uzobaby:I've been following your comments on this thread and I can say that you've been balanced in your opinions. As a male, I'm all for respecting your wife and valuing your girl child with the same intensity you would a male child. However, its a fact that women ought to be submissive. Even if my wife gives birth to 2 girls tomorrow, I'll still be happy. At least more bride price for me... . But, on a more serious note, it's clear that there's an info gap on what feminism truly is both among the feminist supporters and the opponents. |
uzobaby:You just made a very valid point |

Good day everyone This is just my personal observation concerning youthful Nigerian ladies of this generation. Chimamanda just shared her own opinion on a matter and most of them are crying foul. If it was an educational cum sociopolitical opinion by the said writer, most of our Nigerian ladies would not have gravitated towards it because they are grossly unintelligent and concerned with only vain things that don't build up a society in any way. And they are clamoring for a female president. Going by comments I've observed on this post, I fear for the day that time comes. That isn't to say that there aren't some intelligent female Nigerian youths. I am yet to see a critical analysis of her opinion on going public with baby bumps. All I've been seeing are "its her opinion, bla bla bla..." Look at female youths in other climes excelling in sports, science, medicine, business, society and governance etc. Yet, the only thing these lot here in Nigeria know is to seek attention on social media with unbecoming displays. I know I may be attacked but the truth must be written Good day folks. |
Good day all, In the wake of recent comments about the Nigerian military on this and all other threads, I have been forced to open up. The new government is facing an uphill task in trying to re-brand the Nigerian Security Services. Mind you, I am no ardent political supporter and I have never cast my votes for any politician. But truth be told, there has been an enhanced vigor in the war against terrorism by the Nigerian Security forces. What they actually need are our support and prayers (not just repudiations for their failings). Some of you have been so negative that I sincerely doubt you really mean well for this country. The truth still remains; you might not even perform as well as the average Nigerian Soldier fighting for us in the war-torn North-east. Instead let us come together to proffer solutions to our country's security problems. The failures of the past democratic administrations is what has led to the mess (security-wise) we have found ourselves. Let each and everyone of us remain security conscious, even if you live in the south-west. The world is evolving really fast and security has become a collective community responsibility. I would also advise the Nigerian Security Forces to open a website where useful info may be lodged that could lead to the arrest of errant vandals, terrorists (those liars masquerading as herdsmen are terrorists in the real sense; I am too smart to fall for those "herdsmen" talk). Also, I would suggest constant training be provided for all members of the Nigerian Security Services. They should be constantly reminded that the average citizen ought to be protected and not battered. Those involved in mauling helpless citizens should be tried/court-martialed and summarily dismissed/dishonorably discharged. Once again, quit your childish ramblings about APC and PDP. These threats know no party affiliations. They have been present since the PDP got into power and they still persist till today. Thank you all |
GenAnsahCinC:My good man. please forward the past question to me at this mail; Oyindamola.tomoye27@gmail.com. Thanks for your patience and willingness to help thus far. |
Nice invention. I am not surprised though since biomedical research seems to advance at a rapid pace. My questions however include: 1. Has its efficacy and safety been tested on animal models? 2. Would it increase the risk of developing urological diseases like B.P.H? 3. Is the polymer bio-compatible? |
Nice writeup. Although, it posits some unanswered questions. 1. What vitamins are responsible for its health benefits? 2. Have there been scientiic studies carried out to evaluate the aforementioned benefits? 3. What are its constituents antioxidants? 4. What is its recommended daily intake? 5. What are its possible deleterious effects when applied to the skin? Thanks. We need more scientific stimulating articles like this for intellectuals to discuss and get further enriched. |

HENROSHUN:Very beautiful writeup. But just to correct certain misconceptions about cancer and cancer biology in general: 1. Cancer is purely a genetic disease. All the factors listed in No 4 above will ultimately destroy the DNA of healthy cells thus encouraging unregulated cell growth and proliferation. 2. Antioxidants are equally excellent cancer fighters. But recent research show that they can build up in the cells and lead to increased resistance to conventional treatments. This has been demonstrated in colorectal cancer. 3. Some microbes could actually help fight cancer. Research has shown that they destroy the stroma (the tough barrier around cancer cells that keep immune cells out). Thus they are been developed as possible anti-cancer drugs. 4. For every cancer patient, the immune system is or suppressed because cancer cells release certain molecules that "place a brake" on the immune cells ( the T cells especially). So, the immune cells though present are suppressed. This has lead to the development of certain anticancer agents collectively known as Cancer immunotherapies to stimulate the immune system's fighting ability. 5. Merely starving cancer cells doesn't work in almost all cases. Cancer cells display the warburg effect in which they shift the source of their nutrient to anaerobic metabolism. This is why they survive in harsh conditions. 6. Meat grilled over high temperatures (or fried as in most Nigerian homes) release certain cancer causing, DNA damaging chemicals such as Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons as well as Heterocyclic Amines. This are class I carcinogens according to the international agency for research on cancer. Finally, eat healthy (whole grains, fruits and Vegetables), Drink enough water and stay off binge drinking, smoking and contaminated food and water. Exercise regularly (trust me, your body cells will thank you for this). Hope this helps. |
ajk42:Sorry, I can't find the "attachments" (you wrote) on my page. How do I attach my other necessary certificates. |
I am not an avid supporter of any political party or person. What concerns me most is Justice. Justice must be done to all Nigerians rendered poor and helpless by corrupt and greedy Politicians who see political offices as affront to massive looting. However, going by some of the comments here, its obvious that certain Nigerians, out of their hatred for PMB are sentimental about who deserves to be probed. This is very wrong and should be discouraged. A wise Nigerian (youths especially) should be ready to pray for and support this present administration in the fight against corruption. Please my fellow youths, don't become stupid and senseless e-warriors on behalf of any politician or party. They are all the same and seem not to care about the welfare of you and I. That being said, I believe that anybody soliciting for the cancellation of all ongoing corruption probes is either sick in the head, a chronic thief or is under a supernatural curse. They are the real enemies of the Nigerian state. |

Jarus:Good day sir, I must say that i am impressed by the way you have inspired students/graduates to strive for excellence in their education/career respectively. Only God can and will truly reward you accordingly. But it seems that you only focus on finance and engineering careers. There are graduates of basic medical sciences like biology, chemistry, biochemistry, cell biology, physiology, microbiology etc with no intentions of becoming finance professionals but are also in need of career advice on how to progress and achieve success in the biomedical field. They have been neglected in this country and being one of them, it trully can be traumatising. I would sincerely appreciate if you can look into this sir. Thank you |
The Nigerian Youth sha I have read a lot of posts on this and other career threads on Nairaland and certain career blogs and i must say that i am a bit disappointed by what I've noticed to be a bad trend so far. The majority of the Nigerian job seekers are too focused on gaining employments in multinational oil companies irrespective of their courses of study. I don't think i am wrong to point out that many of them do this solely for the financial rewards. They have not taken time out to reflect deeply on their passions, dreams, goals and aspirations, talents and most importantly how they can use these talents to serve mankind. I understand that the harsh economic situations are partly to blame for this backward mentality but this shouldn't stop us from doing what is right. I am not trying to force any ideology on anyone but just stating facts. If Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates et al thought like most of us are doing now, they wouldn't have achieved fame and fortune. Let us focus on our passions and our talents. It always pays in the end. History is replete with great men who made their passions their professions and achieved unprecedented success. Thank you all. |
I firmly believe that true change starts with the average Nigerian. We complain of the apathy displayed by our leaders to the decadent socioeconomic status of Nigeria but we fail to realize that as citizens, we all have a part to play. The civil servants amongst us that display the highest level of laziness in the discharge of their duties have cases to answer. They resume by 12pm and close by 2pm yet, they have the right to clamor for change. Have you changed your attitude to work? The parents encourage their children to engage in brazen exam malpractices yet they cry foul when they have been shortchanged by greedy politicians. What right have they? That young man that jumps the queue in the bank or in the BRT bus-stop while others have been patient enough to stand for hours forgets that our greedy politicians do the same when they appoint the incompetent cronies in sensitive offices. My people, please tell me if there is a difference betwixt the two? Its often said that a people get the kind of leaders they deserve, a saying that's playing out in Nigeria today. Corrupt followers vote in corrupt leaders. In essence, let the change start from us. |
Good day all: I have always preferred to read comments on nairaland but I also observe certain trends i believe are wrong. Before one dabbles into business, i think its better that individual acquires the necessary business skills and expertise, understand how a business is run and how to best serve customers by working under someone for a few years at least. Some people are proponents of just diving absentmindedly into one without having at least a tangible business plan. This could be one of the reasons why few start-ups flourish and the majority perish. |
Just finished mine now. Scored 65%. Thank God. |
