How can somebody have over 200beats and it wasn't obvious? There should be sanctions. Many can't read simple ECG,Radiograph and test results. But when I finish my Veterinary degree and work for sometime I will go for my Law degree. I am gonna fokin hunt criminal Doctors who are there to sustain diseases even little like malaria and typhoid without treating them. Nigeria go know me.

Once the private university has accreditation for mbbs,YES!

Forget about those misconceptions or baseless talks about how govt schools (especially federal govt schools) are the next things after bread and butter.
Na past glory.

Most old medical schools still use material resources they used for our parents and maybe grandparents too.

The only thing that can be spoken of is human resources and most of these lecturers in govt schools go to lecture in private schools, better behaved in the private schools sef. grin grin
Meanwhile, I personally believe that every accredited medical school has the mix of lecturers capable of offering you the stuffs you can build on to become a good medical doctor.
Note this, medical schools only produce doctors, to become a good doctor is an absolute individual choice.

Is it student to resources ratio you want to talk of, or condition of facilities or calendar or the kind of connection you can establish in private schools?

If money isn't a factor, I would choose an ACCREDITED private medical school over and over again

However, from a medipreneur point of view, PLAB or USMLE should be your target once you attend a private med school.
The renumeration here compared to the cost of a private medical education is highly frustrating.

Why are yuh studying medicine passion or money,if it's because of money you will be disappointed on the long run

How can you say the only problem is hostel
Jesus christ!
Guy what you typed is wrong. Do not defend mediocrity because you want to save face.
We have population problem, we have hostel problem(which was not so when the population was small),Lab equipments etal.

But we need to address the issue of Population. Population in UNN medical school started 2014/2015 academic session. but it was managed then until 2016/2017 session when post-UME was scrapped. The school admitted excess that year. Since then, thats now the new normal.

Before, all college of medicine students stay together to receive lectures from Medicine, Dentistry,MLS, Nursing, Radio,Rehab all stay in physio Audit.

When 2016/2017 Medical students crossed over to College of Medicine, they started dividing them into batches from lectures to practicals,Clinical postings, even exams undecided

You think its still not a problem?
Go to other medical school and see for yourself.
2hrs practicals for batch A and another 2 hrs for batch B, and possibly batch C. When before, they used to engage everyone at once for 4-6hrs straight practicals. I do pity those last batches because those instructors would have been exhausted before it gets to their turn.

The school management should look into this population problem.its really a big deal.
I love UNN with all my heart. I will still choose the school over and over again but lets call a spade a spade!

Do you think medicals are the owners of white house? Wait until business faculty wants to use it if they won't send you'll out.

Its time we call the school management out. starting from the Deans to Provost College of Medicine, then the VC. If not, UNN will soon become a shadow of itself(producing half baked that would fumble if he/she mistakenly does Internship/housemanship in places like LUTH,UCH and other reputable medical enters).

No cap you are right, over population leads to mis management, but then things can still be managed even with the number, but the school is not trying, we don't have a single borehole in COLLEGE OF MEDICINE,UNEC.you can Imagine a whole UNN

we even buy proteins with our money for practicals e.g when we want to do protein test we brought egg by ourselves

UNN has population issue but it can still be managed, but there is no management team in UNN, UNN is just filled with greedy leaders.

EBSU medical students don't pay developmental fee. It's AE-FUNAI that does that. Besides, its hostel rent isn't more than N30K at the Presco campus.

The UNN medical school should be reformed. It's not encouraging. Most of its medical students aren't happy about the situation of things there.

The hostels should be renovated. No student makes it academically while living in an unhygienic environment.

That physiology auditorium can't accommodate all the physiotherapy, medical and dental students that will be taking professional exams in 3rd year. Even the white castle (house) can't even accommodate them. This must be addressed by building more lecture halls or adhering strictly to its admission quota.

Lastly, every medical school has brilliant medical students.

White house accommodates us, white house sitting capacity is more than 1,000 , the only problem in the school is the hostel, many students even stay off campus 50%

A school were they have 21hrs light daily in the hostel....? The hostel just need renovation and proper maintenance like they just did in NSUKKA CAMPUS ,2nd MBBS student don't stay in PHYSIO AUDITORIUM...! you know stop Ranting
Education / Re: Optometry , Dentistry Or Physiotherapy? by Froshchuksswart(m): 6:01pm On Oct 19, 2020
Lol if optometry is better than Dentistry ,the. Optometry is better than Medicine ,you are using patient ratio to check the lucrativeness of a course

The opportunity in BDS is very diverse, you can specialize and enter into academia and own a private clinic and still be a consultant in a teaching hospital

You can do a bridge 18months course into MBBS and still practice as a GP

If optometry is better than Dentistry then it is better than Medicine

But if it's not reverse is the case

Um, that doesn't matter really, don't let corrupt practices become normal, I think we should actively shun them.
Thank you.

I'm talking based on the comparison he is making, comparing EBSU to UNN

We re much hence the the higher chances of having a rough environment, I'm sure the 200l and 300l class numbers is bigger than the whole EBSU population from year 2- year 6, the only problem in UNN is just population and these has led to mis management

Apart from the high school fee of state universities, the EBSU medical school is as good as the UNN medical school. I was once in UNN before going to EBSU. If I compare the UNN's and EBSU's faculties of basic medical science, then EBSU has a better facility.

When I was in UNN, they would share the time, and some of us would sit under the mango tree close to the gate of the Anatomy department learning osteology, so that those groups doing practical in the histology laboratory and those doing dissection would be through before it would be our turn. The same scenario took place in both the biochemistry and physiology laboratories.

Moreover, the governor is now building a state of the art teaching hospital.

Even the EBSU school hostels at the Presco campus are better than that Kenneth Dike and Mbonu Ojike hostels at UNEC that are dirty.

The soakaway pits adjacent to my room at Kenneth Dike Hostel overflowed their brims and spilled over, and everywhere was smelling badly due to faeces, yet they never repaired them or evacuated the excess faeces until I left the school. We inhaled the bad air all the time.

Even the department of physiology is a makeshift house. When I came to UNEC, I lost the respect I had for UNN. In fact, some federal universities are leaving in past glory. I did my first degree at UNIZIK, and I discovered then that the federal universities only have reputable names. Aside the name, they're not better academically than most state universities. That's my experience.

Lastly, I can confidently tell you that most medical students of UNN will prefer EBSU to UNN. In fact, most of them will choose to transfer to EBSU rather than remain in UNN. The management has messed up the UNN medical school.

You are right, what do you expect our school fees is just 45k for 2nd year student the hostel is 12k for boys Kenneth dike and mbonu ojike male hostel

You paid 45k+ 12k =57k for both ACADEMIA and ACCOMMODATION what do you expect ,57k is not even up to EBSU hostel fee at all, not to talk of the development fee they pay in EBSU...

You don't expect to live big with such amount na haba fear God..,

but when it comes to students UNN have good medical students, what do you expect when you come to a class seeing people who scored 290+ populating 70% of the class, you can even learn from them before the lecturer teaches the topic,UNN is a very good medical school the only problem is our POPULATION we are too much in UNN...Imagine tell me now how can you compare MEDILAG(CMUL) to UNEC when in a class you have just 100 medical student and 15 dental students, compared to UNEC with 350 medical students with 150 dental Students

But then our class for 2nd MB student is big enough to accommodate us and our lab too are ok they share us into batches (is just that the management is not doing well)

You should your school,MB policy

Like in UNN the former policy was that if you fail 1 or 2 you CAN resit the two exams in September,if you fail them again, you are leaving med school.

Now,it is only one attempt,if you fail one or two you are leaving automatically,no more resit in UNN

Hello guys I will tell you about LION SHARE SMART CONTRACT...

What Is a Smart Contract?
A smart contract is a self-executing contract with the terms of the agreement between buyer and seller being directly written into lines of code. The code and the agreements contained therein exist across a distributed, decentralized blockchain network. The code controls the execution, and transactions are trackable and irreversible.

Smart contracts permit trusted transactions and agreements to be carried out among disparate, anonymous parties without the need for a central authority, legal system, or external enforcement mechanism…

What is Lions Share Smart Contract?
Lions Share Smart Contract was launched on June 13 2020

Lion’s Share is another new Ethereum Smart Contract Matrix program. This is a peer to peer platform, built using Ethereum smart contract technology, working on the blockchain. This platform is self operating, which means it can never be hacked, or changed.

Just like the Million Money And Forsage. LION SHARE is the first of its kind in connecting different countries right from the start and you need to go into it because Smart contracts are the future Crypto earning programs and they are going to change how we see Crypto Currencies

You're welcome. However, I'm a medical student in a state university now. I had an issue with UNN. So, I left on my own. Dentistry is good. I'm a PRECLINICAL dental student(200l) we were about randing up first semester before the pandemic, guy I want to correct something,Dentistry cutoff is only low in UNN(maybe because people don't know about the profession in South east),i remember getting Dentistry with a jamb score of 297 self in UNN 2018,guy if you go to southwest schools like OAU UI an UNILAG the cutoff is next after medicine no other course in COLLEGE OF MEDICINE beat dentistry cutoff apart from MEDICINE Again from 2019 set Dentistry is now competitive they are only 44 in '025 set now they were 100+ unn reduced them some months after they were admitted(their caps change to other departments to like physiology, med rehab, anatomy and physiology) and again this ones about entering for 2020 they scored very high I know about 5 people aspiring for dentistry with over 320 in UTME

Mandeyy:
Bro, i am a UNN dental student. The only problem in dentistry is passing the exam. It's a very hard course. Before i got admission into it, i used to think it's easy and that it's all about pulling teeth. But now that i'm into it, i now know my previous perception of it was wrong. In fact, both medicine and dentistry do the same courses from 1st year to fourth (4th) year before going their separate ways in fifth year. As if that's not enough, 5th yr dental students will thereafter join final yr medical students to do their final yr courses with them which will require them going to clinical posting together with these final year medical students and then write the same exam with them for these courses, despite the fact that dentistry is for the oral and maxillofacial region. Then in final yr, they will focus on their core dental courses.

In Nigeria today, with due respect to medical graduates, it's easier for a dental graduate to get housemanship placement than a medical graduate, cos dental graduates are few in number. Besides, more hospitals now have dental clinics than before.

Dentistry is not all about oral and maxillofacial surgery. There are other dental specialties similar in clinical work like in medicine such as oral and maxillofacial pathology, oral medicine, oral radiology and even oral anaesthesiology. What a medical doctor who is a pathologist does in other parts of human body other than oral and maxillofacial region is what a dental doctor who is an oral pathologist does in the oral and maxillofacial region. It's the same procedures with slight variations, due to the uniqueness of the different parts of the body. Besides, an oral pathologist while in residency training still rotates through general pathology and internal medicine. The same is applicable to an oral radiologist and an oral anaesthetist. The fomer Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Prof. Onatolu Odukoya, is a dentist. He's a consultant oral pathologist. Even the current Registrar, MDCN, Dr T.A.B. Sanusi, is a dentist. Besides, it's still the same National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN) and West African College of Physicians and Surgeons that both medical and dental doctors pass through before becoming consultants. As of last year, the president of National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN) was Professor Ademola Abayomi Olaitan, a consultant oral and maxillofacial surgeon. The two professions write primaries, do a residency training of about 4-7 years before becoming consultants, have the same privileges and emoluments. It's only the ignorant public who doesn't know much about dentistry and always thinks ignorantly that it's the study of pulling teeth who respects medical doctors more (besides, dentist's respect comes from his/her patients who know a dentist's worth). However, a knowledgeable person knows the two professions are very essential and therefore accords them equal respect.

The ignorant public does not know that oral cancers and other pathologies of the oral and maxillofacial region, other than dental diseases, are diagnosed by dentists specifically oral pathologists, oral radiologists, consultants in oral medicine and oral and maxillofacial surgeons who are all dentists.

Even in private practice in Nigeria, Dentistry is also lucrative. Ignore what the public says about this. On this Nairaland, somebody said he uprooted three teeth for N90,000 in Ilorin apart from consultation and x-ray fees. One of the teeth was impacted and after x-ray, the dentist discovered facial nerve passed near it and can only be surgically extracted by an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, otherwise the nerve may get injured in the process. He said he visited some private dental clinics (up to 10) in Ilorin, and each of them was busy while the less busy ones had up to 10 patients. He said he was charged N60,000 in Govt Hospital for the same procedure.

There are still other branches of dentistry such as periodontology, prosthodontics, dental public health, general dental practice (family dentistry), orthodontics, endodontics, and child dental health (paediatric dentistry).

The UNN 2017 dental graduates all got internship placements without delay. So, ignore ignorant public's perception of dentistry. It's not the real picture of dentistry they portray.

For ur info, this link shows the work of a consultant prosthodontist in London. See the link: http://www.wereblog.com/eric-moger-the-man-who-lost-his-face-to-nose-cancer-gets-his-face-back This shows the importance of dentistry especially oral and maxillofacial surgery in Cambodia. See the link: https://www.phnompenhpost.com/7days/nil-mouth-how-cambodia-desperate-oral-surgeons

A colleague said Nigeria BDS holders can only work abroad after a further training unlike MBBS who only writes an exam, because our training in Nigeria is rather crude.

Dental training in Nigeria is not crude; it's the same as medicine. Every profession in different countries has its requirement. That does not mean its training in another country is crude. The only problem with dental training and by extension medical training in Nigeria, is lack of Hi-tech equipment which Western education in developed countries boasts of. Dentistry in America requires a foreign dentist (not just a Nigerian dentist) to come to America, sit for National Board for Dental Education (NBDE) exam, pass it and study for 2 years before acquiring DDS or DMD afterwhich the dental graduate will get a licence to practise.

Also for medicine, you start writing the exam in a foreign country, then pass it, come to America and start residency. It's all different strokes for different folks. Besides, passing the medical exam is still not easy. Let's be contented with where God has put us to bring a positive change to humanity.
