You're just trying to be "smart". Why would you say Columbia University in the first place? There are alot of schools in America, and besides you can apply to Columbia even if you don't write GRE, the only thing that'll happen is they'll deny your application and you can then say you applied there. I understood your point but try not to be sleek next time.
Oasishavenng:

Until they ask the name of the school and you say Columbia University without GRE and the V.O bounces you. Now you isn't referring to you but people that will take your advise. Say the truth

Noone will know how many schools you applied to. You just have to be confident in the one school you applied to. I applied to just 1 school a couple of years ago, but i had all my facts right and gathered in regards to that school. The interviewer asked how many schools i applied to and i said 3. I'm not asking you to lie, i'm just saying the VO only knows what you tell them most of the time.
Approved2019:
Hi again house

I have another question. For the questions "How many schools did you apply to" and "Which schools?" Is there a way for the VO to verify how many and which schools I applied to?

I applied to only one school, but I don't know if this will put the VO off.

It's been awhile i came on here. I just remembered this platform and logged in. I am sorry to say this but your reason for choosing that course is why you got denied. It's not rocket science, sounds like a lot of bull. I am sorry if it sounded harsh but people need to think and be constructive when giving a reason for choosing the school or course because you know that question will definitely be asked.

Sorry, what I mean is this. You said after stamping your passport you then proceeded to claim your three lugages. My question is where did you package the file containing your passport and I20. Is it in another small hand bag?
I didn't mean I claimed 3 luggages. I meant I claimed 2 luggages and I had my hand luggage with me from the plane. So moving 3 boxes in total was difficult. And I just put my documentable in the DHL package that it was sent in and carried it in my hand.

Hello Gavira. I understand you had three heavy bags and they were not with you at the screening. Please did you have another small hand bag(that had your credentials) with you also? I just want to be sure cos am using AA too. Thanks
I don't understand what you mean by screening. I had 2 boxes(1 big, 1 small) and a small bag. The 2 bags were checked in for my international flight and the hang luggage with me on the plane(there was no space in the hand luggage, so I had to put my documents in a file that I also carried with me.
And for AA because one of my boxes was small and could fit in the overhead luggage, I didn't pay for it.

Congrats on your safe trip. As per the bolded, it seems you have a total of 3 baggage. Two checked-in and one hand luggage. Did you pay extra for bags? I thought it's two bags that is allowed without additional cost. Cos I will also be using Royal Air Maroc.
You can carry 2 checked bags and a hand luggage that can enter the overhead compartment and not more than 10kg. For those people that'll take connecting flights, you'll pay for your checked bags. For American Airlines it's $25 (plus $5 for the generation of the AA card since you don't have a credit card) a bag and $60 for 2 bags. But if one of your checked bags can fit in the overhead compartment then you can take it inside with you along with your hand luggage. That's something some people don't know. And it saved me $35.

So I got to my final destination(Illinois) like an hour ago.
My flight from Lagos to Casablanca was scheduled for 6:30am but got delayed till 10am on Wednesday morning, so I had gotten to the airport around 12am not knowing they had rescheduled the flight, so I stayed at the airport till the next morning with sleeping at all. So we left Lagos for Casablanca around 10:20 and got there around 14:30, meanwhile my stopover was to be 4 hours in Casablanca and we had already used that up in the Lagos delay, so as soon as we alighted those of us with the 4 hour stopover had to rush over to the departure terminal to leave immediately. So we left Casablanca around 15:20 and got to New York(JFK) at 7:30pm local time. The POE queue was freaking long. People of different color, race and gender all queuing to enter the US. We were sha moving small small till I got to the front. By the way I don't know why I've just been having that thought of secondary screening and each time it pops up in my head I just reject it. So I was put on a queue in front of one white CBP officer where I had some Asians and Europeans in front of me. The guy took one Asian and one European for secondary screening. I just said it cannot happen to me in my mind. Gbam it got to my turn
Me: Good evening sir
CBP: Good evening sir
I gave him my passport,i20 and SEVIS without him asking.
He stared at the passport and looked into my eyes, asked me to put my four fingers on the scanner, Checked my i20, stamped my passport, gave it to me and said "Next". He didn't ask me a single question. Not even why are you here? Or where are you headed? Or do you have garri and so? So I cleared immigration around 9:30pm at JFK. Moved to baggage claim, carried my 2 heavy boxes and my heavy hand luggage to luggage storage because my flight to St. Louis was for 5am in the morning and I can't be carrying heavy bags up and down the very big airport that someone can lost inside. So I had already checked online and saw that it's only in Terminal 4 that the luggage storage is run 24hours, so I moved from Terminal 1 to Terminal 4 using AirTrain which is free within the airport. I stored my luggage, they don't weigh luggage o, they use the height of the box/bag to tell you how much you'll pay. Anyways I paid $16 to store the 3 boxes. I then proceeded to look for Terminal 8 which is where my American Airlines flight is. I went there and they told me check-in starts by 3am. So I went to Dunkin Donuts and bought Turkey with bacon and cheddar in flatbread and I ate it with iced coffee. Everything was $8.64. Then I used the free internet for 30minutes which was quite fast. Time went by and American Airlines delayed their flight till 6:30am, I waited again, meanwhile throughout my trip which was over 30hours by then I hadn't got more than 5 hours of sleep, noting that I didn't sleep the night before the day I left Nigeria because I was happy.
Cutting the story short even though it's very long already.lol. I left JFK to my destination around 7:00am Thursday and I got to my apartment around 13:00. The time is 14:58. And I really need to sleep.

Hello house, I'm new here and I've been reading through. I have my interview scheduled for next week. However, I do not understand SEVIS FEE and why it should be paid. I just want to know please. I don't want to be ignorant of why I'm paying.

Thanks house
You scheduled interview without knowing what SEVIS is? Anyways you need to pay it and have it reflect before your interview date. It's a compulsion by the US Immigration.

No need .....if maggi is not allowed then be it wrapped or unwrapped no difference.

Some POE dont allow thing that contain meat or chicken so maggi chicken might not be allowed . Depending on who u meet at POE . Hence some POE dont allow indomie chicken due to the chicken spices but some allow

Thank God I saw this, I had already packed Maggi chicken. It's not worth the risk of thinking some POE allow. It's just 500naira. It's not worth coming back home for or paying a fine of like $50.lol. DeeTus and Lagosismyhome you just saved me stress. Thanks. grin

Port of Entry (POE) Experience

Good day, e-family. Greetings from Indiana. I left Naija on Friday at about 6:30AM, Nigerian time. Arrived Casablanca around 10AM. Layover lasted for 11hours. My connecting flight departed Morocco around 9PM and arrived JFK on Saturday at about 4AM, Nigerian time. I traveled with Royal Air Maroc. My journey was relatively smooth except for minor bouts of turbulence experienced from Casablanca to JFK.

On arrival, I headed to Customs and Border Control (CBP). We were to verify our visas with one machine like that, but it turned out the machine doesn't recognize F1 visas and a couple other visa types. So my verification had to be done manually by a CBP officer. The
queue for manual verification was longer than Mugabe's term in office. Had absolutely no problem waiting though.

Finally, it got to my turn. The CBP officer was a light-skinned man of South American extraction, presumably in his mid-thirties. I presented my passport (had my boarding passes inserted at the visa page), my I-20, and the declaration form given to me on the flight from Casablanca. He returned my boarding passes, verified my visa, took a brief glimpse at my I-20. I even forgot to sign my declaration form, so he gave me to sign it and collected it afterwards. Then he asked me to put the four fingers of my right hand on a biometric machine. After that, he took a snap shot of me and proceeded to stamp my passport. BAM!

There was no much exchange. He did not ask me any single question and he didn't even say "Welcome to the US". I sha carry my passport examined it and saw the stamp. It read, "ADMITTED". A smile of pure satisfaction spread on my lips. I bounced off happily to Baggage Claim.

The journey begins...
My guy you made it grin. Nice one. Been waiting for your update.

All thanks to those that contributed to my issue yesterday...God bless you so much,I was relieved and YES the I can do it mentality struck me once again.

Here is my question I was rejected twice for Summer Admits and twice for Fall Admits at the Lagos consular. My School resumes Aug 16th 2017 M trying to reschedule for another interview next-week God willing. My question goes thus...Should I go ahead or just chill till later next year.

Aside the fact that I don't....wanna miss out this admission....My wife is preggy and will be due for OCT/NOV note she's staying LEGIT on F1
too ,really need to be there for her, just blank on what to do

Please HOUSE advise..GOD BLESS YOU ALL
Well I'd say you should go again since it wasn't what you said that caused your denials, it's what you didn't say. So pray to God and ask him to open your mouth when you're in front of the VO. And also tell God you want to be directed to the VO that'll approve your visa. And you'll get it by his grace.

Of course but I guess it was used here for some folks and is particularly not good.

This is this family I know when I was doing my NYSC because I used to wear funny uniform and some particular kind of people would aways come to the house to see me. Whenever this woman uses us, she would say "world people" I told her to check her daughters that they are " the world people" not me, not even my friends.

Out of the blue, she asked me why. I said watch closely your two daughters. They sleep around passionately like call girls. They're gone. Totally gone! One later became pregnant for her church pastor, the same woman who call folks "world people" had to relocate her to another state in order to avoid people knowing, while the other one was expelled from school due to the fact that she used fake documents to procure admission.

So, who are the world people actually? Hope you can answer that now.

Chief it's not that deep.lol

Good evening everyone.

My visa delayed at Abuja embassy yesterday 19th July by an african-american lady probably in her early to mid 30s

See below my transcripts- Kindly let me know what part I Bleeped and how i can do better next time

Vo: good morning
Me: good morning, how are you today?
Vo: can I av ur passport nd I-20
Me: I obliged
Vo: why are you going to the US?
Me: Am going to the US for my masters in public health at Georgia Southern University
Vo: why Georgia Southern university
Me: Asides the fact that Georgia Southern University has a great program curriculum that fits my graduate study needs, I am particularly interested in an on-going research real healthcare reforms focusing on primary care access in under-served population and the rural areas of which my community is presently underserved health wise. This will help me address the healthcare challenges when i return back home (Honestly she wasn't listening because she just kept typing and nodding till she noticed i had finished answering her question)
Vo: what do you do currently?
Me: I work with a health consulting firm as a public health specialist on the CDC/PEPFAR funded ACTION Plus up program where i support over 50 private health facilities in delivering quality HIV/AIDS services to people infected and affected by the disease. I also build the capacity of the health facility staff on proper monitoring of HIV patients. (she was nodding again and staring at her screen so i just thought she was seeing it on my DS160- well guess i was wrong)
Vo: who will be sponsoring you?
Me: My brother and my mum
Vo: (She calls his name because it's on my I-20) what does he do and your mum too?
Me: He works with the federal department of transport and he is also in the US army while my mum is senior lecture in one of the higher institutions in nigeria
Vo: Do you have his account statement with you?
Me: Yes i do
Vo: Can I see it? and your mums' to if you have it
Me: Pass the account statements to her
VO: (She looks at my brother's statement) why will he be willing to use all his savings to pay for your tuition?
Me: My mum will be supporting him with the tuition, so he wont be paying all alone (In my mind, what if he decides to use his whole savings sha)
VO: Your mum doesn't seem to have enough as well to cover for one year tuition
Me: Like i said earlier the one year tuition will come from both parties and not just one person. I also have savings myself
VO: I will be putting your application under administrative processing for now, She hands me the yellow paper and writes admin processing on it
Me: How long before a decision is made? Meanwhile she kept both financial statements and my passport with her, but returned my I-20
VO: I can't tell, but you will receive an email in that regards
Me: Thank you. (Then started to head out)

Feeling very disappointed i called my people and told them the outcome of the interview and they were very positive that they (VOs) probably needed to do more verification on the accounts i presented. A few hours letter, my mum confirmed from her account manager that an email came from the Embassy regarding her account statement i presented. Well my bro did not get any verification on his account.

BTW..... I saw about 6 applicants but i can't for sure say any of us got an approval yesterday

Today i decided to check my passport status since i was yet to receive any email as to what next, i saw a REFUSAL

I would be reapplying again but most likely lagos this time. Kindly go through my transcripts and let me know what i can do better next time
I see nothing wrong here. It's the famous "black Margaret Thatcher" of the Abuja consulate. Go to Lagos and with your responses you shouldn't have any issue by God's grace.
