Hope not too late; Very demanding new 'oga!' Sent my application/supporting documents to embassy at Washington as indicated on site; but U first have to purchase 2 money orders before U start filling the online application as you will be asked to input the details on the money orders: $180 money order addressed to Nig embassy & $ 85 addressed to Innovate1Services [they work with embassy]. Embassy site will redirect U to Innovate site for the application process. A Reference/ID no. is generated on completion of your online application. This is what the embassy needs to process your application.

P.S. u need to be a little fast (& patient) when completing the form to avoid several time outs but don't be discouraged, it's quite easy to fill!

Well detailed. Thanks

Hello Mamas and Papas in the house !!! Happy New year to everyone!
Congratulation to everyone who had their Visas granted, successful POE, safe delivery and successful completion of their missionary journey. And For those whose went otherwise, never give up...keep pushing forward. To God be the Glory!!!

My missionary journey began over a week ago when I arrived at Newark, my POE. God was in control and it went thus;
CBP: hello, Passport? why are you here?
Me: hello, to have my baby.
CBP Seemed a newbie, so a nearby CBP who overheard my response quickly told him what to do.
CBP: where will that be and have you Got any Dr's correspondence?
Me: yes and handed it to him
CBP: Good! So how much have you got
Me: $? And my DH will be coming with more before my delivery.
CBP: stamped me in for 6mth and wished me a safe delivery and a happy stay.

Thanking God for a smooth entry and praying for a safe supernatural delivery and a testimony filled successful missionary journey for us all. Amen
Thanking all those who have helped me in one way or the other on this forum, God bless you real good!!!

Your flight delay was a blessing in disguise.
May this favour follow you all through your missionary journey.

mom2015:
Good evening NL family. In the spirit of giving back, this is my experience.i came into Chicago on Friday 9th of December.
My flight was meant to be on Wednesday via arik airlines at 10:30pm, unfortunately it was cancelled till 10:30am the following day and I wasn't notified. I waited till 12:00am to check in my bags cos they were a lot before going back home. I got back to MMA again around 9am on Thursday and there was a lot of commotion at the arik kiosk. Other customers from london, New York, South Africa took over the counter and refused the staff from checking us in. We waited till 4pm before the officials resumed checking the passengers bag and it took abt2hrs of our time. At 6pm, they started boarding us but not on the flight, we were kept in a cubicle where we stayed another 2hrs. During this period, they explained that they were waiting for the captain to inspect the plane, thereafter they were waiting for the cabin crew, thereafter they said the fuel wasn't sufficient and they needed abt 3tons of fuel. Finally, we were boarded into the plane where we waited another 1hr in the very hot plane, they said the fuel wasn't enough and that they needed more fuel. At that point the passengers were furious and insisted that the pilot moved the plane otherwise they will all be beaten up. Finally at 9:10pm, we started our journey to JFK. The pilot did a great job taking off and landing even to the extent that all of the passengers clapped for him, the food on board was fantastic but there was no entertainment on board but no one needed it cos we were all tired. The plane was really nice and I was wowed, even the passengers commended arid on that.
We got to JFK on Friday around 4:00am and I requested for a wheelchair but I had a toddler with me so I couldn't use it but my interview with the cbp officer was fast tracked.
I filled the self help electronic device and I was cleared even though I had a lot of African food with me. I waited for some minutes and it was my turn with a dark skinned elderly cbp officer. My interview went thus;

Me: Good morning (hands over myself and baby's passport)
Cbp: hi, why are you here? (Scans my passport)
Me: To give birth to my baby
Cbp: wow, wow, wow while looking at the computer screen
Me: I hope there is no problem cos I can hear u wowing
Cbp: not at all, how long will you stay in the USA
Me: three months
Cbp: I have just one little problem with u, u will be staying for 3months but ur visa expires in jan
Me: yes, it will. I sent a mail to the embassy and was told that I'll be fine but that my entry to the USA is dependent on ur own discretion.
Cbp: nods his head and stamps me in for 6months. No documents asked , no agriculture.
I was struggling with my begs when I was leaving and he Called me to ask what. Had in my bag and I told him my baby foodstuff and her clothes. He also asked if I had liquid stuff in my bag and I said no. He then asked me to proceed to collect my baggages and I was free to leave.
No secondary inspection,no agriculture. All in all took abt 2mins.
I took a delta flight to Chicago and I'm still trying to get used to the weather.
Abeg for mamas looking to fly before visa expires, pls be prepared ooo, and don't get to usa on the day ur visa expires cos ur flight might be delayed.

My appreciation goes to my personal persons firstymom,ladyG,Sugah,Gagat,etc....

Went thru Atl Poe today, flight was totally full, the hostess thought I was going to pop on board, cos was sick on board, anyways at Atl Poe, did the passport scanning and met the cbp officer,
Co; what are u here for
My hubby: to delivery our baby
Co: how long are u here for
Hubby: 2weeks for him n 60days for the rest of the family.
Co: what do you do?
Hubby: blah
Co: delivery date?
I chipped in December 14
Co:are you using same hospital?
Me: yes
This told less than 3mins,
Stamped us till may 2017
As we were leaving I think we misplace the i94 card given to us on board, so currency control ask us how much we had, and we said 9,900, that's was how we were sent to secondary inspection, my kids were just playing around in there, spent like 20mns before they called us, ask us for previous receipts and asked to check our bags but our checked in luggage did not come with our flight, well they were really nice and gave us our passports. Atl weather is cool.

TOKNOW:
A little tips on how am coping in this high dollar era.
Before I left, I could not get any PTA after my efforts, I eventually bought 3000 dollars at 467 and left. Before then,I had done some money gram,so I picked up my money gram. I got to know that GTB master card does online/pos transactions at 320/dollar,but only 100 dollar per month, what I did was to get four people (brothers, sisters, inlaws) whom I paid in an equivalent of the 100dollar and who have GTB cards, so they gave me their card details, and every month I have 400dollars at 320 naira to shop online or do Uber and stuffs like that.I only use my GTB card on POS where the physical card is needed.

I also got a credit card from Diamond bank that gives me 1000dollars per month, at the rate of 400 naira/dollar. I use this card to pay for parts of my hospital bills and any bill I can pay partly in case if the 1000dollar limit finishes,I continue the payment next month. These methods have really been helpful to me, even as my hubby was coming,he could not also get travelex PTA from Abuja and black market rate was/is 470, I advised him to just buy 1000dollar just to have some cash on in case of POE, that the method am applying is sufficient.

Great idea for survival

After you have ur birth certificate (I did 2)
For the American passport I downloaded the form and filled them don't sign you take it to a notary public at DHL office or I think regular post office with all required documents and a notary public officer will be there and you and hubby (I Donno d process if hubby is absent) sign in his presence and he attaches his signature with ur passports photocopies and pix then you head to Howard county library and pay for expedited had my baby's pix taken there too.
For the Nigerian one you go to the website note how much and what name to address the postal/money order to,there is a place to write ur baby's name then we sent it expedited.they sent us a mail when they received it but for my friend they delayed so she headed to the consulate with the photocopy and all documents speak Yoruba well and pay for expedited you wud get it same day or next,if ur impatient u can get a visa ,the American passport took the longest

Great! Very explict! Thanks

Flight
We were to fly to Dubai first, have a 21hr stop over (I chose that intentionally) then to JFK, 7hrs stopover then to Chicago. Trip to Dubai was good, toddlers will always be one but he slept half way through.
Note: Dey asked for my fit to fly in Naija, I showed them but it did not have my due date, fortunately I had other documents from my hospital which had all d other details. In Dubai, nice peeps, attended to us and transported us to our hotel. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner, slept very well and they transported us to the airport for our NY flight. E be like set my belle Tripple with the food I chop for hotel as about two different Emirates staff b4boarding asked for my fit to fly. No Ish, showed them and off we went. In the plane the attendants were awesome, I asked them to help me get an empty set of 2-3seats for me to lay my baby, they got me options and helped me relocate. Fortunately my son slept for about 8-9hrs. Then we arrived at JFK.

Poe
We got there about 8:30am and we're the only flight at immigration then, did the e-book entry thingy, there were 3 options usa/canadian citizen, USA visa and something else. Did for my son with the first option and the 2nd option for me got our print out and proceeded to the cbp. When I got to his presence, we exchanged greetings, Gd morning, Gd morning and I gave him our passports, he asked how long we would be staying, I said 8weeks and he asked why? Then I responded - To have my baby. He den said Oo. Left his seat, asked if I had any bank statement, I said no but I had 9k cash. Then he stamped me in for 6months. I proceeded to Agric, dey asked what I wanted to declare, told them, pepper, egusi, garri, pondo and d guy stamped something and said I could go without them scanning my bag, den I told him I noticed they did not stamp my sons passport, he responded that, it was bcoz he was a citizen and dey don't have to do it except we insisted. I told him that was fine and off I went.
Pushed my baggage to Emirates who shipped my bags to the local flight they had booked for us (jet blue). We went there by train, asked if I could get an earlier flight but none was available. So we waited for the remaining hours, was surprised how time flew and den we boarded our last flight. And in 3hrs we were in Chicago. D chill that day at Chicago was one in town. Our host picked us up and off we went.

Now waiting for my momma and den LO. I hope my long post wasn't tiring. Thanks to everyone.

Dxbconnection:
Hello All,

This post is long overdue. To say I am a silent reader is an under-statement. Every single time you see 'and so so guests' I am one of those guests.

I started following this thread in 2011 when my best friend since forever and I decided to have a baby. grin . A daughter we would name Mercedes!!! (Do not judge me.. I was watching Glee at the time) Anyway last year we got married and now we are going to have a baby May 2017. Rest assured, baby name has changed.

My visa story is not eventful. I have always had US visa, but this renewal early this year got me worried because i had just moved to another country and hadn't even worked up to 4 months. I considered going to My husband's visa was still valid by a few months, mine by 3 weeks, but we decided to renew same time to streamline.

Usual questions- where do you work etc etc. When did you get married, do you have family (My husband's family is in Chicago). She then spent a surprising amount of time asking us which countries we had visited before....in great details. Anyway visa was granted. I was not pregnant then.

I contacted some hospitals in Chicago because I know that people in America do not really understand our need to pay for 'free' services. The best I did was to give them the numbers to make calls for me because who has money for long distance calls.

The cheapest option I have so far is an all inclusive package of 3500. Except epidural of about 650 and pediatrician. I do not have a quote yet for this but it shouldn't be a lot.

Helo sweet mamas and papies, am here to show my appreciation, with my full loads of questions and worries, you answered in love. Now in the US with my mum and baby, no problem at all at the poe in houston, infact the officer didnt know i was pregnant, he asked why we are in houston, i told him vacation and, before i could finish, he just said ohh, dts nice on vacation, i quickly chipped in, "and for childbirth too" he was like, are you pregnant, yes i am, he stood up abit to look at my tummy, he then asked how far gone i am, i told him 34weeks, he said waoo and you dont look it, well, but to me, i feel am.carrying the biggest tummy in the world. He stamped my baby, stamped my mum's and stamped mine too amd welcome us to usa. Proceeded to baggage claim and then to inspectiom, i guess its the monetary inspectiom side, was asked to fill a form, asked why i had so much money, i told her because am coming for delivery and i am paying cash, she asked for the receipt of my last delivery, i gave her everything, she checked and said what kind of work do you do, to have all these cash, before i could reply, she tapped on her system amd said ohh, ok, come along with me to where your foodstuff will go through inspection, she later helped me with the trolley, saying "you look tired and you look like you wanna drop that baby here now, let me help you? She helped me pushed the trolley while my mum back my baby, i just drag along cos am so tired and wornout, it was late. At the food inspection, my knorr chicken was collected, even though it doesnt have wrap, they knew it, they collected my tubers of yam, whole 3, chaii, i kept saying, my yam, my yam, they just bursted into laughter and said its not allowed. Well, i got to the hotel and found out that i still have a small yam left in my bag, it looks like diamond to me. So that was how my poe experience went .

Congratulations!!! That's was God's favour all the way. Wishing you more as you continue this missionary journey.

The flight was looooooooooooooong and I no dey chop them oyinbo food so hunger mama me for the plane. Your best bet if you are like me. Chop well before any flight and buy burger from the airport and take along on the flight.
Got to IAD and was fast tracked to the front to meet CBP.
CBP asked exactly the same questions, we gave the same answers. Asked how much cash, we told him $10170.
CBP: any food with you?
Me: legumes and other processed foods
CBP: any meat or fresh foods and plants?
Me: no. All foods procesed and dried.
He stamps us in till April 2017.
We went for secondary inspection cause we declared over $10000. CBP asks how much we have, told her $6170 cash, #4000 in card. We fill our forms and out we go. At the door another CBP collects our passports and scans our faces before handing it back. The wheelchair guy was amazing, always calming us down and assuring us everything was okay. Even gave us his phone to call my cousin and came to look for us when my cousin arrived to pick us up and couldn't get in touch with me.
All in all, a great journey and the hospital experience will come late.

Congrats on your POE. Wishing you God's Favour as the next part of your journey unfolds.

Hello good people.....so had my precious bundle on the 24th of October in Emory University Midtown Hospital Atlanta. Was initially meant to use Dr Andrews and Northside, but due to my leg cast (it extends from thigh to toes) every single obgyn I talked to in Atlanta recommended a section at 39 weeks. I'm all for taking medical advice but I felt I could do a VD. so my host asked me to contact one Dr Joseph Tate.Apparently he is the VBAC guru of atlanta.Sent him a mail explaining my medical and gynaecological history. He replied immediately- it would be uncomfortable, he would prepare for an emergency CS, but he saw no reason why we shouldn't try.Met him a week later.Hes a nice little man, very full of jokes.not everyone's cup of tea I guess but we hit it off immediately and I felt comfortable in my decision. My family and hosts changed me to constant prayer point o.Fear was catching them. Me I just dey gentle and watched plenty Netflix and ate plenty food, exercised with my walking frame and waited for labor.Labor was......suffice to say I delivered like a Hebrew woman as my mama will say. Started having contractions in the morning, irregular and not painful so thought It was BH. Then around 5pm got more painful, still irregular. My host was in church, called and she rushed home.called Dr tates office.Contractions got very hard and fast in the car.Got to the hospital by 7pm, entered the delivery suite by 7.20- slight drama ensued when the registration desk was dilly dallying and I announced I would have my baby right there. Delivered baby by 7.40.no epidural, no time to worry about my leg.
Cost breakdown so far
Dr fee- 1500 after 35 weeks,2000 before 35 weeks
Tests- 100 accepts naija tests
Hospital- 3900 inclusive of paediatrician in hospital, hearing test, pku
Starting documentation next week.Atl mamas show me the way o
God has been sooooooo faithful to me.

I didnt use epidural. In Northside, epidural does not form part of the hospital bill. It is billed differently

I had my first child at wakemed Raleigh and the bill was on a high side, I didn't use epidural. Your best bet is to use duke regional hosp, the bill is ant half the price of Raleigh. Please avoid other hospitals like a leach.
You don't need a doctor at duke or wakemed, u will use the midwife for ur anc and d available doctor for ur delivery. Baby passport takes any 6weeks and the process is very slow, otherwise it's a really nice and quiet place.
I hope this helps

Pls what's the estimated delivery cost at Duke regional hospital?

Thanks I want to know how good they because they seems to be the cheapest I've gotten so far. I arrived Orlando Florida on Saturday with ease of entry the CBP didn't even notice I'm pregnant. I've been searching for Doctor and hospital since them but the price is very high, though already have appointment with doctoresparati, but the fear of staying alone without any relative for CS is my problem. So if I couldn't get any cheap hospital here I will quickly port back to my elpaso with reasonable price ooo.

Congrats on your POE. Have u checked all the hospitals in Florida. Pls reply my PM so we can chat . And pls what's the total cost estimate you got for Sierra hospital/ doctoresparati

Returned to naija yesterday with Air France. D costs expended In d waka include

Doc-$2200.my main ob/gyn didn't take delivery, Doc on-call did. Loved her. Collected zero bal.

Scan-$132

Lab-$164 after discount. (upon say na only two tests dem do! GroupB strep and HIV. Did a lot in naija and it was used. Dey insisted on repeating d HIV own sha)
