The engine I bought about 2 weeks ago has been a torn on my flesh. It runs fine o but swallowing oil any how like the previous engine I changed. I was managing it until the car stopped me on the road after I noticed it was making noise. Mechanic confirmed it was chain issue but that I could manage it until I decide to get it fixed. Now the car got a lot of things damaged when the engine was opened. The engine itself was ringed but not properly fixed the reason for oil shortage. The two times I changed oil, after 2 days, oil became so dark. Note I spent more than #200000 changing the car engine. 2 days ago, I gave #30,500 for parts including rings. Yesterday the chain roller was shown to me that has to be changed because of crack. Hopefully after grinding the top today, the car can be kick started.
Lesson: Since ZZ corolla engines below 2005 models have oil shortage issues after 120000 millage, be careful unless you want to change rings. Before buying engines, make sure you verify because most of the sellers are terrible without the fear of God. Immediately money enters their hands, story changes. Before you buy a car, google it so that you get basic information about it from previous users. Thanks.

My husband has a Carina e XLI. Served for years and ha gone for even up to a year without a need for the mechanic but its parked now.

Started jerking and we tried several solution without success. The mechs or electrician will just come an assure that its a small thing, collect money an daftwr repairing, the car would still jerk. He bought new spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter, changed a working fuel pump, and injector nozzles still no change. I would just start jerking especially when the car ha warmed. I know it has o do with with how the can deals with temperator anndhence an electrical fault but that's as far as my mech orientation would take me.

Have you experienced this before o know anyone with solution in Lagos? He's not a nairalander els I'd have told him to create a thread. Thankss

thanks a bunch.took a look around it and discovered the fuse was blown.had it changed and the engine started.thanks to everyone that gave a cluę.

it will blow again. Fuses only burn when they have exceeded their rated capacity. Find the source of the problem, look for exposed wires touching them selves or touching the body of the engine. I'm never satisfied with "oh it was a blown fuse" it never works for me, and always turns back to bite me in the arse

No one knows. I was made to understand that she went to gwagwalada(hottest part of Abuja in terms of weather) and the car overheated mid way on her way back to town.
The radiator fan(single cell) revolves well as confirmed by the mechanic but he recommended a double cell radiator fan from his estimates though.
She said the car does not bring out any white smoke and that there are no leaks/shortages of coolant or engine oil.
She has also been driving the car after the incident and it has not overheated again.

I noticed this evening while driving home that my car's RPM suddenly shots up to about 4000 rpm,I was traveling at a speed of between 80 and 100km per hour. The car is a Toyota highlander 2003 with six plugs.

Is this normal/okay?

Would you advise that I keep driving it in this condition?

What could be the possible cause of this?

I think somebody wants to ripe off my niece with this outrageous prices of parts. Her car a Toyota Yaris 2008 model overheated two days ago and I adviced her to take it to a good car mechanic with diagnostic tool to ascertain the root a cause of the problem. She did that today and the mechanic after scanning(though did not tell/write the code)her car gave her this bill of estimates as things to be replaced.
Am not a Toyota user but I think this bill is way overboard. And why recommend changing of valve seals, top gasket and refacing of cylinder head at a go when that was the first time the car overheated.
