Healthquest: This is actually LPG, CNG is cheaper and the rate will still be same.
As at today, CNG is sold around 130 to 15o per kg but my question is does the carburetor serve both LPG and CNG ? because I know they cannot be mix and I also know the engine can work with either of LPG and CNG but the kits( carburator) cannot fit for duo . Like u need to get a CNG carburetor if you're using an LPG own. Can you clarify gazzuz Zoom in . Uses CNG/LPG/PMS

staga: The cylinder size is 28kg when full. It can contain 12.5kg of propane (LPG) or equivalent fluid content of 26.5 litres.
A 6.5kVA generator contains 25 litres of fuel and it can only run for a maximum of 12 hours. I stand to be corrected. The OP must have done the test on a 2KVA generator.
I intend to do this test as well. I will run a full 12.5kg cylinder of gas and see how many hours it will last, then run the same gen on a full tank, watch the consumption and the cost, then find out how many litres of PMS it will take to match the number of hours it will take to exhaust a full LPG cylinder.

Gajagojo: . I am sorry sir you are misguided
Th e entire purpose of the exercise is to influence a financial decision So the basis of comparison should be how much gas does it take to run the generator at full capacity for a unit time for example 24 hours Versus How much petrol to achieve the same objective. And A comparison in cost
So comparison is neither mass nor volume but. Comparison of financial cost of running with either gas or petrol.
A Kg to kg comparison is useful for caloric studies in a physics study. Density does not come into it and is irrelevant
This is purely an economic or business study to determine which is the cheaper fuel
A good analogy is a diesel engine vehicle versus petrol
The motorist is concerned with kilometres per naira
It is important to learn how to formulate problems in other people's terms and address what is important to them smart man |

CSTRR: The risk of that is minimal when used in a highly ventilated environment.
Generators should be kept outside anyway, so there is enough Nitrogen in the air to dilute any leakage.
It's far safer than petrol. Smart man |

sprints1: This is a big lie a 1 litre of fuel in filling station cannot run for 1hr 40min + on 2.5kva generator the one you measured is total gallon which is way higher than filling station 1 litre. The 1 litre of Mobil or total or lubcon gallon is approx 1.5 litres of filling station so no dey cap. Do ya own experiment post nah.....

nex: Good day my dear brother. I would like some clarification on how the gas is administered versus the petrol because the entire 1kg of gas may be fully exhausted and we'll measured, but the petrol, if poured into a completely empty tank, there may be some reserve fuel left in the tank which the generator may not be able to utilize before it goes off. How do we account for that. Good question.
I factored that consideration into my calculations by draining fuel from the carburettor supply line not by emptying the tank complete.
Approximately 1L of petrol was used in this experiment. |

GAZZUZZ: In response to the removal of PMS subsidy.
I have installed an LPG/CNG carburettor that also works with PMS (petrol)
Kindly note
Fuel tank emptied via the supply hose .
Scale set to measure lpg as it is consumed in KG
1L of fuel measured out into a gallon and will be poured into gen.
Same amount of load will be applied in both instances .
Timer set to zero.
I will start with LPG.... Will run for 1KG and I will turn it off once it hits 1kg on the scale the mark the time.
Next will be petrol PMS, it will also run for 1L then I will mark the amount of time it took before gen went off.
1kg of gas = ₦650 (June 12 2023)
1L of petrol = ₦500 (June 12 2023)
Let's start.
Any questions feel free to ask.
Modified summary
Total time of LPG - 197mins at #650/kg
= #3.3/min
Total time or petrol - 106 mins at #500/l
= #4.7/m
Another way of looking at it .
With Gas
By calculation
1kg of gas at 650naira per kg lasted 3.17hours (3hours 17mins)
How many kg of gas per hour 650/3.17= 205.
Cost per hour = ₦205
I.e ₦205 of gas lasted one hour
*With Petrol*
One liter at #500 lasted 1.46mins (one hour 46mins)
Cost per hour= 500/1.46 = ₦342
Conclusion LPG cheaper

Personally gas is so safer than pms any day, but I'll have to put out this warning.
WARNING!!!!
LPG IS FLAMMABLE.
THE GAS LINE AND GAS CYLINDER SHOULD BE KEPT AWAY FROM NAKED FLAMES AND HOT SURFACES.
WHEN TROUBLESHOOTING A PROBLEM WITH YOUR GEN USE PMS ESPECIALLY FOR VALVE AND ELECTRICAL ISSUES.
FINALLY THE END PRODUCT IS STILL CARBON MONOXIDE AND GEN SHOULD NEVER BE USED IN A CONFINEMENT, CARBON MONOXIDE WILL KILL IF THIS HAPPENS.
Happy independence day people .

Rubby1: Good Evening all. Thank God is Sunday, I was with a top FRSC officer yesterday, who told me that the new Chinese traffic lights in the FCT (Abuja) are not just to direct traffic but a means of generating IGR for the Government, any time you go against the traffic lights, it will record your PLATE NUMBER and it will show in their database and a fine will be attached, so when you are ready to renew your license or papers it will show your accumulated fine and if you are not ready to pay at that time your car will be impounded and start Demurrage from that day, pls let us respect the new Chinese traffic lights and know the type of people we give our cars to and advise everyone too. why not just drive like a normal person, obey the lights and renew docs when due. .
