And moreover, their tenure has ended, so the BOT should take over and appoint a caretaker committee, don't know what Wike is celebrating here, even Wike caretaker committee is not recognized so, but factions lost, only difference is that Turaki faction would be paying 18M

Why is Fubara not the one receiving the body

E be like say we get two governors for rivers state.

One na paper governor and the other one na Abuja governor

Fubara may do so or appoint someone to recieve it when it gets to Port Harcourt, he cannot leave River's state or send someone to do that in another state, administratively its wrong, Wike is in other to do so in Abuja.

Earlier, there was a rowdy session in the House of Representatives as Hon. Francis Ejiroghene Waive (APC - Ughelli North/Ughelli South/Udu Federal Constituency) had moved a motion for the rescission of the earlier passed Electoral Amendment Bill 2026.

Recall that the House of Representatives earlier passed the Bill on 23rd December 2025, backing Article 60(3): mandatory real-time transmission of results through the IReV portal, a move the Senate passed with a proviso (manual voting when network fails).

Calls by Hon. Waive to recall the Bill caused an uproar in the green chamber prompting an Executive session (behind closed doors).

Returning to resume plenary, the House dissolved into a Committee of the whole chaired by the Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Okezie Kalu. The Bende-born lawmaker however chose to carry the clauses in 10s (Clause 40-50, Clause 50-60), and hitting the gavel continuously with lawmakers in complete disarray.

Majority lawmakers called for a clause-by-clause review which the Deputy Speaker acceded to. Nonetheless, he however hit the gavel on Clause 60 with a proviso as passed by the Senate (manual transmission where network fails), causing chaos and protest from lawmakers who are demanding he turns down amendments to Clause 60.

Opposition lawmakers are standing and protesting. An unidentified Reps member shouting 'Ole' into the microphone....there is chaos in the green chamber.

Bamidele Salam (PDP- Ede North/Ede South/Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency) moves a motion to remove the proviso, seconded by Kingsley Chinda (PDP - Obi-Akpor), it fails with majority 'nays'.

Ugochinyere Ikenga (Imo) moves a motion for an amendment that results transmitted to IReV if successful must tally with Form EC8A, seconded by Ginger Onwusibe (Abia), amendment fails with majority 'nays'.

An unidentified member shouts into the microphone "they have collected money", and members stage walkout.

Minority caucus of the House of Representatives have stage a walkout chanting "APC OLE"

The House subsequently pass the Senate-type manual and electronic transmission of results via voice votes.

Shameless people, will walking out change the situation? Instead of trying to convince their colleagues they're walking out

But has anyone noticed that Wike has been so quiet after the meeting with Tinubu? Even his supporters are not so happy, it clearly shows that Wike never got what he wanted, the shout of renewed hope family in Rivers state is dead after the meeting. I wouldn't prempt anything but to sit and watch.

It is no longer news that the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, went to Minna, Niger State, yesterday to hold a meeting with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Here is what happened behind the curtains.

Venue and personalities involved in the meeting was carefully chosen so as to ensure confidence and acceptability.

Consideration was given to the fact that Peter Obi will not accept to be Atiku's running mate and he won't also be acceptable to the North, as Atiku's successor.

Also, Atiku is 70% certain of getting the ADC ticket, having ensured the non-zoning of the party’s presidential ticket.

Makinde agreed to join ADC on the condition that he will be handed the party’s Vice Presidential ticket, as Atiku's running mate. This is expected to be presented to Atiku’s inner caucus for further discussions and ratification.

Makinde offered to make available a sum of N10bn (to be released in two tranches), as his initial contribution towards what he called "proper take-off of the ADC," and make additional funds available when campaign begins.

The Governor also assured that for the ADC primary, he will deliver the Southwest delegates and use the influence of wife, who is from Rivers State to secure delegate votes in the South-South.

He posited that for the general election, using him to divide the Southwest votes will give the ADC the needed advantage.

Follow up meeting has been fixed for Dubai, UAE within the next two weeks.
