Always looking for the easy way out. The same man that presided over the loss of bakassi and was scared stiff of his masters up North he had to authorise Sharia laws in Nigeria. Think of it. A private business going direct to our senate to lobby a business in broad day light!. This would be treason in countries like China.
What this man ought do is check out government policies and ride on the wind of any policy favourable to his business interest, not going to our senate to lobby for partnership for business deals. Should the senate make a special law for him and Dangote before he invest in Nigeria?.

I often find this sentiment profoundly silly not because I have much regard for PDP but because of what it reveals about Nigerians' lack of perspective. PDP came into power in 1999, the Nigeria of pre-1999 was an odious calamity. You often find people who either don't remember the Nigeria of those days or were kids/young at the time and had no real knowledge of the actual state of affairs then, basing their analysis on the notion that PDP is the root cause of our problem. They do so because PDP is all they have known in their adult life.

Nigeria was messed up before PDP was formed, therefore, what is wrong with Nigeria transcends PDP. This is a 55 year old country which has been dysfunctional from the beginning. You can keep deluding yourself that regurgitating political characters from the past, so long as they are not PDP, is the path to a new beginning but that is the height of self-deception. I predict that we will be dissapointed just as we have been for 55 years. In 8 years time, people who are infants or teens today will proclaim that our problem is mainly attributable to APC. We will never learn.

The decision to suspend the Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Sanusi Lamido was based on a report of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria dated June 7, 2013.

The report was made after a review of Sanusi’s response to the query issued to him by the President over the apex bank’s financial statement of 2012. His response was dated May 20, 2013.

According to a copy of the report obtained by our correspondent on Thursday, the council indicates that the explanation provided by the suspended CBN governor is “a clear display of incompetence, nonchalance, fraud, wastefulness, and abuse of due process and deliberate efforts to misrepresent facts on the part of the leadership of the CBN.”

The council advised the President to exercise the powers conferred on him by Section 11(2)(f) of the CBN Act 2007 or invoke Section 11(2)(c) of the said Act “and cause the governor and the deputy governors to cease from holding office in the CBN.”

The report read: The particulars of the infractions against Sanusi are:

Persistent refusal and/or negligence to comply with the Public Procurement Act in the procurement practices of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

(A) By virtue of Section 15 (1)(a) of the Public Procurement Act, the provisions of the Act are expected to comply to ‘all procurement of goods, works and services carried out by the Federal Government of Nigeria and all procurement entities.’ This definition clearly includes the Central Bank of Nigeria.

(B) It is however regrettable that the Central Bank of Nigeria, under his leadership, has refused and/or neglected to comply with the provisions of the Public Procurement Act (PPA). You will recall that one of the primary reasons for the enactment of the PPA was the need to promote transparency, competitiveness, cost of effectiveness and professionalism in the public sector procurement system.

Take a quick guess why New York City with almost 10 million people doesn't have a single Walmart.

Thousands of small business owners have seen their dreams of being successful entrepreneurs destroyed by the opening of Wal-Mart in their area. Small businesses are not afforded the same discounts by wholesale providers as those given to major corporations because the smaller business cannot buy the massive quantities that companies like Wal-Mart can. Therefore, they must charge higher prices for the same product thus losing patronage.
Walmarts quest for low cost and price is making the company to pay least wages to its workers.infact majority of Walmarts staffs are dependent on government welfare because their wages cannot sustain them,what this implies is that the government is indirectly granting subsidies to walmart even though the company is not owned by the government.
It has team of tax consultants that exploit loopholes in the tax system to make the company pay low taxes.
Walmart is predatory. It gobbles mom and pop shops and run competitors out of business by use of economics of scale in its purchases.the company determines prices that suppliers will receive on the products supplied.if a supplier refuses,walmart makes generic brands,this has bankrupted many walmart suppliers or made them earn very little profit from the company.

Wrong! Go and ask the same Walmart if they were allowed in South Africa a couple of years ago (2012). The SA government didn't want them because they were going to be competition for there local brands (Shoprite, Game, Clicks etc.). These are the same brands that the SA chamber of commerce is using to make in-roads throughout west and central africa as export channels for their locally manufactured products. The summary is that Walmart was finally bullied into investing in a local SA brand chain.

Now look at the dumb Nigerian government, the same shoprite came and is infiltrating every nook and cranny with their imports and nobody in government is any wiser. If they want walmart in the country, they should make them invest/partner in/with a local brand instead.

Wise administrations do NOT allow big brands to come into their countries and take away their revenue. Walmart is operating in the UK but as ASDA - a localised brand. Which means all the revenue stays in the UK. That is wisdom, not exhibiting lower class ignorance while thinking - we are bringing foreign investment - that's nonsense at best.

The Nigerian government should wake up and stop this inferiority complex and playing into the hand of big business indirect neo-colonisation!!!!! My two kobo!!
