For Transparency let me talk about this vehicle.

As a cardealer I stopped to investigate vehicle, There are a lot of great vehicle deals, just ensure you have capital at your disposal.
I inspected vehicle, Vehicle passed mechanicals and electricals with flying colours...

vehicle had the usual suspension noises that are not uncommon with Nigerian used cars.

As a standard I sent the VIN to Carguide for a quick report got a response as flooded.

now let me teach you guys 1 thing about Flooding and vehicles.

1. Avoid salt water flooding.

2. Vehicles equipped with several modules should be avoided

3. Check for rust and corrosion.

4. check for defective engine/transmission.

1/2/3/4 done all perfect. this Corolla is equipped with the following modules.

1. Engine ECU, 2. A/c module 3. Airbag ecu. These 3 modules are inexpensive and currently functional.

Salt water flooding is corrosive look at the engine bay pics, does this vehicle look Flooded? The clean title toks Corolla I sold early this month had more rust in the engine bay due to salt in snow than this car that was used in the desert (texas), If lekki was USA every vehicle there would have been certified salvage/flooded, as what they pass thru every rain is an equivalent of what a Flooded title vehicle should be.

Buying good Cars requires skill and experience, there are thousands of good Nigerian cars out there much better than a lot of toks cars, it takes knowledge and understanding to find them out.

I am held to a different standard when it comes to vehicle sales, I am yet to sell a defective vehicle on this platform.

That's that for my robust response. wink

I forgot to add, I sold the battery pack of the Highlander For N50,000 and the scrap aluminum motor had a lot of copper windings inside, it was sold then for 15k, nothing went to waste

Car flipping is not illegal. To purchase a car, inspect and verify true owner, make payment and it becomes yours. Do with it as you like.

The engine that came out was extremely clean... it was a beauty to behold.

I packaged the engine and took it to jos and sold it to a part seller for 200k (cash)

came back and dropped the engine/tranny in my 1999 camry, it was a 1mz-fe engine, I bought some engine mounts and placed the engine in the Hybrid subframe.... It sat perfectly.....

Wired up the car, and it started and ran almost perfectly grin

for the camry, I threw in the 4cylinder 5s-Fe engine into the bay, together with the harness and ecu I bought, engine started but didn't drive well.... gear was stuck in first. Took me a couple of days to realise the speed sensor was not connected to the engine ecu, but once I realised, car ran perfectly.

I sold the camry for very good money.... And the highlander for 1.2m in jos, it was a very good deal.

Now back to the question

What really motivated you to purchase this vehicle and undertake restoration? I know u not a huge fan for hybrids

Vehicles are evolving, in the near future electric cars will rule the roads, I have never received any formal training when it comes to machine fixes as a whole, I read, I experiment, I understand, I implement.

I want to go into hybrid fixes, but I cannot start by tinkering with client vehicles, so as usual I read, I understand I experiment, I understand more I implement, I am better equipped for whatever is thrown at me.

hybrids would be more popular if the technicians that could fix them were every where, so also the parts.

This is a growing market, and I do not want to be left behind, best to take a front row seat.

As I said earlier, I will add hybrid vehicle imports/parts and offer warranties on sales if serviced with us over a period. That would make hybrid lovers who were scared embrace hybrid vehicles.

At the end electric plugins are the future and we will get there.

Next I put the parts in my booth and drove back to the north.

when I Got back.

I took out the Battery pack of the Hybrid, the inverter unit, the engine and electric motor, By dropping the front subframe.

3days guarantee made no sense at all... it takes 1 whole day to drive 1200km to bauchi from lagos, takes another day to install and test, and a final day to return undecided

it was too tight, and sadly the inverter units I could see were all "fugly" looking... I could not take the risk.

So I did the unthinkable.

I bought a 5s-fe motor complete with engine harness and engine ecu. Bought the motor from ladipo and the ecu and harness from Owode complete with a/c compressor.

I first tried calling the market from bauchi to find out the average price, but was unsuccessful, as I did not have the proper connects..

Nah so I enter road with my carinaII 1992 model that had a 4A-FE engine fire de go lagos (that car was a beauty)

Getting to ladipo I saw the promise land, but could not enter.... cry

The inverter price was 400k with 3day guarantee cry

The vehicle was being driven in via land border when it had a collision with a motorcycle rider somewhere in kastina, the rider survived with minor injuries, the drive did not notice the coolant leaks from the crack on the Hybrid system, he fixed the leak on the radiator and continued his journey.

Midway somewhere around kaduna, the vehicle went off and was towed to bauchi. The bumper was fixed, headlight repaired, then towed to the electricians shop for fixing.

back then I had a toyota camry 1998 V6......
