PassingShot: And many times they have been correct. Same way they broke the news of the first postponement while many of you TANoids dismissed it. One does not even need Saharareporters to note what is on the mind of GEJ and his 'kitchen crew'. Remember that GEJ, since the election postponement, has been scaremongering about Boko Haram and hinting that Nigeria faces a very grave situation lately? Clever observers have already put 2 and 2 together to work out issues. Remember GEJ said that Boko Haram planned to attack and bring down the entire Country? http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/02/boko-haram-planned-attack-whole-country-jonathan/Below is a the typical reaction of an intelligent Nigerian, able to use his mind, over the current scaremongering of a President who has neglected the terror group for 5 years and allowed it to become a serious menace yet is now telling us the situation is grave and that his government "must deal with it". We all know the antecedent of the highly dishonest Jonathan who has virtually contradicted himself for the past 5 years and flattered to deceive over almost every issue from electrification to insecurity. http://www.news24.com.ng/Elections/MyNews24/Attacking-South-Jonathan-Needs-Stop-Using-Boko-Haram-for-Politics-20150211Attacking South: Jonathan Needs Stop Using Boko Haram for Politics Peregrino Brimah
At the headquarters of the revival service of the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Movement in Ijesha, Lagos this Saturday, President Goodluck Jonathan attempted to scare Pastor Lazarus Muoka by telling him that Boko Haram, the north Nigeria terrorizing group had planned to come down south, had it not been checked by his administration.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, Jonathan said, “The idea of the group was to start from the centre of the country and then move to bring the whole country down.”
When I read this, I like many others did not know whether to laugh or cry.
Immediately I understood and actually empathized with Pastor Bishop David Oyedepo. It was clear why he declared that he was anointed to lead the crusade against Boko Haram in that fiery speech; and promised to rip out their gullets and make crimson rivers flow. Pastor Oyedepo had relayed that he too had received a “report” that “Boko Haram” had planned to attack his Church. I am not sure what else Goodluck told him about the “planned attack” and how and who Goolduck told pastor Oyedepo the Boko Haram was; but I have quite a good idea based on some of the things the revered pastor said, including “must the north continue to rule,” and that “the north population cannot be more than Lagos.”
Reading what Jonathan told Pastor Lazarus, it became clear Jonathan’s campaign message across the many Churches he has been patronizing: Boko Haram was coming for you, I am your defender, I stopped them from coming to the South; put your trust and your congregation’s vote in me. Amen.
Also read: APC blasts Bishop Oyedepo for supporting Jonathan
This is tragic, low and dangerous. The damages our president is trying hard and investing billions, “6” to be precise to sow in this nation will long outlive the four year term he is aggressively doing it for even if he does get the term. He exigently needs to be stopped.
Firstly, Boko Haram NEVER planned to attack the South! What? It takes just a motorcycle and a few electric devices, a cell phone and a single man for Boko Haram to successfully bomb anywhere in Nigeria they so wish. Jonathan should stop praying for and stimulating evil he cannot contain. He must stop conjuring harm and death on the South or even fired a single round. We thank God that Boko Haram had a sole plan to destroy the north and the north only. At least, the South is spared. For five years, Boko Haram never set of a single bomb in the South. It is not because of Jonathan or his security agents; it is because attacking the south was NEVER in Boko Haram’s covert contract.
Political Boko Haram terrorists were interested in bombing up the North to kill northern dwellers and anger and scare out Southerners. And territorial Boko Haram insurgents were dedicated to the mission to capture the north starting from the northeast, raping and killing any and everyone in sight and displacing everyone else. There was never a South mission of Boko Haram.
I challenge President Jonathan to provide any evidence of intelligence supporting his “Boko Haram planned to go South campaign.” And what did he mean by saying they “started from the center?” Are there two Nigerias? Is he still claiming the Abuja independence day mischievous blast that MEND claimed responsibility for and accused him orchestrating was done by “northern elements”…who “are Boko Haram?” I could have sworn we were past this.
Seriously Nigeria should not continue to allow this type of senseless and dangerous patronage of Boko Haram for political campaign “gains” and INEC blackmail. When is this rubbish going to stop?
There is nothing to rejoice about Boko Haram’s pogrom. Nothing to be proud of.
Somebody please call Mr. President to order. Nigeria is more than one man and his looting ambition. |

This is what GEJ is afraid of and this is precisely what OBJ has told us is the reason behind the attempt to frustrate Buhari. |

http://saharareporters.com/2015/02/19/jonathan-military-chiefs-working-still-scuttle-electionsJonathan, Military Chiefs Working Still To Scuttle Elections
President Goodluck Jonathan and his closest cronies are still collaborating with a tight-nit circle of military officers to scuttle Nigeria’s general elections that had been postponed by six weeks from the original date of February 14, 2015, according to revelations by several political and security sources.
After failing to gain traction with the floating a so-called government of national unity, Mr. Jonathan and his associates have placed renewed hope in persuading some top military generals to force another postponement of the elections, once again using insecurity as their ruse.
SaharaReporters had revealed through several reports that President Jonathan was set on invoking the climate of insecurity in Nigeria’s northeast to win a postponement of the elections. However, with members of his party admitting that Mr. Jonathan’s electoral fortunes remain dire, the president has been persuaded by hawks close to him to try a fresh tactic of using the uneasy military situation in the northeast to thwart the elections.
Our sources disclosed that the latest plot is being anchored by the National Security Adviser, retired Colonel Sambo Dasuki, who has virtually assumed the functions of the Minister of Defense, Aliyu Gusau. The minister of defense, Gusau who is the NSA's in-law has been tipped to head an interim government in case it becomes a necessity. A military source told SaharaReporters that Mr. Sambo was now deploying his tremendous financial power to recruit top army generals into doing his bidding. Apart from the NSA, Petroleum Minister Diezani Alison Madueke and Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State were identified as the other important players in the latest risky gamble to further postpone elections.
Whilst Ms. Alison Madueke has been providing funds to finance the new plot, Governor Mimiko has been offering strategic advice on how to combat politicians within the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) who may be opposed to the scheme.
Our military sources said the evolving machination threatens to polarize the military as several mid-level officers are reported to be furious with their superiors who are warming up to the idea.
One source described President Jonathan as unperturbed by the clamor for elections, telling members of his kitchen cabinet that his decisions are based upon advice from army generals fighting against Boko Haram.
Although Nigeria’s military top brass had claimed that they would wipe out Boko Haram in six weeks, the evidence points to the reality that the Islamist terrorist group may be growing stronger and increasing its ability to strike against new targets. Recently, the Islamist insurgent group has launched a series of attacks on Gombe and Adamawa State, the latest state in the northeast. They have also captured a few more towns in Borno State.
The postponement of the election appears to have given Boko Haram militants a new boost. In a recent video released few days ago by its leader, Abubakar Shekau, the group talked about their disruption of the upcoming elections.
One security source said the latest plan to scuttle the elections would involve a deliberate effort to allow the security climate to worsen across Nigeria. One plank of the plan is to sponsor Niger Delta militants to cause havoc in the oil-rich delta region in the coming weeks. If the situation becomes dire enough, President Jonathan would then have grounds to declare a national emergency that would make elections impossible in March.
Recently, political thugs financed by Mrs. Patience Jonathan began shooting at opposition rallies held in Rivers State. Such politically-motivated attacks have also been planned for several other states of the federation to create an atmosphere that would get more Nigerians to accept the unviability of holding elections, according to several sources. “The goal by Mr. President is to achieve another postponement of the elections, but this time by six months,” a source familiar with the plot disclosed.
A source stated that the plan explained the fact that Nigeria’s security services have yet to schedule an inter-agency briefing with top officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to discuss a comprehensive strategy for guaranteeing security during the elections. Mr. Jonathan’s military option is meant to proceed in tandem with a parallel plan to offer massive bribes to members of the National Assembly to win their support for a six-month extension of the tenure of his administration. Several lawmakers said they were aware of the plan, but added that there was little hope of a majority of legislators backing the plan.
In what represents a third plank of the plot, several cronies of Mr. Jonathan have filed or plan to file lawsuits aimed at scuttling the elections by seeking the disqualification of the APC’s presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari. At the latest count, some 11 lawsuits have been filed by persons or entities tied to Mr. Jonathan, including the government of Plateau State which has filed a case asking INEC to discard it current voters roll in favor of the one used in 2011. |

http://saharareporters.com/2015/02/19/cusp-history-letter-president-goodluck-jonathan-%E2%80%98tope-oriola On The Cusp Of History: A Letter To President Goodluck Jonathan By ‘Tope Oriola
BY 'TOPE ORIOLA FEB 19, 2015
Dear President Goodluck Jonathan: Let me begin by stating that I approach your person and presidency from a sympathetic perspective. My unsolicited support is predicated on the fact that you are from the Niger Delta, a region that has given so much yet received little from our country and perhaps because you have always struck me as a humble exemplar of the rags to prominence fable.
As an underdog in the political terrain, you were a stranger to power: You were not from a political family; you were neither from the military nor business class. You were from the periphery of the academia. I have occasionally been embarrassed by how you were treated by some critics. I have had occasion to be upset at how some journalists treated you in some of the interviews you granted. Like many Nigerians, I wanted you to succeed as your success was directly correlated with our success as a society. Therefore, this letter is not full of vitriol. Rather, it contains a sober and non-partisan assessment of your options at this defining moment.
Societies do not often go through this kind of moment. I presume that you and those around you can sense the mood of the times. Chief Olusegun Obasanjo saw a glimpse of the quality of this moment during the third term debacle. General Ibrahim Babangida who famously “stepped aside” may speak to the character of this moment. But by a wide margin, General Sani Abacha’s era could provide clearer lessons. You are on the cusp of history. You are, as history may record, in a world-historical crucible at this moment. Nobody feels it better than you. Nobody in Nigeria bears greater responsibility. Our country’s survival is in your hands.
Your Excellency, you are a product of the Nigerian system. No one needs to remind you about your meteoric emergence on the national stage. You were favoured above several individuals who by your own confession were better qualified and had more experience. Nonetheless, you emerged as a relatively young state executive; part of the new generation of leaders without the baggage and blood-stained hands of military coups. And of course, your being from the Niger Delta was music to the ears of many of us. We were ecstatic; you could do no wrong in our eyes!
However, the major power brokers that made you no longer want you. Anecdotal evidence also strongly suggests that many of the people no longer want you. Nigeria as you admitted to US ambassador, Robin Sanders, during the succession debacle, is too complex for a simple man like you. I am afraid, Mr. President, that Nigeria needs someone with qualities that you do not possess. It is not for lack of effort on your part. There are too many wolves in Nigeria. They are not wolves in sheep’s clothing; they are shameless wolves. You never stood a chance, Mr. President. Nigeria needs a complex thinker who can call to order errant old men in the self-serving elite; someone they either respect or fear.
The ongoing political crisis is turning into heroes some who should be in prison for corruption, human rights violation or both. Our country is hemorrhaging. When those whose livelihood depends on not telling you the truth leave the room and you are all alone, speak to your Creator and do the right thing for the long-suffering Nigerian people. You must be ready for the probability that you may lose the presidential election. That may well be good for the country and yourself. It is time for you to stay true to your belief in the Scriptures: All power belongs to God and he gives it to whomever he wills.
I am not particularly thrilled that someone who was military Head of State when I was barely out of diapers may succeed you in office but that may well be the beauty of democracy. Do not impede the voice of the people. History may yet be kind to you if you conduct free and fair elections. You are unlikely to win the Mo Ibrahim or Nobel Prize but you will earn significant respect for peaceful transfer of power and begin a dignified life in retirement. You may even become a power broker although I view you as too humble to want that role.
Your Excellency, your primary aim must now be a higher purpose than winning an election. Allow Professor Attahiru Jega to do his job. You cannot replace the umpire at the last minute. The optics are bad. Meet with the Inspector General of Police and military chiefs and let them know that your political ambitions are secondary to the well-being of our country. Stop your supporters from fanning the embers of religious bigotry. Provide the needed resources and leadership to tackle Nigeria’s many security problems. Allow the notion of an interim national government to remain what it is — a mere rumour. Please, address the Nigerian people and tell fellow Nigerians you are speaking to them as their leader and not a candidate for election. Tell them to vote for whomsoever they please and that you will ensure there is no electoral rigging.
It is your right to stand for office but ensure you act ethically and legally. Campaign with all your heart but be ready to accept defeat. I do not think that your luck has ran out. I think your luck has now called you to rise beyond the self. Your name is Goodluck. There may yet be more luck in store for you but clinging on to power is not in your fortunes. You will be stunned at how history will remember you if you organize free and fair elections. Do not take Nigeria towards the road to Rwanda. I wish you well.
Sincerely,
‘Tope Oriola.

You will get old someday and understand how petty and nauseatingly discriminatory (like you) some people can be when they will rise up to say you are not "fit" to do something because of advanced years yet there is absolutely nothing wrong with you physically and mentally which prevents you doing what everyone else can. It is called discrimination. I assume you are black and female. As a black female you should be the last person practising discrimination of any form against others. With Buhari's health, your utterance show you have believed the lies packaged for you by those who oppress you and want to continue oppressing your children and grandchildren so that they can divert the wealth of Nigerian, which belongs to you, to their private bank accounts. Buhari is well and, like Mandela, will be an effective 'elderly' President. Nigerian politics is very dirty and all adults should choose carefully what they believe because I think we should all work with what is factual and proven instead of making conclusions based on hearsay and carefully packaged rumours which is usually the work of those who want to keep Nigeria as it is. Open your eyes and see. |

Nigerians are really an amusing people and it is funny to note the usual suspects deluding themselves that GEJ even has a small chance in the SW. Anyone who thinks about issues dispassionately will realise that the SW has no reason, non at all, to want GEJ to remain in power for another 4 years.
Virtually all the folks I know, from the SW, who voted for GEJ in 2011 have sworn vehemently not to have anything to do with him because of how he has let them down massively. They are now determined to vote for the GMB/Osinbajo ticket. With the SW, issues are not personal. GEJ has been given a chance and he simply has not acquitted himself well at all and this mainly is what will make people of the SW reject him massively in every State in the region. |

I will support any President that will do whatever is best for Nigeria regardless of whose Ox is gored. It is pointless shouting and making everything about those who surround a President (GEJ) OR Presidential candidate (Buhari) when it is far more important to note their personal character , actions, belief system and history which shows they will either abandon (GEJ) or uplift (Buhari) the common man. It is impossible for even the best leaders to avoid corrupt folks because majority of Nigerian politicians are corrupt. That is our reality we must pragmatically deal with as intelligent and realistic adults till we collectively evolve a system that s controlled by upright men and women in the majority. As things stand, our politics is dominated by corruption and it is vital we get a President who will reform others through the strength of his own character, conviction and will to lead by example. Nigerians did not become what they have overnight . It was leaders like OBJ, IBB, Jonathan et al who showed them it was okay and even 'legitimate' to be devious and corrupt till this became part of the DNA of many of our people. With what we have in Nigeria, and till things improve, it is important, above everything else, for our number one leader to possess the character that will always make him/her devoted to doing what is right for the average Nigerian regardless of what those around him say or do. |

blackfase: Baba I opened a thread to this effect. Its very clear they are scared of a backlash. Thats the reason for all these desperate manoeuvers. Its as clear as daylight. Jonathan looks like a cornered rat about now, and sometimes I feel a pang of pity for him but when I get jolted to the reality of failed promises, especially lack of electricity (makes me mad the most), I feel like cursing them all over and over again. No doubt these guys have committed piles upon piles of atrocities and they looking for a way out. Honestly I cant wait to see the back of the clueless one and his gang of bandits.....prolly at a supermax facility What upsets me the most is how Nigerians continue to die while Jonathan and his wicked clique continued playing cynical and divisive politics with the issue of terror. Over 15,000.00 Nigerians have been murdered by Boko Haram. Every time Nigerians are killed, Jonathan will be found only offering platitude and weak condemnation or even dancing Alingo at a political rally a day after a highly fatal bombing. With the Chibok kidnapping, our President said nada for two weeks while the world screamed with us in frustration for the return of these girls. To make matters worse, political associate and cronies of GEJ who should know better claimed "Chibok kidnapping a scam" and even offensively carried placards to this effect not at all bothered at the distress they are causing for the family and friends of the missing girls. Let us then not even go into corruption and the brazen looting going on under GEJ. Even GEJ would leave if assured a 'soft landing' because that is how much his job and problems of Nigeria has overwhelmed him. I suspect GEJ is simply afraid of losing to Buhari in particular because he knows the General will not simply allow all the atrocities that went on under GEJ to go unpunished. Like you, I feel a bit sorry for him but I too then remember he is a cynically, highly corrupt and anti-people leader who has brought misery to millions of Nigerians. |

dre11: Very common with Taniods......... Attack the messenger and not the message which was passed across Please don't mind them. If you had told them , weeks ago, that OBJ would tear his PDP membership card in public would they not have called you a "liar" and "propagandist"? TANdroids can never face reality . |

taharqa: Mtschee.......
Very stupiid and amateur propaganda piece from SR, been trumpeted by APC chief Propagandist on Nairaland. Is that not how you desperadoes claimed that election postponement was "lies" and "propaganda" when Saharareporters first reported it? Bros, no one is buying your'attack the messenger' hyperbole any more. We are seeing events unfold before our very eyes and you guys are still obsessed with discrediting saharareporters. Would you have believed it two weeks ago if someone said OBJ would publicly deface and ruin his PDP membership card? Face reality ogbeni. |

The fear of GMB is the beginning of ......................... Okupe, Allison-Madueke, Ifeanyi Uba, Adoke-Bello and co are sh*tting their pants right now and sweating profusely at the thought of Buhari in Aso Rock. However, some PDP officials told SaharaReporters that, while they hoped that President Jonathan could be sidelined to increase the chances of the party in the upcoming elections, they also wished that the APC would also dump Mr. Buhari as its presidential candidate.
The party officials claimed that key political figures across Nigeria continue to view a Buhari Presidency with mortal fear because of his stubborn personality and his promise to punish the corrupt. |
