President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday said those plotting the alleged interim national government in the country risked arrest and prosecution for treason. Jonathan said this during his visit to Daura, Katsina State, the birth place of the All Progressives Congress Presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.). He also visited the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Farouk, where he informed the monarch that the Federal Government had build 28 Almajiri schools and a federal university in the state. xrisdon:That's what some people say oh! But GEJ still thinks otherwise oh! |
This is indeed a very sad thing to happen in Nigeria. The apex labour body in the country now factionalised. Where are we going to with this? It used to be political parties and now the NLC? Why is NLC's former president, Abdulwaheed Umar, leaving behind a divided house for Nigerian workers? ............................................................................................ Despite assurances by the newly elected President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Ayuba Wabba, that his leadership was making moves to bring all aggrieved factions back to the fold, a parallel executive emerged on Thursday in Lagos. The new executive, which effectively splits the Congress into two factions, has the main contender in last Saturday’s rescheduled national elections in Abuja, Joe Ajaero, as President. The emergence of Mr. Ajaero, the General Secretary of the National Union of Electricity Employees, NUEE, has confirmed the threat by members of 23 aggrieved affiliate unions of the Congress to form a parallel executive this week. Mr. Wabba controls 18 out of the 43 affiliate unions. Two unions have remained neutral as yet. The threat by Mr. Ajaero’s faction followed allegations that the electoral process that led to the emergence of Mr. Wabba as successor to the former NLC President, Wahab Omar, was flawed by irregularities. The election in Lagos saw all the participants returned unopposed, two Deputy Presidents – the National President of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, Igwe Achese, and General Secretary of the National Union of Textile, Garment and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria, Issa Aremu. Also returned as Vice-Presidents were Kasumu Kadiri of the Steel and Engineering Workers Union of Nigeria; Kelly Ogbaloi of the National Union of Shop and Distributive Employees, and Yashi Yahaya of the National Union of Civil Service Secretariat and Stenographic. The main National Executive Council of the Congress in a statement on Thursday by the General Secretary, Peter Ozo-Eson, said at the end of its National Administrative Council meeting in Abuja that a reconciliation committee was set up to woo aggrieved members, who lost during the Delegates Conference back to the fold. The Congress had warned affiliated unions invited to the “special Conference” to ignore such invitation. . www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/178832-nlc-splits-as-aggrieved-candidate-forms-parallel-executive.html

Atiku says he is not a light weight politician and I completely agree with him; if not GEJ would have ignored visiting him recently. What do you think? Or could Atiku be sending a message to the APC? |
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has stated he is not fully visible in the campaign rallies and programmes of the presidential candidate of the APC, Muhammadu Buhari, because the campaign secretariat has refused to invite or consult with him in its programmes. In an interview with the Hausa service of the BBC monitored Friday morning, the former VP said he has paid his dues as far as politics is concerned in the country because he has participated in many presidential campaigns in the past. “I campaigned for late Shehu Yar’Adua twice successfully,” he said. “We did that of Abiola, Obasanjo and for myself. “I am not a light weight politician, whoever needs my presence should contact and extend invitation to me.” Atiku said he has already made his feelings known to the Director General of the Buhari campaign organisation, Governor Rotimi Amaechi. “They need to check the strategy they are adopting and I made that clear to the campaign DG, Rotimi Amaechi and I told him that if you don’t consult or invite me, you will not see me,” he said. Asked whether his remarks meant there was crisis in the APC, Atiku said the situation has not degenerated to that extent. Atiku, however, said although he had “issues and reservations” with the way the campaign was being run, he expressed the view that it was not too late to make amends. . www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/178852-why-im-not-visible-in-buhari-campaigns-atiku.html |

Segeggs:My friend be seriously serious! Is it the business of the FG to build primary schools in states in Nigeria? The answer is NO! Juxtapose it with the FG building MARKETS in the states. Does it make sense to you? The agreement was for the FG to build, provide teaching and learning aids, school uniforms and bags AND handover to the state Govt to manage the schools. Sheekina! The duty of parents( STATES) is to provide the basic necessities of life to their children( including ALMAJIRIS) which includes: food, clothing, shelter, education, etc BUT you are unable to and a helper( THE FG) now offers to assist provide: clothing and education for your children, will it be proper for you( PARENTS/ STATES) or any other person( GOV FASHOLA) to turn around and blame your neighbours( FG) for not helping you in providing everything your children needed in life? Constitutionally, FG deals with tertiary and unity secondary schools, STATES deal with secondary schools and LG deals with Primary schools. So, having shed light within the above context, IS IT MORALLY, LEGALLY AND CONSTITUTIONALLY RIGHT for FASHOLA to have said that? A man who made university education non-accessible to the ordinary Lagosians by increasing schools fees from 60,000 to about 300,000 that sparked protest all over Lagos state? |
After seeing this, I conclude thus; she was merely acting a script since the APC well know that if Koro should step into that senate they won't be able to stop his confirmation, so, the only way to scuttle it is to create and cause a scene that would ELICIT a fightback from AMB Koro. If Koro had fallen for it and maybe even tried to as much as even touched her dress then it would have been viewed or taken as an assault to a senator inside the senate and of course and you know senate can't confirm someone seen to be fighting a senator in its hallowed chambers. So Koro and the PDP had foreknowledge of the plan and adviced him accordingly. |
berem:What lies do you mean? Something not yet seen or heard but just based on "hearsay". Why not see or hear it first before making judgement whether true or false? In the CASE of BURUJI KASHAMU vs OLUSEGUN OBASANJO, the court relied on hard evidence brought to it by KASHAMU before granting that injunction against OBJ from publishing his book "MY WATCH" in Nigeria and not on just hearsay like OSIBANJO case. At least we all saw parts and reviews of the book before publishing. If the kitchen is too hot for you( Osibanjo - APC VP candidate) quit - Gov R Fashola, SAN. Because as long as you are into politics, there are certain things you would not want US to know. |
dre11:Hahahha! Please be balanced in your judgement. Just like when the APC people convicted President Jonathan, Okonjo, Diezani, and the PDP on Sanusi's discredited and unsubstanciated missing $49Billion without any investigations. What have you to say now that an investigation have since proved APC false? |
All the same, thanks to the prompt intervention of the fire service department. It would have been very disasterous for AIT and Nigeria. |
patrick89:Wow! Are you sure of what you are telling us? Because if there is any iota of truth in it then, this might not be the last... |
Some of us would rather prefer whole truths than join in propaganda and assumptions. We will be better off steering away from those that promote half truths and propagandas; hence, this thread. .......................................................................................... FIRE GUTS AIT'S STUDIO MARCH 9, 2015 BY SAMSON FOLARIN 116 Comments Tragedy was averted on Monday morning after fire engulfed the studio of the African Independent Television, Lagos State. Our correspondent learnt that the fire started at 9am after an air conditioner in the studio was affected by high voltage electricity. Men of the Lagos State Fire Service from Agege, Ikeja and Alausa divisions were said to have been mobilised to the scene around 9.30am in three water trucks. Director of Fire Service, Rasak Fadipe, said his men arrived the scene 15 minutes after it got a call. He said it took another 15 minutes to put out the fire. He said, “The fire was caused by high voltage. We arrived at the scene at 9.30am and we spent about 15 minutes for active firefighting operations. “Only the AC was badly damaged as we were able to curtail the spread of the fire. The management of the station had also combatted it and they must be commended for having all the fire equipment.” Fadipe advised residents of the state to be safety conscious, adding that, although the harmattan period was over, the atmosphere is now warm which could also support fire. . www.punchng.com/news/fire-guts-ait-studio/ |

Just check out both rallies; one in Lagos and the other in Abuja - one convened by the Lagos APC leadership in support of GMB and the other convened by Nigerian women and men in sports in support of GEJ. One has the presidential candidate of the party actively involved and the other has its presidential candidate conspiciously absent. First set of photos are those from Lagos and will be followed by those from Abuja.

RIVERS STATE SPONSORED STUDENTS IN THE UNITED KINGDOM 1st March, 2015 The executive governor of Rivers state, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt Through, The executive director, Rivers state Sustainable Development Agency Port Harcourt. Dear Sirs, RIVERS STATE FOREIGN STUDENTS DECRY ABANDONMENT BY RIVERS STATE GOVERNMENT; OWED 5 MONTHS (NOVEMBER 2014- MARCH 2015) ALLOWANCES AND STRANDED. I wish to humbly bring to your notice the current dilemma faced by the students sent overseas by the state government, especially those of us studying in the United Kingdom. The foreign Students on Rivers State Government scholarship via the RSSDA Scholarship scheme decry abandonment by the State government for about 5 months now. Most of us, especially those from very poor background have been evicted from our residential apartments due to inability to pay up our rents as at when due or clear the backlog, and have resorted to squatting and gallivanting in the streets of London, Manchester, Glasgow, Hull, Sunderland, Edinburgh, Nottingham, Oxford etc. in frustration. Many others stand the risk of eviction as I write this letter. This is not the first time the Rivers State Government has fallen short of its obligations to its foreign scholars, and this is not the first time our allowances are been owed (held) for more than 5 months. It is a shame that we have had to in the past forced our families back home to send us feeding money, and the pains they go through in sending this money is unbearable. In the past, children of indigent parents have had to drop out due to their inability to cope with their studies. As at today, some students have been forced by this unfortunate situation to take up menial jobs to cope with survival and it is not clear what the state of their studies is because they have shuttle between workplace and university. No Rivers child deserves to go through life this way and certainly not in a foreign land. Please we appeal to the Rivers State Government to release funds to the RSSDA to enable it meet its obligations to students on foreign scholarship. Many thanks, Fubara Dennis (fubaradennis@gmail.com) University of Oxford . . www.leadership.ng/news/415070/rivers-foreign-students-decry-abandonment |
