One of the key risks to the ongoing stock market rally is the exchange rate, which has recently shown signs of weakness.

Unfortunately, there is not much transparency around the forces influencing Nigeria’s exchange rate, leaving much of the conversation driven by speculation rather than hard data.

The CBN loosening a lot of capital controls lately has been a confidence boost to inward investment but more needs to be done in making the data transparent.

In a world where DJT has spook a lot of investors from the more established developed markets and oil continues to hold steady at above $70 a barrel. Markets like Nigeria can continue to big winners.

The market can continue to boom till 2026 especially Nigeria seems to be tilting to a one party state & next election may be a formality. Bad for democracy, good for foreign investors.

She is on cause to be a very inconsequential leader of the party. No matter how much she digs dip into culture wars and disparaging her ancestry, it would not win her votes with the voting base she is chasing.

My shame is that Nigeria is blessed with some of the best and most talented population in Africa, thanks to its large & young population size.

It is a shame that in the one that rose to the pinnacle of british politics is not the brightest one in the pack.

He is an old man who has over the years leveraged on the life abroad to meet his basic needs. Now he is looking for a place he can easily socialised and be self actualised.

Your options are limited. You leave the account blocked you may not get the money, unblock it and you will not get the money. So leaving it blocked increases your chances of getting the money because he is loosing too.

He is a trades person and can make money to pay you by receiving payments from other clients using another account.

Yes, I see the risk, but I am bit concerned the longer the issue drags on the higher the chance he gets the bank to unblock his account through other means.

Ask him to pay you from elsewhere and get his money back once his account is unblocked.

Under no circumstances should you ask the bank to unblock it because once you do you will not have any further recourse. He, on the other hand, has 100% confidence of getting his money once he pays you.

One thing though - can he not give a written instruction to the bank to pay you first and then you withdraw the complaint and his account will be unblocked?

I havent considered this yet. I will see how feasible it in in being irrevocable, thanks

I'm currently dealing with a tricky situation and would appreciate any advice on how best to proceed.

I unfortunately found myself dealing with a rogue tradesperson who has failed to show up for the agreed work and has become increasingly difficult to reach to confirm any start date.

I paid him a deposit via bank transfer. Luckily, after I reported the issue as suspected fraud, the bank froze his account.

He’s now saying that once the account is unblocked, he will refund me, as the funds are still in the account. While that might sound reasonable on the surface, I no longer trust that he’ll follow through if I inform the bank the issue is resolved and his account is unblocked.

I informed the bank about this and they mentioned they cannot guarantee he would pay if I agree to have his account unfrozen.

Any suggestions or experience dealing with his?

Are there commissions or fees to be paid when a rights issue is exercised?

At the current share price, UBA is cheaper in the open market than the rights issue.

I wonder if that changes when transaction charges are considered?

It's a sad reality for some families. Some watch their kids go astray before their very eyes and are unable to do anything about it because the only sure way they know that will set such kids straight will get them (the parents) in trouble with "the authority" here. Really sad.

One thing I learnt quickly here is to completely forbid words like hit, beat, knock, hurt being said in the house.

It's one thing to avoid discipline as a contact-sport at home, but it's another to ensure that even mild forms of discipline are correctly worded by the kids. I think the latter is actually what gets more parents in trouble—not necessarily the severity of the action.

I have a 2-year-old who actively copies what his older brother (who's 5) says.

The kids are often completely unaware of the implication of what they say and how it might be interpreted in the environment they're in. Better to forbid those words at home so they dont by a slip-of-tongue use them outside to describe their experience at home.

When you use your card as you would normally, pay up the balance monthly leaving no unpaid balance.

The bank is less concerned about your credit card debt if it is fully paid monthly.

Speaking from a place of knowledge as I have handled some of these. If you need the father’s consent then that’s no more sole custody/responsibility and therein nullifies the court order for sole custody.
That also means father must be contacted concerning everything for the child.
In child custody stuff, sole custody means one parent gets to make all the important decisions about the kid’s life and the kid mostly lives with that parent. The other parent might still get to visit or stay in touch, but they usually can’t make big calls about things like school or healthcare.
Sole responsibility further streamlines this. Only the one parent is RESPONSIBLE for the child and makes ALL the decisions.
Sadly, your information is GROSSLY incorrect and should be disregarded. Child’s father’s consent will damage this application 1000% more. Cheers.

I’m not suggesting the decision has to be a joint one, and I’m not fully aware of how the law interprets sole custody and the associated rights.

However, the relationship between a parent and a child is a lifelong one — whether the other parent likes it or not. It is fundamentally wrong for one parent to make significant decisions that could materially hinder the other parent’s ability to maintain a meaningful relationship with the child, without involving or informing them in the process.

The key word here is inform/involve the other parent, not necessarily to seek their consent. This is the morally right thing to do, and it is also the right thing to do in the best interest of the child.

If op had done this, the visa application would likely have been successful.

One parent should never weaponise child custody rights against the other.

They are meant to protect the well-being of the child — not to serve as a tool for punishment, control, or revenge between parents.

Regardless, I wish op success in her appeal

You don’t know the level of the father involvement in her life, the child in question is 9 years old, she is able to know her right and left. I can boldly tell you she doesn’t recognize her father, that's because he doesn’t care and he has never bn involve in her life
I left Nigeria 2years ago he never went to her to visit her Knowles fully well I’m not around, so how is my move affect a relationship that wasn’t there

He may be a bad father, but he is still a father—even if only in name. Sadly, that’s not something you can undo or rewrite at this stage.

If you are taking a major decision that could affect his ability to meaningfully interact with his child now or in the future, he needs to be carried along or at least informed.

The ECO is right here.
