Good point. Also, men marry women who reflect what they are comfortable with. A man who marries a loud, uncouth, semi-illiterate woman is comfortable with those qualities. Simple as that.

RIP to the boy, but I wonder what a 25year old boy is doing in a den of killers.
Hunger does not discriminate my brother. It hits stomachs of all ages. Even a 17 year old, if big and strong enough, can probably join political thuggery in Nigeria. RIP to the dead young man.

barcanista: may you not be destroyed by ignorance. This policy has been agreed on since year 2000 by Obj Govt and other Ecowas leaders. 2015 has already been agreed as kick off date and its not an haphazardous decision Mr Gbawe. Its a good move that deserves our commendations and support. God bless you
Why are some of you so obsessed with stalking and discrediting other posters to the extent you are prepared to lie ludicrously in the process? You lie the 2015 date has been agreed since "2000 by Obj Govt and other Ecowas leaders" yet show no single reference to back this false assertion. Meanwhile, I have already shown earlier, conclusively, that dates for the take-off of the ECO has been agreed and postponed several times. Dude, get a life. Stop stalking others with lies here. You're not bright enough to get away with it. You will only get exposed as an olodo who is fond of lying. Clearly, you are the only person being "destroyed by ignorance".

The ECO: a common currency phantasm or certainty?

The initial date set for the introduction of the ‘ECO’ was January 2003. However, the implementation suffered a pitfall when by November 2002 it became apparent that the participating countries would not be able to achieve the convergence criteria.

The date was subsequently postponed to July 2005, as it was expected that that would give the countries adequate time to meet the criteria. But, again, this did not happen because the countries failed to meet the target.

It was then decided that, perhaps, the process should be postponed for a longer period to enable the countries make more preparations.

December 2009 was therefore settled upon with the hope that the participating countries will properly gird their loins for the new currency. But, as it turned out, the deadline did not become feasible, and now the new date is 2015.

For some analysts, it remains to be seen whether the proverbial ‘old lady’ would finally shove off her ‘stick’ in 2015 or there would be another postponement to perhaps, 2020.

BTW why are Nollywood actor/resses hailing him, did he sponsor any movie or set up a film school or movie market for them.
Good point. More info would be appreciated so we know what this entails specifically. The idea itself is good.

saint047: Area boys job,wot of d unemployed graduate? Crazy governor
Some of you just like to insult others without thinking. Is it not commendable the Governor is looking at ways to proactively provide employment for those who will probably never find legitimate employment because they often have very little education and no formal skills? If administrators do not take an interest in absorbing these disenfranchised and stigmatised class of people into society then they will remain attracted to crime that is a menace to all of us. We all lose in the end.

At least graduates can apply for and gain the few jobs available. Would you employ an 'area boy', with little education and no skills, if a business owner?

Ilaje44:

However, you are very on point with the matter of inter-ECOWAS trade. I really laughed when I read they are planning a single currency, when they are busy imposing all manner of barriers to impede free flow of good among themselves. If there was free trade in the ECOWAS, the Lagos port would have to up its game else, a lot of people would have chosen to have their goods come in through Cotonou or even Lome.
Good point and precisely what I meant with an earlier submission.

The reality is that the economies of ECOWAS States are nowhere near harmonised enough to facilitate the deliverance of a single currency. Even the free movements of goods and services underpinning the ethos of ECOWAS is bogged down in non-compliance with member States waking up today to arbitrarily enact protectionist actions that should be clearly outlawed.

Simply not a realistic target in my opinion.

Horus: The fact is that Africans can only rise together. It is important to note that it is in the interest of the West for us to remain divided because they will retain a massive bargaining power over us. Africa is resource rich and if we worked together, we could form a price fixing cartel, like OPEC for all our resources, in the process extracting a bigger portion of value from the global economic system.
Bottom line is that you cannot force a people to give what they do not have. Africans are simply not socially evolved or disciplined enough to sustain sophisticated models of mutual cooperation or interdependent living. While we can all suggest laudable models that may best take advantage of our situation and endowment, in an increasingly competitive world with dwindling resources and opportunities, we should always have the people themselves in mind - most especially their glaring limitations.

tumababa: IS DAT WHAT THEY LEARNT FROM THE EURO?
This has nothing to do with the EU. Totally different fiscal and socio-economic realities. Dates have been proposed before for the take-off of ECO i.e the ECOWAS single currency.

Most Central bank governors of ECOWAS member States are happy to allow others waffle because they know issues are more about politicians playing to the gallery and pretending economic union is a must-have holy grail.

The reality is that the economies of ECOWAS States are nowhere near harmonised enough to facilitate the deliverance of a single currency.
Are those men on the ground dead? shocked
They were shot dead. The article OP presents does not tell the full story. The entire revelation about the operation of the gang reveals a very worrying trend as per the general insecurity of Nigeria. The gang leader , now dead, apparently funded a restaurant business in Ghana with the proceeds of his kidnapping racket. Kidnapping will take hold of every corner of Nigeria eventually if nothing is done about youth unemployment and poverty while Mr.President maintains his ten airplane fleet when he needs only one plane. "An idle mind is the devil's workshop". Is it not tragic and a sign Nigeria is failing that these guys can go around operating in army uniforms? Bureau de change operators even collude to help them transfer their ill-gotten wealth to Ghana.

Nothing appears to works in Nigeria. Yet, rather than face this reality Nigerians are consumed with bickering about what does not matter instead of putting pressure on Government to deliver what we all need such as State policing that may move crime-fighting towards effective intelligence-based crime detection and prevention.

Police kill Bamigbetan’s kidnappers, arrest two

https://www.osundefender.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/kidnappers-360x225.jpg
The suspects. Inset: Changrani.

The Lagos State Police Command says it has arrested members of a kidnapping syndicate suspected to have kidnapped the Chairman, Ejigbo Local Council Development Area, Kehinde Bamigbetan.
According to the police, the suspects were arrested shortly after kidnapping an Indian, Vivex Changrani, in the early hours of Monday.

The Commissioner of Police for the command, Umar Manko, said the suspects were not based in Lagos but only operated in the state on weekends after which they would flee to Ghana.
He said apart from Bamigbetan, the suspects had been involved in a series of high-profile kidnapping including that of a Federal High Court judge in Lagos.

He said, “Based on painstaking investigation and tracking of Nigerian kidnappers who kidnapped Ejigbo LCDA Chairman, Kehinde Bamigbetan, a sitting Federal High Court Judge and other notable individuals in Lagos, a team of detectives, led by the Officer in Charge of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, traced the kidnappers to the Agbara area of Ogun State where the kidnappers have their camp.

“After 72 hours of laying ambush, the policemen stormed the house where the kidnappers were gathered. A gun duel ensued and seven kidnappers were killed. Two of the kdinappers, Ogbonna Emenike and Uchenna Nwanyu, were arrested alive with bullet wounds while four AK47 rifles, 28 AK47 magazines and over 1,000 rounds of AK47 live ammunition were recovered.

“A Honda CRV and a Nissan Pathfinder as well as charms were recovered from them. An Indian national, Vivex Changrani, who was kidnapped at Ikoyi two hours before the operation, was also rescued by the police.”
Manko said the suspects were able to evade arrest for so long because they were in Ghana and due to international law, Nigeria policemen had to collaborate with INTERPOL to track the suspects.

The police boss said the suspects operated in army uniforms which deceived members of the public.
“We discovered that because the suspects operated in army uniform, they easily got away. Sometimes, they could even alight from their vehicles in broad daylight and direct traffic in order to escape,” he said.
According to police detectives, who spoke to our correspondent on the condition of anonymity, the suspects lived flamboyant lifestyles in Ghana.
A police source, said the leader of the gang, Jonah Benjamin Osinachi aka China, who was killed during a gun duel with the police, owned a big restaurant in Ghana and other investments which he funded with proceeds from his illegitimate business.

He said, “The suspects only struck during weekends after which they would go back to Ghana. For instance, after kidnapping Bamigbetan, they received $50,000 (N8m) as ransom. They went back to Ghana without any money.
“Rather, what they did was to give the money to a bureau de change operator who then helped them to transfer the money through an agent to Ghana.”
The suspects however said they were not members of the gang but only friends to the killed suspects.
Nwanyu said, “I am not a kidnapper, China employed me to manage his restaurant in Ghana and I have been doing that for two years now. I came with China, his wife and two kids on Sunday because they said they wanted to renew their passports at FESTAC.”

Another suspect, Emenike, said he was not part of the gang. He said he was only released from prison last Monday and was only at the wrong place at the wrong time.
The Indian victim, Changrani, however identified the suspects as his captors. He commended the police for rescuing him less than five hours after his abduction.

He said, “I have been living in Nigeria for seven years and I work for a plastic-manufacturing company. On Sunday night, around 12am, I was on Gerard Road, Ikoyi, when men in army uniform flagged down my vehicle. They jumped into my car and pushed me into the back seat.
“An hour later, they pushed me into their own vehicle, blindfolded me. After some hours, they took me into their house and locked me in a room and told me to sleep. Around 5am, I started hearing gunshots and when the police identified themselves, I screamed for help and they rescued me. The police did a fantastic job.”

Please stop being a fool! Stick to the topic and prove that the statement is false. Don't you realize you have been talking to only yourself and your colleagues in the office (ACN e-warriors) except for Eko Ile who on suspension for being unable to defend the Lagos schools.

hehehehehe
Look, sad hater, there is nothing for you here. Don't you see all your co-travellers from the first page have all run away? It is obviously because everyone now has a better understanding of the efforts of Amosun in the health sector to know the original article was not objective or comprehensive.

Also, you are an olodo who has not 'tweaked' what is obvious. The complainant makes a big show of saying "free" healthcare is not really free. Let us analyse that statement. Free healthcare is only available for children under age 5 and elderly folks over age 70. These two groups will likely be 20% of the population or less. Clearly, this discredits the complainant and this is why your co-travellers in hate from page one have now all disappeared to include OP who has abandoned his own thread. This is Nigeria and there will always be ways for disgruntled and hateful elements to find 'dirt', imaginary or real, about others they dislike. Yet the facts will always dislodge mischief.

Garri the 1st: The most annoying part is that while these folks remain fixated on SW administrators who represent a remarkable improvement over previous administrations, their own states are being run aground by visionless and mediocre administrators.
Don't mind these creatures of hate. They are so entrenched in blind hatred of others that they will do anything to satisfy this wicked mental problem . One of them even registered to lie he knows me personally only for his desperate co-travellers to rush in and 'like' his lies. It shows you these nuisance on Nairaland are 'herded' in hatred. They hate to see anyone make progress and only look forward to bad news about others. As you conclude, the tragedy is that the administrators of their own States and region are getting away with murder literally while they obsess about the SW 24/7. Scores of dead men wash up in a river, in what is likely evidence of state sanctioned summary execution, and you are here trying to taint Amosun with infamy when you should have enough on your own plate to worry about !!!!

It was like their cowardly oga who has now run away in shame i.e Beaf. We all know the wannabe never spoke about anything here that was not related to the SW. You would have though the punk was from the SW since he spoke about nothing else at all. Yet it turned out the 1d1ot and big coward was from Delta State!!! He even confessed to being too scared to talk about Delta politics because "everyone is armed". Imagine such patent cowardly wickedness and sheer evil. Rather than be fighting for your own State to be free of tyranny you are always stalking others who are moving in the right direction. Sickening. For me Nairaland has been an eye-opener that has made me realise how mentally disturbed many Nigerians are.

As usual it is automatically about talking of Akwa Ibom when anything SW is mentioned. Is everyone from the SE/SS now from Akwa Ibom? In the desperation to always beef the SW and her administrators you insecure, clannish inferior-minded cretins no longer talk about anything other than Akwa Ibom. Pathetic clowns. As for the topic itself. I think folks are now far more educated about Amosun's efforts in the healthcare sector to know the article you ALUU cretins were dancing Azonto over is neither objective nor comprehensive.

Thanks Hon. Gbawe for a job well done. Thank you bad belle people too coz without you, I wouldn't have seen these informative pics. Thank you all.
You are most welcomed my good man. I have never stated that ACN administrators are angels. My posts here validates this. All I ask objective Nigerians to note is the real, delivered and proven effort of ACN administrators, despite controlling only a few States, that show they offer, without any doubt, very substantial improvement on what obtained before they came on board. That is what politics is entirely about. Making dispassionate choices and decisions based only on what those seeking your votes actually have delivered and proven they can do.

Nigerians, when they evolve enough to attain the requisite sophistication, will know it is all about embracing those who offer you a better deal, wherever they are from, instead of cutting your nose to spite your face because you are tribalisitic, clannish, racist, sectionally jingoistic, xenophobic, generally prejudiced and unfairly judgemental.

cool
Oga mi Garri master, you are most welcomed. See as they now come out of the woodwork to hide behind "thread derailment" to mask their disappointment the thread has not become the hate-fest they hoped for. Whatever I do here, I don't derail threads and there is always method to Gbawe's mode of operation.

Let us go back to the first page. No one thought to give Amosun a chance so we can indeed inspect his record and effort in the health sector. Instead the haters flooded in for their Azonto-ALUU lynch mob Party of hate. Instructive also to note past post and discern what most of these set of posters do here and are known for. I decided to let several of them comment before I made things clear since I knew Amosun efforts in the health sector to know that this report is neither objective nor comprehensive.

When these hateful elements flooded in to insinuate that, based on what the article stated, Amosun and all ACN governors are propagandist what other method would be illustratively sufficient other than for me to first show Amosun's effort in the health sector, as I initially did, and then negate the lies Amosun and ACN administrators are "about propaganda all round"?

This is what these people wait for. One single thing they hope to then use to discredit everything. Sadly, there is now too much evidence to show what ACN Governors are doing for hateful liars to carry the day with their deception. This is what I am showing and now they want to cry, like cowards, about "derailment" whenit is now clear they wished to use this to discredit everything Amosun and his ACN compatriots have done. Hateful losers.

Go and scan their gleeful and hateful comment from the first page, against an administrator genuinely adjudged as delivering by his own people, to know what irredeemable haters these guys are. One wonders why some people are this wicked and malevolent. It is clear these hateful creatures wanted to use this unbalanced submission of the healthcare effort of Amosun to discredit ACN administrators. They thought they had the perfect chance to get away with hateful deceit. Well, I am still around and hateful vultures need to beware. Look at the non-stakeholder Party of hate that I disrupted. Why won't they be mad, when I have crashed their hate Party, to the extent one of the clowns registered a new ID with which he used to state he knows me personally. As if I would have anything to do with these losers and haters in real life.

enyice: And finally, you guys have succeeded in derailing the thread from "NO FREE HEALTH CARE SERVICES IN OGUN STATE'' to "THE ACHIEVEMENTS OF GOV. AMOSUN IN OGUN STATE".

I havent been to ogun state post- Gbenga Daniel's administration but judging from the media's commentaries, there's indeed been an improvement.

While the governor promised free healthcare services to toddlers and the aged, i dont know if its bn implemented.

Premium times as usual might have chosen that title to heat up the polity as am compelled to believe that NMA's aim was to draw the govt's attention to some of the medical facilities lacking in the hospitals and further clear the notion about free healthcare services so that those needing the services wouldnt come with empty hands.
There is no derailment of the thread. We all know the OP and his purpose. He seeks lies to sell against ACN-led states. I simply sought to show that Amosun's effort is such in the health sector that only a liar can seek to deceive the public as if the man is doing nothing in the health sector when he has actually anchored his reform on a very expensive yet comprehensive approach that other have never attempted. Did you not see the renovations of existing health centres and the model health centre (showed below) that we won't hear about in submissions seeking to present Amosun as having done nothing in the healthcare sector?

Medical equipment ordered to supply the new centres being built and those renovated. One disgruntled Doctor cannot sit somewhere and dismiss real and tangible efforts. We all know , after many years of neglect and decay, that there is a lot to be done in the health sector. Yet Amosun is trying to address every deficiency and genuine critics should seek to engage him and his government objectively so all hands can join to move the State forward.

Reforestation efforts and comment from a real stakeholder not the hate-filled carck-addicted nuisance who disturb good nairaland daily with their smorgasbord of lies against administrators who are delivering.

In line with the Senator Ibikunle Amosun led administration's plan to engage in aggressive reforestation of the state forest reserves which had been depleted over the years, the ministry of forestry has started the process of reforestation with thousands of different species of trees like melina, mahogany, thick and many more already growing in the nursery which will soon be ready for planting. This will effectively revive the dying forest reserves across the state and generate massive revenue for the state. God bless Ogun State.

Nureni Amusa The gud pple of our great state are highly excited with SIA's purposeful governance. Ride on SIA. God bless Ogun State. God bless Nigeria.

Kudos to you for education these illiterates

The facebook picture links can you embedd them in the image icon and remove the "s" from "https"
Thanks Dayo. I just assumed the images were rights-protected. This are the revelations of the reality this haters on Nairaland are terrified about. They know that ACN administrators are delivering the goods.

How can they continue to sell their "Tinubu is evil and taking all the money" and "ACN and PDP are the same" deceit if not by lying blatantly while hoping the penchant of most Nairalanders for ignorance will enable their lies to be accepted as the truth? Hateful clowns.

olivertwist: If Hon. Gbawe is a 'cheap liar', then what are you, 'expensive liar', shey?

You these pee-poo sha. Anywayz angry
Don't mind these lost and hateful souls. When we chronicle the achievements of ACN Governors they say we are lying. When we go further to show pictures and the appreciative comments of real stakeholders and end users, they still continue to rant that others are "lying". What more proof does anyone need to see that these irritants to good Nairalanders are mentally 'damaged goods'? They cannot help themselves. Blind hatred of others that me , you and most normal folks will never understand has totally ruined their minds and perspective. Anyway, let me continue ojare. Below is the 'big one' everyone is excited about:

OGUN SIGNS MOU ON LIGHT RAIL PROJECT

Ogun State Government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on light rail mass transit with the China Civil Engineering Construction Company that will link major cities in the state as well as boost its economy.

While signing the MOU in his Oke-Mosan Office in Abeokuta, Governor Ibikunle Amosun noted that there can be no development without putting the necessary infrastructures in place. He said “ We have been doing our best on roads but it is high time we paid attention to rail as well. We are starting the mass transit within Abeokuta metropolis. This will be extended to all our major towns including the Ado-Odo/Ota axis which will encompass all the border area with Lagos”.

“Our first focus is intra city rail mass transit, thereafter we will embark on linking the cities together. Within the next couple of years, you will begin to see the results of what we are trying to do to improve transportation of goods and services”,he said.

Governor Amosun said it was imperative to boost transportation in the state since the state population is projected to rise significantly over the next couple of years.

In his remarks the Managing Director of China Civil Engineering Construction Company, Mr. Cao Bao Gang applauded the Senator Ibikunle Amosun-led administration for its developmental vision for the state, pointing out that, ’’ the project on completion will enhance the transportation system and contribute to the economic development of the Gateway State.’’

He assured that the highest quality will be deployed in the implementation of the project adding that ‘’it will provide jobs for residents and help the unskilled ones to gain adequate knowledge through training and involvement in the whole process.

The signing of the MOU was witnessed by top government functionaries including the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Taiwo Adeoluwa, Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mrs. Abimbola Akeredolu, Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Alhaji Yusuph Olaniyonu as well as the Chinese Consul-General, Liu Xian Fa, among others.

Project inspection on the 4th of June 2013 (three weeks ago) and there is no let up to the construction and new built deliveries. Below, while haters remain here lying, are also comments by real stakeholder, in this month of June we are in, showing why Amosun enjoys high approval ratings from his own citizens and end users of all he is delivering. Is it not scary for Nigeria that it is non-stakeholders, like the OP, always fully consumed with trying to get end users to hate and vilify leaders delivering for them? Well, I am showing what Ogun folks are seeing and saying. Anyone is free to believe those whose previous post reveal their unequivocal and unobjective hatred of others.
