PDP accuses ACN of destroying South-West public service

IBADAN — THE Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the South-West, has accused the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, of destroying the public service in the region by allegedly using political bitterness to sack workers employed by PDP government.

The party, through its spokesperson, Mr. Kayode Babade said, “they are sacking public servants because they were appointed or promoted by past governments, pretending not to know that government is a continuum.”

But responding, the ACN through its Zonal Director of Publicity, Mr. Ayo Afolabi, said the PDP was only crying wolves where none existed.

Contrary to the claims of the PDP, ACN said, it was the party that actually destroyed the legacy left by Simeon Adebo and the rest.

”The ACN is trying to clear the rot left by the PDP. Before we came on board, civil service had become a rubber stamp of their bosses, not being able to give professional advice as required of them.

You can see the morale brought in by the ACN. Eight years of PDP in the South West was a waste. We have been training and retraining the civil service with a view to returning it to the era of sanity that the likes of Simeon Adebo introduced into the civil service”.

However, PDP argued that the way and manner appointments were allegedly being made into the service, “is dangerous for the maintenance of the culture of seniority and professionalism in the service.”

PDP claimed laid down public service rules were being jettisoned with junior officers being promoted above their seniors, non-career civil servants being appointed Permanent Secretaries and Directors General and attempts being made to appoint a serving judge in Lagos State as Chief Judge of another state.

According to a statement by party, it faulted Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State for appointing a civil servant who has 38 doctors as seniors and had only spent 16 years as Permanent Secretary, saying; “If these governors are not cautioned, we will soon get to a level where a clerical officer will be appointed Permanent Secretary and someone just appointed as  judge appointed as Chief Judge.”

The Statement by Pastor Oladele Bank-Olemoh:
The attention of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries has  been drawn to a story on SaharaReporters, alleging how Mr. Omowole Sowore and his crew were mishandled at the cross over night at prayer city on January 1st 2o13.
In as much as we don’t want to join issues with the media organization, we hereby state our position as regards the issue for the benefit of the public.
MFM has an open door policy as regards the media, as many journalists were accredited to cover the cross over night.
Besides, the event was live on social media. Sahara crew never applied and was never accredited as one of the media organizations to cover the event, nevertheless, they were allowed inside the prayer city to film the event, and the crew was only stopped when they went beyond the parameters allowed for media men.
In view of the security challenges facing the nation and the body of Christ in particular, MFM has the right to monitor the movement of people in and around our church premises.

Can Sahara barge into a Mosque to cover an event without permission?
Is Sahara which is based in The United State of America saying it does not know the normal procedure for covering an event?
Can Sahara barge into an event in USA to cover without an accreditation? Therefore, we appeal to the media to respect  the authority of the church just as our doors are open to media organizations in the discharge of duties.
