Omonaijani: Mokoloki is very popular, it's along papa road, you may go through Omu junction or via Mosadomi, you might want to use bike because of the poor state of the road. If you live in ofada, it might be a good idea to get a motorcycle of your own if you're thinking of farming around Moko because daily bike should be around 1k to and fro.
As for the popular OgunOsun Farm settlement which is rented to the general public at 20k/hectare/year, there's river there that you can make use of and this will save you the stress of traveling farther inside Moko, while it is true that the OgunOsun land has been over used and will definitely not be good for doing pepper, there are some lands around OgunOsun that belong to private families that have not been overused, the only thing is the lands are not tractorable like OgunOsun, but they'll be good for pepper and okra.
Another thing you can do if you live in Ofada is to meet land agents or Omoonile's, there are some landed properties in acres all around that are fenced that you can rent on yearly bases, while these properties may not have boreholes, people leaving around those properties usually have boreholes, you can talk to them if they'll allow you pump water and pay. Thanks so very much. I really appreciate your analysis. Will take a step. |

REUBEN010: Be sure to stay away from Ogun-Osun river banks because of annual flooding. If you can, take a trip down to Igan-gan after Mokoloki to enquire for land close to a stream (not the river). I will appreciate if you can give me a link. Though, l live at Ofada and always hear Mokoloki but l have not been to the place. |

my2chains: Hello everyone here,
i have a business idea that i need serious partners or investors on, although i have no capital but I have a land I rented with borehole there!
so there is water available, the farmland is in lagos and is closer to the market.
please invest on farming today because it pays and its very profitable on the long run,
you can really plant pepper,okro,tomato,cucumber,ugu leaf.water leaf,plantain,cassava,etc
after planting you can carry them to sell at mile 12 market for faster sales, or maybe any large populated markets around
although in mile 12 market in lagos a bag of 25kg pepper is sold 8k a basket of tomato is 6k a custard paint of okro is 300 to 700 depending on the season, a bag of water leaf sells from 2,500 to 5000
please note the prizes of all this crops do changes with time,
and you wont expect the prize they are been sold today to be sold the same prize next week or so.
apart from mile 12 there are also other markets women nearby that needs steady supply of all this crops i have mentioned here.
to me all of them are profitable and good, but i prefer planting okro because of no too much stress and worry of diseases and pest,
expectially the dwarf okro seeds that matures in just 54 days with less stress,
even without applying manure or fertilizers to it,
anyone interested in partnering with me on this will gain a lot.
If you already have a land that is free then this is an advantage
this dwarf okro produces faster everyday,
just 1 plot of land can give you much more okro to sell and make money as you can ever imagine,
if you have an acre filled with okro then you will have enough to sell comercially,
just 1 acre of land filled with okro will make you harvest baskets of okro every single day for almost 3-4 months depending on the duration and life of the seeds,
a basket of okro can sell upwards from 5k-7k depending on the season
and 1 acre of land can give you more than 10 baskets everyday
as for marketing i have agents in mile 12 that sells for you and take only 10% of the total sales
we can even sell at iyano-iba market that is very closer to my side. Or do make supplies to restaurants that will be needing it
You can even startup with just 1 plot of land and be successfull in this and increase with time,
this is indeed a money spiner for anyone interested
invest on this and start counting real money
i am based in lagos we can get to meet one on one to discuss this
please and please i need people who can think outside the box on this,
i am geniun and i have no issue on trust all i want is the way forward to achieving a greater tomorrow
a good name is far more better than a bad name,
a budget of 60-75k can startup and maintain 1 plot of okro till we reach harvest from buying of machine to pump the water to buying of manures, hybrid okro seeds,pesticides/insecticides,watering them daily, transportation and fertilizers
all i want is just to be the farm manager thats all
do call me on 09032884494

Degis: Transplant later in the evening after exposing them to sunlight for 4-5 days before transplanting and use compost tea to water the plants.
Compost tea is just manure mixed with water. Remember, don’t let the tea touch the leaves of the plant bc it will kill them. It contains too much Nitrogen Good day, But can it touch the root and stem? Thanks I mean the Compost Tea |

ogbongenet: You need a lot of water during dry season to plant pepper successfully. Please, Is it late to start planning for pepper cultivation. Or should I defer it. I once read here that pepper farming can be affected by all manner of diseases during rainy season. And it is already approaching. |

Spray your farm weekly with more than 1 type of fungicide/pesticide Please, in spraying fungicide on a newly germinating seedlings (4 days old ),can it touch the germinating leaves or only the surrounding soil. Thanks |

OluchiDelly: I can feel your pain right away. Time, energy, treatments, etc. Get an experience farmer to help you set up your nursery when next you intend to. There are many methods you can employ to aid the germination of your seeds. Pepper seeds are more difficult to break dormancy than tomatoes. I think I got it right this time.

A. I used water to damp the nursery bed to make it wet and to cool the ground off
B. I used rake to further clear it off debris
C. Then I broadcasted (I used 2 beds I applied dried chicken waste on 1st bed and the 2nd bed just the soil to see if there will be any significant difference or damage)
D. Then the broadcasting ( the bed with manure I I used drip method for the broadcast just few lines) What is drip method? Or how is it done? |
