martclems: I've had two visa rejections in two months(may and june) and school resumes in September, I still have July and August to reapply. Are there still any chances of me getting my visa approved if I reapply the third time and is there a particular way I can go about it?
Pls what should I do... Thanks. You can apply anytime as long as you're ready. No one will stop you from applying 5 times sef. Just work on all your flaws and it'll be fine. The chances of getting yours is still the same with someone going for the first time and you already have lil experience. Because every interview is done independently of the previous one you had. So just know where you messed up the last time. Do mock interviews, have good answers to all the questions that you've seen in people's transcripts. |

segunojo866: I wonder how much walspring, texrem and Lagosismyhome is earning from nairaland. Just calculate all the wes, application fee and visa fee payment. This is good business o. I used to think they are helping people for free but their making good profit here. Congrats. Or are you telling the payment are free? This guy what the hell is your issue? This isn't your class whatsapp group, you don't just come here and start yarning rubbish. No one here cares about your dry and irksome jokes. Keep them to yourself, talk about things the group is about or stfu. You think this is your high school or University whatsapp group that you can say whatever comes to your head? Get a chill pill and rest. You're probably going for an undergrad degree because it can't be MS and you're acting like this. You've not even done your interview and you're fiddle-footed. Behave or stfu dude. |

mamapee2017: house please help me ooo I have been to the embassy thrice 1st was a denial, second a barcode mistake so I was sent to book again third I was denied again.
my transcript
VO: why Dickinson state university
me :MY experience with them have been amazing ,prompt replies to my mail, my course is accredited by ACEN and approved by north Dakota board of nursing and the are involved with volunteer learning experience which I want to be part of a prof head the project for nursing student together with her family
Vo: did you right any standard exam me : yes I took tofel
Vo : how many school did you apply to
me: 1 , because it was recommended Vo cuts in with okay
Vo : have you traveled out of Nigeria before.
me : No
Vo; okay sorry I can't grant this visa I wish you success in the future.
please help I have just paid another fee now now .please I need mock I interview some help me ooo make my money no finish o. visa fee pls Prompt reply of emails? Almost all schools will reply your email promptly. And don't say your course is accredited by ACEN. Is your school the only one that has ACEN accreditation? Tell the VO things that are particular to the school you chose. Not general things, there should be a reason why you chose it afterall it was the only school you applied to. Means there must be something you saw there that made you chose the school and only it. And after that kinda vague answer you still said you applied to just one school. It kinda shows unseriousness and raises a flag. Except the school is a top school and well known then there might not be much of a problem with one school. Nevertheless, some people apply to just one school and still get their visa. Just work on your responses, give solid responses. Read transcripts, a lot of it because I believe if you read enough you won't have answered that question that way. And I hope the school isn't a NO NO because they don't have graduate programs, they only have Master of Arts in teaching. So I'm guessing you're going for Undergrad or is it the masters program you're going for? |

CONGRATS SHA! Believe it or not. I know someone a visa officer told "everything you said is rubbish and doesn't make sense, but I'll be approving your visa". This is someone I know very well. So you can't predict a VO nor his/her mood. But OMG tho |

LagosismyHome: Some times a transcript doesnt tell someone the whole picture....because it does not shows the non verbal . We dont know if he looked very shaky or not confident
Most importantly.... is this a bsc going for another bsc. This transcript doesnt say....also maybe the VO was expecting him to sell himself more om why america and after one sentence he stopped ... My thoughts exactly. The answer he gave to why America could have been the cause. Just restrategize and go again. |

happyday: Your GRE was the deal breaker. How badly do you want this?
With that weak GPA, if you could get at least 168 on your GRE Quant, and at least a 160 on your Verbal, you'll boost your odds of getting in. Again, if you want this badly enough, you'll prep for the GRE to get those scores.
FYI, schools don't care how many times you take the test. Just put your best foot forward.
Cheers! 168 Quant and 160 Verbal? That's reaching if you ask me for someone that's not a science student especially the Quant. Well I think if he can get 310 and above. Then write an impressive SOP detailing why the CGPA is like that. |

TWoods: Lets face it, quite a few people here appear to be quite dumb. I have to give thumbs up to the gurus here who seem to have a great deal of patience. In my view, there are some "questions" that should not be answered. For example, someone asking others opinion about a school - what happened to doing a diligent google search about the school's program, ranking (you can find this easily on USNews), alumni etc.? Often times people ask questions about how to fill in ordinary forms, how to answer obvious visa interview questions etc. The whole point of an F1 visa is that you are a bonafide student... the huge number of obvious frauds who appear at the interview is the reason we need to fast and pray just to obtain a visa. Lets call a spade a spade and stop this sickening attitude of making excuses for adults who seem to not have the intelligence required.
I agree we are all expected to be mature here, but maturity goes both ways. We should stop rewarding mediocrity by pretending "we were all there before". There was a time NL did not exist, i wonder how people secured admission to US schools and passed F1 interviews. I acknowledged the gurus in my text. I've learnt a lot as well and i appreciate that. But like I said and I agree with you, there are some questions that shouldn't be answered. I've seen some questions that sound outrageous, ridiculous and they baffle me that I ask myself "how will this person face a VO or even get where he/she is right now" or "why not just google it" but then like I said I ask myself, ignore the question and move on. But better the question stay unanswered than insult the person. We're all humans and regardless of however we might sound we wouldn't like to be insulted or made jest of publicly. In my opinion. |

successflow: when someone asked sure questions he or she might not be aware, have sure info or be a fans of this threat, you don't have to condemn or make the individuals look inferior with your respond, afterall everybody was once like that. just respond to the person positively like lagosismyhome. our attitude towards responding to questions matters alot.... This is very true. I didn't want to talk about it before because it's none of my business. But the way some people answer some questions here is really rude and very annoying. Yeah I know y'all most time give solution or answers to the problems but other times some people answer questions in a very rude and insulting manner like the person you're talking to is inferior or very dumb. And yes I know some people ask some very ridiculous questions but instead of making jest or answering in a rude manner just ignore no one would crucify you for ignoring. Shey Lagosismyhome is a person too, no matter how stupid the question she finds a subtle way to answer or redirect the person. Not every time say rubbish just because you want to comment. We're all supposedly mature here so I expect we'd do the right thing. P.S: It hasn't been done to me before but sometimes I see replies people give and I'll be like "wtf is this, just ignore the freaking question! Your name wasn't attached to the message" My 2 cents from my observation. |

It's very competitive in any school. Rewrite GRE and get a better score, somewhere in the 50/80 range which is 310/340 range.. Then you have better chances. |

Some cases this was not an issue and some i have seen where it was Well I believe if Dad's a citizen then the guy can apply for Immigrants visa. And it's about being truthful, and the VO knows he could have lied and said his dad is in Nigeria. So since he's eligible for an immigrants visa I think I don't see where saying Dad in the US is a sponsor an issue. I've seen transcripts here and MSinUS where this was the same issue and visa was granted without many many questions. But then what do I know, you're the queen bee |

happyday: Another big issue here is loneliness.
Finally, you're here. Holywood and your 'yankee' friends have made you believe these people are as outgoing and friendly as Nigerians. Turns out you're in for a shock. People smile at you, engage in small talk, but that's it. Everyone has got their cross to bear. You can't blame them.
You miss the happy atmosphere in Nigeria. You stay on calls to your family and babe(s) and boo(s) back home. Depends on how bad you are. You can't go knock on your neighbor's door, so you both can play PES. Or talk about the latest wack Davido track!
It's raining, and your American friends don't get it when you say 'weather for two', or 'based on logistics'. You see a sea of white heads, and wonder why your skin color is different. You wonder why you weren't born here. You engage someone in a convo, tell them you're from Nigeria, and they ask 'so tell me, how's Africa like?'. Damn!
You've always thought you were good looking, even handsome sef. But everyday, you see way hotter, cleaner chicks and dudes. You were always celebrated in your Nigerian University for your grades, work ethic, romantic pick-up lines or sexy legs. But here, nobody gives a flying hmm-hmm. You can't raise your hands, and ask questions the way your American peers are doing. Like you'll do in Naija, and feel like a don. You don't want to misyarn, look dumb. Or both. So, you keep shut.
You're average in everything. Every damn thing.
You graduated top of your class back in Naija, but here you're, struggling to keep up with term papers and homework. Worst part is, some of your classmates are not even putting in the effort. In fact, most of them. Suddenly, the phrase 'American citizen' suddenly makes sense to you. You now know there are as much types of visa as the letters in the English alphabet, and that your F1 is just at the low rung of the ladder.
You don't get some benefits. You might never do. Just for one simple reason. You were never born here!! Classes, and TV, and employers keep reminding you of this every day.
And then you remember Naija; home sweet home. You remember what your friends hail you for. Guys hitting on you, girls stealing glances at you, your book-smartness, your looks. And even your family. You just wanna go back home.
But hold on! Your peeps are back home are "happy for you", you don't use crap data, you're 24/7 on the Internet, NEPA (or whatever) don't show their prowess every 5 mins. Heck, you don't even know who supplies the electricity around here. Maybe straight from Washington or it's local. And frankly, you don't care.
The air here seems to smell different.
Though you can't cuddle or make out in the cold weather, at least you have a safe bed you can sleep in. The sirens remind you of your relative safety. Then, you wonder if it's possible for you to have both worlds? Be with your family, and also get a grad degree in a sane climate like you have here.
When shit gets this real, and they will, what do you do? Go online and watch more porn, come to Nairaland, and troll the pages?
What would you do you've not said number 3 and 4. |

LagosismyHome: Take it step by step 1. Yes you dont have to land directly at STL from Nigeria. So you can always fly into JFK and then connect however best it suits you and suit your pocket
2. A lot of cities in the USA dont have direct flight from Nigeria so thats ok and very common .
3. Note that local flight do not include luggage so you pay extra for that
4. You are allowed to enter the USA 30 days to the start date on your i20 ...so anything between 30 days uptill the last day on your i20 is fine. Never go before 30 days and never go after the date on your i20
5. Yes you can go 20days and settle in before classes start Thanks a lot bro. |

shayhune: 1. Why are you going to the US? You don't need to talk too much. If I was the VO, I'll just start snoring the moment you started preaching that your robotic gospel. Be as concise as possible. 2. The VO was asking about where you learned all that you said because you just sounded like a robot to him. You implicitly told him that you crammed it from the school site. 3. When you don't hear a question well. Don't just assume. Ask the VO again if indeed you're sure you didn't hear it well and be very attentive. 4. You gave a contradictory response to where you work. Why fill that you're a student when you've graduated or why fill your PPA as your current job description when you've passed out. Don't contradict yourself. Fill the right thing so you can answer appropriately without mincing words. 5. You haven't seen 24 years old that's married. Ask Ahmed Musa P.S Be as concise and specific as you can. Don't talk too much and don't answer what the VO didn't ask you. Also, don't forget the God factor. All things are possible to him that believes.
Go and get your visa bro. .. |
