Jobs/Vacancies / Re: I Have Never Been Invited For An Interview Since Graduation. by Gaiusc: 7:58am On Mar 22, 2021

The problem is that the economy doesn't produce enough entry-level graduate jobs every year. This simply boils down to having very few industries especially in energy, manufacturing, IT, and financial services. Here in the U.S., most students secure graduate level jobs in their final semesters before graduating. Even with COVID, many young graduates here are getting well paid jobs with very little experience and skills. This is the major issue in Naija, and not the graduates we have. Many of us doing well here in the U.S. graduated from Nigerian Universities before coming to study and work here.

Many companies in Europe, Asia and North America have well paid graduate trainee or development programs that usually last 2 to 3 years, specifically designed for fresh graduates each year. In Nigeria, these types of jobs are less than 1000 annually. That is the major problem and not the quality of graduates.

You're right but comparing these developed nations to Nigeria is kind of unfair. These other nations have institutions in place to make all these happen, Nigeria has zero to non. The best way out for Ngerian Youths is to start looking out for other areas to venture into and make something out for themselves, without depending on the government. If they have this mentality and start working on it right from school, i think they'll be better off by the time they graduate.

You just want to keep marketing your so-called expert CV services. Baba, how many of these your thousand new job openings in Lagos pay at least 100k monthly to new graduates? Even 100k monthly isn't a decent salary for someone that lives in Lagos. Na your clients I dey pity sha, please keep convincing them that CV is the problem.
What are you talking about, i never advertised any cv service, you're leaving the issue at hand to attack my person. Most university graduates don't have the necessary skills or experience that'll require them to be paid such amount, unless it's a high income job.

Every year at least 100k graduates complete NYSC. What percentage of this number manage to get jobs that even pay up to 50k monthly? Please reply with your own source too.

The picture you posted still doesn't back your claim. In Lagos alone, there are over a thousand new job openings in the public and private sector combined yearly. According To You,there are over 100k graduates yearly, if 2% only gain employment, that's 2000 persons already and we both know that the percentage of graduates that gain employment after NYSC yearly is well above that.

Lol...at least for una country. But to be frank, there are less than 1000 new well paying jobs every year in Naija.

You getting a job doesnt have much to do with ur cv. Most employers know that u didnt write or develope the cv urself. Most of what is on the cv are not true except experience. Some pple even lie abt their work experience and u think employers dont know?

I Do not agree with you. Getting a job has much to do with your cv, it's your ticket to getting an interview, don't generalize that everyone lies on their Cv. I have written Winning Cvs For several persons and they were called for interview and got the job, without lying.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: I Have Never Been Invited For An Interview Since Graduation. by Gaiusc: 8:43pm On Mar 19, 2021
This Might be due to the fact that your cv is not well optimized, you're applying for all kinds of jobs not minding if your experience or qualificaion meets the job requirements

You're right bruv, most students miss out on the important life lessons they're supposed to learn while in school. Your schooling year is the best time to try out new things(businesses, ideas etc)if you fail, you stil have the financial support of your guardians to fall back on but if you suceed......

Not everyone would suceed the career way, there are several emerging skills that you can learn and live a comfortable life on like UI/UX Design, Copywriting, Graphic Designing, Selling & Digital Marketing, Programming etc. The goodnews is some of these skills takes less than 3 months to learn, chose 1 and dedicate your time to it, within a shortwhile, you'll start reaping the rewards

Romance / Re: Advice On What To Do With This Money by Gaiusc: 10:26am On Feb 14, 2021
Heres What I Think You Should Do

Get a pen and paper and write down the details of the persons you've defrauded and the amount you took from each. If You still have their email address, send them a message of apology for what you did and promise to refund back the money.

Create a plan through which you'll return back the money you took from each starting from the lowest amount.

Find a good and secured investment platform to invest your cash. use part of the returns of your investment to invest in other businesses, take care of ur needs and payback the money you took.

P.S...Send the money back through Btc to avoid them tracing you. Most Importantly, speak to your FATHER IN HEAVEN and beg for forgiveness.

I Pray You Find Peace.

Include the job experience, if asked your reason for leaving the job, tell them the truth. It's better for them to know through you than to find out lateron after you've been offered the job.

Jobs/Vacancies / 4 REASONS FOR WHY DECEMBER IS ACTUALLY A GOOD TIME FOR JOB HUNTING by Gaiusc: 3:37pm On Dec 10, 2020
Have you been led to believe that the festive period around Christmas and New Year is not the right time for job hunting?

There are boundless articles online that suggest you avoid the end of the year period for applying for jobs, with most reasons attributing to company personnel on-leave over the popular holiday period, or general activity in most workplaces declining. These opinions often overlook the fact that now can be an excellent time to update your CV and start your job hunt. This article will help to shed some light on the myths around end of year recruitment and explain why you should begin job hunting right now, rather than waiting until January.

1. Businesses still have hiring budget to spend
Many articles suggest that hiring budgets will be drained by the end of the year and you should wait for the new
year to begin job hunting. The truth is, heads of department within any company will project what their hiring plans will be for Q1 - Q4 well in advance so that the yearly budget for hires can be approved by the Finance Director. Any hard-won hiring budget will need to be utilised at year-end to ensure a similar hiring budget can be secured for the following year.

However, recruitment doesn’t always manage to follow the carefully outlined plans. Some hires may take longer to recruit than others, whilst some candidates hired may end up not being the right fit for the business. This will mean that by the time the end of the year comes around, there can still be plenty of budget left for new hires, and hiring managers on the lookout for fresh talent.

2. You can be ready to start work in January
If you’re planning on leaving your job hunting until January, you may want to reevaluate that decision. January is often a very busy time of year for many companies and so managers may struggle to fit in interviews and training of new staff members.

The end of the year, especially just before the holiday period, can often be calmer in terms of workload, making it easier for teams to consider their recruitment for the year ahead. This makes it an ideal time for you to get in touch with companies and to start applying for jobs.

Many employers would like to hire new starters using a carefully planned hiring process that would ensure the right candidate is sourced the first time. Training can be conducted following a well-structured induction plan that will allow for new starters to be brought up to speed quickly and effectively.
If recruitment takes place at the end of the year, you can then be fully trained and inducted, so you’re ready to hit the ground running in January, just like the rest of the workforce.

The benefit to you of applying now, rather than waiting until the new year, is that the hiring process can be much speedier. You can expect a lower applicant rate and clearer calendars make it easier for interviews to be scheduled with the hiring manager.

3. You can beat the competition
If you wait till January to start job hunting, along with everyone else, your CV will be joining the hoard of other job hunter’s CVs on a hiring manager’s desk. Use the myth that job hiring stops during the festive holiday period to your favour. While everyone else waits to start their job search in January, start your job hunt in earnest now. Fewer applicants mean more chance of your CV being noticed and a quicker hiring process. So, make sure you craft the perfect CV, cover letter and get job hunting now.

4. Businesses don’t stop just because it’s Christmas
Christmas is a huge national holiday and it is easy to believe that most employers will be winding down and not interested in conducting interviews during the festive season.
While this may have been the case in the past, in the digital 21st Century, businesses don’t come to an abrupt stop just because it’s Christmas. Resist your own temptation to stop completely over Christmas and New Year and start job hunting now.

Get job hunting now
Ignore the myth that hiring managers are not looking for candidates at the end of the year.
Businesses are still recruiting and are looking to get talent in place now for 2021. Put yourself ahead of everyone by updating your CV, attending networking events, scouring potential employer’s social media accounts, searching for jobs with Robert Half or conducting job searches on LinkedIn now. You may even be able to secure a new job before the end of the year and start your new role in January – a new job for a new year.

Education / What Day Of The Week Is Best To Apply For A Job? by Gaiusc: 10:28am On Dec 07, 2020
In a study conducted by Bright.com(a job search site) they found out that applicants were most likely to be called up for an interview if they sent in their Cv/Resume on a Monday, as opposed to any other day day of the week.

While there's no obvious reason as to why this is so, some researchers think that Recruiters are more likely to take their time to go through the CVs on Monday as the week is still fresh then, compared to other days of the week when other job applicants might have sent in theirs.

Do note that sending in your CV on the first day of the week isn't a 100% guarantee that you'll move to the next stage of the recruitment exercise.

While sending in your CVs today, here are 4 things you should keep in Mind.....

1. Use a professional email to Send your CV/Resume to the recruiter: Avoid using emails such as sexybaby@gmail.com or Youngmarlian123@yahoo.com. A professional email should contain the name stated on your CV(first and surname) e.g. JohnOdia@gmail.com or JohnOdia56@yahoo.com

2. The subject section of your email shouldn't be left blank when sending in your CV for a Job opening, it should at least include the role you're applying for e.g
David's CV: Social media marketer or
George's CV for Project management Role
Do not leave the subject title blank.

3. Do not ever send your CV in a picture(.jpeg or. img) format. Some companies do state their preferable format in the job ad, but if not stated, submit them in document format(.docx or .pdf)

And lastly.....

4. Avoid the use of abbreviations and slangs on the body of your email. Proofread and double check for errors before clicking the send button.

Thank you for reading.

Do have a super productive week ahead.

Well detailed information.
Thank you very much @OP.

Buh I have a question about point 2..
does that mean information such as Date Of Birth, Marital Status, state and local government of origin should be omitted except made on request?

As per date of birth, I learnt just the day and month would do. What do you think?
Great question. Job requirements for some particular positions differ from one organization to the other. There are some job requirements that the age limit is stated,if you fall within the age limit, feel free to include your DOB on your Cv when applying for such job, but if no age limit is stated, don't include it. The Other items like marital status, Lga of origin should only be included on request.

and last but not the least...

5. Crosscheck For Mispellings and Grammatical Errors Before Submitting: Double check for grammatical errors and wrong spellings before submitting it. If possible, send it to a friend to help you review it before you submit it.

Thank You for reading, feel free to drop your questions.

4. Avoid the use of colours, tables, charts, graphs and designs on your CV: you might be surprised that some persons include such things on their CV. Except you're applying for the role of a graphic designer, you shouldn't include such things in your CV. C'mon, it's a CV not a power point presentation
Education / Re: 5 Mistakes To Avoid When Crafting Your Cv To A Particular Job/position by Gaiusc: 2:56pm On Dec 03, 2020
3. Avoid the use of stylish fonts and special characters on your CV: when you use stylish fonts on your CV, you might come off as an unserious fellow to the recruitment officer. In recent times, most companies use the Applicant Tracking System (i'll discuss this in another topic later) in reviewing CVs of job applicants and it ranks them according to how qualified they are. The ATS software can't process such stylish fonts and it would automatically rank your CV lower. The Recommended fonts are; Times New Roman, Moteserat, Aerial, Calibre etc
