Excellent. I admire it. Simply, and will explore your services further. We can exchange contacts at some point. I'm a Software Consultant.

No bitterness, don't you think you sound similar?

Do you own afrintech? Or you work for them? Impressive services you offer. And did you apply?

Thanks.

webdezzi:

I can't answer that question, because in business, there are many factors that decide success:

1. Luck
2. Talents
3. Marketing potential and connection
4. Demand & Supply

I didn't necessary focussed on biz plan, I also mentioned that it is impossible to teach novices business concepts in 2 days, even pupils take months to understand how to count 1,2,3.
What I said about biz plan was in fact correct, as I expected a programme of this type, to only offer training focussing on such, and other variables one should consider in business.

It would have made sense for the FG to partner with successful companies, to offer social programmes, internships, industrial trainings, to unemployed youths --that will keep them busy, and also offer them trainings in return. The benefit is, if those youths want to start their businesses after, they are already well-equipped.

It just seems like a waste of money, since the expected # of employment is simply an expected outtack, without understanding the qualifications and backgrounds of those selected.

Would you rather give Dangote a billion to create thousands of jobs, or a new graduand? Dangote, of course, because he has the track record in the industry: his companies are profitable.

Even if I were to be given the money, it may or may not succeed, because many factors decide success. I will try my best regardless, because I understand my limits, and my skillsets, and how it can be employed to better advantage.

Listen, I will be honest with you, I applied because I wanted to make a difference, however inspite of our earlier criticisms that the FG could have partnered with Medium/Large enterprises to make jobs available --not this way.

This seems like a proof-of-concept, with so much money at base, and in proof-of-concepts, if the results are not enviable, after a while, the project could be cancelled, or funds could be diverted to many areas as see fit. With these amount of money, you shouldn't make it a proof-of-concept. I think most are not aware of this, already, it is a face-saving scheme for the FG, not concrete. But good luck, and let's watch.

ladanski & co:

I'm, but just making my initial assessments known. I said it before, the training would mostly comprise only how to write biz plan. How would you expect novices and neophytes to understand business training in 2 day sessions? Impossible. So it is poorly conceived.

It is similar to the Maryam Babangida's better life programme. If you really want to create jobs, partner with large/medium enterprises, or select those with the right qualifications, and sound plans, that would most likely succeed.

The objective behind the programme, is simple, the types of winners were already pre-selected. Now, if you still doubt me (though I have been right about the biz plan compendium so far), wait and watch 3 years from now, hahaha,
BusinessRe: Youwin Updates by frog12: 7:14pm On Dec 09, 2011
Thanks. I thought so, how to write biz plans, etc.
To be honest, this programme is poorly conceived, and I think it is doomed to fail. It will not yield the expected amount of employment, and I'm quite sure, the participants will only be given a tiny financial amount, to implement the biz.

They were only looking for simple ideas, or unfeasible ones.

ladanski,
Can you give us a brief overview of the lecture? Is it about creating a biz plan, etc?

Honestly, I want to hear more feedbacks, and the types of ideas that were selected.

I thought it will run 3yrs, for the total 1200 winners.  Are you saying there will be 3600 winners for the entire 3-yr period?

Your idea of Cloud Computing is unfeasible, there is no power in the country,
So many catfish, poultry ideas, just as I had thought, they selection criteria doesn't seem rigourous.

More feedbacks please.

How was the training??
Is it as I mentioned? a few documents on how to create a business plan?
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Is Not Ready For State Police - GEJ by frog12: 8:20pm On Dec 07, 2011
MannyLa,
I will correct one notion of mine: the 3 major languages are National, while English is official, I still consider those 3 official languages, as they are spoken more of, in official capacities as well. I think many State assemblies are dabbling in their indigenous languages now, or think of the notion.

However, my standing on multiculturalism/single culturalism doesn't change.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Is Not Ready For State Police - GEJ by frog12: 7:40pm On Dec 07, 2011
I will say again, the US is a country for European descendants,
Spanish being allowed is only a formality, to help those that speak the language, and unable to understand English, mostly the elderly.  English is the official language there, and it will even become a national law (most states have it already), when the Republicans even win the house.

Now, to Nigeria, English, just has the 3 major languages, are official languages.  Do you research properly.  English is acceptable as a transaction or business language for the Govt.  What's there to stop other State Assemblies from communicating in their Language?  I think the Lagos Assembly must have passed such a law; even the Ibo speaking states have done similarly.

As per a Yoruba being the President, if you are born there, maybe, but do you really want to be a slave while being in charge? hahahahahahahah, Obama has no where to go, but his mother's country; I doubt he even knows his father's families as much.

The fact that majority enjoys Presidency is flawed, how about Apartheid South Africa?  Nigeria was by military power only, and with the rotation in place now, every group will enjoy such top position, as Jonathan is now.

You, a Yoruba, want to become president of USA, just give them Amala to chop, hahahahahahahah
The US has no concept of Power rotation, only majority votes, and that's mostly the majority race.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Is Not Ready For State Police - GEJ by frog12: 7:06pm On Dec 07, 2011
Did you just say California? You are running out of ideas.
As per Jos, having a federal Police means everyone, including the Commissioner abides by Federal laws --a deviation, would cost you your job, If it is noted that anyone takes sides,

In Nigeria, there are many languages, English is not the only official language, there are 3 others, are you really a Nigerian? Besides, you can have a Tiv become President; in the US, I want to see a Yoruba become President. hahahahahah.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Is Not Ready For State Police - GEJ by frog12: 6:44pm On Dec 07, 2011
MannyLa,

The US is a singular-culture country, though with people from different nations. It has a single language; you can only marry one spouse, and do you expect to make your culture the norm in their constitution? Keep trying. No, we will make your language the official language of the US. hahahahah --they would have driven you out of their country by then.

As per JOS, even if it had its own State Police, the issue was about cultural differences, it would have been worse, with State Police under the guide of a Governor, that would most likely side with his ethnic group.

The solution remains, fixing the current problem with the national Police as it is.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Is Not Ready For State Police - GEJ by frog12: 6:02pm On Dec 07, 2011
MannyLa,

Should I remind you that most of those States can barely keep their heads afloat, financially,
Ideas that make sense in a single-culture environment like the US, may not work in a multi-culture area like Nigeria, keep that in mind. It is up to the Police to assist the relevant State Police Commissioners with their duties.

If you look at the JOS riots, you can't just blame the Fed Govt, what has the States done to improve Security? i.e CCTV cameras, etc.

We do not live on an island, we are they to assist each others,

If you don't mind, since you were selected, how feasible is your idea? Can you share.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Is Not Ready For State Police - GEJ by frog12: 4:56pm On Dec 07, 2011
We don't have the resources to support such a plan. Perhaps we should give some cities special status, and have a tested scheme for independent Police systems. Some countries in our status have such ,
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Is Not Ready For State Police - GEJ by frog12: 4:33pm On Dec 07, 2011
Who taught GEJ to think? Must be Reuben Abati, he's right.
It's easier to control the State securities than the Courts.

I would like your feedback, I suspect they were given handouts on how to draft a business plan. Inform me please, and even on the composition of the winners. Are they current students, or not.
PoliticsRe: Youwin Nigeria: Is It Real ? by frog12: 3:21pm On Dec 05, 2011
Atleast 5000 names, and what sort of zonal training will you give them, in this little short time? It's indeed poorly conceived. Then it is only a face-saving scheme to make people think the Jonathan administration is truly trying to solve the unemployment problem,

Some of us were quite wary of it from the beginning, but we wanted to assist, and atleast give the programme some benefit of one-sided judgement.
PoliticsRe: Youwin Nigeria: Is It Real ? by frog12: 2:58pm On Dec 05, 2011
The names on the PDF are not professionally written --they appear to have been drafted by a Primary School leaver, I hope they are not responsible for selecting the best concepts.
And the names also appear fabricated, surely we have common names, but the pattern seen, appear to be fabricated names. They must have mixed non-existing names with few real ones.

It's just as "eGift" has mentioned, only a few genuined winners, and the rest, will most likely be connected to other powerful people.

Within the short time the project was conceived, it is impossible to receive millions of applicants , perhaps hundreds, or in the lower thousands, if you have ever seen the US Visa Lottery, it is published ahead of time, hence the number of applicants can be approximated, but not for a scheme advertised quickly.

Even if one writes a web bot to automate submission of ideas, considering the design of YouWIN website, we still expect the ID verification to be confirmed independently.
PoliticsRe: Youwin Nigeria: Is It Real ? by frog12: 5:42pm On Dec 04, 2011
I applied, however, after receiving a reply yesterday that makes absolute zero sense.  I reviewed the timeline again, and concluded that it is impossible for you to select 2nd Round candidates based on their business concepts feasibility, either on a rolling basis, or within a week's time-span (Nov. 25 to Dec. 3)

The names, either if the concepts are note-worthy, are either being ignored, or trashed.  The criterias for choosing winners are not clear.  It points to an already decided result-sets.

In addition, the warning in the email states that the government reserves the right to modify, terminate, or cancel the YouWIN project at any time, it doesn't seem to be a sincere effort, perhaps just a face-saving scheme to make public think the government is working to resolve the rate of unemployment,
PoliticsRe: Youwin Nigeria: Is It Real ? by frog12: 5:15pm On Dec 04, 2011
Stop wasting your time, they've already selected the winners/those to distribute the funds to, ahead of time,
it's not an honest venture, be wary.

It's just formalities now, to eliminate candidates, as in a competition. The dates by themselves make such a project unfeasible.
