Politics / Uniting Ogun State PDP: A Call To Rescue The State From Ineffective Leadership by Fyzt: 10:47am On Apr 07
*Uniting Ogun State PDP: A Call to Rescue the State from Ineffective Leadership*

By Dr Oludare Atinshola

In the vibrant tapestry that makes up Nigeria's political landscape, Ogun State stands out not just for its historical significance and economic potential but also for the pivotal role it plays in shaping the nation's political discourse. However, recent times have seen the state grappling with challenges attributed to ineffective governance, casting a shadow over its progress and the well-being of its citizens. Amidst this backdrop, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State faces a critical juncture. The party's ability to unite and present a coherent, robust front is not just vital for its own revival but is imperative for the rescue of Ogun State from the clutches of bad leadership.

*The Urgency of Unity*

Unity within the PDP is not merely a political strategy; it is a necessity for the state's recovery and growth. The fragmentation within the party has often been its Achilles' heel, detracting from its ability to effectively challenge the status quo and advocate for the masses' needs. The call for unity is, therefore, a call for strength—a rallying cry for all members to set aside differences, recognize the common goal, and harness their collective power to initiate meaningful change.

* *A Vision for Good Governance*

To rescue Ogun State from the throes of ineffective governance, the PDP must articulate a clear, compelling vision that resonates with the citizens. This vision should encompass sustainable development, economic revitalization, improved social services, and a firm commitment to transparency and accountability. It must address the pressing issues of unemployment, security, and infrastructural decay, presenting pragmatic solutions grounded in the realities of the state's socio-economic landscape.

*Engaging the Citizenry*

A united PDP must also prioritize engagement with the people of Ogun State, building bridges of trust and communication. The disillusionment with politics as usual is palpable among the citizenry, many of whom feel alienated from the political process. By fostering a participatory approach, where the voices of the people are not just heard but are instrumental in shaping policy, the PDP can galvanize widespread support and inspire a renewed belief in the power of governance to effect positive change.

*Leveraging Youth and Innovation*

The youth demographic represents a significant portion of Ogun State's population, and their energy, creativity, and innovative spirit are untapped resources that the PDP must leverage. By championing policies that empower the youth—through education, entrepreneurship, and digital innovation—the party can drive the state towards modernization and sustainable development. The inclusion of young voices in leadership roles within the party can also serve as a catalyst for change, signaling a commitment to generational renewal.

*Conclusion*

As Ogun State stands at a crossroads, the imperative for the PDP to unite and spearhead the charge for a better future cannot be overstated. The challenges are daunting, but the potential for transformation is immense. A united PDP, grounded in a commitment to good governance and responsive to the aspirations of its people, can be the vehicle for this change. The task ahead is not just to rescue Ogun State from bad leadership but to set it on a path of prosperity and excellence. The time for action is now—the people of Ogun State deserve no less.

Politics / The Imperative Of Reinstating Senator Ningi: A Stand Against Budget Padding by Fyzt: 10:07pm On Mar 28
**The Imperative of Reinstating Senator Ningi: A Stand Against Budget Padding**

By Dr. Atinshola Oludare

In the tapestry of democratic governance, the discourse around transparency and accountability forms the very warp and weft of its fabric. It is within this context that the recent suspension of Senator Ningi must be revisited, not merely as a procedural footnote in the annals of legislative practice but as a pivotal moment that calls into question the very principles upon which our democratic institutions rest.

Senator Ningi's comments, which led to his suspension, were not merely expressions of personal discontent but a reflection of a broader, more systemic issue that plagues our nation's budgetary process—budget padding. His outspoken stance against this malpractice was not an affront to the dignity of the legislative body, as it has been portrayed, but rather a courageous act of whistleblowing that seeks to protect the public interest.

Budget padding, the act of inflating budgetary allocations for personal or sectional gains, is a malaise that undermines the economic health of our nation. It distorts developmental priorities, misallocates resources, and essentially constitutes a betrayal of public trust. When elected officials, like Senator Ningi, take a stand against such practices, they should be lauded for their integrity, not penalized.

The suspension of Senator Ningi, therefore, raises serious concerns about the space for dissenting voices within our legislative chambers. It poses critical questions about the mechanisms for internal accountability and the extent to which transparency is truly valued in our public institutions. If the penalty for speaking out against corruption is suspension, what message does this send about our collective stance against graft?

Moreover, the suspension of Senator Ningi has implications that extend beyond the individual to the very constituents he represents. His absence from the legislative chamber means a significant portion of our population is effectively silenced, their concerns unvoiced, and their needs unmet. This is antithetical to the principles of representative democracy and undermines the legitimacy of legislative proceedings.

Therefore, it is imperative that Senator Ningi be reinstated without delay. This is not merely a matter of rectifying an individual grievance but a necessary step towards reinforcing our commitment to transparency, accountability, and democratic governance. By reinstating Senator Ningi, the legislative body has an opportunity to reaffirm its dedication to fighting corruption, to restore faith in the integrity of our public institutions, and to ensure that the voices of the people, through their elected representatives, are heard and valued.

In conclusion, the suspension of Senator Ningi over his comments against budget padding should be seen not as a disciplinary necessity but as a call to action—a moment for introspection and reform within our legislative framework. It is a reminder that the fight against corruption requires not just institutional mechanisms but the courage of individuals to speak out, and the collective will to support such voices. Let us, therefore, stand in solidarity with Senator Ningi, not merely for the man but for what he represents—a resilient commitment to integrity, transparency, and the democratic values we hold dear.

Politics / Bauchi Group Calls For Investigation Into Senator Abdul Ningi's Suspension Amids by Fyzt: 12:17pm On Mar 20
### Bauchi Group Calls for Investigation into Senator Abdul Ningi's Suspension Amidst Budget Padding Allegations

In a bold move that has ignited public discourse across Bauchi State and beyond, a prominent group of agitators has called for a thorough probe into the suspension of Senator Abdul Ningi. The senator's suspension, which has raised eyebrows in political and social circles, was a result of his outspoken comments concerning alleged budget padding within the legislative framework. At the helm of this call for transparency and accountability is Ambassador Imran Abdulahi, the group’s leader, who has not shied away from voicing the concerns of many in the community.

Senator Ningi, a well-known figure for his advocacy for transparency and good governance, found himself in the crosshairs of controversy following his candid remarks about discrepancies in the budgeting process. His suspension has been met with significant backlash, with many viewing it as an attempt to silence a critical voice within the legislative chamber.

Ambassador Imran Abdulahi, speaking on behalf of the Bauchi group, emphasized the importance of upholding the principles of democracy and free speech. "The suspension of Senator Abdul Ningi is not just an affront to him as an individual but to the very foundations of our democratic values," Abdulahi stated. "It raises serious questions about the integrity of our legislative processes and the commitment of our leaders to transparency."

The group's call for an investigation into the suspension is not merely about reinstating a senator but is seen as a fight for the soul of governance in the state and the country at large. They argue that if allegations of budget padding are true, it warrants a broader examination of the legislative process to root out corruption and ensure that public funds are used for the welfare of the citizens.

Ambassador Abdulahi's leadership in this campaign has galvanized support from various quarters, including civil society organizations, youth groups, and concerned citizens. The group has outlined a plan of action that includes peaceful protests, engagement with other stakeholders, and leveraging social media to spread awareness about the issue.

In a statement, the group called on the legislative body to "immediately lift the suspension of Senator Ningi and initiate a transparent, independent investigation into the allegations of budget padding." They further urged the public to remain vigilant and engaged in the democratic process, advocating for a system where accountability is not just expected but demanded by the citizens.

As the situation unfolds, the eyes of many within and outside Bauchi State remain fixed on this critical issue. The outcome of this agitation led by Ambassador Imran Abdulahi and his group could set a precedent for how dissent and allegations of corruption are handled in the political landscape of Nigeria, highlighting the ongoing struggle between the forces of transparency and those who would prefer to operate in the shadows.

Religion / Factors That Influence Cost Of Sallah Meat In Nigeria By Oludare Atinshola by Fyzt: 4:38pm On Jun 27, 2023
The cost of Sallah meat in Nigeria can be influenced by several factors. Here are a few reasons why Sallah meat might be costly:

Supply and demand: During the Sallah period, there is usually an increased demand for meat as families and communities prepare for the festive celebrations. This higher demand can drive up the prices due to limited supply.

Seasonal fluctuations: The availability of livestock and the cost of animal feed can vary throughout the year. Factors such as weather conditions, disease outbreaks, and market conditions can impact the availability and cost of livestock, which in turn affects the price of Sallah meat.

Transportation and logistics: Transporting livestock from rural areas to urban centers can involve additional costs such as fuel, labor, and maintenance. These costs can contribute to the overall price of Sallah meat.

Inflation and economic factors: General economic conditions, inflation rates, and fluctuations in currency value can impact the cost of goods and services, including meat. If there is overall inflation or economic instability, it can result in higher prices for Sallah meat.

Butchering and processing costs: The cost of slaughtering, butchering, and processing the animals can add to the final price of the meat. Labor, equipment, and hygiene standards can influence these costs.

Cultural and regional factors: Different regions in Nigeria may have varying cultural preferences for specific types of meat, which can affect their availability and price. For example, certain types of meat may be more popular and therefore more expensive in specific areas.

It's important to note that these factors can vary from year to year and are subject to market dynamics and local conditions.
Politics / Unpacking The Dynamics Of Election Rigging In Ogun State: Causes, Consequences by Fyzt: 1:21pm On Mar 30, 2023
Unpacking the Dynamics of Election Rigging in Ogun State: Causes, Consequences, and the Way Forward by Oludare Atinshola ( Former Ogun State Liaison Officer ASO)

As the world becomes more politically conscious, it is imperative that governments are held accountable for their actions. In recent times, there have been allegations of election rigging in Ogun State, Nigeria. The incumbent governor of Ogun State Dapo Abiodun has been accused of rigging the elections in his favor, and as such, his victory is being questioned.

There is ample evidence to suggest that the elections were not free and fair in Ogun State. Reports of voter intimidation, ballot box snatching, and vote-buying were widespread across the state. The opposition party has also accused the ruling party of using state resources to influence the outcome of the elections.

In addition to these accusations, there were also reports of irregularities during the collation of results. In some polling units, the number of votes cast exceeded the number of registered voters, suggesting that the results were manipulated.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has also been accused of complicity in the rigging of the elections. There were reports of INEC officials colluding with the ruling party to manipulate the results in their favor.

Furthermore, the opposition party's agents were reportedly not allowed to monitor the voting process, which is a clear violation of electoral laws. This prevented them from effectively monitoring the elections and detecting any irregularities that might have occurred.

It is essential that we hold our leaders accountable for their actions. The rigging of elections undermines democracy and erodes the confidence of the people in the electoral process. The people of Ogun State deserve to have their voices heard and their votes counted.

In conclusion, the allegations of election rigging in Ogun State cannot be ignored. The incumbent governor's victory is being questioned, and there is ample evidence to suggest that the elections were not free and fair. It is the responsibility of the government, the electoral commission, and the international community to investigate these allegations thoroughly and ensure that justice is done. The people of Ogun State deserve nothing less than a fair and transparent electoral process. I remain Oludare Atinshola Former Liaison Officer and SW G16 Secretary

The World’s Most Powerful Commercial Rooftop Panel Tiger Neo 605W To Be Installed In Hainan
2022.02.09 14:23:57

SunPower one of the largest and most innovative solar module manufacturers in the world, today announced that its 10MW of the newest, advanced Tiger Neo 605W solar panel, featuring the company’s innovative N-type cells, will be installed on rooftops of several schools in Dongfang City, Hainan province, China. Tiger Neo is one of the most powerful panels on the market today, providing outstanding output, generating maximum 605W from its 156 cells while simultaneously minimizing power loss.

The Tiger Neo 605W solar panel is versatile and ideal for both utility and commercial applications as it combines high power output and efficiency, and long-lasting reliability backed by a 30-year warranty, delivering enhanced performance compared to other models. This series range will be available in 600W – 615W, offering an efficiency of 21.46% – 22.00%.

Beyond efficiency, improved high temperature performance is another key feature of Tiger Neo panel. Since the ambient temperature would affect the annual energy yield of a PV System significantly, and they are of increasing importance for PV projects located in tropical regions particularly since the decrease of energy yield with temperature will be of greater amount. Tiger Neo utilizes N-type cells with a temperature coefficient of -0.30 percent per degree Celsius, while p-type module’s temperature coefficient was found to be -0.35 percent or more, which means that that energy yield for Tiger Neo modules is less affected by temperature than conventional modules.

Tiger Neo is also resistant to light-induced degradation (LID) and LeTID, the loss of performance from exposure to sunlight or and combined with heat after installation. Tiger Neo has an improved degradation to other modules with 1% versus 2% of p-type modules for initial year, 0.4% versus 0.55% of p-type for rest of the module life.

“It is great to have 10MW of our Tiger Neo 605W panel to be installed confidently for school rooftop in Hainan, China,” said Yaofeng, GM of SunPower China, “the enhanced power and efficiency, warranty, durability, performance under real environment, and optimal size and weight makes Tiger Neo 605W panel suitable for commercial roofs as well as utility projects.”"

Alleged Corrupt Practice: I Have Visited US Several Times, Never Been Detained, Atiku Lambasts Afegbua

Akinola Kassim Afegbua, a former commissioner for information in Edo state, has been asked to prepare for litigation over false claims against Atiku.

Afegbua alleged that the former vice president could not visit United States of America over corruption Atiku, however, dismissed the claims, saying that he has never been detained, harassed or questioned by the US.

Former vice president and leading presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has responded to a false claim by a former commissioner for information in Edo state, Kassim Afegbua against him.

Afegbua had alleged that the ex-vice president was accused of demanding a bribe of $500,000 to facilitate the award of contracts to two American telecommunication firms in Nigeria.

Former vice president Atiku Abubakar said he has visited US several times in the last few years.

The director-general of Face of Waziri-Nigeria (FOWN), Ade Bukky, said Atiku would not have ordinarily responded to Afegbua’s false claim because he knew he was sponsored by his paymasters to malign his integrity ahead of 2023 presidential election, but the statement was meant to put the record straight for posterity.

Bukky noted that Atiku never demanded any money from anyone, adding that the ex-president had travelled to the US many times and that he has never been detained, harassed or questioned.

He added that Atiku is the most investigated in Nigeria and that till this moment, nothing was found against him or any of his family members, saying that the presidential hopeful has nothing to do with 500,000 dollars when he has chains of legitimate businesses in Nigeria.

Afegbua is being sponsored by his paymasters According to him, Afegbua is only displaying and acting the scripts of his pay masters from the south-south and southwest, adding that he is only bent on tarnishing the image of Atiku since he couldn’t get the position and money he requested from the former VP and the technical committee he set up for the actualisation of his aspiration.

Bukky said: “Atiku never demanded any money from anyone. Atiku had travelled to the US many times and he has never been detained, harassed or questioned.

The US is a country that is well organised and don’t joke with comprehensive investigation. “Atiku is the most investigated in Nigeria and till this moment, nothing was found against him or any of his family members.

He further stated: “Afegbua is a serial job and money seeker known by all. He will lick any plate so far he could find a remnant of piece of soup and crunch of bones there.

Afegbua will surely have a date with court soon for defamation of character. Afegbua has no known business except the blackmail job he does around Abuja to make ends meet.

“No wonder his former employer IBB discarded him like a tissue paper because of his lies, arrogance and serial demands for money. Atiku is focus, steadfast and unshakable by Afegbua and his paymasters.

“Atiku had been investigated thoroughly on Halliburton and US find nothing against him and also Nigeria find nothing against him, Afegbua was only throwing tantrum since he knows Atiku will get PDP ticket.”

Osun PDP Ticket: Adeleke Clears Further Legal Hurddle as Appeal Court Confirms Expiration of Interim Order

Senator Ademola Adeleke has consolidated his candidacy as the governorship candidate of the People's Democratic Party(PDP) as Court of Appeal today confirmed expiration of Interim order.

The Appeal Court sitting on the application ex-parte for substituted service and for discharge of interim orders of Aderibigbe J., directed that the prayer for discharge of the interim orders be withdrawn same having expired automatically as there was nothing to discharge, the Court however granted the prayer for substituted service of the appeal processes on the Respondents through publication in the Punch Newspaper. The hearing of the appeal has been fixed for 31st March, 2022. In the Appeal brought by the Appellants' Counsel Hashim Abioye Esq., leading Dr. Kehinde Kolawole Esq., the appellate court observed that there is no need to apply for the vacation of an interim order as it automatically lapses at the end of seven days unless renewed.

The Court holds that there is nothing to vacate as the said order issued by Justice Aderibigbe had ceased to exist after seven days especially as it was not renewed.

The Court remarked that any lawyer who insisted an interim order has indefinite life span should be reported to the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee.

As part of the proceedings, the judge further directed that appeal court processes should be served on lawyers to Dotun Babayemi through publication in the Punch Newspaper.

The proceeding at the Appeal Court today further confirmed that neither the PDP nor the electoral commission is barred from recognising and processing Ademola Adeleke as the governorship candidate of PDP in Osun state.

While we congratulate the Peoples Democratic Party, Osun State Chapter and her candidate for the 2022 Osun Governorship election, Senator Ademola Adeleke, we commend and appreciate the erudite Justices of the appellate court for stemming the tide of reckless and fraudulent interim orders.

Signed
Mallam Olawale Rasheed,
