@ the bolded you can't really say you own a vehicle/s cause you are neck deep in debt, I think you should call the guys you are owning to see if they will be interested in helping you out to clear your stuff (paying a bit more) put them in small groups and use "your cars" to settle them they decide how to liqidate the cars to get their money back. OP you can get a car for 200k even for 150k with a near perfect engine, but just deciding what to get based on just engine performance is not a very good approach,unless you want to become a mechanic overnite, I will advice you save up for a good car(400-500 naija use). There's nothing wrong with buying naija used just be careful.

P.s ild rather buy a sharp car with a perfect body, transmission and electricals + bad engine than the other way around.

if I may ask. would a scan reveal anything (trouble codes) even if the CEL isn't on?
I was of the impression that if I don't get a CEL I don't need a scan.

If you do not have your cel light up, but have a problem with your car (permenent or intermittent) your best bet is a live scan of real time data from the sensors, that way and experienced technician can easily pic out what is out of place, and solve the problem easily.

I can get you a good ENGINE for 100K 4wheels and 2bumpers front and back. The rest we go de buy am small small.

check the oil seals, if non is leaking then your engine is burning fuel .It is either the valve oil seal is bad or the piston and rings are worn out, in this case you may have to resurface the cylinder or install a bigger piston .You can do it yourself . Good luck

I fixed my vtec solenoid, it was a connection problem. My car can now rev to 5000 on Park. I was told this normal on Park. I hope that's true.
The scan results yielded 2nd clutch pressure switch malfunction which was later discovered that it was not plugged. It was plugged back and code disappeared.
The codes I still have now are
P0325: Knock sensor malfunction
P0135: Primary heated O2 sensor
P0141: Secondary heated O2 sensor
P1751: mechanical problem in Hydraulic system
Any advice on these?
I observed that my car makes about 3 failed attempts to upshift to Gr 2 when cold but runs seamlessly when hot. Could this be due to wrong ATF fluid? And can it be remedied?

Cold oil is thicker than hot oil, also old cold oil is sticky and could be causing some of your solenoid switches to stick, consider replacing your transmission oil if you have not done that in a while.

In the nigerian setting there is no straight answer to this problem.

Hit and run is a crime, hit and don't run is a sin (against ur self naija only).

My advice is when running if you see a small police post, don't stop, keep moving until you can get to a well fortified police station or army barracks to turn your self in (make sure you turn your self in)

hello gurus. pls I have this issue with my car. it was serviced 26 of September with Mobil oil. now 23 of October it started displaying check engine light. and when I checked discovered there was no oil in the engine any longer. the car does not emit any smoke and there's no leakage whatsoever. my friend who knows much about car told me the engine oil j used was bad. pls I need more opinions on this .car is Mazda protégé 2001. 4 cylinder.

Possible causes
*Engine is burning oil.
*You have a leak.
*You never had the right amount.

Simple solution, check you car every day for the next 1month, if you notice any shortage, engine is burning oil.

For the possible leak check where u usually park, there should be a significant amount of engine oil on the floor.

Might be a 5liter engine (don't know just guessing since u bought 1 gallon at 3100)

For thr blinking D4 light please scan vehicle.

For the unstable suspension(left and right thing) please get a mechanic to check tie rods, tie rod ends, ball joints, and bushings.

For the eratic temperature, a live scan will tell you if the problem is from the instrument cluster or from the coolant tempreature sensor, the sensor might be faulty(rear cases) harness migh be broken or disconnected(happens all the time) contact to sensor might also be corroded.

Maybe he meant it keeps revving hard and the sound gets loud. The sound synonymous with manual tranny when you keep depressing the throttle but don't wish to change gear to a higher ratio.

I thought Oando was labelled dex II. Remember you are using something that could be substandard so I'd you can get a better brand. I am not sure Oando brand is certified to any standard post a pic of both front and back label of the package if you can

If you check the spec sheet on their site is say Dex II no too on Dex III car

Remove the kickdown cable from the throttle body. (Disconnect) let it hang. Drive and see if problem persists.
