are Audio books that good? the idea of having some stranger read stuff out to me just doesn't cut it, plus i read fast so i'll prolly get impatient. Although i'd be willing to try mere christianity if it was CS himself reading it. . .anyone else is fa fa fowl.
but for real, is there anything gen-gen about audiobooks?

It is 'gen-gen' because it is C.S Himself reading the books with all the passion he wrote the books with.
Normally, I wouldn't do audio books.

Now you know! cheesy
Mere Christianity is considered to be a 'stand-out' (polls)
but I'm sure Screwtape letters would be equally good.
Get the Audio books if you can.

Religion / Re: Im Tired Of Clapping My Hands In Church. by Gamine(f): 1:28pm On Sep 27, 2010
So . . .(yeah i know)

I went to a church yesterday, where they DO NOT clap.
But I realised that I had been so conditioned, I wanted to clap
at every interval.
My friend said she would just tie my hands to the chair.

Funny enough, after the service I met a friend of mine,
who used to attend my ex-church. He said the same thing.

Now, I'm not saying clapping is bad. But if a simple thing like clapping
can become so ingrained in someone's mental process where you don't even think,
you just begin to do. I can't imagine how much more people have been subjected to do, in these so-called churches.
The thought of the extent of conditioning and poisoning is staggering.

May God save us.

@ all
pls does anyone on this thread have natural/nappy hair?
I need your help pls
I just cut my hair and want to keep it natural and need product reviews for manageable hair prefarrably natural products
thanks in advance ladies!

Well I do and there's nothing like Shea butter and Olive oil for starters, then you can delve into other products.
You also need to change your mindset about 'manageable' and what not.

browncocos:

what does this do?

Bentonite Clay,

Bentonite clay has been scientifically proven to draw toxic material out of the body if taken internally.

When mixed with water, bentonite swells up (this is imperceptible to the naked eye) and becomes very porous. The electrical and molecular components change and produce an electrical charge. It's highest power lies in the ability to absorb toxins, impurities, heavy metals and other internal contaminants.

Bentonite is a sedimentary clay from volcanic ash. It is an effective and cleansing clay if used externally as a face mask and can be found in many hight street beauty products, in the bath or externally as a clay poultice. Internally it is added to water or glazed upon food to help those with sensitive palates.

Bentonite draws toxins from the digestive system and intestinal tract and is used in many high street over the counter medicines. Such applications include industrial protective creams, calamine lotion, wet compresses, and antiirritants for eczema. In medicine, bentonite is used as an antidote in heavy metal poisoning due to its ability to absorb heavy metals and toxins.

For me, so far it has helped with the pores on my face, I only started using it this month.

I honestly have never really given this much thought,
but, added to Meladerm, I'm thinking Exfoilation, Black Soap and Sunscreens.

I would go and check, but Mad_Max and co would probably
give the best answers.

netotse:

chimamanda has interesting/odd/unstable characters. . .your mind must be a veritable maze

i think Birdsong was a contribution to a collection of short stories called 20 under 40 for the newyorker

hopefully, her next offering'll be a proper book, 'the thing around our neck' was cool but still i prefer her books.

Yes, I know it was, that's where i read it. But some people had hinted it could be part of her new book.
She has definitely grown so far in writing, can't wait to read whatever she is working on now.

About the characters, well I don't read books just for fun or out of boredom. If i don't 'like' the characters, I usually
drop them. I have to 'connect' somehow. I think it's the blatant humanity of the characters (being odd/unstable)
that have endeared me to her books now.
And yeah, My mind is such a maze, it's only human.

@Mobinga Okay dawg 4 real, there's no need for all that jazz talk. I just visited the thread to share my latest gaming addiction, and have a quick conversation with someone whom I thought was cool and socially open b4 I headed out. Turns out I was wrong.  Both of you might be too nerdy to understand what to be socially open even means.

@gamine . . . It especially means NOT having an unfounded needed to give attitude to someone you just met simply because they decided to cut out time to converse with you. It's very unnecessary. Do try to get over yourself.

With that said, I'm out.

'Why so serious'
Thanks for cutting out the time, I genuinely thought we were all just having a laugh.

Besides, there are no faults or inconsistency in the Love of God.

There is everything wrong with this, pidgin language corrupts the proper English, I will rather will pick Hausa, Igbo or Benin or a totally different language to pidgin, imagine giving a presentation and delving into pidgin in the middle of the presentation

Very very funny.
