radical05: I am very grateful for all the helpful responses regards questions posted here. However we(me n my fiancé) recently thought of something which is...To use the 1.4m from the car sale to pay for the full tuition of the school since the tuition fee is almost 1.4m in naira. Even though we are aware that paying tuition in full doesn't guaranteed a visa but atleast it will remove the headache we have regards money lodgement. he would have followed what @funkybaby suggested but because he wont get the money (1.4m) until DEC 2013 and he wants to show a 6 months bank statement starting from Oct so depositing such huge amount into his savings account is a real red flag hence our recent plan of using that money to pay the tuition in full and then include the tuition fee receipt with the visa application....is this a good plan i.e paying the tuition fees in full before visa application. (btw the university has a refund policy incase visa is denied)
2) The second thing is that his company doesn't pay their salary into an account rather by cash but now that he needs a 6 months bank statement to show at the embassy he wants to inform the company to start paying his salary into his savings account and there would be an evidence of pay slips to show for it from the company. The concern is can one's salary be paid into a savings account with an evidence of pay slips from the company to show for it or is it strictly salary account that salary must be paid into? Pls note that he doesn't have a salary account at all. Can he use the 6 months bank statement(savings account) that the salary has been paid into for visa application?....the money in the savings account will stand for the living expenses, maintenance fees etc since the tuition had been paid in full
Vicjustice, you promise to get back to me please am patiently waiting for your response and every other contributions would be highly appreciated.

Yeah go ahead and use the money to pay your fees. Your application stands a good chance when you've paid your fees in full.

I actually thought you were applying for a visiting visa.

For student visa, you do not have to worry so much about the fact that you have no 'salary' account. The payslips are fine. Once you have your CAS, fees paid, accommodation booked, maintenance money, original certificate and a personal statement explaining the choice of your course, the benefits, blah blah, you are good to go.

I am not blaming the government and am not even looking at things from his own perspective.

Am just looking at the general view of the Nigerian educational sector. Everyday fees are been increased without the commensurate increase in the pay or some sort alleviation for a greater number of the middle class who struggle to send their wards to school.

Shouldn't there be incentives like scholarships and stuff to encourage the indigent but intelligent ones...What about student soft loans(like them paying half when they graduate or spread it over five years) I guess that's a discussion for another day.

Oh ok. I get your point.

You are right. Especially glo. Always signing up brand ambassadors.

I'm yet to see them conduct any yearly graduate recruitment scheme for fresh graduates. However, they dole out money to footballers and actors every month.

onegig: Good job to all those willing to help.

Seriously ...I just hope we do something about the educational sector in this country.

No one seems to care . There are lots of people who can't afford to pay their fees and you see them falling for different things in order to raise such sums of money.

What happened to scholarships and student loans?

Most coys(e.g. Glo esp.) are busy paying wizkid et al millions for shows and endorsements . but question is what about our students?

We all can't thrive on entertainment alone. There are people who need genuine help.

Erm.... I won't be quick to blame the government on this one.

The OP's case is different. He brought this on himself. You fail your final exams =an extra year.

I'm willing to help because I know people that had an extra year at uni, some two sef that are successful and wealthy today.

So it will be sad if you are unable to finish school because of this small "set back".

sundyke107: I have only travelled to Dubai in 2011. Please do you think I have a chance considering my account history as stated earlier?

how much do you think would be your closing bank account balance as at the time you intend applying?

do you have previous travel history?

i think you are better off applying for the france visa first before applying for that of UK

1.5m is a fairly decent amount if you are travelling alone

The random transactions(depositors with different names) in your account due to your loan shark side runs may raise a red flag. I don't know how frequent these transactions are. If they are frequent, then you are better off opening a seperate bank account and carrying out your runs from there. Whatever proceeds (interest) from your side runs can then be transferred back into your salary account.

That said....Are you going as a tourist or family visitor?

Me thinks france is wayyyy easier than that of UK. As long as you have all your docs..(Nothing dodgy), return ticket, necessary letter from a reputable employer, insurance, hotel booking as well asa well written intineary on all the tourist attractions you want to visit there, you will be approved. With the UK visa, there's too much objectively attached to how the ECOs review applications.

sundyke107: Good afternoon gurus in the house (Vicjustice,Justwise, Funkybaby etc. I quite appreciate the good work you guys are doing here.

Please i need your advise as per UK Visa

I work with a subsidiary of Nigerian Stock Exchange. My upfront is 874,000 per annum payable to me every January. My take home per month after upfront is 89,000. I took a loan last year which reduced the take home to 63,000 per month, but just finished repaying the loan last month. I will be earning 89,000 a month till january 2014 when another upfront (874,000) is paid.

My 13th month bonus is 185,000 payable mid next month. Then by January ending, I will be receiving 150,000 as medical support. I have 208,000 in my cscs account (shares). I currently have 470, 000 in my personal account and 66,000 in my salary account both with First Bank. Aside these bonus,upfront/salary, I engage in lending cash to fellow staff and small scale biz men/women on 5-10% interest rates which brings about heavy activities in my account. Will the high activities in my account be seen as money lodgement? I have only travelled to Dubai in 2011.

Actually, i intend to apply for France visa but a friend advised I apply for UK first and thereafter apply for France.

I want to apply for 7days tourist visa by 2014, January ending. I got married in July.

Please what's chances of my getting Uk visa considering the above income status? Please I need your assistant.

Exactly! the ECO will not issue him a visa without knowing jack about the company's financial status else every corner shop will present a conference letter from the UK with a letter attached to it for visa application.

i get your point.

i am not saying that business bank statements should not be submitted for conference related visa applications. my point is that for this case, there should be an exception based on the fact that the business has only 3.5m account closing balance. do note that the guy has said his annual salary is 3m. the company pays 3m per annum yet the best bank statement that could be given to him is one showing 3.5m? that alone is a red flag.

so are we both agreeing that with or without the 3.5m business bank statement (assuming his personal circumstances/docs are not rosy either), the application doesnt look good?

today, a user can be all active posting interesting stuff and all of a sudden, they go cold. it is always bound to happen.

so using that as the basis for your argument against the removal of the deactivation link holds on water.

there was a huge clamour for the deactivation option.... seun was smart not to have ignored it.

what keeps a forum going strong is it's admin. good admin will always listen to what the members ask for and not take the 'membership' for granted.

go and ask the guys behind previously hugely popular forums like faceoffestac.net and NVS.

with time people will get used to having the deactivation option.

after all, there was so much venom when seun changed the template and format for this site and now everyone is happy and used to it.

funkybaby think those documents are necessary if the company is not one of those big pharmaceutical companies that turns out hundreds of millions yearly, their financial strength need to be determine so as to know if they can afford such foreign conference and still be in business, pay staff etc.

Well known companies will not need to present those documents but for unknown companies those documents are necessary.

My opinion though.

emphasis on the bolded.

including a business bank statement with just 3.5m closing balance does not make his application look good.....that's the plain truth.... that balance is rather low....if we are to deduct his travel expenses, etc for the conference, wetin go remain for the account? grin grin

besides, he seems to be more concerned about the company's docs rather than his own personal docs.

oddy4u: My company is sending me for a conference holding between dec 17-19 and the company is a pharmaceutical company and the conference is been organised by the british pharmacology association and I am attending as pharmacist. The company has paid the conference fees of £125 and also also booked an hotel for me.All the required documents including including the letter to the consular has been included including my payslip for the past four months. My concern now is my salary is about 3million per annum and the balance of the statement of account of the company is also 3.5million and the profit declared for last year on the tax certificate is about 3.2million,hpe the balance on the companys account is not low even though there has been a lot of depositing and withdraws.Hope I have a good chance of the visa been approved

in my own opinion, there really is no need to include the company's business bank statement and all that.

all you need from them is a letter confirming that you are a staff and they are sponsoring you as a representative at the conference. the letter should also state what benefit the pharmaceutical company will get (if any) from sending you to the UK for the conference (considering the fact that they are financially responsible for your trip).

now, the onus is on you to proof that you have strong ties to nigeria and you will not ABSCOND and not return once you get into the UK or break any immigration law. you have to show that you have strong (family) ties to nigeria and also proof that you are financially stable in nigeria and you have a job that you love and would be returning to once the conference is over.

the UK peeps dont give a damn about the company sponsoring you. your employer can decide to give you a 1st class ticket and lodge you at the best hotel but the main question is will you return back home once the conference is over? so make sure you have enough docs in your application relating to yourself proving your ties to the courntry.

do you have previous travel history?

some people on nairaland are just damn disgusting and incorrigible in their thinking. I have said it several times that this present minister of aviation is doing more harm than good, but people would not let us air our views.

Planting flowers and remodelling doesn't go in tandem with safety and security. This current minister has abandoned her ministerial duties for some humongous projects which doesn't have any meaningful impact on the safety and security of passengers

our airports are stil deteriorating day by day, the facilities are decaying, no airport in Nigeria still has perimeter fencing, some equipments needed at the airports are still begging for attention, the MMIA can't still boast of any air condition, our airspace is far from being safe despite the enormous propaganda being processed to the media, etc.

immediately Demuren was removed as DG of NCAA, Stella Oduah brought over 300 people who are mainly igbos to NCAA as staff. infact, under 2012 Civil Aviation Policy, the power to license and regulate the airlines has been shifted from the DG of NCAA to the horrendous minister of aviation, and yet, some gulible folks still have the mouth to question our rationale for criticising the minister

nice one!

nokingasgod: Every day it amazes me how Nigerians of Nairaland evolved. They are pathologically bigotic, ignorant, uncouth, crude, biased, short-sighted and ill-informed. If these are true representative of average Nigerians, then there is no hope for the Nigerian project.

I am not a fan of FFK and neither am I a hater, I would rather we appraised his message and not his personality because you don't throw the baby with the bath. The incessant air mishaps in recent times is more than enough reason for the minister of aviation to have been sacked. In civilized environment she would have voluntarily resigned because as far as aviation is concerned in Nigeria, the bucks stopped on her table. And as if to give credence to FFK's comments, the minister came out not only to further demonstrate her insensitivity and naivety but to also insult Nigerians using languages most unbecoming of her position.

Rather than the ''crucify him'' song on FFK, think we should critically looked into some of the assertions he made in that essay and see how the insights could be useful in preventing future air crashes. That does not make FFK a saint who could not be reproached when necessary.

We should not allow our hatred for a personality to becloud our senses of reasoning, judgment and decision.

you also forgot to add that in april 2007, while FKK was still avaiation minister, he announced the withdrawal of operating licences (AOC`s) of seven airlines that failed to meet the requirements and re-certified 13 others.

The banned airlines were Aviation Development Company (ADC), Sosoliso Airlines, Fresh Airlines, Albarka Airlines, Chrome Airlines, Dasab Airlines and Space World Airlines. The recapitalised airlines include Aero Contractors Airlines, Afrijet Airlines, Allied Airlines, Associated Airlines, Bellview Airlines, Chanchangi Airlines, Dornier Aviation Nigeria Limited, NICON Airways, IRS Airlines, Overland Airways, Air Midwest, Arik Airlines and Virgin Nigeria. she might be due special favours from GEJ. he does not have to remove her from his ministerial list. all he has to do is redeploy her to another ministry. eg. ministry of women affairs and replace her with someone more competent.

you cannot force people to remain as members of an online forum.

people should have the option of deactivating their accounts if they wish to do so.

what you should be canvassing for is the creation of the option to reactivate such accounts if they wish to do so.

in my own opinion, the account deactivation option is a welcome development and it does not in anyway 'devalue' the nairaland brand, affect the number of new members or reduce the number of 'hits'.

those who are 'loyal' members of the forum will remain

Why must you grill them and have them explain who the so called friend is like this particular 'person' is fond of doing? Does it matter? Does it change anything? Is that not being petty? This is a faceless forum for crying out loud.

If they've said they are representing a friend, what's the big deal in that? Not everyone knows nairaland or is aware that they can get answers to visa issues online.

Besides, we have given advice to various people based on things that have happened to our 'friends'/what they've experienced and they've chosen to share with us. I have never applied for a Canadian study permit but I know how the entire process works because someone close to me applied and she was refused.

I will use you as an example. someone comes here seeking advice regarding a deportation saga. You answer the person's questions intelligently and you refer to the fact that your 'friend' has gone through such deportation problem. Should we all then conclude that justwise has been deported before and the friend is non-existent when in reality the person involved wasn't you but your friend that narrated the entire experience to you.

Who you should be upset with are those that open new accounts, very first post is 'how can I get a visa', you give them detailed answer and then they never come back to tell you if the advice/suggestion worked or not so that others can also learn from their experience.
