Nice and lucid response from Mr. Governor..

If it was GEJ, Abati would have rained abuses on Nigerian, the opposition parties etc without explaining what the transaction is all about.

Lagosians have a rare gem, one they'll only appreciate if they've had to cope with the likes of Thief Ibori and The imbecilic Uduaghan..

Gbawe: Now you get it. Why does he and his co-travellers do it? Because they are all insecure, feudal and clannish individuals threatened by how everyone rates Fashola a far better candidate to be President than the empty barrel they support who currently occupies the position. It is report such as that below, from El Rufai, that ruins their day and makes them rush here to start ridiculous topics like this one. Don't forget that this same worthless OP started a topic about "searching for the achievements of Fashola". He ran away from the thread when I supplied pictorial proof of extensive drainage work being done in my Surulere area.

Lagos, contrary to what the usual suspects insinuate, runs a highly efficient and exemplarily transparent budget. The Lagos state model of budgeting is millions of miles ahead of that delevered by the higly profligate and clueless FG in terms of prudence, innovation, frugality and efficacy. It goes without saying that it is only those with time to waste who will engage OP and his ilk in a back-and-forth when it is clear their clannish mission here is to hold brief daily for an opportunistic glutton and mediocrity eating garishly, buying planes and leading cluelessly while they mischievously round against a Governors whose skills and talent is reflected in every aspect of governance.

Sincere 9gerian: Even the link you posted shows conclusively that the Lagos state govt budgets for feeding and refreshment:

"To this end, Governor Babatunde Fashola has declared that, henceforth, provision of TV sets, Cable TV decoders, overseas trips and training by government officials, as well as money spent on frills and jamborees, T-shirts, caps, foods and others, may be compromised"

Even the governor did not stop or reduce this budget because he only said "may be compromised"
Quit being a mischief maker. There are two quoted articles, one of the used the word "BAN", the other said, "MAY BE COMPROMISED", and that it will be a 1st in the series of austerity measures..

Your motive once again has been exposed for discerning minds to see....

Why not quietly leave this thread since you've been exposed as a Bare-faced shameless lying hypocrite....

thelastPope: Why did this not affect the monies spent on the blue rail launch which was unnecessary and the food and drinks that the people were scrambling over? Do you know how much was paid to music artists in the last Lagos state event i attended? Some artists were paid in millions! You can defend the amount spent but to suggest no monies are spent on these things is ridiculous!
.... Can you prove that the money paid to the Artistes came from the purse of Lagos State??

.... Didn't it occur to you that the event might have been sponsored??

.... Do you know that some events organised by Govt. Agencies are sponsored by private organizations??
PoliticsRe: What Was Budgeted By Lagos For Feeding In 2013? by GARRIx7(m): 11:56pm On Jan 15, 2013
@OP: Since we can't find food in the budget, see the link below. Maybe that explains why..

www.odili.net/news/source/2011/jul/28/501.html

Daily Sun learnt in an executive order circulated by the state government that the new austerity measures, such as discontinuation of oversea trips for government officials, television set/decoders, subsidy on petroleum products, money spent on frills and jamborees T-shirts/caps, food, car maintenance, among others have been banned.
Another source:

www.ngrguardiannews.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=56234:minimum-wage-fashola-introduces-austerity-measures-&catid=1:national&Itemid=559

FACED with the challenge of rising up to the statutory obligation of paying the recently-introduced N18,000 minimum wage, the Lagos State Government has drastically cut down on other expenditures.

To this end, Governor Babatunde Fashola has declared that, henceforth, provision of TV sets, Cable TV decoders, overseas trips and training by government officials, as well as money spent on frills and jamborees, T-shirts, caps, foods and others, may be compromised.

These measures, contained in an Executive Order, which is believed to have been signed into effect by the Governor on July 12, indicated that the austerity measures are the first in the series.
So can we have some peace??

the level of poverty in Nigeria had actually declined from 48 per cent to 46 per cent under the present administration.

He however noted that Nigeria’s GDP growth rate of eight per cent is not sufficient to reduce poverty in the country.

PoliticsRe: What Was Budgeted By Lagos For Feeding In 2013? by GARRIx7(m): 4:14pm On Jan 15, 2013
Sincere 9gerian: The federal govt was criticised last year for budgeting N1billion for feeding at the Villa. In response to criticisms, the federal govt later reduced the budget marginally to a little over N800million, but that was still too little in the eyes of many.

For the year 2013, the federal govt had proposed a budget of about N1.3billion for feeding and miscellaneous expenses in the State House. This provision was widely reported and one of such reports is reproduced below:

...The Senate Committee on Federal Character and Inter-Governmental Affairs were told yesterday that a whopping N1, 305, 292, 050 billion had been set aside in the 2013 budget for refreshment, meals and other miscellaneous expenses in the State House.....A breakdown of the miscellaneous expenses in the budget proposal showed that the sum of N203, 753m was allocated for refreshment and meals, N107,413m for honorarium and sitting allowances while N37,277,825 was budgeted for publicity and advertisement.

Others include medical expenses of N50.308m; postage and courier services would gulp N10, 035,583m, welfare packages were allotted N195.066m; subscription to professional bodies got N4,589,793m and sporting activities, which was given N32,910,730.

Overtime was also allocation the sum of N250,455,589 while feeding of animals including animal supplements for the veterinary clinic got N30,584m s, Summit/ Extra ordinary sessions, including the UN, African Union, ECOWAS, etc, has N228,112,862 while NYSC, IT, LOCUM, housemanship and contract staff allowance has N144,788,555......

The State House Permanent Secretary, Emmanuel Ogbile, who defended the budget told the lawmakers that the amount was inadequate......saying: "I have taken pains to explain that this money is not just to fund the residence of the President and that of the Vice President. The experience I have had is that this fund is grossly insufficient. It's not even enough."

He further explained that out of the N1.305 billion, "The Federal Executive Council (FEC) holds every Wednesday and we take care of them through this budget", he said.

Nonetheless, he listed other expenses that fall within the refreshment and meals vote to include National Economic Council(NEC), Council of States, conferences in the Banquet Hall, presidential retreats, National Merit Award, Children's Day, hosting of dignitaries, and so on....

http://allafrica.com/stories/201211210241.html

It is very proper for every Nigerian to demand TRANSPARENCY and ACCOUNTABILITY at the federal level but this demand should not be limited to the federal govt.

The state govts collects and disburses about 50% (for the state and local govts, thru state-local govt joint accounts) of the national purse.

Therefore any demand for TRANSPARENCY and ACCOUNTABILITY that exempts the state governors will not yield desired results.

Consequently, we also want to KNOW what the Lagos state govt and by extension other state governors, budgeted for feeding (or FOOD) in 2013.
Ok...

...and like I said he knows what he is talking about- 2 SSS officials (1 of them since Yar'adua's) time and more recently an Immigration guy (all of them northern muslims in Govt agencies) have been arrested and held for leaking classified info to BH; they are certainly many more of them. GEJ knew what he was talking about..
This is not the 1st time EBELE is saying this...

See what he said about BH infiltrating HIS Govt.
www.punchng.com/news/boko-haram-has-infiltrated-my-govt-jonathan/
President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday alleged the dreaded Islamic sect, Boko Haram, had infiltrated his government.

He claimed some of members of the group, which had claimed responsibility for the killings in parts of the North, were in the executive, legislative and judiciary arms of government as well as the police and armed forces.

Jonathan spoke during an inter-denominational service to mark the 2012 Armed Forces Remembrance Day
..Later they said they were going to release the list of sponsors..

Wonder why they've neither released the list nor seriously prosecuted any of the sponsors??

Its because they're all in PDP

While all searchlights are focused on the Federal Govt., most state governors are having a field day engaging in unrestrained looting.

While we won't stop criticising the inept leadership at the Federal level, always remember that the state governors are even worse, they who are supposed to bring the dividend of democracy to the grassroots are the ones consolidating the poverty and wretchedness of the helpless masses..

Our enemies aren't all in Abuja, most of them are in our states, these compete with those at the federal level to impoverish and enslave those they're supposed to lead.
