Education › Re: IPPIS: ASUU To Meet NASS Leaders In Fight Against Payroll System Controversy by gaetano: 7:25am On Oct 28, 2019 |
Why ASUU is against newly introduced IPPIS
1. Some lecturers work in more than one university 2. The current payment system allow arbitrary deductions by ASUU from it members salaries 3. Thousands of dead lecturers still exist on the payroll reason why some VCs support ASUU
ASUU is becoming increasingly irresponsible. If they are talking about university autonomy as the reason for rejecting IPPIS, then they should be ready to ask the government to stop all forms of funding to the universities to make the autonomy complete. |

Yusufnairaland2: I hope all of this is sustainable at the longrun. Seyi have been running a largely socialist government. More or less a father Christmas type of govt. Increasing expenditure without a corresponding increase in revenue. I just hope it all sustainableq... Quite the opposite. No trader is using the shops because of cost of rent, they all moved to the roadside. He engaged them and found out why, thus leading to reduction in rent. Now the Govt will be getting money they are not getting monthly. It's a wonderful strategy. Why build shops and leave them vacant. If you've visited yaba in Lagos you'll notice all those newly built shops by Lagos state government are empty, this is because of the cost, the government haven't made money from that infrastructure over the years. If they adopt this strategy then every trader will pick shops and pay rent instead of Lagos state government leaving it empty. |

That man owe his life to the last hitman. he had better compensate the hitman, and make sure his stay in prison is palatable, because if that guy happen to be a real hitman, he would've been a dead meat by now. Example is Nigeria where people kill for as low as N10k
lalasticlala, mynd44, Dominique This shit is so hilarious . But they should have let the last hitman go free. They still sent him to jail despite reporting to the police |

Crime › Lai: I stand by what I said… Boko Haram has been technically defeated by gaetano(op): 6:16pm On Oct 21, 2019*. Modified: 10:56am On Oct 22, 2019 |
Lai Mohammed, minister of information, says he is standing by his comment that Boko Haram has been technically defeatedMohammed said this on Monday when he visited the headquarters of The Sun newspaper in Lagos.
He said his position in 2015 that Boko Haram had been technically defeated was based on what he saw on the ground when he led a team of local and international journalists to the epicentre of insurgency.
The minister said Nigeria is currently facing global terrorism that has no boundary or frontier.
“I stand by what I said that Boko Haram is technically defeated. What we are having today is global terrorism where you have the ISIS, ISWAP Al-qaeda all working together,” Mohammed said.
“Terrorism is a global issue. Between 2009 and 2015 we were fighting Boko Haram, but today we are fighting global terrorism where the remnants of the Army in Syria are now joining hands with the ISWAP and others.
“I was on ground in Bama, Konduga and Maiduguri and I know what I saw before I made that claim. We are fighting global terrorism and that is why we are appealing to our foreign partners, especially the UN and our neighbours.
“By the time we get more platforms and the new helicopters that are being expected there will be tremendous improvement.”
The minister also said fake news needs to be checked.
“Fake news and hate speech pose imminent threat to the survival of the nation’s existence. The purveyors of siamese twins of evil must be checkmated and government will continue to engage to end the menace,” he said.
“We expect you to remain in the vanguard of the efforts to tackle fake news and hate speech. We expect you to educate our people on the efforts being made, especially by the government, in this regard.” https://www.thecable.ng/lai-i-stand-by-what-i-said-boko-haram-has-been-technically-defeated/amp

FG Directs MTN To Suspend Planned Charges On Banking Services, Says It’s Not Aware
The Minister of Communication, Isa Ali Pantami on Sunday said the federal government has directed telecommunications giant, MTN to suspend its plan to place a N4 charge on its customers for USSD access to banking services.
Many customers woke up over the weekend to receive shocking text from MTN informing them of the commencement of the new charge from October 21
The text read, “Yello, as requested by your bank, from Oct 21, we will start charging you directly for USSD access to banking services. Please contact your bank for more info.*
However, the minister on his Twitter handle handle said the government will investigate the new charge as it is not aware
He wrote, “Many thanks for drawing my attention to it. We have directed NCC to ask MTN to suspend the plan. We are not aware of it officially. We will investigate and make sure right thing is done. Best wishes! http://ivotesng.com/2019/10/20/fg-directs-mtn-to-suspend-planned-charges-on-banking-services-says-its-not-aware/
