Some buyers pushed Veritas’s price down last week probably to shake things up and take a position. Now, come Monday morning, they’ve flipped it into a near full-on bid. It appears the same game is being played with WAPIC.

faoogoke:any idea what the qualification date is? |
As predicted by Loco, the insurance bull continues |
Locotrader:I dont know how well poised Japaul is to exploit the international market, but Gold futures is at an all-time high - thanks to DJT

Streetinvestor2:After reviewing some of the so-called "weak" insurance companies, such as Veritas Kapital, I noticed a trend: while financial performance (particularly return on assets) may be poor, many of these firms are not highly leveraged. In my view, leverage not poor ROA alone is the key determinant of whether an insurance company is likely to exit the market during this recapitalisation phase. High leverage limits the ability to raise fresh capital and makes such firms unattractive for acquisition. These are the true high-risk candidates. By contrast, underperforming companies with large asset bases and modest leverage could be prime targets for acquisition or merger, especially by firms looking to scale operations quickly. Why? Because: Acquiring such a company offers instant access to a client base and market presence. It may be preferable to raising capital from scratch, particularly when speed matters. A stronger balance sheet can be retooled, but client lists and licenses are harder to replicate. Raising capital is relatively straightforward, especially for well-run companies. What’s harder is growing a scalable client base without diluting return on assets. Happy to know why you think otherwise. |
Streetinvestor2:The bus is still moving - now @2.09. You can still join it.

VERITASKAP trading at above 2.01. Sorry to the bloke who dropped off at that bus stop.

SohSoh:Ellah is clearly a business that seeks to sell itself as a business ubdergoing rapid positive transformation. Interesting it grew revenue from less than N1m in 2024 to N60m YTD. Also, it has biological assets worth N585million but also has a salary payable of N525million which I guess is likely intended to be primarily share-based compensation to senior exec...but still seems quite steep or probably premature given the revenue and biological asset value as at YTD. It makes me question how diverse and independent the board is. Also, the large portion of the asset value (over 80%) is down to N22billion of land (approx N15billion of this value was recognised in 2024 by a fair value adjustment - a 200% increase in land value). This would make me feel very uncomfortable if I were a long term investor. This adjustments were signed off by a small audit firm also. While it may have met ICAN criteria to audit and signed off the account, I would personally be uncomfortable relying on a 15billion naira revaluation gain being signed off by a small accounting firm.... |
2zona:Is anyone here cc'ed in this email or has some expo on it to share? Some of us are riding the insurance wave without a life jacket and would appreciate the advance advisory. |
Agbalowomeri:Had I fully heeded the prophets, I'd have gone all in on the insurance wave—head first and no life jacket. Thank God for the one leg I dipped in insurance, it is keeping my portfolio green. |
What is with the bloodbath in NGXGroup? From about 15% up 2 weeks back, I am 15% down now. Also, all banking stocks in my portfolio are down? |
Quick question, please. If a stock stays on full bid without any trade for the whole day, does the price move? |
One of the key risks to the ongoing stock market rally is the exchange rate, which has recently shown signs of weakness. Unfortunately, there is not much transparency around the forces influencing Nigeria’s exchange rate, leaving much of the conversation driven by speculation rather than hard data. The CBN loosening a lot of capital controls lately has been a confidence boost to inward investment but more needs to be done in making the data transparent. In a world where DJT has spook a lot of investors from the more established developed markets and oil continues to hold steady at above $70 a barrel. Markets like Nigeria can continue to big winners. The market can continue to boom till 2026 especially Nigeria seems to be tilting to a one party state & next election may be a formality. Bad for democracy, good for foreign investors. |
purity2all:I shock chief...anything insurance, people are packing it..technical or non-technically good. |
Fred2020:As suspected, insurance firms with large positive upsides are going into full bid
|
toyeoye:I will rather get into ones with positive upsides. I expect that is what int'l investors would also be checking. BTW, @chief Loco VERITASKAP has broken ranks
|
purity2all:The technical sentiments are flagged as poor
|
faoogoke:which ones? |
Locotrader:This is a high-risk game. Not worth it for us newbies. I'll stick with the "normal stocks" |
Locotrader:chief, I think Royalex is suffering manipulation due to its low market valuation, which has made it vulnerable to market manipulation or volatility. It almost turned full offer on Friday and now it is full bid on Monday....what a game |
The game with Royalex continues after it turning negtive last week Friday |
Raalsalghul:omo ale lo n fowo osi juwe Ile baba re {it is the bastard child to points to her home using her left hand. Her parents have failed her honestly. We cannot change where we come from and must never despise it. We must only strive to become the best. Her parents may have taught her the later but they failed to teach her the former. She is on cause to be a very inconsequential leader of the party. No matter how much she digs dip into culture wars and disparaging her ancestry, it would not win her votes with the voting base she is chasing. My shame is that Nigeria is blessed with some of the best and most talented population in Africa, thanks to its large & young population size. It is a shame that in the one that rose to the pinnacle of british politics is not the brightest one in the pack. |
ednut1:He is talking from his side of the table. He is an old man who has over the years leveraged on the life abroad to meet his basic needs. Now he is looking for a place he can easily socialised and be self actualised. Unfortunately for the old man, he doesnt realise what drives the younger generation (including his children) is different

budaatum:Yes, Devakumar is an engineer with limited experience in the petroleum refining business. |
Viruses:Yes, I see the risk, but I am bit concerned the longer the issue drags on the higher the chance he gets the bank to unblock his account through other means. |
Goodenoch:I havent considered this yet. I will see how feasible it in in being irrevocable, thanks |
