vislabraye:Clearly you don't get it because you do not want to get it. Let us talk objectively and dispassionately as educated men. It is not probing "past leaders" and individual that will provide the best way to fight corruption. The best way to fight corruption is by creating a system where impunity, criminality, lawlessness and theft of public funds is punished swiftly and severely to provide a deterrent to potential wrongdoers. That is how it is worldwide and that is what gets lasting rewards to help developed Nations get where they are today. I would posit that Germans and Australians would be as corrupt as Nigerians today if their system let them be so !!! Britain, as an example I hope puts issues in perspective for you, does not fight armed robbery by going into homes to look for armed-robbers. The nation fights the crime by developing a highly effective policing system that means you will be shot dead quickly by a rapidly-responding and well-trained police force if you brandish a gun in public for the sake of disposing someone of their cash/asset. With this being the case, you would have to think twice before committing armed robbery in Britain. In Nigeria armed robbery and crime thrive because our police force, to put it mildly, is sh*t !!!! If you are devoted to supporting GEJ then that is fine but what Buhari is saying is simple and, to all reasonable Nigerians, the panacea to the issue of corruption. It is far more important, above everything else, to create a system that chokes and stifles corruption. The PDP has never done this because many in the Party benefits from a Nigeria where corruption thrives. |
TheOtherview:This is the kind of contribution I like. Intelligent and thought-provoking. Your point is valid and correct but this cannot come at the start of Buhari's Presidency because Buhari has made it clear he will immediately move to address two major problem leading Nigeria towards becoming a failed state i.e security and the economy. Punishment of corruption and the return of stolen loot will not be personalised under Buhari. It will be achieved through fundamental reforms and strengthening of institutions and parastatals like the NNPC, Nigerian Army, Nigerian police force et al specifically with investigative probes Buhari has revealed he will carry out to find out "what went wrong". It will not be feasible to recover everything everyone has stolen but specific task force recommendation will underpin the recovery of major looted funds. The Buhari Government, as one example, will get to the bottom of the alleged missing $20 billion. The "amnesty" is aimed more at those who are not linked to governance today. Those who have destroyed Nigeria by abusing their public office in the GEJ government will still be punished if probes and task force investigation indict them. This is why Okupe et al are ranting about "Buhari will never rule Nigeria". |
OREMUSSANCTUS:You clearly did not read and understand what I said so I have nothing to say to you. Thanks. |
Reading the thread below made me realise that many Nigerians still do not understand Buhari's thinking about how the fight against prosecution will be prosecuted. I think some Nigerians expect a gung-ho Rambo-style fight and 'take-down' of prominent Nigerian 'baddies' perceived to be corrupt. https://www.nairaland.com/2143063/definitely-buharis-biggest-mistake-whats Those expecting that will be disappointed because Buhari, several times, has clearly stated his approach to corruption and it will not include wasting valuable governance time , considering how troubled Nigeria is, making his leadership entirely about going after those guilty of past corrupt practices when there is much to do in the present and future to secure Nigeria and get her on track again. Buhari has stated that his government will "draw a line in the sand" (his words exactly) when sworn in to power as a point from which things must be done properly and the point from which stealing, corruption, criminality and impunity will no longer be condoned or go unpunished. Buhari makes it clear that the corrupt have a chance to change their ways and be part of a new Nigeria up to that "line" drawn in the sand. Buhari is not here to witch-hunt anyone . The chance is there for wrongdoers and enemies of Nigeria's progress to change their way and submit themselves to the new way of administering Nigeria. So therefore Buhari will not reject the help of any prominent Nigerian , to include reformed wrongdoers, who are genuinely interested in working for the birth of a a new and working Nigeria. He will not come out to call some thieves, even if that is what some Nigerians want, because that is not the way Buhari has told anyone he will fight corruption. He will not, after gaining power, begin fighting everything and everyone to a standstill when that makes little sense and is counter-productive to what needs to be done to address the serious problems of Nigeria. Everyone, even the corrupt, gets a 'fresh start' under GMB as long as they reform and accept that things will no longer be "business as usual" after May 29th. When Buhari gets into power he will, first and foremost, assess the level of damage done to Nigeria. From that point measures will be put in place to 'repair' Nigeria that will not spare any sacred cows. If any Nigerian, however highly placed, fall foul of the new way of doing things then they will be dealt with by an impartial and corruption-intolerant system that had warned everyone to reform for the better or face the consequences of their actions. This is why Buhari has told hardened wrongdoers who do not wish to change their ways to "get ready to leave Nigeria" when he becomes President. |
@OP. Clearly you and others have not followed and understood the announcement Buhari has made, several times, about his approach to corruption. I will repeat it to clear up things hopefully once and for all. Buhari has stated that he cannot judge anyone's guilt outside power and he cannot adequately estimate wrongdoing against Nigeria or the level of rot until he is in power and privy to information that will give him a complete and comprehensive view of the full picture. Do not therefore expect him to call IBB, Tinubu, OBJ et al crooks as you are ready to do. As someone who wants to be President, Buhari cannot pronounce anyone's guilt based on hearsay and baseless accusations alone as you may be happy to do. He cannot display prejudice openly against others either when they have not been convicted of any wrongdoing. Buhari concludes that his government will "draw a line in the sand" (his words) when sworn in to power as a point from which stealing, corruption, criminality and impunity will no longer go unpunished or be condoned. So therefore Buhari will not reject the help of any prominent Nigerian who is genuinely interested in working for the birth of a a new and working Nigeria. He will not come out to call some thieves, even if that is what you want, because that is not the way Buhari has told you he will fight corruption. If IBB, Tinubu , OBJ et al fall foul of the new way of doing things then they will be dealt with by an impartial system that had warned everyone to reform for the better or face the consequences of their actions. As simple as that. |
thewarrior72:Bruv, I have not been 'hiding'. Merely not as active as before. As far as the Fulani herdsmen crime, it is disingenuous to link that to Buhari with your use "buhari kinsmen". If anything, what Buhari has always stood for is justice for Nigerians regardless of whose Ox is gored. Unlike GEJ who believes criminals should be celebrated and elevated (Alamco, Teslim FolaRin, Ifeanyi Ubah, Maina et al) Buhari believes strongly in the notion that a man must pay for his wrongdoing against others. This is why he wanted his "kinsman" Umaru Dikko to come and face justice for ruining the lives of many Nigerians with his corrupt acts. In fact these sort of crimes are another indication of why we need Buhari urgently. If elected to power Buhari will ensure we have a modern and well-trained police and armed force that can roactively prevent crime plus apprehend and jail criminals quickly and efficiently. |
dvee2:This is true and it is because Buhari is seen as a complete end to "business as usual"that most of them thrive on to the detriment of the masses. |
A Presidential speech from a Presidential leader. We hear you loud and clear GMB. We must reject those who propagate hatred, ethnicity, divisiveness, sectionalism or seek to manipulate our religious differences in such cynical fashion. On our part, we will remain undeterred: our commitment is to bring about change in the way we live and think and work in this nation; and our goal is to ensure a decent existence for all. And, by the Grace of God, that is what we will do —we will remain true to our commitment and we will achieve our goal.https://bellanaija.cdn.ng/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Buhari-2015-BN-7-600x901.jpg |
HonourableVP:Buhari supporters are not thugs and are not "intolerant". Firstly, the PDP is the home of thuggery. Buhari fans are just fed up of the monumental misrule of the PDP and are now determined to stand up to the misruling Party. You fans of GEJ would prefer the old days where the PDP bullies everyone and get away with it but you forget that political sophistication is on the increase, even if belatedly, in Nigeria thnks to social networking which is now making the world a global village where Nigerians can see what others receive as basic dividends of democracy. We are in the days of "amandla awetu" i.e "power to the people" and it is the bullying PDP that fails to acknowledge this. Because Buhari fans now want to stand up to the misruling PDP and take their Country back you call them "thugs"? Should we all sit under a tree, drink beer and watch Nigeria fail totally to become Afghanistan? Did the Arab leaders, confronted violently by their own people during the Arab spring, misrule their nation even 0.5 % as badly as the PDP has messed up Nigeria for the past 16 years? How many of those Arab nation, where we saw citizen-led uprisings against political leadership, lacked constant electricity? Do you know the per capita income of those nations compared to that of Nigeria? Do you know the state of their general infrastructure and healthcare/education/security/youth employment et al in comparison to Nigeria? Believe me , if Buhari fans are really thugs then many Nigerian leaders should be getting the Gaddafi treatment now for their terrible and dehumanising misrule of Nigeria over the past 16 years. |
Zuria:APC supporters are not aggressive. They are merely very passionate people who want change uncompromisingly and believe they deserve to be led well. APC and Buhari fans are pragmatic and resolute people who believe that they are responsible for determining their own destiny whereas GEJ fans are 'hope and pray' simpletons who abandon their own capacity for self-determination to then pin all their aspirations on hope, prayers and the notion "God will intervene and all will be well". Buhari supporters believe that "heaven help those who help themselves". I don't know where you live and your level of exposure outside Nigeria but I can tell you that APC supporters are the closest thing Nigeria has to the sophisticated electorate in the West who do not tolerate political misrule/incompetence at all and do not 'suffer political fools gladly'. You may interpret that as "aggression" but I can tell you David Cameron, Obama, Merkel, Hollande and other Western leaders would have been forced to resign, from "aggressive" citizens pressure, within two weeks of the Chibok kidnapping happening on their soil and with the girls remaining in captivity. Did you not see world anger against GEJ over the Chibok girls? Would you then call the entire world "aggressive" or is it that values are so bastardized in Nigeria we now even pray for and support our oppressors and killers? Buhari fans do not abide with or glorify mediocrity and that is the way it is worldwide. It is GEJ fans who should view themselves as extremely docile and suffering from'stockholm syndrome' rather than label APC/Buhari fans as "aggressive". |
@OP. You are telling the truth but don't expect TANdroid, always highly emotional and sentimental, to agree with you. Supporters of Buhari are streets ahead of fans of GEJ in virtually all aspects of comparison. Even on this forum, it is obvious the supporters of Buhari are far more intellectually convincing and more politically sophisticated than GEJ fans who are petty and deal in rumours, scaremongering ,outright idiocy and personality-centred arguments rather than work with an issue-based approach. In short GEJ supporters are exactly like the failed misruler, highly corrupt, morally bankrupt and unprincipled President they worhsip. We all know birds of a feather .............. |
TheOtherview:This is the crux of the matter. Jonathan, after enjoying immense goodwill when he became substantive President in 2011, has unravelled as a hideous misruler and a brazenly corrupt leader. Buhari is more popular this time around because of the perception he has positive qualities which makes him distinctly different to those GEJ possesses that predisposed him to loot and misrule Nigeria. Where it is now confirmed that GEJ is nauseatingly corrupt, to the detriment of Nigeria, Buhari is perceived as a leader who will not support corruption and will fight it vigorously. Buhari is viewed as disciplined, immaterialistic, efficient and austere whereas GEJ is now deemed inefficient, profligate and callously materialistic ala ten airplanes and N1 billion annual food bill. Jonathan, universally, is now perceived as weak, indecisive and easily bullied while Buhari is deemed to be resolute, focused and decisive. Jonathan is the champion of the corrupt elite and works for them but Buhari is pro-people. In short, Buhari is the much better opposite of GEJ and this is what Nigerians want at this point after GEJ has virtually destroyed our nation over 5 years. |
Mods , when will this be put on the front page and 'stickied' to the top of the politics section? Is it not important for all Nairalanders to get the chance to listen to Buhari? When will the mods and owner of this forum begin to play fair? |
Why is this not on the front page and 'stickied' at the top of the politics section like other thread? @Topic. Nigerians genuinely interested in the progress of Nigeria, and perhaps still undecided, should watch the two interviews. Without boring Nairalanders with details, I will say the most important thing about Buhari, which I have seen in other leaders who went on to be great and pivotal in the development of their nation, is his inherent integrity and sincerity which prevented him from lying and making all manners of promises. Insincere politicians who are potential misrulers always lie and make promises they know they cannot deliver on because power for the sake of it is what they are after. They need the people's vote to get that power and will say/promise anything to get those votes. If Buhari is only interested in reaching Aso Rock for the sake of that consideration alone rather than because of a genuine desire to 'fix' Nigeria then he could lie and promise heaven and earth as GEJ did 4-5 years ago. The man will not even compromise his personal integrity by lying to Nigerians !!! He did not make the interviews about the PDP and was not interested in savaging them as many wold take the opportunity to do given the monumental maladministration of our ruling Party. This is man focused on what he must do . The decency, focus and honesty of Buhari is apparent. there was no talk of anyone remembering phone numbers or the drinking habit or health of other Presidential candidates. No personalised pettiness at all. Just an upright and regal focus on the issues with Nigeria matched by an obvious passion for delivering change for the better. Allied with his legendary focus and will, then Nigerians can be rest assured this is a man who will work passionately for the ordinary man and lead him by example. Buhari, proving his superiority above the PDP looters hounding him, confirmed the truth of what is written below with these two interviews. https://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/71-drnwEKOL._SL1500_.jpg |
All hail Goodluck 'Abacha' Jonathan. I really pity our desperado Presdident. Whatever fate befalls him he will deserve . |
InglishTeechar:What is the drunk talking about ? ![]() |
chukwudi44:Were you even born in 1967? I was not. As if the entire forum does not know your support of GEJ is driven by a hatred of Nigeria and a passion to see the nation in misery because of your vendetta-driven obsession with 'getting even' over a civil war you should try and put behind you and move on from. You are very sad. You need to get a life and enjoy all the good things life has to offer instead of allowing your entire life and outlook to be defined by something you and others today, who should be allies, were not part of and did not cause. Your hateful heart and perpetual desire for vengeance against others makes you back evil and is the reason Nigeria may experience another civil strife in future while progressive nations grapple with how to secure progress for their citizens. |
chukwudi44:See them in all their 'glory'. The "chop sand syndrome" children of indoctrination shamelessly backing a man who represents monumental ineptitude, deaths, poverty, hideous corruption, scams and abysmal misrule of millions because of a wicked, personalised , malevolent and vendetta-driven urge to 'get even' with others. Never mind GEJ is a terribly corrupt, callous and incompetent leader who is on course to destroy Nigeria. The more GEJ misrules Nigeria the more some back him because they are enemies-within forever indoctrinated to hate their own nation and wish the worst for her. Nigeria is the unluckiest nation on earth in my opinion because her greatest enemies and saboteurs are internal and consisting of repellent elements like this Chuckwudi44 chap. To think "Una never see anything yet" backing for GEJ comes from a young and educated person as well who should be getting on with his life and hoping to gain what others take for granted throughout the world like constant power supply, adequate healthcare, decent infrastructure, good policing, etc, etc . Tragic. Really tragic. |
Charlotte15:Just look at the fat fool ranting undemocratically below . Political decorum and sophistication has fled Nigeria completely courtesy of GEJ and all we now get are thugs and mercenaries like Okupe, promoted far above their station, talking asinine garbage against a man they are not fit to even stand beside. Okupe is indeed "yuck". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8MAH-qZ-EE |
bilms:I think most Nigerians now realise this. Look at how Okupe was shouting like a lunatic in public that "Buhari will never rule this Country" when he is merely a special assistant who does not determine anything. This shows you the cabal-centred selfishness GEJ and his minions have towards holding on to power by all means. Each and every single one of them has a selfish reason , not connected with what is best for Nigerians, for wanting Buhari to remain away from Aso-Rock. Most Nigerians now accept that if GEJ wins then the evil men and women have won starting from Mr.President himself. |
queensmith:Thank you. This is why I advised OP, if he must turn himself into an image launderer for GEJ, to stick to believable areas of strength. When he is now trying to use an area GEJ is judged as monumentally failed in, i.e corruption, to claim some fabled 'efficacy' for our failed President then it just appears that GEJ fans live in a parallel universe of lies, immorality and self-deceit. What next? GEJ has been "silently" efficient against Boko Haram and the over 15,000.00 Nigerians the terror group have killed are not actually dead but being housed in a refugee camp in Burkina Faso? These GEJ fans sef. Sentimental enemies-of-progress the lot of them. |
agabaI23:What a joke. Did the biggest fuel subsidy scam in Nigeria's history not happen under GEJ? Do you know that the scam essentially involved "contractors" grossly over-invoicing for oil supplied , or even invoicing for oil that was not supplied, and getting paid for those criminal and fruadulent practices? Do you know the FG (under GEJ) and NNPC (under Allison-Madueke ) are the only two authorities with the power to hand out fuel marketer licence? How did your "anti-corruption" GEJ and his partner-in-crime, Allison-Madueke, end up disbursing these licences to scammers who went on to commit the biggest fraud in the history of Nigeria? So are those fuel subsidy 'contractors' ,happy at the scam the corrupt GEJ government colludes with them to get away with, different to the one you "met" who was "complaining" about GEJ? You people sha. No shame at all declaring that white rice is black. GEJ is easily the most corruption-friendly President Nigeria has ever had. Show me someone saying otherwise and I show you a shamelessly dishonest person and brazen liar. I don't know how you want to reconcile this your "GEJ is anti-corruption" drive with how the likes of Ifeanyi Uba who scammed Nigeria silly are working officially for the re-election of GEJ. You guys should fear God because your GEJ cannot profit from the unbelievably ridiculous lies you are telling on his behalf. Why not come back later and start another thread about meeting a Boko Haram member who "confessed" GEJ is fighting them hard "silently" and giving them hell and making the terror business so hard for them that they are even considering putting down their guns to embrace farming !!! If you wish to practice image laundering at least let it be believable. Do not come here and be telling us unbelievable stories even a child will laugh at. |
anonimi:The crayon brat appears. Try to get a job or a hobby and stop running after Nairalanders who have absolutely no regard for you and deem you a nuisance. |
@OP. Simply unbelievable. All that the interview reveals is the extent to which GEJ has destroyed Nigerian institutions like the Army. Saddening to hear Captain Koli reveal his anger at the manner Obanikoro, Fayose, Omisore et al were threatening and bullying his boss. Jonathan, at this moment, is the biggest and most dangerous enemy of Nigeria. |
Paspane:And you are a weakling consumed with cowering and pitying himself. I don't have time for bigots and prejudiced folks. That is how it is worldwide. If that makes me a "bully" then the Earth is home to billions of "bullies". Peddling the prejudiced notion, in this day and age, that someone should be rejected for a job or position because of his race, ethnic origin or religion is downright repellent. As simple as that. Someone doing such is not "expressing his opinion" . They are peddling intolerance and prejudice that is openly denounced and rejected in modern and progressive society. Never forget that the world is a much better, less racist and less discriminatory place because of those who condemned prejudice vehemently. Let the fans of GEJ vote for GEJ and convince others to do so based on his leadership and that alone. Telling us Buhari must not lead because he is a "born to rule" Muslim from Northern Nigeria is nauseating prejudice any sane and upright person should condemn - especially in the face of the monumental misrule of GEJ that is leading Nigeria towards total failure. |
EUROBOMBER:You are such a backward, vainglorious ethnocentric and petty fellow. You have a country that does not work and is rapidly failing, en route to becoming Afghanistan, and you are only interested in "making a point" to "born to rule tribe" ? Talk about cutting your nose to spite your face. I pity you and others like you.How I wish backward elements like you can live in an advanced nation for a month, where everything works and all the basic like electricity are adequately catered for, so you know what really matters to a progress-oriented polity unlike Nigeria where a 'suffering-and-smiling' caveman like you can still come out to make the asinine comment you did above. You are an enemy-of-progress, a vendetta-driven bigot and a saboteur anyway so I am not surprised at your myopic and childishly self-defeatist outlook. |
Tragic that Nigeria ended up with GEJ. A development like this, with the President of the biggest black nation on earth caling a criminal his "boss", shows how badly Nigerians got it wrong voting GJ in 2011. |
This article is written by someone on crack cocaine who is hoping others will get as high as he is. Jonathan has completely lost Nigerians. This is merely the efforts of expensively paid 'spin doctors' to bamboozle gullible folks. With Okupe and others foaming at the mouth shouting like lunatic that "Buhari will never rule Nigeria" you know the game is up for these people. GEJ is facing total electoral annihilation. Nigerians are against him and the entire universe is against him. Game over for GEJ and the PDP. https://www.gdunlimited.net/forums/uploads/gallery/category_6/gallery_25428_6_29368.jpg |
Caseless:Man mi, have no fear and do not despair. This action is the desperate antics of a drowning man (GEJ/PDP) clasping at straws. Too much has happened for majority of Nigerians to ever support GEJ to carry on leading Nigeria. There is nothing GEJ and the PDP can do to stop Nigerians getting the change they want. This is what the PDP want i.e to deflate the spirit of APC supporters. They can never win. Simply stay strong and GMB/Osinbajo victory is assured. |
emiye:Did you hear Koli in the interview above saying how he was getting angry at how Fayose, Omisore and Obanikoro were bullying his boss? Obanikoro even threatened to "sit on the file" of Koli's superior if he did not do what GEJ and the PDP wanted. That part of the interview must fill any patriotic Nigerian with pure rage !!! Absolutely disgusting what GEJ has turned Nigeria into with money corruption. Koli even stated it many times in the interview that is motivation for revealing this development is to keep the Nigerian army professional and apolitical. The very consideration GEJ and his gang are determined to undermine at all cost in the quest to gain power that is not mandated to them by the people. You are indeed right to conclude the election is a battle to retrieve the soul of Nigeria from wicked and godless elements. |
san316:This is why GEJ is fighting tooth and nail to remain in Aso Rock, or as touted, hand over to a 'friendly' hand. Do you not see how his aids like Okupe are going around and losing their composure while shouting uncouthly and unprofessionally, like Street thugs, that "Buhari will never rule Nigeria". They all know the monumental corruption, criminality, scams and huge misrule Buhari will expose and are desperate to ensure he does not gain power so that their skeletons remain in the cupboard. |

So funny.
