Since i signed up with this forum, though recent, i have been just an ocassional visitor here, especially reading car talks, like i am a freak on that, and also on politics now, because of the unavoidable drama going on in the political history of the most endowed country in africa, 9ja. I have a 406 prestige, 01/02, though i'm not too sure of that model, as it is not clear to me how the French coded the year of manufacture. It is not like other cars i have driven. I have never used my cars more than 3 years, but this one is like a spell cast on me, it is 4 years old now and still drives smooth. Though i adopted it with a gear problem right from the car dealer's shop, but because i do not give up on things easily it took my time, money & sweat to get to the root. The first mistake i made was to change the gear that came with it, as it was not given complete transmission, jacks at some point and ocassionally refuse to return to gear one when the car comes to a stop or iddle. I had to put off the engine to correct that. All other gears i bought works fine for maybe two weeks or a month like the last one did, then the ususal warning light"automatic gear fault" showing on the screen, seriously believe me it is not funny, especially when confronted with statements from neighbors. "if this car no kill you, you go kill am" said my own friend. I warn at last, problem solved. After a brief deliberation on what to do the rescue the car, we decided to procure for a gear that comes with the engine, because my engine is a V6. We got one from Aba for 280k, and ever then my car became born again till date, that was when we realized all the gears sold to me were for four(4)cylinder engine. When i asked how the whole exeprienced,even my mechanic could not know the differrence, his answer was that the both gears are similar with no mark to differenciate them. Now, i believe the present anomally i observed maybe be simple to get an advise from this platform: Friends, i like long distant waka and this french boy dey serve me well on that. My temperature increases when i am on the high way. Logically this should happen when i am in traffic, but it never happen, rather it gets normal, and i expect it to come down when i had plent wind on a high speed. What could be the cause....somebody help!!

[color=Blue]I'm not an advocate of oil flushes, and I'll tell you why.

If a good quality oil is used, and it's replaced at the specified intervals, then one shouldn't even be considering an engine flush.

There have been quite a few documented cases of engines losing oil pressure AFTER having a flush. The reasons are simple - carbon deposits tend to stick to the oil pan, rocker covers, timing chain covers and oil galleries in engines that MAY have had oil changes skipped, poor quality oil used, or simply high mileage.

As long as these deposits are stuck somewhere, they're not considered an issue. Break them down with any flushing agent, any carbon deposits that are NOT dissolved WILL travel to where they'll do the most harm - into the oil pump gears, and clog up the oil pump pick-up screen. The engine will then seize from lack of adequate lubrication.

The ONLY way to clean a dirty engine is to run it till the oil is hot, drain it IMMEDIATELY, then pull the oil pan, timing chain and rocker covers, giving them a good wash with DIESEL. Finally replace them with new gaskets or OEM sealant, not that nasty black "gum" Nigerian mechanics seem to be in love with . [/color]

“No no, that didn’t kill him he survived that. He
managed to get the wardrobe off him and crawls out onto the landing, he tries to pull himself up on the banister but under his weight, the banister
breaks and he goes falling down on to the first floor. In mid air, all the broken banister poles spin and fall on him,
pinning him to the floor, sticking right through him.”

“Now that is the most
unfortunate way to go!”

“No no, that didn’t kill him, he even survived that. So he’s on the downstairs landing, just
beside the kitchen. He crawls in to the kitchen, tries to pull himself up on the stove, but reached for a big pot of boiling hot water, whoosh, the whole thing came down on him and burned most of his skin off him.”

“Man, what a way to go!”

“No no, he survived that,
he survived that! He’s lying on the ground, covered in boiling water and he spots the phone and tries to pull himself up, to call for help, but instead he grabs the light switch and pulls the
whole thing off the wall and the water and electricity didn’t mix and so he got electrocuted, wallop, 10,000 volts shot
through him.”

“Now that is one awful
way to go!”

u can do b
u can do better by stating ur car model dt it works for another engine doesnt make it to work for your engine.
If you can buy the specified recommended engine oil for u car ,it will work better in cleaning your engine inside and out other than going for one third party stuff dt can react with sensitive part of ur engine to create more problems

Did u knw wat makes me keep on argue wif u,u said "No manufactuer wil even recommend 4x service 4 any vehicle in a year".......Let me enlight u bro, if da economy is good nt dis tyme wen da rate of importation of goods has fallen due to falln in Naira...If da economy iz good nd ther is high demand for goods from western to eastern syd or to d north.A truck like 12 tyres (man disel) will gain at least 130k a week after paid for (fuel,driver nd motor boy) nd if dea s no damage......if u gain 130K a week pls hw much is jst 20K evry six wks for service jst for ur vehicle 2b in good condition.......(Diesel engine vehicle)

Thanks Master Gazzuzz I just acquired the rav 4 2006 model from cotonou. Is it adviceable to service the car immediately before I take it down to east. And is the best oil to use? Thank you.

Thank you all for your informations and suggestions, I so much appreciate, I have changed the kickstarter though, but just wanted to find out, if there was any relationship. Moreso, immediately I changed d kickstarter, d check engine light on my dashboard disappeared .

Who have used a product by ABRO called Engine flush, my mechanic recommended it, at my last oil change.

You rubbished it as always just because they(sahara reporters) won't stop airing the truth about this failed, corrupt and bloodthirsty administration, Just because they probably have rejected the brown envelope from you corrupt bunch and above all, have refused to be compromised.

Having a faulty kick-starter can be really frustrating. The only remedy is to replace it, don't even bother repairing it.

The kick starter of my sienna gave way barely 3 months after purchase, I just had to fix another one. Tokunbo cars are not perfect one fixing or the other has to be done and the parts could fail anytime.

OK bro, thanks a lot, the car is a honda bulldog I've asked some mechanics here they all are insisting on new engine that its hard to fix that engine, that if its ringed it won't last, please is this true?

Hi Guys,
I want to service my 2003 corolla sports and the recommended engine oil from my manual says 5w30. I cant seem to get it hence I was advised to use Mobil 1 0w40.
Am I safe using this?
