My brother you are not far from the truth, so many misconception from our southern brothers... I am a southerner but I live in Zaria, Kaduna State... I know what I am saying... ABU and BUK are extremely difficult for southerners, except you are a very high-flyer.
They admit just one per state, that is usually the highest person.
MBBS admission is competitive everywhere, the competition reduces in your catchment area, followed by state universities.
If to say money dey private University na him person for go. After all MBBS na MBBS irrespective of the school as long as the school is accredited by NUC and MDCN. sadMy brother you are not far from the truth, so many misconception from our southern brothers... I tried federal and state uni tire before I carried myself to private. No patient will ask me where I graduated from. Doctor na doctor.
If I had known when my mates were leaving UNN for ABSU for medicine, I for follow them instead of reading physiotherapy in UNN while they went for medicine in ABSU and IGBINEDION.
All of them dey do shakara for me now telling me to pack one corner with my UNN cert.
The private I rejected then claiming it's for less intelligent students is where I finally landed.

las las, if you really want to be a doctor, any accredited med sch in Nigeria is good be it private or not.
once you start working, nobody will ask you where you graduated from. infact its the same lecturer's in public uni that teach us in private uni. Learnt the hard way.

The total number of dental students in uniport (year1 to year6) is not up to 100. Uniport doesn't admit up to 20 students a year. UNN administration should reduce the number they admit into medical school, they should fear God oo .

I'm a 500level dentistry student, uniport... Hope I'm welcome here?

Wow weldone sir help me thank God sir by this time January I will be starting my pre clinicals with my colleague Anaso UNN even admitted 448 for medicine this year and 120+ dentistry

Naso keep looking for attention in a faceless forum....no go prepare for second semester exam

I just like the classic life style of the school, after their pre med (100l) when they cross over they are being given preferential treatment, their hostel is dope, the give them a lab coat with the labcoast with their student association AMSUL for medicine and ULADS for dentistry, the lab coat has the rod of asclepius on it too, very dope ,their smart dressings ,unec is not like this OMG!!! you need to see this

This is real truth. That's the government of the day in Nigeria, everyone is after their selfish interest.
Well, our job is to try to improve the system.
Even classes here is war. one will come to class and at the end not even know what the topic is due to over population.

Good evening everyone

I'm really excited to be here. I registered on this forum mainly because of this thread. I've been an ardent guest viewer on this thread and a lot of comments here helped me in the pursuit of gaining admission into medical school. I'm glad to say that I GOT THERE. God did that.

In a few months, I'll be starting preclinical. I thought to myself that the least I can do is return the favor. So guys if you have any question on how to keep your head high while pushing hard to get into medical school, I'll love to give the best advice I can.
It gets hard I can assure you but with God and the right mindset, you'll find yourself there faster than you thought. Stay blessed.

Accept it if you are given, half bread is better than none.

Never call dentistry half bread, dentistry is same as medicine, am a dental student the only thing is that dentistry is restricted to the head and neck, dentistry is the biggest speciality in medicine, that was why they even separated, like in UNN before creation of faculty of DENTISTRY if you want to study dentistry you will apply for medicine and then choose dentistry under medicine

They clark the same patient during junior postings, is just that they don't do OBS and GYN

If you're in first year or yet to take your first professional exam (2nd MBBS/BDS part A), Congratulations. But at the same time, I'll encourage you to focus on your studies. Give no room for distractions and do not be carried away by the euphoria of being on the path to becoming a Medical doctor/Dental surgeon. The path is tough and rigorous. There are many mountains to climb. It can be victorious or frustrating for one depending on the decisions you make and grace of God. But no matter the challenges, I advice you never to give up at any stage, remain focused. Know who you are and where you are heading to (A path of greatness).

My story I believe will encourage many here. Very soon I'll share it here. I faced numerous challenges and roadblocks (especially in my Medicine and Surgery- 4th BDS), but I never gave up. I just finished my final exam (5th BDS)... I have been offered a job even before my graduation. No matter how long it takes you, remain resilient.

And for those still believing God for admission, keep working smart and praying hard, your testimony shall come.

First professional exam 2nd semester on my mind (PARASITOLOGY IS HECTIC) but God rules I must make it to the college of medicine by OCTOBER amen!!!

I rep UNN
