HzRF: OK Since u think we SW vote is lock down for u Hope u won't come here to lament DAT u are rigged out What would the SW be voting for if they support GEJ? More deaths? Greater darkness? Worsening poverty? Infrastructural incapacity? Monumental corruption? Brazen government-abetted scams? Bigger unemployment headaches for millions of our youths to include graduates with no jobs 5 years after graduating? In short, more "suffering and smiling"? The SW is not affiliated with GEJ by ethnicity and thus owe him nothing. We do not want revenge against anyone either and certainly do not wish to support a 100% proven misruler because we perversely want to see him turn Nigeria into a failed nation. To that end we can inspect GEJ dispassionately on what he has delivered over the 5 years he has been President and that alone. The overwhelming conclusion then is that GEJ has failed woefully far more than all others before him. In free and fair elections GEJ will lose overwhelmingly in the SW. Ask yourself, if an honest person, why it is the SW that GEJ immediately moved to woo after they postponed the election. Why has GEJ virtually relocated to Lagos to begin a dollars 'charm offensive'? Why is it almost entirely about the SW daily for the PDP, after the election postponement, if the ruling Party is secure about its chances in the region? Continue fooling yourself. The truth on the ground is that the SW has rejected GEJ because he is a huge failure whose Presidency has delivered virtually no benefit to the region. The PDP itself know this and this is why they are literally trying to buy kings, influential folks and opinion leaders in the region desperately before March 28. |

omenka: Every hustler jostling for their own share ot the you-know-what.
What I read is: S-west youths punk Jonathan. They are indeed 'punking' GEJ . It is the overwhelming loss in the SW the PDP foresaw that made them to postpone the election. This is the one region they think can save GEJ and this is why Jonathan, after the election postponement, has virtually relocated to Lagos to begin a 'dollar rain' on everyone in the SW he thinks can help him buy votes. Only fools will take these insincere endorsement seriously. SW folks, in the majority, want change from the GEJ-led status quo. It is as simple as that and anyone deceiving GEJ about 'endorsement' is just 'chopping' his own share of the dollars our desperate President is sharing freely. |

The All-Nigeria Save Democracy Movement, ANSADEM, that petitioned the Senate against Senator Musiliu Obanikoro two weeks ago, gathered well meaning Nigerians and the media together at the Centre for Constitutional Governance, CCG, Ilupeju, Lagos, on Tuesday, March 3,2015 to launch the release of 200,000 DVDs of the ‘Ekitigate’ Video, discuss the state of democracy in Nigeria, the danger signals ahead of the forthcoming elections and the need for urgent collective mass actions by Nigerians.
Convener of the meeting, Comrade Adebayo M. Adebayo described the abuse of the military at the Ekitigate scandal where the Nigerian Army was relegated to the role of an army of riggers and a Brigadier-General reduced to an errand boy of dubious politicians. More disturbing on this case, Adebayo said, was the silence of the Nigerian Army concerning the audio drama in Ekiti State.
ANSADEM expressed dismay that the gladiators in the midst of Ekitigate scandal are still in the corridors of power. |

This man is an example of what most ambitious nation would call an "outstanding citizen". He has eschewed personalised bitterness/vendetta and placed the love of his nation above everything else. I often say it that Nigeria's biggest problem is her very difficult people. If most Nigerians were patriotic like this man, rather than being bitter, ethnocentric and vengeful elements, then Nigeria would be a great nation today because we would all have no problem voting in good leaders and voting out bad ones who let us down. |

Any sensible person will know that the desperation of Fayose is not 'normal'. I would urge the APC not to take Fayose lightly because he is a character who can literally do anything, and I mean anything, to get his way. There is a lot that cannot be said publicly suffice to say Fayose is not a nice person or an 'omoluabi' at all. There are many in the PDP like Fayose and APC should not take the protection of Buhari lightly. They have already tried to assassinate him lately and with the desperation of the likes of Fayose growing as we approach elections then the APC should not take anything for granted. |

conclusion. Our nation’s survival first That was many years ago and since I have focused on re-building my life and raising my family. I have prayed and tried hard to forgive my unjust tormentors but I know that the scar is there and people like Lola Shoneyin stroke that weak point now and again, albeit unwittingly. Obviously this is not an experience that can be wished away because it evidently affected my being and changed my life fundamentally. It makes me appreciate people like Mandela so much – 26 years on Robben Island (have you been there?) and he came out with no bitterness and no guile! Such men are rare! Understandably then, it has taken some effort for me to embrace Buhari’s candidacy. I have never voted for him. I did not even like him. But as my friend, Audu Ogbeh said to me once, “so much has gone wrong with our polity that our emphasis now must not be on ourselves but on the survival of the nation.” I have no doubt he is right. This is a time when the overriding interest must be that of the country. As a student of history, I know that while constitutions can be copied and adopted, in the end every nation will only learn by its national experience. The history of many of the democracies we admire today is replete with unimaginable and odious occurrences that characterised their development. It is obvious to me that the trust we reposed in President Jonathan in 2011 has been wantonly squandered. The sobering state of our nation and real politik has made me take another look at Gen Buhari. How viable is he for our polity given the available options? Is the General the devil he is portrayed to be, or a victim of circumstances or a misunderstood individual?
Jonathan, a disappointment To me, President Jonathan has been such a disappointment in many critical areas of our national life. There has been unprecedented violence and bloodletting under this administration, which, naively in my view, treated the Boko Haram insurgency with kid gloves and a total lack of resolve. Today, Boko Haram has established a formidable force and has succeeded, before our very eyes, in changing the map of Nigeria. The President appears to have turned deaf ears to the voices of wisdom and surrounded himself with cronies, whose main pre-occupation is to exploit him. Some of his spokesmen have made a virtue of rascality and turned public relations upside down. Miscreants, who should be in jail for their past deeds, are the ones now threatening that our collective vote must go a particular way or there will be insurrection. We never heard of “democracy” at gunpoint till now. To the discerning, it is clear that the Boko Haram insurgency has been employed as a source of inscrutable abuse, or how else do we explain a Nigerian private plane filled with raw US dollars being impounded abroad? How many such plane-loads escaped without being caught is anybody’s guess, yet our troops are said to be so ill-equipped that the insurgents have better arms. All this, despite the huge sums that have been voted for defence under this administration; one wonders where all that money went. Then the massive corruption in every sphere of public office – pension funds stuffed into pillows and mattresses among others. The disgusting state pardon for a man, who, before an incredulous world, broke the terms to a court order and left Britain dressed as a woman! This is not how a leader should exercise such hallowed prerogative power. The President’s conduct sent a chilling message down the spine of the polity that corruption and stealing are the way to go. You can add to that the company of shady men wanted abroad for all manner of crimes, including drug offences, who have been installed in positions of leadership in the PDP or have been fielded as senatorial candidates. The management or lack of it of our foreign reserves (which have become totally depleted) and reports of billions of missing dollars dominate the air. Everybody who is working hard is in trouble. Joblessness has risen to record levels. The youths are, justifiably restless because they have no future in the present dispensation. The tales of woe are just endless. Billions of dollars have disappeared into petroleum subsidy, yet, even the cost of kerosene, the poor man’s fuel, is at an all-time high. It is the oil sheiks that are being subsidised not the ordinary people. To say the ship of state is clearly adrift in Nigeria is an understatement. A land that should be flowing with milk and honey has become the laughing stock of the international community. We simply can no longer tolerate this grotesque level of gluttony and of corruption. There is an urgent need for a change. Otherwise, we face a huge problem and social dislocation ahead, beyond what we already have.
Buhari means well These are the reasons why I have embraced Buhari. If you look at his past, and some of the statements credited to him, he is not an easy man for a person like me to embrace. But 30 years is a long time and I honestly believe he has had enough time to reflect and to change. He is no more a military officer. He has retained a sharp, social conscience for the people. I am impressed with the hunger with which he has fought for elections. I want to believe that it is out of an earnest desire to work for the people and to do some things right that Gen Buhari has struggled so hard to win the nation’s leadership through the electoral process. While he may not be a saint, he is certainly not a villain. His choice of a very good man in Prof Yemi Osinbajo, for a Vice President gave me the assurance that Gen Buhari was listening to the comments on his areas of weakness. There are enough checks and balances in a democratic set up to make fears of a return to dictatorship a joke. I am also impressed by his modest lifestyle, unlike many of his ilk who live in opulence and indulgence. This says something about the man. I can trust this man with my wallet in a way i cannot do with Jonathan, who appears to have forgotten where he came from. Jonathan has lost the golden opportunity to fundamentally affect the lives of the ordinary folks. I am persuaded that it will be a tragedy for us to continue in this drift for another four years. While Buhari is far from being my ideal candidate and I worry about some of his deficiencies, my perception is that although he may be short on the skills required for the modern management of a state – technology, economic management among others – his record shows that he has the ability to enlist support. I hope this time; he will choose the right people and avoid those who will use his name to do iniquity. While Buhari may not be the ideal candidate we need, he is, certainly the best we have. There is a time in the history of a nation when an individual is needed to rescue it or perform a historic role. As it was with Winston Churchill who provided Britain with the much needed war-time leadership, Gen Charles de Gaulle who restored the confidence of France, Madiba Nelson Mandela of South Africa, who championed the cause of majority rule and showed the way to national reconciliation and our own Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo, who provided leadership to a country on the brink after the Abacha years, my belief is that this is the hour for Muhammadu Buhari to stop the torment of a hemorrhaging nation and restore its confidence. Lastly, the General owes me one. I will still like Buhari to vocalise an apology and offer some succour to people like me whom his government brutalised in the past. It is the least he can do. To do so is not weakness. Indeed, it is strength to admit the mistakes of the past and to promote national reconciliation. For now, even ahead of the apology, and in the national interest, i have thrown in my hat with Gen. Buhari. So has Lola Shoneyin’s father. Now 87, but still spritely and alert, my big brother and comrade, Tinuoye Shoneyin, always a big heart, is enthusiastically by my side at political rallies and party support meetings. Our jailer has become our hope. Life is indeed nothing if not an agglomeration of ironies. |

http://www.osundefender.org/?p=222720‘#Jonathan, a disappointment- #Buhari my jailer is now our hope’ – says Adefulu
A Lagos lawyer, Adeyemi Adefulu, who was jailed by Gen. Muhammadu Buhari 30 years ago, says the former Head of State remains the country’s hope for change. Adefulu, a Member of the Federal Republic (MFR), believes Gen. Buhari is on a rescue mission.
I found Lola Shoneyin’s piece on Buhari titled: “How My Father’s Jailer Can Offer Nigeria A Fresh Start” very engaging, although it dredged up some very painful memories. It took me down the memory lane; indeed, it was a vivid reminder of an awful road on which l, and others like Audu Ogbeh, now an ardent Buhari backer, travelled. It was my painful duty as the “Captain” of the detainees, to receive Lola’s father, Tinuoye Shoneyin, an engineer, into the Abeokuta prison and to make him as comfortable as possible in the extremely difficult prison environment, providing him with clothes, a towel and toiletries. Shoneyin had, as a matter of courtesy, responded to the invitation of the government of Ogun State, then led by Col Oladipo Diya, who later became the deputy to Gen. Sani Abacha(the late Head of State), to answer some questions and had expected to be back home that evening. He was not to return home for six months! Lola’s account dwelt on the torture that she (at such a young age) and her family had to endure and the telling effect of such an experience on the family. Many detainees never recovered from the torture and the injustice that this experience represented. In many cases, mine included, there was no accusation, much less a charge. One slight misstatement in Lola’s account was that the detention was at the behest of Col. Tunde Idiagbon, the erstwhile deputy to Gen Buhari. I doubt if that is quite true. The problem with autocracy is that once the atmosphere has been established, or allowed by the leader, many tin gods at the various levels of the strata will for any number of reasons, exploit the situation for the purpose of settling personal and petty scores, including disputations over girlfriends! So, in the case of Lola’s father, the local despot at the time was Col Oladipo Diya, who was mean, brutal and sadistic and locked up as many people as he wanted, for good, bad or sometimes no reason at all. He flogged civil servants for lateness, taxed the people on every imaginable score, and signed for nearly 20 people who had been sentenced to death (none of whom his predecessor permitted to be killed), to be executed by hanging in one day. He reveled in making people suffer wherewith he was promptly given the name of “Kunya” (meaning tormentor which was the direct opposite of what his name “Diya” means in Yoruba language. He was, indeed, the harbinger of torment and suffering. He, it was who saw a ghost in every situation. If the sun was too bright, he blamed it on the dethroned politicians. He was a cruel task-master, who tried irrationally to get water out of stone. At a stage he rounded up contractors who had done various jobs for the state government and dictated that they should either pay certain arbitrary fines or be locked up in prison.
In jail for 18 months I was in the gulag for 18 months, 16 of which I spent in the Abeokuta prison. Prior to this time, I had presided over three ministries in four years and three months. There was never an accusation or a charge of any sort against me. His investigators were surprised at how clean my affairs were and how I could succinctly explain every transaction I was involved in, including providing photocopies of cheques that even pre-dated my appointment. “Were you expecting that this type of thing would happen? Why did you leave a thriving law practice for a job like this?” they asked me repeatedly. Therein lies the dilemma of our country that needs good people to preside over its affairs, yet castigates the few who dare to get in the fray. “The punishment for the wise, who refuse to take part in the government of their people,” said a Greek philosopher, “is to be ruled by fools.” I came to understand that Diya’s grouse with me was that I was so close to the late Chief Olabisi Onabanjo, my governor, and that there was no way of getting Onabanjo without getting Adefulu, his political son and confidant! “Onabanjo did nothing Adefulu did not know of,” Diya was reported to have said repeatedly. So l had to be purged! Oluokun, the head of state security, himself a dastardly character, was Diya’s hatchet man. When all efforts at intimidation and harassment failed, they changed tactics and tried to recruit me as an informant against the late Onabanjo. It soon became clear to them however, that I was not going to be party to their pursuit of crass injustice and motive hunting. I asked Oluokun pointedly to cock his gun and shoot and kill me because under no circumstances would I be part of such villainy. In any case, unless I wanted to become a liar, such incriminating evidence did not exist except in the figment of Diya’s convoluted imagination. The late Onabanjo was the quintessential leader – open, fair-minded, as straight as a spoke and a great lover of the people; a man who, to this day, several years after his demise, I still hold in the highest regard.
Time heals Genevieve Magazine At the time of my incarceration, my family was at a more delicate stage than the Shoneyins, because it was younger and less endowed. My first son Adeoye, was just under 10 years and our last daughter, Dayo was three months old. I was 37 years old at the time of the coup. My family was subjected to a long and extremely humiliating deprivation. It was the unjust compensation I received for a job to which I gave the very best of my life at a very young age (try as you may, such injustice never leaves you. The wound may heal but the scar is there and sometimes stares you in the face). I tried hard to be strong and for the most part, I was. The knowledge that I had served with the very best of my ability in a job I truly enjoyed, gave me peace of mind and assurance. The open and vocal agitation of many well-meaning citizens, including Prof Wole Soyinka, for my release was an act of grace for which I will forever be grateful. The only time I broke down was the day my son, Adeoye, turned 10. With a smuggled recorder, I had recorded a birthday message for him and his young siblings admonishing them to be strong in the knowledge that God was on our side. After recording the message, I wept profusely. It was terrible! My co-prisoners, including my Deputy Governor, the late Chief Sesan Soluade, and the present Emir of Suleija, Alhaji Anwal Ibrahim, the erstwhile Governor of Niger State, and the others, tried hard to console me. I had been the strong one, the encourager of the brethren, but I guess the cup had become too full and it ran over. While time heals, the impact of such injustice endures. It leaves a telling effect which you carry for the rest of your life. Ironically, when I was finally released, I was in hospital where I had just undergone an emergency operation. Liberty had come at last but it met me totally broken and incapacitated. At my release and after, no one offered any apology for this gruesome and very unjust recompense. Nobody, without due process, should ever have the power to visit such humiliation and injustice on any human being. The irony of dictatorship is that a leader can be so conscientiously wrong in his crusading mission. The Buhari regime was very wrong in my case as in the case of several others. I, along with many others, had come into office with the purest motive of service. It was what I had always wanted to do. I thought it was my life’s mission and when the opportunity came I did the work as if my life depended on it. I left a lucrative practice to serve my people. I was totally accountable, yet I was unfairly thrown into jail for no just cause for 18 months! |

http://dailyindependentnig.com/2015/02/fayose-working-polls-says-fayemi/Fayose working against polls, says Fayemi
Former Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, has alleged that Governor Ayo Fayose is one of the few cabals plotting to thwart the general elections. Featuring on a live programme, on Adaba FM, christened, “APC Change Hour”, monitored by Daily Independent in Ado-Ekiti, Fayemi said Fayose is more desperate than President Goodluck Jonathan, who is seeking re-election. He explained that Fayose is prepared to do anything to ensure the re-election of Jonathan in the presidential election. According to him, the recent political activities of his successor (Fayose), Fayemi said the governor is desperate because he (Fayose) is fighting a battle of his life because of alleged atrocities recently committed. His words: “Fayose is fighting for his life. He is more desperate than Jonathan and he believes that all his atrocities will come to haunt him. The judges that were beaten; the legislature that was sacked, the civil servants that were harassed. “They are now using the military to rig elections and Nigerians must be vigilant. It is when the situation cannot be handled by the Police that you call in the military. “If you hear what Captain Koli said, he said they were given instructions (to rig Ekiti polls). Chris Uba, who is not a military officer giving order to military officers. “It was soldiers that drove vehicles that conveyed PDP members to arrest APC members. Our members were arrested and they were not released until the election was over.” He said the postponement was about a “desperate government and a desperate President that is afraid of a loss and using a military that became a willing tool.” The former governor said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led administration was trying to re-enact the rigging perpetrated in Ekiti with the alleged misuse of the military at the forthcoming general elections. Fayemi stressed that the upper echelon of the military was guilty of treason against the state with its role in the dramatic postponement of the polls, saying the first duty of the government through the armed forces is security of lives and property. He deplored a situation in which the military institution has been desecrated in which army generals are being harassed and intimidated by politicians desperate to rig elections for their party. |

He mocked Buhari as "quarter to go" yet the icy fingers of death has taken him before buhari who may well live longer than the grandchildren of this dead man. The lesson is that people should mind their wicked and evil utterance. Wishing death upon others, all in the name of politics, is the most vile things anyone can do. In Yoruba culture it is a big no-no and this is what Amosun told the uncouth and thuggish Fayose. Anyway let the vile Nigerians carry on wishing others death when such may come to their door first as has happened with this dead man. |

The leaders looters who have equally been to these working societies, are regretably just too wicked and greedy to improve the lots of the country and thus prefer to continue in their stealing "which is not corruption".
The followers have been conditioned to accept mediocre performance. They are "hypnotized" to sing their praise for the exchange of "a plate of porridge" or "protection" as the case may be.
It is really sad for the Nigerian youth! 1000% correct. Like many examples given here already, many of the die-hard supporters of Jonathan unfortunately are also at the receiving end of his poor leadership. Their reasons for supporting him are religion, ethnicity and getting direct benefit from the looting that goes on. Never based on his performance because the much touted performance cannot stand scrutiny test.
To them, I say GEJ till they get sense. Indeed. I don't know how a people can be in so much pain, almost more than others in any other nation worldwide, yet still be asking their oppressor to demean, plunder and molest them harder instead of agitate for the removal of those wickedly deviant leaders ASAP. 100 years later Nigeria is a mes, absolute mess and in this modern day the politicians are brazen with their activities, not an intelligent set, yet they successfully scam and dupe 170million people on a daily basis.
They insult us with propaganda and promises while Nigerians are living in the very darkness they have caused. This is what annoys me the most. I don't blame them - they have never experienced the benefits of having a truly efficient and ambitious government. Actually thats a lie, Nigeria leaders have been very efficient at enriching themselves and competitive with the amount of money each officer is able to steal. This is the crux of the matter. Some Nigerians have now had their thinking and mentality warped by bad governance they do not even realise that they are supporting their own greater enslavement. dein77: The last time I checked, our problems didn't start in 2010. People like you make me laugh. Who told you GEJ started our problem? The point any intelligent and sensible adult accept is that GEJ is currently President and has led Nigeria for 5 years in a period where, courtesy of oil selling at $100-$110 per barrel, he received by far the greatest accrual of income available to a Nigerian President since we became a sovereign nation. What is his own effort and unique approach towards solving our perennial power woes? Sadly for his apologists, like you, GEJ could only deliver a crony capitalism scam packaged as "power privatisation". Under this 419 scheme, involving the same set of AGIPs who have run Nigeria into the ground over decades, Nigerians now pay far more yet experience only greater darkness and worsening supply. GEJ has failed. There is no way to spin that and no critically-thinking adult will reason as you do vis-a-vis your quip about "our problems didn't start in 2010". Leaders get elected to deliver solutions not to worsen things only to then feebly say "the problem pre-dates me". This is even worse in the case of GEJ who made all manners of promises about "delivering stable electricity within four years" when he was seeking the votes of Nigerians in 2010-2011. |

More details are emerging about the corrupt deals of Nigeria’s Attorney General and Justice Minister Mohammed Bello Adoke – as well as the man’s mind-boggling deposits in numerous bank accounts.
Some 24-hours after an online news website, ireports-ng.com, published details of Mr. Adoke’s multi-million dollars in secret bank accounts, Nigeria's controversial attorney general admitted to another website that he in fact owns accounts in the banks reported by the website.
Mr. Adoke told Pointblanknews that he indeed owns the accounts, but claimed the deposits in the said accounts were not up to the amounts published by Ireports-ng.
“I have accounts with FCMB and Diamond Banks. I have a salary account with Intercontinental Bank and these are the only accounts I have been operating since I was appointed Attorney-General,” he told Pointblanknews.com. Then he added: “But the accounts in the said banks are far, far lower than the figures they are peddling.”
But the minister’s attempt to understate his staggering cash holdings has triggered more revelations of his financial shenanigans. iReports.ng has released more devastating information about Mr. Adoke’s ties to and financial involvement with several companies that have ripped Nigerians off in fuel subsidy scams.
The site reported that some of Mr. Adoke's close allies, infuriated with his despicable role to put down the on-going nationwide strike in the country, have provided documents that lay bare the minister's stupendous wealth hidden in over 25 blue chip companies in Nigeria – including firms that have reaped fraudulent profits from the contentious oil subsidy funds.
A rundown of the documents made available to ireports-ng.com reveal that Mr. Adoke is a major investor in Oando Oil, a firm that gulped down more than N228 billion out of the N1.4 trillion shared by about 100 oil marketers between January and August, 2011. The website’s investigation indicated that the Justice Minister owns an investment of about N1.5 billion in Oando Oil PLC.
Other documents also show that Mr. Adoke has a major investment stake in Eterna Oil which raked in about N5.57 billion from the fuel subsidy bonanza. In addition to N1 billion investment in Eterna, the minister also has N2 billion tucked in a company called Novasys Ltd.
A top-level political source in Abuja who is close to President Goodluck Jonathan told SaharaReporters today that the attorney general’s cozy relationship with some of the oil marketers was the reason the government has refused to pursue the option of prosecuting fraudulent profiteers who have cheated Nigerians of hundreds of billions of naira in the name of fuel subsidy.
“Mohammed [Adoke] and others in government are getting their share of the subsidy funds – and that’s why nobody is talking about trying those defrauding the system,” said the source.
Mr. Adoke’s corrupt deals also extend to the banking, telecommunications and real estate sectors. Reliable informants reveal that the minister has extensive investments in major banks in the country. Some of them include about N400 million in Oceanic Bank; N200 million in UAC properties; about N20 million in Guaranty Trust Bank; about N360 million in Access Bank; about $400,000 US dollars in MTN; about N1 billion in Japaul Oil & Maritime; about N15 million in Bank PHB; about N100 million in First Bank; about N20 million in FCMB, and about N6 million in Unity Bank PLC.
Saharareporters had earlier exposed Mr. Adoke’s central role in pushing the Central Bank of Nigeria to pay a businessman and associate of the minister an outrageous sum to purchase a NITEL property that the businessman had bought cheap from the government.
Following our earlier report about the minister’s bank accounts, a source in one of the banks revealed that Mr. Adoke had initiated moves to deplete his funds in the bank.
Other sources disclosed that Mr. Adoke owns more than 30 luxury vehicles that he has purchased in the last three years alone. In addition he owns several landed properties in Abuja. A source in the Ministry of Justice told SaharaReporters “it is well known that the minister collects money, cars and cash from individuals and corporations on whose behalf he subverts the course of justice.”
Saharareporters has consistently revealed that Mr. Adoke has distinguished himself as one of the most fraudulent and corrupt ministers in the Jonathan regime. His immersion in corruption follows a trend set by disgraced former Attorney General Michael Aondoakaa.
Like Mr. Aondoakaa, who was close to former Supreme Court Justice Aloysius Katsina- Alu, the current AGF used his closeness to the same (now retired) justice to secure his place in President Jonathan’s cabinet. Through his closeness to the notoriously corrupt Katsina-Alu, Mr. Adoke fixed the apex court’s verdict upholding Mr. Jonathan’s election as president.
Our political sources said the president is as indebted to Adoke as the late President Umaru Yar’adua was to Aondoakaa.
A source described Adoke as “one of President Jonathan's most powerful ministers,” adding that the minister is “a core member of the president’s kitchen cabinet.” |

BY JOE IGBOKWE MAR 05, 2015
When the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, said at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on return from an overseas trip in September 2012 that with the exit of Professor Bart Nnaji as Minister of Power the Goodluck Jonathan administration had destroyed Nigeria’s electric power sector, apologists of the regime accused him of crying wolf where none existed. But it has become crystal clear now that Asiwaju Tinubu’s statement was prescient.
The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has now alerted the whole nation to the fact that over 70% of industrial concerns in the country could collapse anytime from now because of grossly insufficient power supply across the country and the arbitrary increase in electricity tariff which the National Electricity Regulatory Commission(NERC) approved for the 11 distribution companies to charge from last month, based on the thinking that the 2015 general election would hold in February.
While NERC approved only a 24% hike, the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has been charging hapless commercial concerns in the Southeast geopolitical zone a whopping 94% increase. Consequently, manufacturing firms like Innosons Motors, which are forced to pay N100m monthly each to the EEDC are on the verge of collapse, with over a million employees thrown into the labour market. Since manufacturing firms in the Southeast now pay much higher than their counterparts elsewhere in the country, they are under pressure to relocate to other parts of the nation, according to the chairman of the Kotek Group, Chief Chika Emelike, who is based in Nnewi, Anambra State, where he manufactures Tummy Tummy noodles, among other products. At no point in our national history have manufacturers been faced with a gloomy future as much as under Jonathan.
What is clear to all Nigerians is that the outgoing President Goodluck Jonathan government has finally run the power sector aground. The country has been generating less than 4,000 megawatts of electricity, but the current Minister of Power, Professor Chinedu Nebo, a serving high Anglican priest, has been compelled to tell lies serially to the effect that 4,500MW is generated. The amount of electricity clamed is still about 1,000MW less than the quantum of power the country was producing when Prof Nnaji left office in August, 2012.
The present generation level of less than 4,000MW is a far cry from the 10,000-15,000MW promised in the Road Map for Power Sector Reform, which Jonathan launched with fanfare in Lagos on August 26, 2010. Thermal power plants are routinely commissioned even where there is no molecule of gas, examples being the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP) stations in Geregu, Kogi State, and Omotoso, Ondo State. The leadership of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources which is responsible for gas is not interested in gas issues because it does not bring humungous and immediate private benefits like crude oil swap and subsidy payment.
The nation’s transmission network is in a total mess. It is too weak to wheel even the paltry 3,800MW currently generated during peak period. The board of the government-controlled Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has been the hotbed of intrigues and politics which owes to avarice, resulting in two chairmen and two chief executives in one year.
Practically all operators in the now privatized power sector are in the throes of death because the assumptions upon which they participated in the privatization bid do not obtain. The generation companies have little gas from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to fire their plants to full capacity. The transmission infrastructure cannot transport the limited quantity of power available to different parts of the country on account of ageing and poorly maintained facilities. Therefore, distribution companies do not have reasonable quantum of power to sell to the public and generate reasonable revenue. Yet, the government has forced these struggling firms to pledge a donation of N5billion to its reelection campaign fund based on a promise announced by the Minister of Petroleum Resources last September 30 to grant the operators a facility of N213billion.
The whole nation is amazed at how Jonathan has given the power sector reform a very bad name. In the name of privatization, for instance, assets of the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) have been handed over to cronies of the outgoing regime, rather than the best organizations which bidded for them. The privatization of the Enugu and Kano electricity distribution companies readily comes to mind. The financial and technical capacities of the so-called winners are nothing to write home about. The Jonathan government blatantly flouted its own rules on the privatization of PHCN assets.
Under Jonathan the Nigerian nation is facing its worst electricity crisis ever. Power outages now last for several days across the country; and whenever there is electricity the quality is embarrassingly poor. Yet, the people are being made to pay through their nose every month. The promise of providing prepaid metres to our long suffering and exploited people has remained a mirage, like any other pledge by the outgoing government. It is the moral responsibility of every Nigerian who wants to save this country from imminent collapse to vote out this ineffective, inefficient and very corrupt regime on March 28. A new order will emerge not just in the electric power sector but also in all facets of our national life. We have no other country than Nigeria. We must salvage it together. Signed: Joe igbokwe

PassingShot: Everything about Jona is corruption and looting.
APC is doing a very good job at exposing all their plans even before they get to hatch them.
Getting Buhari disqualified is surely impossible for them at this stage except someone is ready to be Gbagboed in the process.
The desperation of a sinking Jona is capable of taking Nigeria through another civil war. We all know Jonathan is nothing but a self-serving, unprincipled and highly callous corruption guru. Look at how he was happy to let Boko Haram thrive for five years, gain territory and kill over 15,000.00 Nigerians yet they are now conveniently "fighting" Boko Haram after the 'postponement' of an election they were on course to lose disgracefully. Look at the crony capitalism scam Jonathan packaged for Nigeria as "power privatisation" which is only delivering darkness? Look at the 'monetisation' destruction of the Army GEJ has supervised where Fayose and Obanikoro can threaten a senior Army officer as if he is their houseboy. That Jonathan and his minions are very wicked agents of chaos, division and regression is not in doubt. What must remain in the heart of Nigerians is the resolve to banish these evil set of people spending all Nigeria's money, meant to better the lives of the people, on perpetuating themselves in power. |

BY SAHARAREPORTERS, NEW YORK MAR 04, 2015
An investigation by SaharaReporters has revealed that Nigeria’s Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Adoke, is the secret instigator of myriads of lawsuits that aim to scuttle Nigeria’s general elections. The elections, which were originally scheduled to start on February 14, 2015, were postponed till March 28. The postponement followed a series of maneuvers by the Presidency and top security officials determined to see to it that President Goodluck Jonathan is re-elected.
Last week, SaharaReporters revealed that the attorney general had filed sworn affidavits in support of one of the lawsuits in which an amorphous group, Society for Advancement and Protection of Public Rights, sued the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as well as the AGF. The lawsuit asked an Abuja high court to bar INEC from using card readers for the 2015 elections.
Embarrassed by our revelation, Mr. Adoke, one of the closest associates of Mr. Jonathan, issued a statement claiming that the officers who swore to the affidavits did not consult with him before filing the affidavits that supported the plaintiff in the case. He said that the concerned officers would be issued a query.
However, our investigation revealed that, since issuing a retraction, the AGF had not sent a query to the officers as he promised. A judicial source revealed to our correspondent that Mr. Adoke was yet to withdraw the affidavits, adding that he had not sworn to a counter affidavit.
Two of the lawyers involved in the case told SaharaReporters that Mr. Adoke’s actions and inactions clearly show that the AGF was the point man of a team of legal experts President Jonathan has assembled and given the task of using legal tactics to ensure that the 2015 elections do not hold.
A source at the Presidency told SaharaReporters categorically that Mr. Adoke was just lying about his involvement. According to the source, the AGF had received and was solely managing the disbursement of a war chest of N2 billion provided by President Jonathan to enable Mr. Adoke to recruit a retinue of groups to file lawsuits aimed at further postponement of the elections, their termination, or the disqualification of Muhammadu Buhari, the main opposition candidate. So far, persons or groups funded by Mr. Adoke have filed fifteen lawsuits related to the elections.
In an interesting case our sources said exposed Mr. Adoke’s hand, a Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday declined to grant an application for interim injunction against card readers in a case brought by four registered political parties. The lawyer who represented the plaintiffs was Alex Iziyon, Mr. Adoke’s longstanding business partner and co-owner of a private jet charter company, Izzy Air, based in Abuja. SaharaReporters learned that the case was funded by Bolaji Ayorinde, the chairman of the governing board of the Nigerian Legal Aid Council, an appointee of Mr. Adoke who is also one of the lawyers on the legal team with Iziyon to shut down that voter cards reader program. |

I cannot allow GEJ to spend a day longer in aso rock than may 29.Its a mortal sin to allow it! Bruv, you don't have to explain yourself to clowns and simple-minded m0r0ns who focus on personalities instead of issues. Are we here to discuss where fellow Nairalanders live and their personal circumstances or to talk of issues that will lead to a better Nigeria? Politics › Re: PDP Is Already Displaced, Jonathan Is Going Down!! by Gbawe: 9:35am On Mar 02, 2015 |
@OP.
I agree with your reasoning. The bottom line is that APC has far more naturally brilliant leaders and strategists than the PDP. While the PDP may have bottomless finance, courtesy of the wealth of Nigeria, the APC has bottomless intellectual talent and depth. It is the natural home of the most talented Nigerians who are seeking a platform to use in contributing their share towards the development of Nigeria. Whereas the PDP is home to the greediest mercenaries and empty barrels in Nigeria who would never be allowed to lead a village community centre in civilised climes. Whatever the PDP spend will always be neutralised and bettered by the strategic thinking and planning of the APC 'big' brains like Fayemi, El Rufai, Fashola, Okechukwu et al. The APC is the ruling Party in waiting because it is an aggregate alliance of those who deserve to lead plus have the passion and talent to take Nigeria to the next level.
As two examples taken from the top of the tree, how can any sane person compare ascetic and disciplined Buhari to Jonathan who is nothing but a very corrupt spendthrift and callously unprincipled man? How can one compare the highly refined Osinbajo to the religious bigot and divisive character that is Namadi Sambo? It is obvious Nigerians, if they know what is good for them, have only one viable option. That option is the APC. 16 years is enough for all sane Nigerians to understand that the PDP has nothing to offer and will continue misruling Nigeria for the next 60 years if allowed to do so. |

Are you people not ashamed of yourselves? Do you not have wonderful, wise, exemplary and productive elders in your family? Perhaps God has cursed you and this is why you do not have elders you can look up to in your family and thus have the effrontery to come here and tell us a 72 year old person is senile.
Like it or not, you will get to 72 someday. I hope those younger than you then chain you and lock you up in a room 24/7 because they have pronounced you senile on account of your age alone. The senile behaviour of Fan-Kayode and Fayose , in contrast to Buhari's dignified conduct, shows any young person that age is but a number that holds no limitations against our personal efficacy, drive and productivity. |

OP, you are correct 100%. How, as one example, could any sensible adult be supporting a man whose approach to solving our power woes has now unravelled as a cynical and destructive crony capitalism scam packaged as "power privatisation"? Nigerians are experiencing more darkness than ever because of the scamming nature and callousness of Jonathan. How is that anything other than failure? Who, in a profit-driven company, would be allowed to keep a job after it is 100% established that they can only make bad situations worse? |

slap1: Apostle Johnson Suleiman is not a hungry man. His prophecies are to be taken seriously. Thankfully he has prayed against it. I believe he is. Whether you agree or not, the fact is that genuine religious leaders worldwide do their work in the background without seeking attention. It is in Nigeria, and other over-religious nations full of gullible and oppressed citizens, that attention-seeking charlatan come out to tell us they have prayed to "avert" this and that. If you have done so and all is well then why go public with your thoughts? Those who genuinely believe in the advancement of humanity, whether their chosen field is religion or political leadership, never seek glory and attention for themselves. |

Seaen: These "prophets" are actually in cohort with the devil and the evil ones who reveal to them the evil things they are planning to unleash. Have you ever considered why they never have positive prophesies. It is not from God because God does not plan evil. Thank you. This is what I said earlier. They never see anything beneficial. God never reveals anything positive and transformational to them. It is only to tell us who will die and impending chaos their prayers alone can 'avert'. It is always about scaremongering an over-religious , poverty-riddled, superstitiously scared and spiritually insecure people for the sake of greater personal influence and popularity. I really feel sad for Nigeria and her people. They truly do not appreciate what obtains elsewhere as the norm while they remain in bondage under leaders who use religion without a love for the ways of God. |

To be honest, it will be tragic if Nigerians miss the chance to elect the duo of Buhari and Osinbajo. like for GMB/PYO2015 and share for GEJ/PEJ otuoke Journey2015 Don't mind them. Nigerians are simply too over-religious. Many never engage their common sense to see what must be seen. The prophecy of this "pastor" is fake same as is that of Oyedepo, T B Joshua et al. Do Nigerians ever ask themselves why these pastors always have vision in relation to politics, famous Nigerians, leaders and trending topics but God can never show them what really matters and is important/transformational for the human race and/or Nigerians? Why has God never shown any pastor a 'cocktail' to cure ebola that is decimating Africans? Why has God not shown them precisely where Shekau is hiding? Why do they never see huge impending scams against against Nigeria like the fuel subsidy fraud? Why has God never shown a single pastor a 'masterprint' of leadership that will take Nigeria to the promise land? These hopeless charlatan are never shown what can advance the lives of common Nigerians yet they are always 'seeing' amebo vision and scaremongering negativity they know gullible Nigerians will fret over while their own popularity is enhanced. These Pastors are all disgusting and I consider them the lowest of the low because they are exploitative and egotistical without thinking of the damage their attention-seeking drama causes for gullible folks ready to believe anything since religion and belief in some 'divine intervention' is the only hope a badly oppressed people can hold on to within an environment that does not empower them even minimally to help themselves. They are like bad and perverted parents who take advantage of their own children they should be protecting. This 'jeun jeun' Pastor will mourn before others do. There will be no mourning in the APC because a good God will not sanction what will prolong the molestation and suffering of Nigerians. |

To be honest, I think the saying is correct that " a people get the leader they deserve". It must be said, from the conduct and utterances of many, that Nigerians deserve the misrule they are experiencing. How can some be backing Fayose when he is neglecting governance and busy spending money promoting a campaign of hate and evil against GMB? Did his Party not ask for "issue-based" campaign?
Instead Fayose is openly playing dirty politics while wishing death and all manner of ailments on Buhari. This is politics without decency that shames Nigeria and portray us as savages to neutral observers. Nigeria will be liberated from this vile and desperate gang by God's grace. With a decent President in charge, i.e one that does not promote divisiveness and thuggery as GEJ does, then perhaps many brainwashed Nigerians will begin to regain their humanity and decency. |
