fluteman: U still don't get it, do you?.....our mentality is different from urs, u will never be able to divide Yorubas with religion.

Yorubas can kill each other over territory, land and politics, but not on religion ( hope you finally realise this).moreover, touts and thugs abound in every region. I served in Anambra, and I've never felt so insecure like I did in Onitsha, with ibo thugs snatching things in full glare and in the open. The north has its multitude of street urchins, ever ready to pounce in any upheaval.

The only thing that can bring out the beast in the southwest is politics and territory, and I hope igbos stay out of it in thier own interest
Don't mind the ignoramus. We know they are obsessed with SW issue but it would be sensible if they refrain from passing comments over what they know zilch about. The politics of Lagos and the SW is never about religious affiliation or enmity. It is about camps and loyalty. Christians and Moslems thug fight alongside each other to kill and maim others in opposition camps whatever their religion. The usual nitwits who always speak ignorantly and obsessively about SW issues should learn to mind their business.

I don't know about or care for the dynamics of political thuggery in the SE and I certainly will not be offering prejudiced and religiously discriminatory opinion over that issue that does not concern me. GEJ has done it again. He has put Koro in a position where the 'Alaye' of thugs now has an important office to take the fight to others in the desperation of the PDP to capture Lagos. It will be bloody because the hawks in the APC know that 'turning the other cheek' has never worked against the PDP which thrives on intimidation and will only retreat if met fire for fire. Those who are about money and trading alone, and thus cannot understand the passion politics generates in the SW, should know their place and mind their business. Koro will be finished over this. He is finally going too far and leaving himself no path back if his 'Mafia Don' (GEJ) fails.

APC Says Musiliu Obanikoro’s Touts Killed Its Member, Alhaji Azeez Ashake On Saturday After TAN Rally

At least three people lost their lives on Lagos Island on Saturday and Sunday after members of the All Progressives Congress and members of the Peoples Democratic Party clashed.
According to PUNCH, the trouble started immediately after President Goodluck Jonathan and other PDP national leaders ended a rally at the Tafawa Balewa Square on Saturday.
It was learnt that some boys known as the Abija group, attacked and killed a chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Alhaji Azeez Asake.
Two of the assailants identified as Olokodana and Ade Lawyer were said to have led the attack on the deceased.
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressive Congress said Olokodana and Ade Lawyer were supporters of the Minister of State for Defence, Mr. Musiliu Obanikoro.
The APC in a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Mr. Joe Igbokwe, said Obanikoro’s boys also killed one Wasiu Lawal in Ajah last week.
He said, “After the PDP South-West rally in Lagos on Saturday, one Alhaji Azeez Asake of the APC was shot and killed by the notorious Abija group led by one Olokodana and Ade Lawyer loyal to Senator Musliu Obanikoro; a junior minister in the Ministry of Defence.”
“Two weeks ago the same murderous group shot and killed one Wasiu Lawal in Ajah where APC members hold their weekly meetings. The police in Ajah are still investigating the crime but no arrest has been made. On Saturday’s shootings, we have yet to hear that an arrest has been made to bring the murderers to justice.”
The APC warned that if security agencies did nothing about Obanikoro’s behaviour, it would allow its own members to defend themselves.
On Sunday afternoon, however, two PDP youths were allegedly killed by APC youths in Ebute Ero in retaliation of Asake’s murder.

It was learnt that it took a combined team of policemen from several formations to restore peace in the area.
All attempts to reach Obanikoro proved abortive as he was said to have travelled out of the country. Similarly, his media aide, Godwin Ohimai, could not be reached on phone.
However, an aide to Obanikoro, who spoke to our correspondent on the condition of anonymity, denied the former senator’s involvement in the alleged crime.
He said Obanikoro could not be held responsible for the various groups that converged on the venue.
He said, “We heard about the incident but we don’t want to be associated with such. It has nothing to do with us. The killing was as a result of a disagreement between those involved and it will be unfair to blame Obanikoro.
“The truth is that because Obanikoro is from Lagos Island, everybody there likes to associate with him but he knows nothing about this incident.”
The Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, confirmed the killings to our correspondent on the telephone.
“About three people were killed after a clash but the area is now calm. However, investigations are ongoing while policemen are patrolling the affected areas,” she said.

barcanista: Chief Gbawe, some of us that criticize Atiku is not because we HATE Alhaji Atiku but because we find it spiteful that despite the allegations against him, he still wants to occupy the Highest Office. Remember he is a part of the Present System and as VP, he held sensitive positions for 8 solid years.
Bro, I am no fan of Atiku either and would be terribly disappointed if he clinched the APC ticket. Yet, as true democrats, we have to concede Atiku has the right to contest for public office if he is not legally disqualified from doing so. Personally, I think APC suppporters do not need to worry about Atiku. It is likely to be a straight fight between Kwankwaso and Buhari so I will not waste precious time focusing on what Atiku is doing.

sweetgala: You are inept, so a citizen of the country has no liberty to attend a Q&A campaign session of a man vying for the presidency of Nigeria, without accusations of financial manipulation!

And then you made the statement about osun state , and shamed yourself irreparably.
Let me make it clear to you Omisore is extended family and most of my family did not vote for him.

He is bad news and that was glaring, that he won a single vote is a blight on the Ife people.
Thank you. I don't even get how some Nigerians can act like ALUU savages so proudly and openly. I am no fan of Atiku but he has the right to pursue his ambition and indeed campaign and engage the public to that end. When Nigerian youths never get involved productively and only believe in remaining online to hurl insults at leaders , when such is unfair and not needed, is it a wonder old boys like Atiku, Buhari, Tinubu et al continue to feel they have a part to play?

Even look at the hypocritical and undemocratic leaning of some who support GEJ, the most sycophantically supported President in the world, trying to shout down and muzzle Atiku? We have unemployed, hungry and frustrated youths pretending to be "transformation ambassadors of Nigeria" while 8,000 'food is ready' congregation pretend to be groups working for "bringingbackGoolduck" on merit when honest people throughout the entire world agree GEJ is a hugely failed leader who deserves to be booted out and banned from public office for life.

Nigeria is just currently a mess where people do not even think about their own situation before hypocritically lashing out at others. People can hate Atiku all they want yet how is he less entitled to aspire to political office than the convicted criminal Alamayeisegha our President pardoned all with the intention of 'rehabilitating' the felon and planting him in the national assembly as a Senator? Warped nation full of people with hypocritical and warped values.

It is a story that will shock you. Her group was given 5million naira to support their sycophancy in my LCDA.
I will snap and post picture of th tag she was given to prove it when she's back from work later today.
Nothing shocks me with GEJ. He has been bribing everything that moves with Nigeria's money and public offices, from day one, to gain support and "endorsement". That is his 'style' and if Nigeria becomes completely maladministrated and bankrupt then so be it as far as our desperado President is concerned. I just find this attack against Atiku a nauseating example of the double-standards and cowardice of Nigerian youths.

The real 'oles' and 'barawos' making $20 billion disappear into thin air, abetting a fuel subsidy scam that was the biggest in Nigeria's history and assisting the looting of $18 billion disbursed to fight the Boko boys they will support maniacally only to round on Tinubu, Atiku et al. Rancid hypocrisy that stinks to high heaven.

Surely you must appreciate that once you "expose" me I will be of no further use to them? You said that we are openly biased with dictatorial tendencies and that struck me as false information. However, I can see from the allegations in this thread that you didn't consider the information to be false when you posted it. You truly believe that. Therefore Gbawe is unbanned.
Thanks for unbanning my main user ID here. Nonetheless Seun, you know we are not in a Court of law. I stated an opinion based on observation of the occurrences on the forum. By saying that amounted to "false information", I can only assume you have acted as judge and jury when indeed this thread, and even your own admission relating to "partisan Mods", is proof that some Mods do behave in a biased manner as I claimed originally. Anyway, don't sweat it bro. We are cool. I just come here to chat and bang a few PDP heads together and not to get involved in 'office politics'. Seun and the 'gang' he uses to oversee the politics sector are openly biased with dictatorial tendencies. Only OAM4J is decent and I get the impression he is likely overwhelmed. Jarus left because of the biased antics of Seun. I have, because I own businesses also and know how difficult it is to please everyone, always tried to give Seun the benefit of the doubt and not join those calling him out for partisanship regularly.

Yet this latest development is disgusting and a step too far in open and brazen discrimination. Why make a thread about the debt of Lagos a sticky for almost a week , as if attempting to force negativity about Lagos and the opposition Party in charge of it down the throat of Nigerians, yet dismiss a thread seeking to redress the balance by showing what Lagos has done with all funds gained from IGR, sundry income, Federal allocations and loans?

@Seun. You should grow up and stop embarrassing yourself. Nairaland is your business and, if a sensible and pragmatically mature boss, you would try and use basic business common sense to keep every stakeholder happy. This sort of abuse of power and open discrimination , where you show that you have taken sides and are willing to us the politics sections prejudicially to aid your corner, should not be happening if you know what matters.

How did a pictorial thread on the political development of Lagos, encompassing so many delivered projects uplifting the socio-economic development of the State and directly countering the assertion "Lagos owes massively with nothing to show in return", end up in the travel section of all places ? Yet a thread about what Lagos owes, which could arguably belong in other sections, is made almost a week-long sticky in the politics section? Could openly sectional bias be more brazen?

@OP.

Stop putting Nigerian leaders on the spot childishly regarding what they have no control over !!! The problem is that many of you never try and walk in the shoes of others before you make your biased conclusions and then go public with such. Are you a parent? Do you know how, for a good and modern parents, it is about letting children have the freedom to choose their own employment/career path? Should all our leaders dictatorially force their children into the Army to demonstrate to people like you, who fail to separate leaders from the choice their adult children are free to make, that they are committed to Nigeria? When you become a parent get back to me. Before then, I suggest you stop talking about what you know zilch about.

You should have kids and promptly enrol them in the army, even before their birth certificate is printed, to show you are the most patriotic Nigerian on Earth. I can tell you now that, in today's world, the free choice of your kids, when they become adults entitled to decide their own path in life, will defeat you.

BRITISH PRIME MINISTER COMMENDS FASHOLA'S TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP
Posted on: 2011-07-20 12:51:07

“Governor Fashola has shown what strong and accountable governance can achieve”, he says
Visiting British Prime Minister, Mr. David Cameron, Tuesday praised the transformational leadership being provided by Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), declaring that the Governor has shown the immense possibilities of a strong and accountable administration.

The Prime Minister, who was Guest Speaker at the Pan African University , Ajah, Lagos , said Governor Fashola has demonstrated that true democracy and accountable leadership is possible in the Continent. Delivering a speech titled “Aid, Trade and Democracy”, Cameron declared, ”Here in Lagos , Governor Fashola has shown what strong and accountable governance can achieve”, adding that his visit has made it possible to give a personal testimony.

“What I have seen in London , I have seen a hundred fold here today. From Eko Atlantic City and Balogun Street Market to the biggest part in the most populous country in Africa, you are transforming your State”, the Prime Minister told Governor Fashola
, drawing an ovation from the audience comprising of intellectuals, businessmen from the United Kingdom and Nigeria as well as Alumni and students of the Lagoas Business School.

Urging African leaders to seize the existing opportunities for trade and growth in Africa to raise the living standards and lift millions of their people from poverty, the British Prime Minister said with what he has seen in Lagos, the unfolding stories of rapid increase in democracies, fast-growing economies and predicted growth in Gross Domestic Product in Africa was indeed sustainable.

Sincere9gerian: Good. But can these projects put together worth more than N200 to N300 billion without contract inflation?

For the mischief makers who are in the habit of comparing state and federal govt, they should note that the Lagos-Ibadan road alone, which is a single FG project, is worth N167 billion.

Meanwhile, Fashola has received on the average over N400 billion annually in the last 7 years.

Where are the Lagos state govt mega projects- light rail, Lekki Airport, 4th Mainland Bridge, etc?

What percentage of the state/local govt roads in Lagos has been made motorable after 15 years of Tinubu's party rule?

What percentage of Lagosians now have portable water in their homes?

By how much has the healthcare centres built so far improved healthcare, reduced childhood and maternal mortality, etc?

Since the law is no longer an obstacle, how many megawatts of power plants, transformers etc has the state govt built or provided to boost power supply to the homes and offices of Lagosians?

How many public basic schools do we have in Lagos and how many have been rebuilt in 15 years?

The above legitimate questions should be answered so as to add flesh or give meaning to the pictures shown on this thread.

Note: I did not abuse, curse or attack anyone

Precisely. This thread should be made a 'sticky' too since it is produces direct dismissal of the politically-driven lie that "Lagos owes a lot with nothing to show for it". Yet I doubt this thread will even make front page let alone be 'stickied' above every other topic in the political section for a few days as was done for the Lagos debt thread. Bros, let us simply keep contributing to this thread and keeping it visible so that enemies of progress and haters are shamed. You must be out of your mind. There is ample evidence on ground, more than anywhere else in Nigeria, to "show for it". If bigoted 'amebos', putting their nose where it does not belong, choose not to see the giant stride the entire world sees and acknowledge then don't deem it "ethnic bashing" when exasperated true Lagosians and South-Westerners speak against the "nothing to show" dishonesty postulated mainly by Nairalanders from the SE. Do SE folks care about the SW that much? Is it a coincidence that Hausa, Fulani and even most SS folks are indifferent to the affairs of the SW, as it should be and perhaps because they are minding their own business and problems, while it is SE folks who carry SW matter on their head negatively and malevolently? Guy, face your front abeg. You are simply another dishonest fellow.

This is the truth. Being insularly dedicated to your own affairs and socio-economic progress is a very good thing. It is that way worldwide. Yorubas are content to mind their own business and that is the way it should be because citizens, especially for a Nation like Nigeria, need to hold their own direct leaders accountable. Many Igbo posters here have no interest in doing this and instead aberrantly focus all their 24/7 attention on the leaders/affair of SW States.

Sad really to see many Igbos on Nairaland bitterly obsessed about the affairs of the Yorubas. Majority of them simply wish to provoke a reaction from Yoruba folks but the truth is that most Yorubas wish them well and are "not really bothered about what goes on in their end".
