nairalad: How can a Commander in Chief spew this trash?Thank you !! If you say the man should go some people will start spewing crap and playing the ethnic card while threatening all Nigerians as if the man is not President to all of us. Ask them to give a coherent argument why the man should stay they will begin offering platitudes, rhetoric and bogus 'achievements'. Meanwhile an intelligent person will tell you GEJ is the wrong President for buying 3 planes at $151 million to add to 7 and make a Presidential air fleet of 10 !!! Nigeria then pays N11 billion yearly to maintain this hideous waste no sane person can justify especially in light of the acute poverty many Nigerians live under !!!! Analysts have even provided a list of the numerous massive improvement the N11 billion PAF maintenance bill can do for Nigerians in housing, health, education etc !!!!! Yet some deluded clowns will be yapping "GEJ till 2019" while all sane folks see is backward leadership that is an embarrassment even by African standard these days!!!! While our President is needlessly and profligately buying 3 planes to add to 10, the Malawian President sold the only Plane in the Presidential fleet plus loads of Mercedes in the Presidential motorcade to "alleviate poverty". That is a decent person, a suitable President and a solution provider!!!! I can give 10 examples of the actions and inactions of GEJ that has directly worsened the woes of the nation !!!!Yet as simple as this arguments are to assimilate you will still have some backward cretins coming here to tell us we only criticize GEJ because we hate Ijaw folks and such nauseating garbage !!!! Some really backward folks call themselves Nigerians and these abject followers are a big part of the reason we have not moved forward as we should. |
Pukkah: South Westerners did not play the tribal card when Obasanjo was been lampooned and the Northerners did not become tribalistic when people lambasted Yar'adua. When you rush forward with a tribal card to defend Jonathan, you are actually making him appear weak, pitiful and unpresidential. Leave him. Defend him with facts only. Realize that uneasy lies the head that wears the crown. If he governs well, it is for the benefit of all, the reverse is also true. That is the crux of the matter but don't expect this prejudiced and ethnocentric individual to understand what you are saying. See how he even alludes to your "comrades", as in fellow Yorubas, because it is always about playing the ethnic card for them. These sort are just bigotry and clannishness personified. They have totally and nauseatingly ethnicised the Presidency of GEJ whereas no such thing existed under OBJ and Yar Adua who were heavily and mercilessly criticized also. The proven actions and inactions of GEJ that has worsened things for Nigeria are not something any of us made up yet some will begin talking of Lagos/Yoruba media when he is rightly criticized for that. Was it the Yorubas who forced GEJ to shamelessly bin the recommendations of the Ribadu petroleum task force and then unleash Okupe and co on a vindictive mission to denigrate Ribadu? Did GEJ not set up the Danjuma-led PAC? I.e Presidential advisory committee? What did GEJ do when that committee asked GEJ, as a matter of urgency, to cut waste, bloated governance and profligacy? He disbanded the committee and announced glibly to the world that "leaner Government not possible" !!!! Those are the sort of things, too many to list, that gets GEJ criticized by myself and others !!! Nothing at all to do with ethnicity. Yet it is a damn shame that, day in day out, some will still never gain the reasonable mind to note that no lies are told against GEJ. He has actually worsened things for Nigeria with his actions and inaction. All the talks of previous President and previous problems are the same bullcrap jingoist hide behind to validate their clannish support of GEJ. Holding leaders to account is actually very easy for a sophisticated polity. For example, if you asked sensible folks from a sensible Country what their President has done to cut bloated governance they should be able to say such without equivocation. They should be able to point to cuts, reduced waste and a leaner, more efficient ways with which things are being done !!! Ask Nigerians the same. A critic of government will rightly point to GEJ buying 3 planes at a cost of $151 million to add to a fleet of 7. Many will note that corruption is hideous under GEJ who is running "a scam a day" Government !!!! They will reason correctly that the crazy decision to hand pipeline protection contracts to former militants is the reason oil theft is now at an all time high !!!! They will tell you GEJ can never claim ignorance of the fuel subsidy scam since it is the FG and NNPC that issued fuel marketers licence to the scammers in the first place !!! They will highlight that the NNPC is unreformed and still the worthlessly corrupt and inefficient parastatal costing Nigeria a fortune. Folks will factually point to the lack of cost-cutting anywhere and show that there is no difference at all to the hideous profligacy and bloated governance that has always existed. Etc, etc, etc, etc !!!! In short things are worse because GEJ has not tried to do anything differently to how things have been done previously to get Nigeria where she is today !!! What do these critics then get for that truthful take on affairs? You guessed it. Accusations of "Yoruba/Hausa/Fulani haters". Absolutely sick to death of these people and I actually regret sharing a nation with such backward folks who are always sentimental and perpetually unable to confront facts. |
icon aus: You cant stand the truth . It is simple truth .OBJ was in power at a time when other African countries like Ghana and botswana were transforming their various countries and What did OBJ acheived ? Nothing complete nothing and you people did not say anything because he is one of you. Obj ruled for 8 yrs with out basic amenities like water, electricity, good roads, hospitals in short every thing and you people have mouth to castigate GEJ .Id1ot, whatever is wrong with condemning OBJ and GEJ together, as unfit leaders, if that needs to be done? Were Yorubas not the biggest critics of OBJ? Yet it is always ethnic jingoist like you who will begin mentioning OBJ, Tinubu, Fashola and every Yoruba man when the failures and shortcomings of GEJ are being highlighted !!!! You guys are nothing but disgraceful. Can a bad leader, wherever he is from, not just be called that without you 'throwbacks' muddying the water with bigotry and prejudice? Are the documented misrule of GEJ lies? What makes me personally irate about you morally compromised tw1ts is the fact that prejudice and hatred of others has totally compromised your moral compass. You cannot even see wrong or right and remain ready to blindly support what is wrong because such comes from your kinsmen and women. Shame on you. I just pity your children because I don't know what morally compromised and debased individuals like you have to teach them other than the same prejudice that has gotten you to where you are today. |
icon aus: Face the fact the North and the SW introduced tribalism in Nigeria even before independence till date . The same tribalism is not allowing them to give GEJ a chance because he is from the south South . The emergence of GEJ has exposed some tribes . Lets see how these North / SW will win election without the SE/SS/NC block votes . This is the dawn of a new era . Is good that other minorities are begining to understand the nigerian politics where the North and SW have marginalised other regions for longed and siphoned our resources with nothing to show for their many years in power . The SE had known this for long and had been alone .Thank God for GEJ administration which brought this in to lime light . GEJ did not bring tribalism instead regions who champion tribalism are fighting him because they cannot stand any body outside of the two regions to occupy that highest position - presidency. You are a stupid and self-delusional clown. The future, as it will inevitably play out, will expose the myopia of hateful people like you who blame others for everything yet have no capacity to confront their own plentiful inadequacies. |
ITbomb: The President is making sense ,Shut da f*ck up and get the hell out of here !!! Which Yoruba pen warrior advised GEJ to hand pipeline protection contracts to glorified oil bunkerers from his region to the extent oil theft is now at a record high while those supervising the theft tell us they are conducting "resource control"? Which Yorubas made GEJ the supervisor of the biggest fuel subsidy scam in the history of Nigeria? Has your prejudice against the Yorubas made you to ignore the fact that the NNPC (under Allison-Madueke) and the FG (under GEJ) are the only authorities that can issue fuel marketers licence? How did those licence end up in the hands of scammers who had no business operating as fuel importers? Is that the fault of Yorubas too? Show us the Yorubas forcing GEJ to abide with and promote profligacy and bloated governance !!!! Tribalism against the Yorubas will kill mumus like you. When they bring a misruler in, and regardless of how bad he/she is, people like you will always be there to support such a person myopically as long as you foolishly assume he/she is frustrating Yorubas and "Abokis". You will then blind yourselves to the hideous looting, misrule and corruption of those characters. Shame on you worthless throwbacks. You people are simply horridly prejudiced cavemen. Stop your hateful talk of Yoruba this and that, face what matters morally, and admit what is right and wrong as normal people are able to do worldwide. Aberrant and clannish tw1t. |
paker002: dem dey talk nigeria dis one dey talk lekki..... you see your sefDont mind the ethnocentric and bigoted clown. It is clowns like him, because they introduce ethnicity into everything, who will ensure Nigeria continue to host ludicrous jokers and mediocrities as President while others are making progress and moving forward rapidly. |

agbameta: This is what you get when clowns run for office but have zero undersstanding regarding their duties and job description.Balarabe Musa said it well when he noted that, in serious Nations, there is a standard no one should be allowed to go below in consideration to who occupies the position of President/head of State. Aberrant Nigeria not only has to be different, in regards to what Musa said, but she must also host ethnocentric and clannish characters totally blind to what amounts to simple issues of supporting what is right and denouncing what is wrong. Do some people even open their eyes to the many proffered solutions, capable of transforming Nigeria radically, Jonathan rejects outright? Yet they will rush to clannishly celebrate his mundane and facetious effort as if there is one single leader in the world who does not have one good thing to his name. I am sick of Nigeria. Let us all clamour for regionalism so that some, when in full control of their region, can bypass the likes of Donald Duke and Utomi to make GEJ and Uduaghan their Prime Minister. |
Kamanda: The is the perfect president for a people like Nigerians.100% correct. |
Jonathan is such a dishonest and amoral individual. I am thoroughly ashamed he is my President in this day and age when the African nations we Nigerians love to look down upon are now parading individuals who know how to think, act, talk and deliver solutions. This is the President who sets up many, many "fact-finding" committees daily and expensively only to then become the same individual undermining them and totally ignoring the solutions they offer borne of painstaking research and effort. That alone is enough to show serious-minded Nigerians that this man is not here to provide solutions. He is just another corrupt gradualist, like many others Nigeria has been cursed with, happy to offer platitudes and rhetoric till his own looting 'turn' is over. |
ngozievergreen: Y are u angry?Shut up you frustrated and sad hag. You think I do not know the ultra-prejudiced antecedent of the OP? Enough of the malevolent extrovert behaviour of you and the OP. You guys should leave Yoruba people alone because you are never truthful about them. All you do is lie against them and disregard all the good and exemplary things they stand for. You, the OP and others like him represent us as the worst things under the Sun yet you can never leave us alone or stay away from us !!! The OP is a repellent character who is only supported by bigots like you because of what Nigeria is. Go and check my reply to his "Igbos are ambitious" and "Yorubas are fearful" garbage to understand you, him and others like you are simply deluded. Even if your parents and community deceive you so badly, do you fools not live in the real world to note the inanity of the crap you chat against others? Yorubas are "fearful" and "lazy" indeed. Deluded and hateful clowns. |
Olamagnifico: Nobody ask him to list igbo faults... We don't want your praise nor your insult... Just live YORUBAS ALONE...Thank you. |
Delafruita: i am certain as i am sure you are that WS will not willingly refrain from trying to make our country better.it is we the people who have forced people like him into their enclave.i even read on a thread on this forum where one ignorant toad claimed without any evidence as usual that WS was on the payroll of the rivers state government.one other idiot made it a point to disparage the man in as many ways as possible.if we as young folks decide to deride and debase our seemingly indefatigueable icons on the altar of ethnicity, religion and political affiliations, its not impossible for our icons to show that they are just as human as we are and are as prone to fatigue as all of us.we have ridiculed Pastor Bakare, insulted WS,called Falana all sorts of names.even now, some still make asinine remarks as regards Gani fawehinmi.it should be noted that activism isnt limited to the southwest though it cannot be argued that the southwest has been and is still at the forefront of the fight for a better country. It is not a choice any genuinely patriotic Nigerian takes willingly. It is one that such folks are forced to embrace because of the attitude and conduct of others. As you stated, the likes of Soyinka, as valiant as they may be, are only human too. They have emotions like the rest of us. The man does not deserve the insult that has being heaped on him by many who are not decent human beings or even fit to wipe his shoes. I back Soyinka's dignified withdrawal from activism fully and hope he stays that way regardless of the problem Nigeria heads into. Let others pick up the mantle or Nigeria can simply burn. Some would say it would be poetic justice if such happened considering how a lot of Nigerians are ingrates who do not value what they have and would rather destroy it on the alter of bigotry, discrimination and nauseating prejudice. |
Delafruita: i cannot bear the insults that have been pelted at a person of such iconic value and if i cannot bear it,i can only wonder what WS must be thinking.a man can only take so much and WS has taken far more than his fair shareSame here. I now wish Soyinka, Falana, Bakare et al become and stay more pragmatic. Nigeria is an ethnocentric orphan everyone has rejected and only profess hollow love for. Let everyone stand up and fight for their corner as at when there is a need for such. Yorubas should stop their activism for Nigeria because we have now seen, with many events of late, such is misplaced and propagated on behalf of treacherous ingrates. It is like a man being in love with a woman who never intends to reciprocate his love. How long, if the man is wise, before that individual seeks a separation so he can give his love to someone who will appreciate him and return his love and dedication fully? Abeg, Uncle Wole should stay retired and devote himself to things that make his soul happy instead of rising above the filthy parapet that is Nigeria, in defence of all Nigerians, to be insulted by every cretinous ingrates and bigots that most serious nations would reject because of their abject worthlessness to nation-building. |
luvmijeje: Even at that, I still don't want to believe because of the insults, he refuse to speak up.Soyinka had already stated that he was "tired" a while back. It is events of late, a lot of it with an ethnocentric bent, that broke the old man's heart. Believe me when I tell you that. Dear lady, do not be disappointed you do not hear from Soyinka. Let it go and start thinking differently. I used to think like you too yet now concede that the Yorubas are more than allowed to develop compassion fatigue given what the rest of Nigeria is currently. Our naivete may be our undoing . Let us all begin to clamour for regionalism so that we then all have the official power to ask everyone to mind their business and domain since, as is clear to the world, we collectively do not seem to have the capacity to respect each other and many Nigerians wish to see everything through ethnic lenses always. Should Soyinka not be respected beyond ethnicity given that he has always stood to be counted for all Nigerians? Was he persecuted and incarcerated because he fought for Yorubas alone? Ask yourself who are those who, as ingrates personified, insult and belittle him and are even doing same on this thread because ethnic hatred of others is something they simply cannot rise above? Put yourself in Soyinka's shoes and it should be clear to you that the old man has tried massively beyond the capacity and will of most mortals. The Patience Jonathan saga was the last straw that broke the Camel's back. You could not have been on Mars not to note the vicious insult against Soyinka and those responsible for such on Naraland and on the ground in Nigeria. These are the same people he fought for without fear or favours !!!!! Abeg, allow the old man his belated pragmatism. Let Nigeria, a nation of ingrates, extremists and bigots, take care of herself. |
anselm791: If this is their next course of action, then I'm afriad we might need to build bigger cells to accommodate the other 120 million GEJ's critics. Truth is we won't have to worry about what people say if we do a good job. Abi OOOOO !!! |
nameo: This man is supposedly 'an anti-corruption crusader', yet he is an ally of Timipre Sylva of our people. Sahara Reporters should stop insulting our intelligence please. We don't really know why this guy was arrested, but it is almost certainly not cos he is a critic of GEJ nor cos he is an anti-corruption activist. If the President was in the habit of hoarding his critics, SR itself would not still be in existenceWe are not in 1982. GEJ, try as he might, cannot do what you say even if he wanted to. In this social networking age, with Nigerians in every corner of the world, we do not need a rocket scientist to make issues clear as regards the futility of leaders trying to oppress dissenting voices. |
ngozievergreen: Yorubas have which qualities that. build civilized wetin ?You're an uncouth illiterate, repellent fishwife and a total cretin anyway so I would be wasting my time talking of things that are far above your head and that you do not have the capacity to comprehend. Let Nigeria go back to regionalism and ill-exposed braggarts and self-delusional airheads like you will appreciate the saying "poetry in motion". |
egift: South-South has new Slave Masters - (their own elites). To be honest, the good guys of the region should really rise up against the Odili part 2 saga the leaders of the SS are currently delivering. |
lygn19: As far as its coming from sahara reporters, this needs to be taken to the joke section. Can you not read? The article was penned by Sabella Ogbobode Abidde not Sahara reporters. I have known Sabidde personally for years and he is no paid hack like Omokri et al. You can believe what you want anyway. That is entirely your prerogative. |
gbanikiti: Honestly, am not surprised. Those who are meant to be in jail are worshiped as lords and given contracts just because they come from the oil region. Someone who simply made constructive criticisms is arrested? Well, jonathan should be ready to arrest more critics because they won't keep quiet and watch this country go down in turmoil.Bruv, Nigeria is a 'gangster paradise' under GEJ. Like you, I too feel that 'muzzling' dissenting voices will get worse as the desperation and paranoia of GEJ and his 'crew' grows. |
nairaman66: GEJ's boot lickers are everywhere.. Even on NL!Majority of them are best ignored since they never have anything sensible to say anyway. |
gbanikiti: really, why is asari dokubo still walking about as a free man? He did worse because he incited a rebellion/terrorism against a nation. He ought to behind bars for the bold. I don't see why someone who expresses his opinion about his own state and president be arrested/kidnapped.Do you not know that it has been established, beyond doubt, that it is those who are terrorists, militants and/or 'carry guns' who gain respect and patrimony from GEJ? Why on earth would Asari-Dokubo be in jail? Jail is for the likes of this guy and other 'meek' voices. |
gbanikiti: I thought such things like this happen only in military administration? Its so disappointing than Jonathan and Dickson are going about arresting their critics. What happened to freedom of expression and information?Imagine the draconian nature of the whole thing. Arrested and shunted all over Nigeria and then held incommunicado at the behest of some insecure and power-drunk 'throwback' misrulers. I know Sabidde as well. Geezer is my buddy from way back and unlikely to be making anything up. Like I said before, power is transient and some will know the full meaning of that saying in future. |
sagombugo: Who said Mobutu was Dead...?A clannish and insecure President on the road to perdition and unable to minimally understand the simplistic message that power is transient. If true then no surprise whatsoever because it has always been correct that GEJ has a divisive mindset of “You are either for us or against us.” |
Tonye Okio: President Jonathan’s Critic Has Been Arrested By Sabella Ogbobode Abiddehttp://saharareporters.com/article/tonye-okio-president-jonathan%E2%80%99s-critic-has-been-arrested-sabella-ogbobode-abidde |
Ola Johnson: Shut up! Wole Soyinka is believed to be the Williams Shakespeare of our time, they have the same initials, WS. Soyinka is sometimes rated higher because unlike Shakespeare who was a poet and dramatist, Soyinka, in addition to the two, is also a novelist. He also writes essays on happenings. Check out his essay on the Senate on same sex marriage, "Sexu.al Minority and Legislative Zealotry."Dude the world is full of subliminally gifted writers. Avid readers do not generally obsess over pitting them against each other to establish supremacy. They appreciate the individual talent and enjoy the nuanced finesse of the great and distinguished ones. I personally don't get the comparison between Soyinka and Shakespeare and why anyone would attempt to make such to begin with. |
eGuerrilla: I am afraid you are not helping matters here.Well said. Why do Nigerians even do this? Do other African Nation have even a single Chinua Achebe or Wole Soyinka to even be in the position of ungraciously pitting these men against each other day in day out in a needless and ethnically vainglorious battle of supremacy? |
Katsumoto: That should be the new Yoruba consciousness; there should be no more Yoruba lives on the line for a bunch of undeserving ingrates. I hope Falana also keeps mum.I think this is the case. I think events of late and the divisive nature of GEJ has been a needed eye-opener for many Yorubas including myself. I still have love for all Nigerians but let us go back to regionalism so that, officially, everyone will be mandated to go and mind their own business. We can then take it from there when braggarts, ingrates and those into self-denial have learnt some valuable lessons about life and why it is never good, in an evil world, to take benevolent people for granted even as human nature leads many of us to be inclined to do this. I know the Yorubas will have no problem with regionalism . The Yorubas have no deficiency at all in relation to the possession of innate qualities that has helped Nations and civilisations to build great Countries and empires. About time we stopped carrying the problems of Nigeria on our head, and working for peace and diplomacy, only to be insulted and given unsavoury tags for doing such. Imagine Soyinka receiving these insults by some while same folks deify an opportunist like GEJ and other clannish AGIP elements who surround him currently and have been responsible for where Nigeria is today? Look at our heroes in the sands of time like Fawehinmi and others? Was it worth it? The same Femi Falana, insulted mercilessly and called all manner of names because of his fuel subsidy stance, was the one who fought to keep Ken Saro-Wiwa alive !!! Yorubas should maintain the tolerance and 'live and let live' persona we are noted for but we should now focus wholly and pragmatically on ourselves. That is already happening anyway while others continue to make noise. Let Nigeria, a nation of ethnocentric ingrates, take care of itself. The part in red in your post above I fervently agree with. |
Katsumoto: 1. Nobel prizes are not awarded on the basis of popularity let alone, one based on the US alone. In almost 110 years of the Nobel prize being awarded in literature, less than 10 Americans have won it. In almost 45 years of the Nobel prize being awarded in Economics, almost 45 Americans have won it. What does that indicate? That Americans are gods when it comes to economics but are below average in literature considering the US has the largest population of native English speakers. So America can never be a yardstick for measuring the popularity of writers. It is like stating, ignorantly, that artists not known in the US are not proper artists. Is the US known for Arts?Well done for educating her. Too many ignoramuses here. Personally, Soyinka should keep to his pledge and take his deserved rest. The man does not deserve the insults from uncouth ingrates. Imagine Soyinka who has always fought for all Nigerians when so many who are loud mouths today hid frightfully ? An old man who still showed up to march for GEJ in 2010 while the slimy and clannish elements 'eating' with the President today were all cowering in fear? Insults and hateful slurs is all Soyinka gets from absolute ingrates called "Nigerians". The man should fashi Nigeria permanently abeg. Ditto for Falana et al. Have you noticed Falana has gone silent also? Let these guys start channelling their energy into what matters. Nigeria is a Nation of ethnocentric ingrates not really worth fighting for. Abeg bring on regionalism so that, officially, everyone will be mandated to go and mind their own business. |
babyosisi: Americans don't behave like NigeriansAbsolute nonsense !!! The same America where Bush lied evilly about "weapons of mass destruction" as an excuse to use in destroying a whole Sovereign Country? Do you guys think before you come out with some crap to defend your prejudices and affiliations? Americans can be as hypocritical, as deceptive and as self-serving as they come !!!!! |
