Good evening bosses,

I've noticed that my Honda-accord 98 doesn't rev above 5000. I have the p0420 code on. I bought a new cat converter in December last year, I've had a panel beater check and his reply was that the cat isn't blocked.

What could be the problem here?

My Honda Civic 01 goes dead when driving slowly or moving in traffic leaving all the dashboard lights on (usually after driving for 20-30 mins).
I usually feel loss of power in the engine when this is about to happen.
sometimes it starts again immediately after shifting gear from drive to park and turning on the ignition while other times I have to wait for about 20 mins before it comes back to life.

When am on the highway 120km/h with my odb2 connected and my friend keeping an eye on engine coolant temperature on my iPad, it stops at 70 degrees Celsius and not more, but my manual says temp must be within 80-95 degrees Celsius after warming up, however once am standing still idling at the car park the temperature starts moving up to the manufacturer's required spec up to 90, is this a normal or abnormal condition.

noticed my drivability issues and very bad fuel economy is tied to too many components, but I found out my TPS is behaving funny when I did resistance check on it at WOT, the resistance starts reading when the throttle is opened at almost 30-40% and not from 0%, and when you close the throttle valve the resistance also stops at 30-40% before final close of the throttle valve.
So this means from 0-40% opening of the throttle the ECU is not informing the injector to supply

2. IAT not same with ambient temperature. I am also confused it looks like my IAT is together with my MAF. It's a Toyota Avensis Verso 2002

I am changing my coolant anti freeze and thermostat as routine service, should I change the engine coolant sensor also.

My MAF result in grams is good within spec, but my intake air temperature does not equal ambient temperature, how do I check my IAT correctly.
You said timing chain should be changed at 170,000km, I've heard they last up to 400,000km
Can you give your expert opinion on this. Also note I have no DTC's but failed emission test with CO 0.8 instead of max 0.5, and HC 118 instead of max 100

The following things did not meet the right manufacturer's reading
1. TPS reading 30% at WOT on highway and even on idle and engine rev at 6500RPM instead of 64-98%

Make sure that your vehicle is in a roadworthy condition before departure. All lights and indicators, windscreen wipers, brakes, steering, exhaust system and tyres should be carefully examined for faults.

Hellonall. Good evening all. Pls I hav a small issue with my reliable Camry 2004 I4 engine. Whenever I remove my battery to help someone start his or her car when I reconnect mine i always have cylinder 4 misfire. Have swapped iginition coils and have the same problem on cylinder four meaning that cylinder 4,ignition coil is good. also changed spark plug but notice th same misfire. The last time it happened I had to travel with the car for a long distance and all of a sudden the car behaved like it was brand new. Since den it has been wow. Now I help someone with my battery and the problem has showed up.again. any suggestions guys. Thanks all.. Cc Gazzuzz et al.

I want to revive my honda halla that has been parked for close to 5 years cuz of its transmission issues. When the gear started acting funny, my mechanic said I should buy another one which I did. He fixed it and put abro fluid(not knowing abro is a killer fluid for Honda gear). The Kazeem even encouraged me not to use another ATF other than Abro. My car only became normal for a period of 2 months and the gear started acting weird again. When I called him, he said I needed to change the gear again so I had to park the car since then (2012) as I have access to some other cars. I'm now trying to bring it back to life so I called another mechanic 6 days ago. He tried starting it but the engine didn't come up. He checked the fuel pump and washed the tank as the petrol inside it has "expired"(that's the grammar he used). We
fixed the tank 2 days ago, fuelled it and replaced all the nozzles and the car got ignited. The engine is working normally but the transmission issue still remain which I need your advise on how to normalise it. Below are the symptoms I noticed before parking the car 5 years ago:

1. It takes the car approximately 7-10 mins to move after shifting the gear stick to D

2. The car runs great only on a level road. It retards and come to a halt whenever there's any elevation on the road. It couldn't climb hills or go further whenever the road is getting higher. It became so embarrassing that I would have to park for some times before I would be able to go further.

A friend said the mechanic should wash the gear sensors and change the gearbox but I want to be prudent in my spending.

Please what do I do?

Replace gear. Good luck finding 1 that is less than 300,000miles convert car to manual if you want to enjoy it, finding a functional transmission will be a herculean task.
