors that know what they are doing are not bidding to buy at that price on the floor......the bid on the heads (main shares) not withstanding.
Ideally, if you are an existing shareholder and you'd like to hold for medium to long term but don't intend to take up your rights, you should absolutely be selling the equivalent quantity of shares you qualify for on the floor. Part of the proceeds can then be used to take up your rights. Your holding remains the same with some spare change.
The scenario above changes if you are trading Chams or whatever other strategies you might have.
Disclaimer - I am no financial adviser so my post could be highly misleading. Please consult your financial adviser for advice. Not a recommendation to buy or sell. It doesnt make financial sense to buy just the right at N1 or N2 plus right price as that is already above the current market value of the share itself. |

Locotrader: No longer 31st December 2025? The tempo can now calm down. There will be second and third missionary journey in insurance stocks before July 2026 aaah, many insurance companies will exit the market if given just 4-5 months to recapitalise. 1 year sounds reasonable. |

Oasisblue: You are right. It's always a challenge balancing long-term focus(investor) and short-term gain(trading). I am experiencing the same thing with Aradel, where I have a substantial sum tied down without capital appreciation. I keep increasing my investment in the hope of averaging out my brek-even price, but seeing what is going on in the insurance sector, I feel like a fool now. Averaging down? Dangerous game if the breakout isn’t right around the corner. When you’re in a hole, stop digging. Personally, maintaining a diversified portfolio is safer.... skewed toward the picks by gurus on this platform admittedly. |

EDUECO: I repeat, banks like Zenith, Access,UBA,Stanbic, GTBANK,Fidelity,WEMA,Jaiz and First Bank will continue to declare profit every year from 2025 till 2075.
Banks make money every seconds from their physical office and online(this takes place 24 hours of the day).
Banking business is more lucrative than production of goods. If Nigeria’s economy became more productive and stable, banks would likely earn less. Today, they profit heavily from charges on basic services account maintenance, transfers, cards, alerts and from close political ties that ensure rules favor them in reviewing these prices upward even when the larger economy was slowing down. In developed economies, these services are free, and banks make money from core lending and investments. A stronger Nigeria would push banks toward real value creation, cutting easy, fee-based profits. |

Phlinx: Politely correct me if I am wrong but isn't it when it's going down you pick? Personally, I wouldn’t touch a stock that’s clearly on a downward trend. Otherwise, you’ll end up buying more just to average down your losses which is really just digging yourself deeper into a hole. In my opinion, it is a high-risk, high-reward way to trade. I prefer to enter at the early stages of its upward trend. |

Locotrader: Note that insurance stocks are in a bullish season. Those who can't watch their stocks doing 100% to pullback can sell and wait for a new support.
If you can endure pullback,no need to worry.
For Loco who does not like to loose 1kobo profit always like to repurchase what I sold at a new support average down.
This week is a pivotal week for Loco.
This time around,no body should say Loco did this Loco did that.
