Barcelona announced on Friday they have signed Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid. The forward joins on a five-year deal with a buyout clause of €800 million. The club have ended a long-running transfer saga by paying the 28-year-old’s €120 million buyout clause, and the forward will now join up with the club for pre- season. Griezmann is expected to be officially unveiled as a Barcelona player on Sunday and join up with his new team-mates on Monday for pre-season training, although the club is yet to confirm the details. The 28-year-old’s arrival will not be universally popular given he snubbed a move to Barcelona last summer, while rumors have claimed the dressing room would not welcome his arrival. Griezmann scored 133 goals in 257 appearances in his five years with Atletico but announced his intention to depart the club back in May.

DerideGull:true, the girl is a great player, myself, I keep wondering why she was dropped. |
Super Falcons’ Courtney Dike says she knows that decision has been taken to drop her from the Falcons squad to France for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup before her invitation, but she has pledged her support to the team at the tournament. The attacker believes she deserves a place in the team due to her scintillating performance in the team’s 6-1 win over Iceland , where she scored on three occasions. “I’ve gotten a ridiculous amount of questions about my absence for the upcoming cup,” Dike stated. “Although I scored a hat trick in the last camp I was unfortunately not selected. While I do not agree with this decision, I will respect it. Dike added that working as an account has not affected her performance on the pitch and the team’s technical crew are aware of her fitness level before inviting her to the team. “Yes, I am actively working as an accountant and I’m usually busy but everyone was aware of that beforehand.” “I always make time for things I love and I am passionate about and was prepared to do what was necessary to make it work. “I continued to train as instructed and I continued to get questions asking what airport I will fly out of, to provide bio information, speak about the camp and tournament, etc. “I’ve reported my physical activity within the last month as instructed as well. I was invited to camp with the assumed opportunity of performing well translating into more opportunity.” The former Falconets star however was grateful for the opportunity given to her and added that she will be rooting for the Falcons at the World Cup . “Looking back, I prefer not having an invitation than a decision already being made about me before my arrival. “That being said I’m extremely grateful for the opportunities I received in the past and my girls will always have a special place in my heart. I’ll be rooting for you all! Forever and always.”

The Federation International Football Association Fifa released its first ranking of the year on Thursday as Nigeria Super Eagles Maintained its fourth position in Africa but slipped two places on the world ranking. Nigeria dropped from her previous 44th position to 46th in the FIFA Coca Cola World Rankings. The Eagles maintained its 1427 points from the previous list in December. The Asian champions, Qatar climb to 55th in the world, gaining 38 places and reaching their best position since 1993. According to FIFA statement, the Asian Cup has been responsible for the notable changes in the rankings, with the scarcity of games in other confederations leaving the top 20 unchanged, and Belgium still in pole position. Further down the table, Qatar is not the only team to have ascended in spectacular style. Fellow finalists, Japan (27th, up 23) have also soared up the order, while Korea Republic (38th, up 15), United Arab Emirates (67th, up 12) and Jordan (97th, up 12) all registered double-digit gains. There were also significant upward moves by the likes of Iraq (80th, up , Iran (22nd, up 7) andUzbekistan (89th, up 6). Another consequence of these changes is that Asia has boosted its numbers in the Ranking’s top 50. The Asian Football Confederation is now represented by four teams up, one on the last edition, and now stands level with Africa, whose numbers have been depleted by Congo DR (51st, down 2) dropping out. Meanwhile, Senegal retains her top spot among CAF teams with 1505 points and 24th in the world with Tunisia following closely with 1493 points on 28th place. Behind is Morrocco who garnered 1440 points after descending three places, from 40th placed in the previous list to 43rd. The next rankings will be published on April 4. 10. Octopuses Octopuses have the largest brains of any invertebrate. The common octopus has about 130 million neurons in its brain. A human has 100 billion. However, three-fifths of an octopus' neurons are not in the brain; they're in its arms. Each arm has a mind of its own, so to speak, and if cut off (which the octopus can regrow), will wander away and even grab at food as it did while still attached
