All gurus in the house please help a brother ooo, am so tired now,
my car was smoking and shorting oil so I decided to change the engine. the car is Honda accord 1997 (bulldog).
after loosing the old engine the mechanic discovered that engine had a sensor attached to it, the engine is VTEC, though the mechanic said the reacl engine of that car is not vtech but the one I bought, I bought the car with the engine like that the previous owner must have changed it to the vtech.
so we called the person that sold it and he said we have to remove the oil pump from the old one and put it in the new one that that's where the sensor is, so we did that and fixed the new engine inside.
the card started well and after coupling I said let me test drive it, it was driving well but not raising well, after which the throttle cable failed so I bought a new one and the mechanic fixed it.
after fixing it, it took lots of hassles of more than 2hrs b4 the car started and now its still not raising and driving well, also the rpm in the dashboard doesn't raise well too when the engine is raised.
please guys help me what's the solution please the mechanic and electrician have been trying all day to no avail.
please help

Timing marks are definately off, vtec sensor possible not present in your present engine, you are also working blind.

All of you missed the answer.

Basically your starter is giving you a warning it is about to die. You might have a lot of oil leak over the starter but this case is more like time to change it while in Lagos than the middle of Okitipupa and Ore after buying so yam on the road

Highlander 01-05 scan result might reveal nothing. Check fuses.

Am based in kwara state, what's the range of a denso in tank fuel pump pls? So that I can buy and just ask the mechanic to fix.further comments are as well welcomed. Pls help a brother out...

You are going about your repairs blindly, before you replace a fuel pump, you should know how much fuel preasure it delivers, locate a proper workshop that has equipment that can diagnose faults before replacing parts.

Hello house my car is running me mad. I drive a Pontiac vibe 2004, I noticed a sudden drag in the acceleration of the car which sometimes look like the car exhaust is blocked. I scanned thee car and got p420. I took the car to my mechanic and he said the exhaust system is blocked. He traced it to the manifold and said the catalyst there is blocked and should be removed so the engine can breath well, he removed it and for once in a long while my car moved like a formula one contestant. I also had my plugs and engine air filter change to the recommend one for my engine (iridium NGK) suddenly after like 3days of use, I observed the drag again but this time the exhaust makes a sound like the plugs are bad, during my childhood days when a car sounds that way we call it banger motor. I returned the car to the mechanic and he returned my old plugs..after driving for like 40mins..the sound like firecrackers came again, I had to turn back from a trip to akure. The mechanic then changed my fuel pump, the car moved so fine without any complain that I had to commend my mechanic after getting to akure. The gear selects fine and doesnt jack at all my mechanic also serviced the nozzles. I returned to Ilorin again yesterday and I noticed the drag comes once in a while. Please house help a brother out, I have spent much in the last few days all on the try and errors of my technician. Yet the car only pop up p420 code whenever I scan it. What could be wrong with my car. Sir sienna and other car knights in the house kindly help out a brother

There's no code like p420, there's a closer match p0420 catalyst efficiency below threash hold.

The code is expected, since there is no catalyst.

The tune up was done blindly or by guessing. Why change spark plugs only to put your own back? Unless you are a fan of substandard cheap parts? If you put a fake fuel pump you should also expect it to breakdown quick.

@Gazzuz it happens in two modes. The engine could trip and go off completely, or it could still be running but won't respond to acceleration. Is the brain box same as ECU? Unfortunately I'm attending to an issue at Abuja at the moment but I live in Owerri. Thanks

bolded 1, engine might need tuning.

bolded 2 drain transmission oil, remove transmission pan, wash strainer(filter) or replace, refill with fresh oil (TIV or WS).

Dear Naira landers, I have a 2005 RAV4 4 cyl that is giving me serious issues. It goes off if I accelerate suddenly (like while trying to overtake another vehicle), or it stops responding to acceleration completely after a few seconds it comes back on. It has nearly caused an accident twice and I had to leave the road Asides this, it drives smoothly and shifts gears normally on even acceleration. My mechanic suggests that I change the engine for 180k... please any other suggestions or opinions?

WS? Omo take it easy o! How did you read the manual? Your engine oil should be 0W20 if you can't find it buy 5W20.

WS is transmission oil for the gearbox.

Car is fairly tokunbo, registered last year and everything seems perfect with no single stored or pending codes. However, I drive 9km to work and 9km back home. 18km daily but the fuel gauge metre on the instrument panel goes down faster than normal . it was full tank on Monday and after 18km On Monday , 18km on Tuesday and 9km on Wednesday totaling 45km, I had to fill tank with another 37 litres of unleaded around 5:00 pm this evening. Is everything OK?

Go to owode on ketu-ikorodu road, search for your car, or just ask some one by the gate what you need, they will take you to an accidented car, same make, just pick what you want. Should be less than 5k. Don't forget to buy any missing parts including bolts.

It's a sign of irresponsible government. Any day we have a responsible government in place, all this rubbish will stop. Nobody is accountable to anybody, Officer treat people as they like. Who would ask questions. Even if you report them, they come up with counter reasons why those incidents took place. The annoying part is that most of these officers intimidating motorist are semi-literates and brandishing their guns unnecessarily. If you talk to their superiors, you will be shocked they are birds of a feather.

I have had countless annoying encounters with them. Best approach is to be civil while interacting with them. From their behaviour, apparently, they are criminals in Police or Army uniform looking for the lamest excuse to extort you. Avoid them the best you could.

If you live in the northern part of nigeria(core north) you will love the nigerian police, they greet you very well and wish you a safe journey (when on stop and search) they do not ask for money to buy paper to write a report when you go to the station, they are polite, they do not demand for money, instead they ask ask nicely if there's thing to (sha ruwa) drink water. Funny thing is when you meet a few bad eggs, they probably served some where in the south b4 or are from the south.

There is less corruption in the police up north.

I change oil at every 3,000Miles using same Total. i choose Total been the fact that i can be sure of the content; coz i buy from Total Petrol Station Area11 or the one opposite NNPC. NOW MY QUESTION IS, CAN I START USING THE RECOMENDED OIL OF 5W30 I'M SEEING AROUND LIKE THE ONE KONGA SELL ETC OR CONTINUE WITH TOTAL 5000?
