After declaring the straits of Hormuz as US territory, Trump is now saying he is all set to trigger Article 5 over the straits of Hormuz being under siege by Iran.

But the Orangutan is not aware that under same NATO Articles of invocation , Article 6 specifically states that Article 5 can not be invoked on territories (both real and imagined) south of the Tropic of Capricorn.

According to Article 6:

Article 5 collective-defense only applies to attacks on the territory of any of the Parties in Europe or North America, the Algerian Departments of France, the territory of Turkey, or the Islands under the jurisdiction of any of the Parties in the North Atlantic area north of the Tropic of Cancer. (NATO).

So even if Trump believes in his own fantasy declaration that the straits of Hormuz are now US territory, he can't invoke Article 5, because Article 6 specifically limits NATO forces being invoked only on territories located north of the Tropic of Capricorn.

And even if this wasn't the case, NATO Article 5 is a defensive pact and not one of aggression meaning it can only be invoked when a party to NATO is under attack by a non member of NATO.

In the case of the straits of Hormuz, the US is the aggressive party and was not under any threat whatsoever before it joined that rogue state in bombing Iran .
