BusinessRe: The Dishonesty And Fraudulence Of My Bank by gbame(m): 8:58am On May 25
I honestly do not see any serious issue here since the total debit balance is not up to ₦1,000.00. You can simply credit one of the accounts with ₦900.00 or ₦1,000.00 and then write to them, instructing them to debit that account and use the funds to clear all the accounts currently in debit. After that, request that they close ALL the accounts and send you confirmation once the closures have been completed. Alternatively, if you do not wish to go through that process, you can simply ignore their emails by redirecting them to your Spam or Trash folder so you no longer have to see them.

Nnamdipapa:
I Regretted Travelling and Training My Children Abroad

When I look back now, sometimes I just sit and sigh deeply. If someone had told me that travelling abroad would come with this kind of hidden price, I would have argued. My name is Tunde, a married man from Nigeria, and this is my truth.

When we first landed in the UK, everything looked perfect, the neat streets, the calm weather, the polite smiles. My wife and I believed we had finally arrived at the “promised land.” I remember saying, “Omo, we don make am!” But we didn’t know that survival here isn’t about how fast you run, it’s about how long you can endure.

At first, we struggled to get decent accommodation, landlords wanted proof of income, and jobs weren’t easy to come by without “UK experience.” My wife, a graduate back home, started working as a cleaner in a care home. I, too, joined the hustle , doing night shifts in warehouses, sometimes two jobs at once. Sleep became a luxury. We smiled in pictures for family back home, but behind those smiles were swollen feet and endless bills.

Then came the children, our pride and joy. We were determined to give them the best. We worked so hard just to keep them in good schools. But with time, something changed. The same children we sacrificed everything for started drifting away. The values we grew up with in Nigeria which is respect, community, humility which began to fade in their own lives. They questioned every correction. “Daddy, you can’t talk to me like that, it’s abuse.” “Mummy, this is my right.”

We couldn’t even discipline them without fear. Teachers, social workers, and school authorities were quick to interfere. Back home, it takes a village to raise a child; here, it takes caution not to lose your child to the system. Our weekends were no longer for family bonding, my wife had back-to-back shifts, and I was constantly calculating bills: rent, council tax, electricity, food, transportation… everything had a price tag. The “soft life” we imagined abroad turned out to be an endless cycle of work and worry.

Now, sometimes when I talk to my friends back home who envy me, I just shake my head. They see the pictures, not the pressure. They see the pounds, not the pain.
If I’m being honest, there are nights I lie awake and whisper to myself, “Did I really make the right decision?” I wanted a better future for my children but in chasing that dream, I lost parts of myself, my culture, and sometimes, even my peace.
Don’t get me wrong, the UK gave me exposure, structure, and some comfort. But it also took something from me, something I may never get back.

If I could go back in time, maybe… just maybe… I would have stayed in Nigeria, built gradually, and raised my children close to our roots.
This isn’t to discourage anyone. It’s just a reminder that abroad is not heaven, it’s another battlefield.
Sometimes, when you think you’re running toward a dream, you might just be running away from peace.

It is what it is.

CareerRe: Does Annual Leave Days Include Weekend? by gbame(m): 12:43pm On Jan 24, 2024
ImpactBooks:
Dear NLs, please I need your guidance on this issue. I am on the verge of applying for my first annual leave with my present employer. But the information I have gathered from my colleagues at work have it that the company usually count weekends as part of the annual leave days.

Note that in my employment letter, it was only started at I shall be entitled to 28 annual leave days and also that the company usually work Monday - Friday.

Is it right for the company to count weekend as part of my annual leave days? And what does the Nigeria Labour Law says about this?

Thank you all for your anticipated guidance
You will have to get that information from your staff Handbook. It will be stated there. All organisations are not the same. What applies in Company may not apply in Company B. So my advice is for you to refer to Staff Handbook
FamilyRe: How Can I Help My Son Unlearn This by gbame(m): 3:24pm On Sep 04, 2023
Iyaebube:
It started last two Sunday at the children's department. They were taught covering of the body as a child of God and ever since that day, my son has not remain the same again on his way of reasoning. My husband n I was all joking about it but it's getting out of hand the way my son is going about it

What he does now is he doesn't allow us especially me to wear skimpy wear at home anymore.whenever I put it on he will be shouting mummy cover your "private part" even my last baby that's not up to 2 was playing with the sleeveless top she was wearing the chest was showing immediately my son started shouting baby cover your private part. The private part he use to shout instead of another word cover your body provoked me to flog him to stop using that word cos he's just 4.

The incident that happened yesterday made us speechless was my family n I went to have a nice time because since that last two Sunday my son haven't stepped out of the house. We decided to have fun yesterday only for my son to screaming mummy see this one she or he is showing there private part. It brought alot of attention to us that we quickly ended what we came out to do.

How do I handle this issue to clear it off his head cos I have spoken n spanked him to stop but this is what he refused to stop saying n is embarrassing. Of all they where thought in Sunday school, why did he chose this one to practically implement?
It's important to address this issue with patience and understanding. Your son seems to have taken the lesson from Sunday school very seriously. Instead of spanking, try having a calm conversation with him. Explain that while the lesson is important, he needs to understand appropriate contexts. Encourage him to ask questions about what he's learning, and provide guidance on when and how to apply it. Additionally, offer positive reinforcement when he demonstrates understanding and maturity in this area.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: How I Narrowly Escaped Being Duped With A Fake Transaction From A Known Customer by gbame(m): 2:50pm On Jul 12, 2023

Who do you expect to read this epistle?

Add paragraphs to your post for God's sake.

Please 🙏
The writer was preparing jollof rice for a customer when another customer came in to buy drinks. The second customer claimed to have transferred money to the writer's account, but the writer was suspicious because the transfer did not show up in their account. The second customer then tried to use the writer's ATM card to pay, but the card was declined. The writer refused to give the drinks to the second customer until they paid in cash.

The writer's colleague then came into the shop and saw the writer shaking. The colleague was told what had happened, and they both went to the second customer's shop to confront her. The second customer denied trying to scam the writer, but the colleague refused to believe her. The colleague then told the second customer that she would not sell to her anymore.

The writer is warning people to be careful of fake transfers. They say that if a transfer does not show up in your account immediately, it is probably fake. They also say that you should never give someone your ATM card to pay for something.

Maybe he is not homeless after all then. We might have been misled. This is not a homeless child. The arrangements must have been sanctioned by his parents since there was no public outcry of a kidnap.

My wife got pregnant again even with an IUD. We werent planning for it. As these babies are so small and require so much care already.

Its not like raising them in the village. We live abroad and we dont get help. It means we always have to be with them if not for daycare but then we are working. We are already so tired.

I dont know if I am venting or asking for advice. We are grateful but we are so tired already... what to do...?
It should have been "I impregnated my wife". Keep the baby and start other birth control methods like withdrawal method

This is a sad one. You did the right thing though. I would have done the same thing your hubby did. Though, I may keep the kids if you allow me. That being said. From your description of your hubby, he may not marry again and he may not accept you again. Just be prayerful. There is nothing difficult for God. He is your only hope. People have done worse and there is reconciliation. Devote your time to penance and God. Give your hubby time to heal. He may remain that way. I will advise that you call your mother and brief her what has happened before your husband gets to them. Also, don't go with him to the village.
