neneslim: very sad that we have so many timid youths all over this country. I Fear for leaders of our generation cos i can bet we re going to be worse than all this vrrooks put together. We re here clapping for sen smart for praising a govt that refuse to work and create jobs. a govt that cant provide steady power, a govt thats killing our economy. ask urselves the supporters of this govt what is our current GDP. Fool.
Don't mind them. Adeyemi should be ashamed of himself. Hypocrisy 101 is Adeyemi holding brief for an ultra-corrupt President who is taking Nigeria backwards, empowering criminals and looters everywhere (like Anenih) while rounding on Buhari.

Is it not the same GEJ who called IBB his "father" just to curry election favor? We dey laff. Nigerian politicians are throwing rotten banana because they think the Nigerian variety of Monkeys does not even deserve fresh fruits. Yet the unthinking Monkeys are clapping foolishly confirming that they indeed deserve to be patronized.

Sibrah: Did anybody notice how most of the figures budgetted are round figures. If there is some form of evaluation before these budget were made i wonder why they are mostly round figures like N100m, N150m, N200m and N300m. The whole budget looks like a proposed sharing formular hurriedly cooked up.
If they had gone with cost of previous projects for there projections, i wonder how they would have ended up have so many round figures.
The ND and SS leaders are simply some of the most wicked in Nigeria. What makes them particulary wicked is that they only know how to cynically exploit the deserved empathy the entire world has for the plight of the people of the region that produces Nigeria wealth. They loot blindly and unconscionably and even arm young men to kill each other (Odili) and for the sake of winning/retaining political office.

Meanwhile they are the main culprits who keep their own people in abject poverty and blighting their lives with crime, violence, kidnapping et al. Today, as Rev. David Ugolor asserts, GEJ only has time to listen to and empower those who "carry guns". We have a functional Navy yet militants get maritime protection duty meanwhile oil bunkering is at an oil time high !!! Intelligent observers will know that GEJ, with his 'might is right' agenda, just has his eyes on other things same as Odili, Orubebe, Kuku, Alaibe and the many tasked with uplifting the ND yet are always consumed with their own selfish pursuits.

THE NDDC (Niger Delta development commission) is run by Niger Deltans tasked with the duty of supervising the development of the region. Yet, all these wicked characters do is loot every kobo available only to then be looking for others to blame tomorrow. OP has done well starting this thread. We need more like this to expose the insincerity of leaders so that Nigerians, at least those willing to shun sentiments, can see who their real enemies are.

NDDC: Petition Against fraud, corruption and financial malpractices

ATTENTION MR. STEVE ORONSAYE:

The greatest legacy of the Olesugun Obasanjo to the people of the Niger Delta Region is the establishment of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC. The Commission, in our candid opinion was created to assuage the fears of the people and address the critical developmental challenges of the region. The financial malpractices and corruption which led to the failure of past intervention agencies do not deserve any mention here.

However, we wish to point out that the Enabling Act, which established the NDDC has a vision “to offer a lasting solution to the socio-economic difficulties of the Niger Delta Region”. The mission of the NDDC is to “facilitate the rapid, and sustainable development and to establish a region that is economically prosperous socially stable ecologically regenerative and politically peaceful”.

It is indeed unfortunate that NDDC which was established to give hope to the long suffering people of the Region is now engulfed in criminal fraud, unimaginable corruption and gross financial malpractices. Whereas most of the Directors and Executive Directors are fingered as accomplices, the Executive Director, Finance and Administration is believed to be the mastermind of the cascading fraud, all because Timi wants to build a financial empire for himself to use the stolen wealth to pay for the governorship of Bayelsa State, as if the position is given to the highest bidder.

The governorship of Bayelsa State is not for sale to the highest bidder. We know that leaders are appointed by God through the people and as such leaders are supposed to be God fearing. The days are well over when governance was taken by force by a group selfish, opportunistic cabal. In a democratic system of government power ultimately belongs to the people. This is what Mr. Alaibe must appreciate.

The preceding paragraphs are highlights of a bigger picture of outright embezzlement and gross financial malpractices perpetrated by Mr. Timi Alaibe in the Niger Delta Development Commission, where he claims to have excelled.

Yet you are still showing your face in public? You give a whole new meaning to the word "reprobate".
PoliticsRe: How Alamieyeseigha And Silva Looted Bayelsa Treasury? by Gbawe:
Revealed here is the precise reason why I despise GEJ and his ilk. They are the sort who simply joined politics to be as rich as possible. No plans whatsoever for the people, no ideas in their head, no innovation in their thinking and no empathy and or compassion for ordinary Nigerians in their heart. GEJ bluntly refuses to eat less. He came to office asking for more airplanes to add to a bloated fleet bleeding money and recklessly consuming wealth that could be used elsewhere and on Nigerians. His fleet of expensively 'treated' vehicles cannot even be one car less. There must not be a single cut in all the preposterous perks of office him and many others enjoy. He scammed the nation blind with the fuel subsidy fraud to sponsor the 2011 election.

Today he is busy sponsoring many mouthpieces, mercenaries and 'actors' to threaten Nigeria and harass perceived opponent instead of simply delivering effective leadership. Everything the man does pays homage to his nature as an ultra corrupt individual. He wants a senseless 'mission' house for his crudely thieving wife despite that many Nigerians are wallowing in poverty.

The NNPC remains hideously corrupt and non-transparent. Allison-Madueke is a crook and scammer 'extraordinaire' yet she remains untouchable. NEITI has directly indicted GEJ as a leader whose "inaction" promotes corruption in our oil sector. We see the President, through Oransanye and Allison_madueke, prefer to embarrass Ribadu publicly rather than simply embrace and implements the recommendation the Ribadu petroleum task force delivered that could transform our oil sector for the better. What more does anyone need than that to show them GEJ is hideously corrupt and "part of the culture of corruption" as Orubebe confessed years ago about Mr.President?

Next minute, GEJ will join a town-hall meeting of his fellow wicked crooks to be lambasting "parasites of our oyel" when it is talentless, mediocre and heartless crooks like him who have looted the commonwealth of their own people and condemned them to abject poverty that has nothing to do with those outside their State. Now he has made it to the federal stage, courtesy of wicked men like OBJ, and we are seeing the same heartlessness and nauseating corruption that gave rise to those horrid pictures of Bayelsa. A state that has no business at all being like that considering the relatively large federal allocation, augmented by 13% derivation, and small population.

Nigeria will only make progress when we shun sentiment and a blindly ethnocentric outlook and begin supporting good folks, this 'goodness' revealed from their history, wherever they are from.

ilugunboy: Did you actually believe what you wrote up there...? Damn!

Smart was practically begging him to help GEJ....you better read the article because you are obviously talking like someone who didn't bother to read the story...
Many of them don't bother to read and comprehend. They just gobble up the banana thrown at them by patronising politicians who take them to be Monkeys. So Tinubu, as leader of the opposition, should begin publicly fighting an agbero politician who is pleading for him to abandon something he ideologically identifies with to "be with" GEJ?

All this tells us is that GEJ is getting very desperate. Tinubu did the classy thing ignoring an uncouth mouthpiece obviously spoiling for a fight. We know GEJ, more than any Nigerian President in recent history, has a penchant for these sort of 'Nollywood' antics using mercenaries like Orasanye, Otti, Otedola, Fasehun (OPC), Adeyemi et al.
PoliticsRe: Tinubu Embarrassed In Dubai For Associating With Buhari by Gbawe:
Garri the 1st: Tinubu is very smart. Any sane person will condemn Sen. Smart Adeyemi for his brainless action. It shows how uncouth, and irresponsible these PDP folks could be at times. They were there for a wedding, not a Political debate.

If Tinubu. Had responded, it would only have worsened an already bad situation. His response shows why decent folks will prefer APC to the Agbero-ish PDP

This thread also makes it easy to spot out irrational folks with very low IQ.

cheesy cheesy
Indeed. Even if on different sides of a fence should we , as an example, still not be able to agree that paedophilia is evil? What is the point of Adeyemi asking Tinubu to "be with GEJ"? Is that not an oxymoronic request to make of a committed opposition leader? Abeg, these desperados should spare us these 'agbero' displays that only reveal the desperation of team GEJ. Let everyone go and test their popularity without pleading like b1tches and threatening or blackmailing others.
PoliticsRe: Tinubu Embarrassed In Dubai For Associating With Buhari by Gbawe: 5:25pm On Jun 17, 2013
gbanikiti: Smartass Adeyemi has been longing for a day to embarass Tinubu and he finally got it! The same way that person of a Governor embarrassed Buhari because of a wedding which is not even related to him . Just imagine how senseless PDP members can be! grin

Lesson learnt: Don't invite any PDP member to your wedding or party because it might turn to a political gathering. grin
My dear sister, another lesson learnt is that this forum is full of sentimental folks who cannot think critically. Why should Adeyemi escape scrutiny over a statement that is procedurally inane? How long has Tinubu being an opposition leader? He should just wind up his opposition platform and "be with GEJ" as the not so smart Adeyemi foolishly suggests?

Nigerians don't even appreciate when leaders, through their patronisingly inane utterance, are showing they think we have the brain of Monkeys. What would be the point of George Osborne (a UK Conservation politician) berating Ed Miliband (leader of the opposition Labour Party) in public and telling him he "should be with" with David Cameron? We need to up our thinking in Nigeria because , as Dayokanu stated, the poor IQ and lack of sophistication indicated by some utterances here is very worrying.

We can all have our bias, differences and affiliation but that should not make us dense enough to just swallow patronisingly nauseating garbage, even children should reject, because it comes from a camp we support. Adeyemi rubbishes his Country , and even world politics, with this nonsense and it is obvious why Tinubu did not wish to join issues with such a shallow-minded person who has allowed himself to be used this appallingly. Why did Adeyemi, if he understands the need for democracy to be vibrant and is indeed a person with a genuine grouse against Buhari, not urge Tinubu to support another candidate for the APC? Why tell Tinubu to "be with GEJ"? For what? So all Nigeria should align behind this man who is a woeful leader with no cohesive plan to move the nation forward? Tinubu simply saw through Adeyemi and the growing desperation of team GEJ. Let everyone oil their machinery and prepare to test their popularity as should be in a democracy.

This desperation-led and agbero-type support-GEJ-by-force blackmail from Kuku, Clarke, Asari-Dokubo, Anenih, Adeyemi and all the agents of GEJ will not work.
PoliticsRe: Tinubu Embarrassed In Dubai For Associating With Buhari by Gbawe: 4:52pm On Jun 17, 2013
dayokanu: So you would prefer Tinubu turning a wedding for their children into a political campaign?

You wonder why ppl still think most Nigerians have a low IQ?
Thank you. The responses here, frankly, are embarrassing. With the part of Adeyemi's speech reproduced below, is it not obvious he is, as we have come to expect with GEJ's penchant for shameless public shows, acting out another Oransanye v Ribadu and Otedola v Farouk script that plays to the gallery in pursuit of the agenda of the Presidency?

Why would Tinubu, for his acclaimed intellect get into the gutter with Adeyemi when it is obvious what the Senator wants to achieve as another compromised and desperate mouthpiece of GEJ?

Those capable of rising above sentiments can see what is obvious to note Adeyemi's patronising display lacks sincerity or ideological honesty. If Adeyemi is truly opposed to Buhari as the democrat he now pretends to be, why the slavish eulogy and fawning endorsement of GEJ when the PDP as a Party has not presented a candidate for 2015? Why should Adeyemi be urging Tinubu to "be with" GEJ and against Buhari when the APC has not officially nominated Buhari and the PDP has not officially granted GEJ it's 2015 ticket? Why would Tinubu then publicly join issues with someone who disgraces his own name (Smart) this publicly with antics that is childish, hypocritical, contradictory and fraudulent on so many levels?

Is it not obvious Adeyemi is himself being undemocratic trying to force backing for GEJ's 2015 project especially from the leader of the opposition Party? Is it not obvious Adeyemi just organised an 'agbero' ambush devoid of political sincerity?

Sometimes, one does not know which is more disappointing. I.e the fact that compromised leaders are emboldened to patronisingly throw rotten Bananas at Nigerians or the notion that many Nigerians still remain unthinkingly Monkey-like enough to gobble up such rotten offerings.

Tinubu showed he is the smart one by not walking into another of the public ambush the clannish GEJ is fond of organising through the usage of clowns like Orasanye, Otti,Maku, Allison-Madueke, Otedola et al. What is the point of Adeyemi saying Tinubu "should be with" GEJ when he knows the man is one of the leaders of the opposition trying to give Nigerians choices? The world over, the APC is receiving praises because it can deepen Nigeria's democracy and Adeyemi wants otherwise by suggesting everyone must now align behind GEJ so that we have a coronation in 2015 instead of an election. Tinubu did well to walk away from this confused, desperate and obviously compromised clown called "Smart". Funny how politicians/public figures who are supporters of GEJ are now all Nollywood actors.

“I want to assure you, Asiwaju, that there is a president in Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, who has fought more battles than any other Nigerian leader in the name of terrorism.
“In 2012, the budget for security was N900 billion; that money is enough to dualise all major roads in Nigeria. It is enough to equip our universities. If that money had entered some African countries, it would cripple the economy, but it was committed to security because of terrorism.

“Goodluck Jonathan can be likened to a pilot who took off and suddenly entered into turbulence. With patience and perseverance, he weathered the storm. Today, he has reached the cruising level and he is cruising towards 2015. I believe you should be with this president as a democrat and not with a dictator.”

jp philips: corruption if eradicated will build confidence in institutions that will trigger the growth of the SME's, in an economy where the bank executives can dish out loans to who ever they please with impunity, how would the money get to the SME's?
isn't that corruption?

banks prefer to lend to the govt because every Nigerian is a ghost, thanks to corruption. before you talk about a National database, did you follow the furore between Capital oil and Access bank?

those are the pertinent issues. there is so much corruption in the land, Nigeria has bank of industry, Nigeria has bank of Agriculture and so on, what do you think they are meant for? releasing ATM like some one joked above?

go and peruse their books, there are allocations, directly or indirectly through either the ministries over seeing them or boards. what happens to those money? now, if you argue there are no SME's which i will be S!lly not to agree with you anyways,
how many board chairmen are in prison? if we have more corrupt people in prison, we will worry less about unemployment and other social vices, if the judiciary is fighting corruption, there will be a lot of reparations to the poor from the rich that will narrow the gap.

I read in a Chinese law journal where a judge mandated a construction company to subsidize transportation for a particular district due to the poor quality of road they did. with such judgements people will be careful, the beneficiaries of the SME's will invest wisely because there is a punitive caveat attached to the fund, unlike our system, where we fund SME's to create over night individual billionaires.
Your'e one sharp dude and this is why you are one of the few I actually look forward to reading from. What you stated above, relating to money or finance never getting to the SME is what Dr. Obiora Madu identifies precisely below. He is the Programme Director of Multimix Academy which is a global trade, logistics and supply chain management firm. I really don't know how these fans of GEJ can be so unpatriotic they come here daily to deliver a smorgasbord of lies when we all know that the GEJ Government is doing absolutely nothing in relation to alleviating our biggest problems. Only God can forgive some people. It is criminal that, since 1999, no Nigerian government has made a semi-serious effort to aid the growth and success of our SME sector.

http://nationalmirroronline.net/new/nigerias-non-oil-export-sector-is-grossly-underdeveloped/

In terms of incentives, if you give 100 people incentives, if 30 succeed, you have not failed because by the time you quantify the multiplier effect of the 30 that have succeeded, you will see that you have not failed. In Nigeria, people in public service see incentives as waste of money, they will always say; we wasted so- so amount of money; when elsewhere, they talk about baskets of incentives. Government does not treat the SMEs very well, everyone says they are the engine room for economic growth and yet we are not doing anything serious about developing them.

In the last conference I attended, which was on agricultural products and export in South Africa, you find out that micro finance is working in Tanzania and those countries but it is about the mentality. You see, when we started micro finance banks in Nigeria, they were set up by the big banks and they started behaving like those who set them up because these banks in Tanzania and the rest of them are there in the villages. Nigerian farmers are not getting anything funding unless it is intervention fund, it will never get to them. But if a micro finance bank, which deals with farmers in the villages on a daily basis, it will be much better in terms of accessing the necessary funds. But bankers do not understand their transactions; they believe they are so risky to do business with.

So the issue of funding is critical and so many businesses have died still birth because of the problem of funding. In this country, you have a bright idea, you cannot think of getting money to fund it, it is not possible. So the funding situation is very critical to the survival of the SMEs in Nigeria.

This is the intellectual laziness and dishonesty many, like this Lostpope character, deploy with impunity here because they think others are all blockheads. What is the point pretending we are in the same boat as others, vis a vis increasing poverty, when global recession , tied to specific problems of economic susceptibility to peculiar problems, caused serious issues for some Nation? Highly dishonest pontifications to say the least when our unique condition predisposed us to being unaffected by a global recession that has legitimately increased poverty for exposed Nations.

If this forum were to be about about fact-based arguments then it would be quickly obvious that many contributors who defend the Government of GEJ actually do not know what they are talking about. Their knowledge is not deep and not cohesive. The cause of the current economic crisis in the west is well-documented. It is specific and the intrinsic nature of the root problems adequately explains why African Nations were sparred. It really is amazing how unintelligent the argument of these GEJ apologists are. I guess they know a market exists here for their dullard utterances.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Recession

The Great Recession[1] (also referred to as the Lesser Depression,[2] the Long Recession,[3] or the global recession of 2009[4][5]) is a marked global economic decline that began in December 2007 and took a particularly sharp downward turn in September 2008. The initial phase of the ongoing crisis, which manifested as a liquidity crisis, can be dated from August 7, 2007, when BNP Paribas, citing a "complete evaporation of liquidity," terminated withdrawals from three hedge funds.[6] The bursting of the U.S. housing bubble, which peaked in 2006,[7] caused the values of securities tied to U.S. real estate pricing to plummet, damaging financial institutions globally.[8][9]
The global recession has affected the entire world economy, with greater detriment to some countries than others. It is a major global recession characterized by various systemic imbalances and was sparked by the outbreak of the U.S. subprime mortgage crisis and financial crisis of 2007–08. The economic side effects of the European sovereign debt crisis,[10] austerity, high levels of household debt, trade imbalances, high unemployment and limited prospects for global growth in 2013 and 2014[11][12] continue to provide obstacles to full recovery from the Great Recession.[13][14][15]

Countries that avoided recession[edit]
Poland is the only member of the European Union to have avoided a decline in GDP, meaning that in 2009 Poland has created the most GDP growth in the EU. As of December 2009 the Polish economy had not entered recession nor even contracted, while its IMF 2010 GDP growth forecast of 1.9 per cent is expected to be upgraded.[111][112][113]
Analysts have identified several causes: Extremely low levels of bank lending and a relatively very small mortgage market; the relatively recent dismantling of EU trade barriers and the resulting surge in demand for Polish goods since 2004; the receipt of direct EU funding since 2004; lack of over-dependence on a single export sector; a tradition of government fiscal responsibility; a relatively large internal market; the free-floating Polish zloty; low labour costs attracting continued foreign direct investment; economic difficulties at the start of the decade which prompted austerity measures in advance of the world crisis.[citation needed]
While China, India, and Iran have experienced slowing growth, they have not entered recession.
South Korea narrowly avoided technical recession in the first quarter of 2009.[114] The International Energy Agency stated in mid September that South Korea could be the only large OECD country to avoid recession for the whole of 2009.[115] It was the only developed economy to expand in the first half of 2009.
Australia avoided a technical recession after experiencing only one quarter of negative growth in the fourth quarter of 2008, with GDP returning to positive in the first quarter of 2009.[116][117]
The financial crisis did not affect developing countries to a great extent. Experts see several reasons: Africa was not affected because it is not integrated in the world market. Latin America and Asia seemed better prepared, since they experienced crisis before. In Latin America for example banking laws and regulations are very stringent. Bruno Wenn of the German DEG even suggests that Western countries could learn from these countries when it comes to regulations of financial markets.[118]

haven't you heard that the flood victims from a region allocated 560m naira went home with two packs of sardine?

with our oga zoology swimming in corruption, i doubt if any policy can be fully implemented, its a chop chop govt.

You're correct about corruption ruining the broth - plus lack of focus and ideas. The SME sector in Germany accounts for 70% of total number of Germans employed. Till today, there is no cohesive plan to grow the sector in Nigeria and shape it into a veritable tool of economic emancipation . This is largely because corruption, profligacy, lack of incentives and lack of sincerity means the considerable initial investment required to create a vibrant SME sector will not materialise. Tragic really. This is why educated and exposed Nigerians can only laugh at the deceptive antics of GEJ that Insincere9gerian and others package as "efficient economic management" for the gullible and uninformed.

…provides about 70% of jobs
Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) have been put forward as part of the secrets of Germany’s success. The German Ambassador to Nigeria, Her Excellency, Frau Dorothee Janetze-Wenzel, made this known while delivering a lecture at the recent international colloquium organised by the Faculty of Arts, University of Nigeria Nsukka.

She said although Germany is not endowed with remarkable natural resources, it is the largest economy in the European Union and the fourth largest in the world with a Gross Domestic Product of US$3,342 billion due mostly to education/research.

“German research institutions and private enterprises are investing billions of Euro into research (almost three billion euros).

As a result, Germany is the leading European country when it comes to patent registration. “Important sectors in the German economy are automobile construction, mechanical and electrical engineering, chemicals, environmental technology and nano technology.

“One of the secrets of the German success is the fact that alongside international companies, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are the backbone of the economy and provide roughly 70 per cent of the jobs,” she said.

Quoting German’s Federal Foreign Minister, Guido Westerwelle, the Ambassador said that Germany’s resources “do not lie underneath our feet but between our ears. The most important resources in times of globalisation are education and research.

“We have the chance and the responsibility to promote and to employ education and research well,” she said even as she noted that another thing Germany has going for her is the fact that the average German loves his/her job and so is able to put in his/her best.

You hate the truth and try always to fight it with long but meanigless outbursts. Just prove to me that govts do not have a media team, just prove to me u and other rascals are not Tinubu‘s praise singers, just prove to me that Jonathan‘s praise singers aint doing better than you.
Only then will I accept outbursts and rants are not born out of jealousy and frustration.
Why should I prove anything to a pathetic loser and crybaby like you? Even the way you talk reveal that you are a loser seeking validation on an anonymous forum. Perhaps I should mail you my CV so you can see what I have been up to. Deluded dimwit.

You insult others, they respond and you are whining. Effeminate coward. Supposedly, you're "not moved" by what I write yet you mention me when I do not even know who you are !! Is your conduct here not the same as the many sad losers who stalk others maliciously? You are just another anonymous groupie loser, suffering from a charisma bypass, who cannot contribute original ideas or define his own identity here. Sad git.

Shakara123: Those who fear Buhari in power come 2015 are mostly the currupt or those who have currupt friends or relatives in power or those who indirectly benefit from the present system where curruption is the order of the day.

Others are those who fear for what that man will do to them when he gets to power knowing fully well how much evil they have inflicted on Nigerians, hence they will do everything possible to keep him off Aso Rock.

We need JACK BAUER in this country. President Charles Logan...hmmm
you are 100% correct. For example, if it is President Buhari that recieved the recommenation we stop selling our crude through traders, because doing so abets monumental theft and corruption against Nigeria, then the practice will stop even before Ribadu has finished talking !!!! Not so with the man currently occupying Aso rock who is a crude joke and the subject of international ridicule. The entire world knows that GEJ loves corrupt Nigerians and those who are corrupt love him dearly also. whereas most of them will literally run away faster than Usain Bolt if Buhari became President.

David-West is right even if some on this forum are too childishly partisan to note the point he makes. For example, Nigeria, in today's ultra-competitive universe where we cannot afford to lose grounds, should be beyond entertaining a clueless and corrupt President who receives direct transformational recommendations he should implement immediately.

Yet, rather than seeing GEJ swing into action, the world watches appalled as our President arrogantly discredit and then ignore those recommendations pivotal to the progress of Nigeria. We should all be sophisticated enough to reject such a character for the sake of national progress. That many cannot even minimally see the wrongs of GEJ, and even prefer to insult the likes of David-West, is explanation enough for where we are today because Nigerian leaders do not come from Mars. They are products of our society.

Don't mind underdeveloped cretins like that. We want law and order to evolve. We want our institutions to grow above the whimsical machinations of flawed minds and some aberrant folks are backing the notion of abuse of power, privilege and position. We have a long way to go.

Mogidi: Speaking another man's language is now an achievement. You should encourage your kid to master maths not languages. I'd have been impressed if your kid can speak Mandarin..just saying.
Should your first lady, a grown and ostensible educated adult, not be able to speak English, which is the lingua Franca of her nation, better than any 4 year old worldwide?

My substantive point to another poster, before you put your ITK nose in what is none of your business, is that I cannot be jealous of a grown adult who cannot even speak her own lingua franca as well as a 4 year old.

I tend to respect human qualities (intelligent, talent, ability, class, sophistication, dedication to duty/excellence etc) and not just position, wealth or 'bling' as may be the case with others. It was ludicrous yet not unexpected, since many Nigerians are vacuously materialistic, for anyone to suggest criticism or disapproval of leaders/public figures is borne of jealousy. Especially more so when there is nothing, from a perspective of personal ability, for anyone to be jealous of in regards to the likes of Patience Jonathan.
PoliticsRe: Let's Learn To Love And Trust Each Other As A Nation by Gbawe: 10:38pm On Jun 16, 2013
@OP

Your message is appreciated but I think you ask for the wrong things. Nigerians do not have to "love" and "trust" each other. Nigerians should just simply learn to respect each other and be tolerant. That is what is most important.

Respect the choice of others. Respect their culture, religion, lifestyle and the way they wish to define their space and associate in it. If Nigerians can evolve enough to be capable of respecting and tolerating others then they will coexist with no problems at all.

I don't think, for example, the French love the English or vice versa. Yet they respect each other and can relate to each other perfectly and civilly. Due to that innate sophistication both sides are working with, despite differences, they forge good and mutually beneficial working/living relationship.

Love and trust is overrated in my opinion because man will naturally devote himself to his corner when push comes to shove. Crucially important, above love and trust, is tolerance and respect for others. We should all learn to put ourselves in the shoes of others instead of seeing issues from our own perspective alone.

I have been to many nations of the world and the most progressive tend to focus on tolerance and respect for others - not necessarily love, trust or even trying to get people to associate with others artificially or unwillingly. The overarching message is live and live !!!! You may, for example, not love or trust Islam, Christianity or native religion but you must accept that others have the right to devote themselves to those religions. You can hate the way a language sound but that does not mean you belittle those who use it and tout yours superior. Etcetera, etcetera.

kutchs: Reading comments on this thread makes you wonder what the likes of Gbawe, Eko ile, Demdem, Dayokanu, Eko Atlantic, Cyberg and other ‘non professional‘ praise singers on nairaland are to Tinubu and other ACN rascals.

Every govt at all levels has a media team whose job is to sell the govt to the public, the problem ACN and other opposition party has is that Jonathan‘s ‘praise singers‘ is doing a better job than theirs.
Are you done with the elementary level 00001 psychology you are learning in night school? Instead of this rant that shows how self-deceitful you are, could it not just be that those far more exposed, more successful and a trillion times more ambitious than you are just have no time for a totally worthless President and the many dishonest and unpatriotic hirelings who tell him he is "brilliant" while the world at large sees the bumbling incompetence, lack of intelligence and lack of direction of an abject mediocrity placed far above his station? You make the mistake of thinking everyone is at your very low level of ambition and aspiration.

Fantastic development for many reasons. I especially love the parts highlighted below:

When completed in the next three years, the facility will
be the biggest in Africa
Besides, it intends to make Calabar the hub of its
manufacturing activities in sub-Saharan Africa.
Indigenes of the state will benefit from employment, especially if what GE seeks is
skilled labour.”

100% agree with sending them packing in 2015. Sometimes I wonder if Nigeria is cursed. We appear more like a wretched, good for nothing and fraudulent "giant" always cheating itself. How hard is it, in a nation with over 160 million people, to get a proven achiever and solution provider to be the number one citizen? Apparently Nigeria has a knack of making easy things extremely difficult. That we keep ending up with clueless individuals like GEJ, and all the baggage that comes with them, is beyond the ordinary.

I agree with you. However, we still have to respect the fact that she is officially a permanent secretary in a Nigerian State even if her husband has reduced Nigeria to a theatre of the absurd. We should, as Nigerian citizens, ask her to face her official duty as perm sec instead of marauding the political landscape disturbing other democratically elected leaders trying to do their job.
